Sports reporter Andrew Alderson catches us up on the weekend that was in sport.

Liam Lawson was eliminated in his first Red Bull debut in Melbourne yesterday, and Mclaren showed it's the team to beat.

The Black Caps played Pakistan at the Hagley Oval in the second T20, the Kiwi's winning by nine wickets.

Warriors fans were in for a treat when the team took home a 36 - 16 win in front of a home crowd.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
To Andrew Ordison, Good morning to you.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Greeting's Andrew.

Speaker 1 (00:03):
Poor old Lilliam Lawson a slow and Q one broke
down in Q two and then crashed in the race.
That's a bad weekend, it is, it is.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
It's not the ideal start, is it really for William Lawson?
And well he was getting it together them. He's up
to thirteenth, they're out of pitt Lane. But yeah, when
you're crashing and then it doesn't doesn't boy, Well we
max for stuff, I guess for the overall team with
the second it's not so some sort of redemption is
it that? But Norris winning? But yeah, I think Lawson

(00:31):
with some week to do what ahead of the Chinese.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
He'd never raced that track before the first time in
the car. China next weekend, good luck. But look McLaren
is obviously the team to be.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Yeah, yeah, it's that. I mean again we saw that
the constructors last year, how tight it was and how
competitive it is, and it's an element to it. Yeah,
going into the next.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Week again now black Cabs versus Pakistan. Yes, hack the
oval looked a picture, didn't it, and it was full?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, you know, did last long though?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Well, look the first two overs from Carl Jamison. We're
a beautiful thing.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Oh god, he's just he's so hard to play. Just
that it's steepling, bounce, et cetera. And really showcasing himself
with what three for eight his overall figures. I think
Jacob Duffy getting four for fourteen in the end as well.
But you're just coasting beautiful victory.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
People were saying of Cours Pakistan has been playing on
terrible pictures. But we've been playing on those terrible pictures
too in the ACC Champions Trophy, and yet we cope better.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Well, it's about adapting, is it. And you think about
how many people or how many players top players missing
from that New Zealand first to eleven if you like.
But a great first junity for Michael brace Ll captening
at home for the first time at least kept in overseas,
I think, And yeah, putting together quite the overall showcase.
And mount Side for getting a few as.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Well, Yeah, exactly, Mount Smart magic for the worry is
that back? Baby? It's our year? Oh it was. I
was stunning display, wasn't it really?

Speaker 2 (01:52):
When you think about the how low things we're after
the opening week in Las Vegas. With the loss of
the Raiders, things looking great, but the Warrior is able
to turn around and convincingly really, I mean, what was
it in the thirty six sixteen double the school? Yeah, yeah,
just put them away. And there was a time that
I think was the first half I thought, I'll maybe

(02:12):
it's going to Tita here and they're merely getting into it.
But yeah they on.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
And yes was an imperious form.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Metcalf showing is but a skill there, good good science,
good stuff. For more from Early Edition with Ryan Bridge,
