Kamala Harris is set to reveal her running mate in the coming days.

The current Vice President will be holding her first rally with her new vice presidential nominee on Tuesday, August 6th US time.

The rally will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the campaign saying it will launch a four day “battleground tour”.

US Correspondent Mitch McCann told Ryan Bridge that the top contenders in this race are the Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.

He said that while the rally is taking place in Pennsylvania, the campaign is telling people not to buy into that when it comes to the pick.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Of Mitch mccannon's with us live from the States. Tom Mitch,
good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Good morning, Bridgie.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
How are you.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
I'm good, thank you? And has she when is she
going to announce her running mate? Is it in the
coming days or will it be in the coming weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's in the coming day. So the race for running
mate is nearing a conclusion. According to the Harris campaign,
they've revealed that the presidential candidate's going to hold her
first rally alongside her VP pick next Tuesday, like all time,
so Wednesday morning in New Zealand, and it's going to
be in Philadelphia. Now, there's some top contenders in this
race still, the Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly,

(00:39):
a governor from Minnesota, and the Secretary of Transportation beat
Pete Boodages. Now, this rally is taking place in Pennsylvania,
but the campaign says, don't buy into that. It doesn't
mean it's going to be Josh Shapiro the governor. They
insist no campaign decision has been made. And just while
I'm with you, Bridgie, there's new polling that's just come
out in the last few hours for Kamala Harris. That's

(01:00):
she has erased Donald Trump's lead and the number of
swing states. So now she's winning in Michigan, Nevada, Arizona,
and Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. North Carolina as still Trump, and
they're tied in Georgia. So this is a big comeback
in the Democrats.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
It is a massive comeback, although you could argue still
a honeymoon phase for her. And when I was looking
much as I'm sure you have been, two at the
biggest issues that voters are voting on. Number one is
the economy. You'd have to say that that would be
Trump's number two immigration, Trump's number three abortion is hers.
But on those big issues, he's got the edge over her,

(01:36):
doesn't he.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yes. Well, they've been attacking the Biden administration over immigration
for a very long time now. Around ten million immigrants
have come into this country reportedly illegally in the last
three or so years. They are accusing her of being
Joe Biden's border czar, the person that was really overseeing
this for the administration. So they'll put new videos out
in the last forty eight hours accusing her of being

(02:00):
the reason there are so many illegal immigrants in this country.
So I think that's something we're likely to see in
the coming months and in any debate if that actually happens.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yeah, Mitch, thank you. That is much McCann with us Stateside.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
