he's gonna be gone for two weeks. He's like, I'm
letting it lose. I don't know. There's crashes and crap
on the freeways. Duh, so cal this is Will. Bye. Yeah, okay, okay,

Park from KFI AM six forty huge win. The parks
are gorgeous right now again, thank you. We got some
more people donating at RM dot org slash ote for
Over the Edge. That's Union Rescue Mission. Amy and I
are raising awareness and money today. We're going over the
(02:02):
Edge on the Hilton there right off the one to
one freeway next to Universal Studios. It is the Universal
City Hilton, gorgeous place, great rooms and a lovely joint
and we're going over the Edge twenty five stories today
to build awareness for Union Rescue Mission, who just does
(02:24):
a fantastic job. They are one of my monthly charities.
They are a dry organization means you have to get
sober and want to get off the streets, and last
year they got a thousand people not in temporary housing,
but they help them find their way home for real.
And we are holy smoked.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
We just got a lot closer to our goal.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Oh my gosh, we are knocking on the door. Please
please please get us there. We're at nineteen nineteen five
and we want to get to twenty thousand. This is super,
super huge. You guys are blessing us beyond measure right now.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Thanks Kat Wexler and Jonathan Reeves and Teresa Ruiz and
Sergios Narrows. And I've got a huge anonymous donation. But
the lady who donated said that her husband was Santa
for years on Christmas Eve at the La Union.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
My gosh, that is huge. Two thousand dollars. God bless you.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Nancy.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, sort of anonymous, Yeah, you're not anonymous. To us, Nancy,
thank you, and to the Nash family. Jonathan Reeves, Cat Wexler,
Oh my gosh, what is with the coolest names of
the whole white world?
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Kat Wexler, P I I like that somebody's listening in Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
They're like, write that down.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Will It was a dark night, it was a sultry evening.
Thank you for the lovely donation. Yil savedra and generously
covered the transaction. If you, thank you, Thank you Neil
for supporting this amazing organization. Thank you so much for
the Jesus show you rock. Love you Kat, You're a blessing.
So it's a female cat, Kat Westler, female PI. Teresa Ruiz,
(04:16):

You truly make a difference in people's lives. That's incredibly sweet.
We're in a box here making fun of each other
all day. Anthony, thanks for all you do for helping
(04:38):
those in need. Thank you, Anthony, John Lindsay Linsley, Rather
KFI is a great station. Neil is one of my favorites.
Thank you, John Lindsay Linsley. Damn it is all you
were now I'm Team KNO. Carrie Winget wing It. Carrie Wingett,
(05:00):
thank you for your donation. Mark Dettwiler. That's another cool name.
What's with all these cool Nettie Matthews Did we get
to Nettie Matthews. Nettie Matthews, lovely strong woman lived on
the prairie in the late early nineteen hundreds. She'd sweep
(05:20):
that cottage like it was the last thing she had
to do. Making dinner by the fire, she would think
about the days, the simpler days. Sorry, I don't know
why I'm doing this, but Ashley Wheeler, I just am
very very very thankful. Hey, I wanted to remind you
(05:41):
of something. It's foody Friday. And I went out with
a dear friend last night and we went to the
west end Bonaventure. And I tell you that because this
it's on Flower Street and you have to enter on
Flower now because or any think the other side, yeah,
(06:03):
is not open, so you get on Flour there. What
a beauty. It's a gorgeous hotel to begin with. It's
the one that looks like the spires, the four spires
there that go up or is that a spire or
would that be just I don't know, cylinders whatever. And
it's got the outside elevators that you can see going up.
(06:23):
It's just it's beautiful. Well, they have a lounge bar
that spins three hundred and sixty degrees slowly. I think
it's it makes a full revolution every sixty minutes or something.
I think, so it it revolves and then they have
La Prime up top, and I got to tell you
it's been the second time I've eaten there in the
(06:45):
past month or so. The service is impeccable, the food
is outstanding. Their steaks are all prime, A small percentage
of stack is qualified to be called prime to begin with,
prepared perfectly. So my friend had a New York strip
(07:12):
I had. I thought I was going to go light
because I had the Delmonico last time, which is just
an insane, insane steak. I was just sharing it because
it's a big So I thought I'd have a ten
ounce Oscar style filet, and then we had creamed corn,
(07:33):
we had asparagus, we had some mashed potatoes, some wine,
a little bit of cocktails, and it was magical. You
can see three hundred and sixty degrees if you walk
around the place. The restaurant, I don't think spins. But
we saw the lights of Dodger Stadium. You could see
(07:56):
the Hollywood Sign. You could just we are in La especially,
we chase whatever's new, and we forget about these gems
that are located right in our city. It took me,
I don't know, you know, during drivetime, took me fifteen
(08:20):
minutes wasn't bad at all. Valet parking for three hours
if you eat at La Prime ten Bucks, where do
you get valet parking for ten Bucks in La ten
freaking Bucks for valet parking there? Anyways, it was fantastic.
(08:43):
So I do this every now and again. I just
want to remind you that we have so many places
that have been around. I know, people just try and
go to, oh, what's new right now or whatever. Go
to your places nearby. You're out there in you know,
near the Ie or Rancho Kucamonga. You know, the magic
(09:04):
Lamp is open again, and the magic lamp is beautiful,
and they have magicians on the weekends, and they've got
great food over there. Go to these places that you
pass all the time where you think, ah, it's gonna
be a pain or whatever it is. It's not. Keep
these legacy places alive because they are beautiful and they're
(09:25):
doing it right. I was just it just felt like
I was out to dinner again, not like being pushed through,
not being like the proper amount of asking how things were.
The chef is delightful, he was very kind, sent us
out in a mooge boose boosh, which just means, you know,
happy mouth. And it was a lovely scallop perfectly seared
(09:52):
with caviar on it and a sauce, and it was
so phenomenal and everything is was just pitch perfect. Is
it cheap new It's It's certainly something for a special
occasion if you wish or you know you're gonna go
out and really enjoy it. But you know what, I
(10:15):
brought food home. My guest brought food home. It was
just absolutely phenomenal. So you've got something going. And I
was told because I mentioned them before, was so blown
away that as a listener came last night because they
heard me talking about the chef. So they're not you know,
(10:35):
not getting paid to say anything. Just want to let
you know, check out those local places. There are plenty
of them.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show, Catch My
Show Monday through Friday six am to nine am, and
anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Woo Man, you guys rock, you are kicking ass. We
are over our twenty thousand dollars raised for the Union
Rescue Mission. Amy King and I are going over the
edge today repelling down a twenty five story building a
lot of people are like you guys are braver than me.
(11:13):
Phyllis Lafrida donated. You guys are so much braver than me.
Thank you for all your hard work. Diana Sobray donated
covering the transaction fees. Thank you, great organization. We agree.
Kathy Honjiu donated. Thank you Kathy, Heidi Eckerd. Thank you
(11:34):
so much for all of you your generosity. Love listening
to you and Neil in the morning.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
I love this one too.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Marie got it. We gotta know what Marie Manzo.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Oh, so she's lovely too.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yes, I always enjoy listening to the two of you
in the mornings. You guys make my day. That's very sweet. Amy,
you've got some well.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
I was going to say we got an anonymous donation,
a very very generous one, and the person said, not
going over the edge myself.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
So here's a donation here. Take this with you. Uh
dam stop is is it? Dine e? D y n e?
How would you pronounce that? Lawlerne Dine Lawler donated. Thank
you h for all for helping those in need. Thank
(12:26):
you for helping keep up the good work. Claudine Maine
for me man we got cool names. Heidi Eckard, we
talked about her. I think could be even better if
we know how to pronounce them. Lovely. I know, I'm sorry.
Love listening to you and Amy. Amazing energy. Brian Colby,
(12:47):
super easy name like the cheese double donations there. Yeah,
these are just really lovely. Peter Sanchez ter Teresa on
Chez in memory of her brother. God bless you. That
is really awesome. Janey von uh Seguran. I'm Jenny Janey
(13:10):
g A n I E Von Sagan and I'm here
about your ghost problem. Let's see, I can feel the
dark energy.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Carl Sagan was a space guy, not a.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Yes, not a billions and billions of years ago.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Yes, why oh I thought you were making reference to
the Sagan No, what was that anyway?
Speaker 2 (13:39):
But very cool. Thank you all. You can still donate.
You r M dot org slash o t E for
Over the Edge, look for the KFI team and donate.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
That's very very sweet, and we are going we have
gone over the top. Yes, we'd like to keep going. Yeah,
this is for a great cause. They are a dry organization,
so they don't get any federal money. You have to have,
you have to allow people to be drug addicts. I
guess so they don't.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
And they really work towards getting people off the streets
for real. One thousand people last year went through their
program learning to get sober and all of those things.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
More than that went through. Those are the thousands of
the people who got into housing, you know, got into
permanent housing.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
All right, sushi is bigger than ever in America. I'm
going to tell you why, and it's a strange thing.
Also tell you how long it took, essentially for us
to adapt to sushi in the United States. Also coming up,
the folks from Zelman's popping on to announce the winners
of the dinner with Bill Handle and Me at the
Anaheim White House on October eleventh, to put them to
(14:43):
the test with some garlic onions and the yummy food.
Kf I am six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio
app Good Morning, Good Friday morning, Neil Sevader in the
morning crew here with you today. Bill Handle will be
back on Monday. Just another round of applause for all
you kind people donating to the Union Rescue Mission this morning.
(15:04):
As Amy and I go over the edge today, repelling
down a twenty five story building to raise awareness about
the great work they do. Yourm dot org slash ote
for Over the Edge. If you want to donate, look
for the KFI Buttonaire big shout out to Phyllis Lofrida,
Dana Sobray, who else Maureen McGrath. Two hundred and fifty
(15:31):
dollars was donated anonymously in the memory of Charlie Kirk.
Very very sweet people are donating and it's very generous.
We have gone over and we'll keep reminding you because
we're thrilled to see that go to a good cause
that really do things for people. All right, Foody Friday
(15:54):
today a sushi bigger than ever in America. And if
you really go through the past, you can see that
it's an interesting transition at a time where back in
the day in Japan you could find it in you know,
vending machines, and it was still not heard of here.
(16:15):
It took took around thirty years for it to really
catch on here in the United States. That's how different
it was. One of the memories that if you were,
you know, growing up in the eighties like I did
the seventies and eighties, you might remember Molly Ringwald in
the breakfast club, if you remember, she pulls out a
bento box and it's got sushi in it, and they're
(16:38):
at the what was it Shermer High School or whatever
it was, and all the students are like, what the
hell is that? Well, more and more that has changed.
I mean, you go to a school now, chances are
they serve sushi there. You can go to the grocery
store and get great sushi, some of them, and you
(16:59):
could find you know, what is it, zen sushi, zench zenshi.
That's our favorite. That's what we got at the grocery store,
and that's what we keep good. It is so good,
and people go, really is that? I go, it is fabulous.
If you get an opportunity and you see zenhi sushi
(17:22):
at the grocery store, they do a phenomenal job with
their sushi, very very good. So now it's become this
kind of staple. But who would have thought that raw
fish and seaweed would find its way into the American
diet and into our hearts like it did, and it
really has. In the eighties, there was a lot of
mistique around it. You know, it's like, what is this?
(17:44):
And even though it was the norm in Japan. It
took us a while, you know. After a while it
just kind of took on. I once was told by
this really I thought this was the best flirting. I
was much better looking back then. I was single. This
(18:05):
beautiful woman we were having this conversation with at a
gosh at a bar or something, and she's like, if
you love sushi, I will marry you. It was a
very sweet comment of saying that she liked everything about me,
but that could be a deal breaker. And I thought
that was a very funny concept, that sushi could be
(18:27):
the deal breaker or the deal maker, I suppose. And
it took me a while to get to get into
the sushi vibe. And now I'm not supposed to eat rathings,
so I can't eat sushi the way I used to
because of my kidney transplant and my suppressed immune system.
(18:48):
But I tell you, when I have sushi on the
rarest of occasions, there's just nothing that compares to it. Now.
Doing research and interviews, whether it's sushi chef, marketers, or researchers, whatever,
they all agree that not only has sushi gained popularity steadily,
(19:09):
but that the pandemic pushed a very unexpected burst of
interest in sushi, so a big spike in our appetite
for sushi. And you know why, we all started cooking
at home. You remember making bread, doing all these things,
(19:32):
and we were trying to find ways to entertain ourselves
but also eating. We went through there were all those
stages of COVID and the pandemic and being locked up
right drinking heavily got I remember that. And you go
through all these different stages, and one of them was
cooking and baking and doing all these things, and then
(19:58):
you got a little tired of it, so you don't
are out and it would be pizza or burritos and
all that. And then to change it up, we started
to order sushi, something that we didn't think of as
a takeout item per se. And now you have all
these places where you can get great sushi. And you know,
(20:22):
the old joke about getting sushi at a convenience store
might be a little sketchy. I don't know if I'll
do that now, but at a grocery store, absolutely, Like
I said, Zenschi sushi hard to say, is fantastic. And
that's what we keep in our house. My wife likes
the veggie rolls, and we get those all the time,
(20:46):
but this is it. It took a while for us
to adapt to sushi and just the concept of its ingredients,
and now it's one of those things that is irreplaceable.
There is nothing if you have a craving for sushi.
The perfection of that sticky rice, the ingredients, the way
they are balanced against that rice, the salty sweet, all
(21:08):
of those things, the textures are like nothing else coming
together in that really simple bite. Nothing like it. Well,
we've taken to it. Now stick around. We're going to
announce the winners of the Zelman's, Bill Handel and Nil
Savedra dinner coming up on October eleventh at the Anaheim
(21:29):
White House, So go nowhere. Also Gary and Shannon up next,
So stick around. Neil Servader in the morning crew KFI
AM six forty live everywhere. What are we supposed to
be calling them? I just got a text? Where's ann
Is ann in there? Annie in there somewhere?
Speaker 5 (21:52):
No?
Speaker 2 (21:54):
KFI AM six forty alrighty, I'm just a little confused.
We're supposed to talk to Anthony from Zelman's. We will
get them on the line, but in the meantime, I
wanted to think of those of you that were donating. Again,
(22:17):
I guess we.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
Have to go.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
On.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
She's on it.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Can we say another thank you?
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (22:26):
We had a really nice note from Carol Hoffman said
the Union Rescue Mission has a great reputation. Wish government
funded organizations would follow their example. No kidding, Maybe someone
can repel down the building on my behalf, Carol, I'm
on it.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Victoria Reynolds donated. Thank you. Victoria. Love listening to you guys.
My morning wouldn't be the same without you. Lynn Krogue
Crowe kay r g h, thank you for all you do. No,
thank you. You guys are kicking ass. Of course, as
(23:02):
we raise money for the Union Rescue Minche Mission. We
are going over the edge today. Amy King and I
are repelling down the Hilton Universal City twenty five to.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Four of twenty five stories.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
Yeah, so about two hundred and fifty feet.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
It's pretty exhilarating, but I'm a big guy. It's weird.
Just I've never seen a building bend. It's it just
is kind of leans. Well, so going down it's a.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
That you were being like literal because when you look
over the look like it is well, but when you
look over the edge from the top, it looks like
it's more than ninety degrees. It doesn't look like the
building straight up and down anymore. It's absolutely it's very freaky.
It's very weird. Don't look down. So you are m
(23:51):
dot org Union Rescue Mission dot org. You are m
dot org.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Slash ote for over the Edge, look for the kfi stuff.
You can donate to me, you can donate to Amy King.
The reality is it all goes to the same place.
And we thank you kindly, deeply from the bottom of
our hearts for all that you're doing. It is huge.
They don't get federal money because they are a dry house.
You have to want to get sober and work and
(24:18):
learn to get back home, and that's what they're doing,
all right. My friend Anthony from Zelman's is on the
line with us. Hey Anthony, good morning.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Hey Neil, good morning. How are you.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
I'm quite well. How's that?
Speaker 5 (24:33):
Everything is great? Chair.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
I've loved listening to prepping to jump over the edge,
and I've procrastinated, but I did go on earlier this
morning and make a donation.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
I saw that listening very kind of you.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
Well, I hope everybody listening makes a donation, whether it's
five dollars, ten dollars, or ten thousand dollars.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
Let's watch Neil jump over and a great.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Cause they're gonna find a big splat and a bunch
of Zelmans that fell out of my pocket, which yeah,
but is gonna wow. He doesn't smell horrible and his
guts smell fresh. That's the parsley seed oil. So some
weeks ago we started announcing that we were going to
(25:20):
be doing a contest. We're gonna put Zelman's to the test,
both Bill Handle and me at our friends there at
the Anaheim White House. We're gonna have dinner. We're gonna
have garlic, onions, all kinds of really wonderful food to
put it to the test in person. Five lucky winners
and a guest. And people been hitting me up. I said,
I you know, they don't go through me. We'll find out.
(25:41):
And so we picked today to announce it. So drum
roll please, who are the winners?
Speaker 6 (25:49):
Okay, so the confirmed winners are Andrea Bee, who's already
responded and.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
She's excited to come.
Speaker 6 (25:57):
Bobby h is coming, and we've had a few people
who unfortunately had conflicts and decided they had something better
to do than to come and have the best meal
of their life.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
With you and Bill at the Anaheim White House.
Speaker 6 (26:10):
So we have to send I know we're sending out
to three lucky runner ups this morning, Mercedes C.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
Dan V and Michael W. Check your emails.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
You're going to get a very exciting email from Zelmans
this morning and hopefully you'll be able to come and
join us and have the meal of a lifetime and
get to experience Bill and Neil in the flesh.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
So there's still a chance for those you if those nobody,
if those three can't make it or something, and it'll
go to the next layer of folks and we'll choose more.
But that's super exciting.
Speaker 6 (26:45):
We're looking forward to that absolutely, and it's going to
be Saturday, October the eleventh.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
So if you have something, clear your calendar because you
could be getting a very exciting email from us this morning.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
That's wonderful. And of course you can go to Zelman's
dot com use the code fork for your discount. I
like to push myself. I'm competitive against Bill.
Speaker 5 (27:10):
Because he's going to be pushing you over the edge
in a couple of hours then.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
I'll do Yeah, stop, let's not kill Neil. And you know,
I would be curious about how much I bounce. I'm
not gonna lie, just as a science experience. I'd love
to see how high I get, at least on that
first bounce. I don't know, maybe that's just.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
Me like, but you make it floor?
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Yeah, thirty feet? That's awesome. All right, my friend Anthony
with Zelman's those are the winners. Look at your email
if you haven't already to check that out, check the
junk box or whatever, and we hope to see you
on the eleventh there at the Anaheim White House. Thanks Anthony,
appreciate you, Thank you, Bye bye, my friend. All right,
(27:55):
it has been such a wonderful two weeks. Thank you
kind for allowing me into your driving routine, your home
or wherever you are. I had a blast, I really did.
I love doing this and I do not take it lightly.
Bill Handle will be back on Monday. Thank you for
all the kind words and for any constructive criticism as well.
(28:17):
Stick around for Gary and Shannon and I will see
you tomorrow two to five on the Fork Report. This
is KFI heard everywhere on the iHeartRadio app, you've.
