Whether the United States will intervene in the Iran-Israel conflict remains up in the air.

President Donald Trump says he 'may' or 'may not' order American military involvement.

US correspondent Katie Fisher told Ryan Bridge the uncertainty is causing some rifts within the Republican camp.

She says that some of his “right-wing cheerleaders” like Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Green are saying that by entering the Iranian war, Trump would be turning his back on his America First policy.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
A white watch and whites Trump and his comments on
the situation in the Middle East. He's done a media
staying up a short time ago. Katie, for sure, are
US correspondent, Well, that's Caddy. What's he saying.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Well, he's not doing anything to end this speculation as
to whether or not the US is going to go
in and help Israel and its strikes in Iran. He
basically said, look, I may or I may not. Nobody
knows what I'm going to do. He suggested it wasn't
too late for negotiations. Still, but the Iran Supreme Leader

(00:35):
has dismissed Donald Trump's calls for an unconditional surrender, and
he has warned that the Americans should know that any
US military intervention will undoubtedly be accompanied by quote irreparable damage.
So we still don't have a clear idea of what
the US president intends to do, but we do know

(00:58):
that it's causing some rifts visions within his Republican party,
who generally up until this point in his second presidency,
have been completely in lockstep with him, supporting everything that
he's done, But here we see some of his right
wing cheerleaders like Tucker Carson, who used to be on
Fox News and Marjorie Taylor Green coming out and saying

(01:19):
that by going into this Iranian war, it would mean
that Donald Trump was turning his back on his America
First policy. He promised in his inauguration that he would
not be starting wars, he would be ending them, and
so this would go really against that. Then you've got
others like Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz who want

(01:40):
him to go forward and join as well in the
fight against Iran.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Katie, thank you for that up there, Katie Fusher, our
US correspondent. For more from early edition with Ryan Bridge,
listen live to news talks he'd be from five am weekdays,
