Wow? Thank you the show. That's a that's a new push you around
dictating your schedule. It's a Fridayafternoon, it's beautiful outside, it's three

What does it say right here? How you're doing? Yeah? I don't
(03:19):
know. I don't know. Cousindoing the background, I'm just gonna do
it in the background that I'm tryingto figure out how Anders got pushed around
by Jackson felts Man. Well, listen, Anders is a good friend of
mine and going to his birth Iwent to your birthday over the last weekend.
Anders. I gave you a nicebottle of something so that that was
kind of to try to ease youinto saying yes to this. I thought
(03:43):
that was for next week. WhenAndrews birthday last week, did you get
invited and no hell's going on here? Well we're friends, maybe we should
leave and you two. Yeah, yeah, that's awesome. We'll go four
hours. Gonna be honest with you, if you if you asked me to
fill in for you on a Fridayat three o'clock when it's seventy five,
(04:04):
a tight a suck it. Noway am I doing that. Man,
Well, either A Jackson's got somedirt on the out Anders or or B.
Andrews is just a great stand upguy, which is certainly possible.
Man, So Andrews, I'm tellingyou what right now, this guy owes
you one for sure. He goesthis is this is the place to be
man Cheney Stadium for tonight's game.Emerson Hancock pitching for the Mariners. There's
(04:26):
not a cloud in the damn sky. And by the way, people say
things like that and there's normally acloud or there is not a cloud in
the sky here. I mean thebiggest white thing we can see is the
top of Mountain right now, whichlooks amazing. So this is the place
to be. Come on down, bring the kids, bring the family.
Fun for all ages here in CheneyStadium, and we are in the where
are we at the michelob Ultra launchpad? Is where we are. I
(04:48):
don't think there's a spot in thisstadium that's not sponsored by someone. True,
I'm gonna worry a little bit aboutwhen four point thirty rolls around on
batting practice starts. Oh we areonly would you say, Jackson fifteen feet
from the left field foul pole.Us, there is gonna be we are
gonna be peppered in batting practice overfalk in front of you, guys.
(05:11):
So I'll just d you'd be upthere. You get a glove, We
need you to go over there witha glove by that foul pole. No,
he'll just use his ass. You'retalking about that? Hey, look,
I mean this is this is whatyou want, right You want a
chance to catch a fly ball. You want a chance to catch him batting
practice home run. When I wasa kid, my parents, my dad
would always take us to baseball gamesand we always, somehow, some way
ended up sitting in the same spotfor almost every single game. And that's
(05:32):
the left field stands. Every singlegame, the left field stands. And
this is back in the day.Guys, You and Andrews are too young
to have any idea. What thehell we're talking about? You sat in
the left field stands and you weren'tgoing anywhere. That was your spot.
You were like a inferior race ifyou sat in the left field stands.
Really, they would not let yougo anywhere. There was There was a
big gate on the concourse. Rememberthat. There was a big metal gate
(05:56):
that would keep you from entering thebox seats that would on the third base
side. There there there was afence. There was locked down. I
could not go through it. See, I was even cheaper than that because
I got the six dollars Southwest Cloudcrowd tickets and the two hundred level adjacent
to the Diamond Vision. So that'sthe only place I could go six dollars.
I was in college, Like, all right, let's go to the
(06:17):
game. Six bucks. Here wego. It's funny because they used to
have that fence on the concourse. But you'd ask what would be separating you
from walking through the seats right andgoing to the third base side. They
had a rope? Why that wastheir second I do that there was a
rope because it was nineteen eighty.Man, what's the point. There was
like seven thousand people exactly if that, if that, But we would sit
(06:40):
there and we'd show up and there'dbe balls sitting there for yeah practice,
there'd be oh there, grab acouple of balls. Man, you catch
some balls. It was a greatspot to be as a kid. So
we are in the michelob Ultra launchPad. That is the Commencement Bank Summit
Club. That is the eighteen eightytwo club brought to you by Multi Care.
There's an R bar and an Ryard here, and there's also a
dugout club brought you by Lucky Eagles. You know what this is today?
(07:04):
This is fast Track Friday. Doesthat mean ticket and specialty cocktail for fifteen
dollars? About that? You mightpay fifteen bucks for the cocktail itself.
Is there a spot in the stadiumthat we want to sponsor here for this
radio show? How about like theurinal cakes in the umpire's locker room.
We're worth that. We can putour name on that. How about the
(07:25):
how about the how about the shampoodispenser and the visiting shower. We can
Putti and Dick with Jackson urinal teams. Well, here's the deal. John
Russell is the manager of the Rainiers. I don't know, honestly, how
many people know that name, right, But he's gonna be with us at
coming up at four o'clock. He'sthe former manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He played for years in Major Leaguebaseball, man, Yeah, you probably
(07:48):
did. He played for the Philliesfor a while. The think he played
for Atlanta as well back in theday. But John Russell is going to
join us at four o'clock and talkabout what these guys are all about.
So you know, Dallas Kitle's downhere, class as here, some odd
Taylor's down here. Emerson Hancock ispitching tonight, but at the big league
level. Mariners at Kansas City, five games up on the Rangers tonight,
Bryce Miller versus Daniel Lynch the fourth. The Astros are at the Angels Texas
(08:11):
home against San Francisco. And Idon't know, man, this just kind
of feels like it's time for thisoffense to start kind of picking it up,
Like you know, they've they've hadtheir two months of fun and now
it's time to get serious, startingthis weekend in a place where you can
hit the baseball. Yeah, Imean, it's we've been playing baseball for
ten weeks, right, and aslump for a team is what two three
weeks long. You see teams gothrough two week three week slumps. This
(08:35):
has been a ten week slump, which gets me to think, is it
a slump or is it what theyare now? The chances of them being
worse than they are for the restof the year, I think are far
less than the chances of them beingbetter. But I don't think the chances
of them being much better are greaterthan them being exactly what they've been.
(08:56):
I just don't see the upside outsideof Julio Rodriguez. I don't see the
upside in this offense. Okay,so you don't see So let me bring
the numbers up real quick here assoon as a stupid advertisement gets off a
web browser. So you're looking ata baseball team in the Mariners that is
hitting. What are they hitting rightnow? Overall? What's their what's their
(09:16):
batting average as a team, becausebatting average is kind of done, let's
just look at ops. Yeah, okay, so as a team, the
Mariners twenty fifth ps is. Don'tlet me let me guess twenty seventh,
not back y six sixty. Sothe point is not at this point of
the year on June the seventh. The point is not really for me what
their ops will be at the endof the year. It's what they will
(09:37):
do starting to today into September.Because we already banked first place with six
sixty ops. Their OPS is notgoing to be phenomenal when the year comes
to an end because they spent twomonths in the toilet, right, So
forget what the numbers look like. What will it look like between starting today?
This is what we should look atwhen the year comes to an end.
Can they have a you know, all most seven hundred ops the rest
(10:01):
of the way because seven hundred putsyour right smack in the middle of baseball.
The Texas Rangers have a six toninety seven OPS. Minnesota is fifteenth
at six ninety eight. So ifyou if you were above seven hundred,
your right half of base we're atop half of a baseball if you're if
you're seven thirteen or above, yourtop ten? So can they do that
(10:22):
the rest of the way last year? Last year? Now ops is lower
than it was last year because lastyear the Marins were sixteenth and their ops
where would seven thirty four put you? This year? That would be number
seven in baseball. It was sixteenthlast year. That's how crappy offense is
in Major League Baseball this year.So they were sixteenth last year. But
(10:45):
wouldn't we all agree that that wasa better offense last year than the swager?
Yeah, I mean they just hadbetter baseball players, tay Oscar hernandez
Gino Suarez. They just had betterhitters last year. So to get to
sixteenth my be pushing it. Butif you can get to eighteenth to twentieth,
that probably means from here on outright, you are a fifteenth or
(11:07):
sixteenth best offensive base So I'm lookingat the two thousand and three season.
I don't know why I just chosethat randomly twenty twenty one years ago.
Maybe I should have done twenty andgone to this steroid era. Well,
the Boston Red Sox led baseball withan eight point fifty one OPS that year.
That would have been eighty points higherthan the best team in baseball right
(11:28):
now in the New York Yankees. That's how much offense has changed. So
let's just agree that we're gonna getto a point where the end of the
year numbers forget about it, becauseyou're five games up with this third offense.
If you can be a top tenOPS team or top fifteen OPS team,
whatever it is, the rest ofthe way, that's all I'm asking
for. I mean, never mindthe end of the season numbers. You've
(11:48):
kind of already blown that because ofthe way you started the first two months
of the year. So what canyou be the next two months? And
when you say you don't see it, I guess I'm just I mean,
I understand why you're saying that, because your eyes tell you that these guys
aren't very good. But you don'tsee Mitch Garver picking it up and doing
what he's done his entire career.Well, you don't see Polanco coming back
(12:09):
and playing the way he's played hisentire career. You don't see Hanniger picking
it up and just playing the wayhe's always played. So you're telling me
that the numbers that these guys areporting up right now is what you expect
them to do, because that's whothey are. Okay, let's start with
Mitch Garver. Yes, let's guesshow many three hundred and fifty AB seasons
or more as Mitch Garver had inhis career can I look it up.
(12:31):
No, I just guess three hundredand fifty. So you're talking how many
years as he played? He's playedsince twenty seventeen. Okay, I'm gonna
guess he's had three fifty or moreas that right and fifty eight bis,
I'm gonna say zero that is correct. So how do we know he's never
been a full time starter. Hemight be just a guy that had one
great half of a season in twentynineteen and then Polanco thirty one years of
(12:56):
age. I was beating the ColtonLong drum drum last year saying why he's
because for the hey, for thesame reason you're beating the Polanco drum right
now. Because I was looking atlike he's a three war guy. He's
a three war guy. This iswhat he is. He's gonna turn around.
He's gonna turn around, and ColtonLong never turned it around. So
(13:16):
I apologize in advance, Jorge Polonco, But you'll look to me like Colton
Wong. Wow, that's what youlook to me. So here's what here.
I here is Jorge Polanco's ops thelast three years eight twenty six,
seven, fifty one, seven, eighty nine and now he's at five ninety
five the twenty twenty year. Idon't know. Maybe this is lame to
do this, but I kind oftoss it for everybody because it was just
(13:37):
the COVID year whatever, sixty games. But before that he was at eight
forty one, he was at sevenseventy three. I think that maybe the
year he got suspended by the primeof his life. Though. Yeah,
but okay, but that's not he'sthirty, he's not forty. I mean,
we did this guy's got a fiveninety five OPS. Like just by
waking up and scratching, as youknow what, he should have a five
(13:58):
ninety five. He won't have afive ninety five OPS at the end of
the year. So if he canhave if he can have a six fifty
OPS at the end of year, that means he hit seven hundred right here
on out, which is great. But I gotta I gotta see some glimmer
of that happening, right, somesome glimmer, I I will. I
will tell you this. If Ihad had to rank my confidence level these
(14:18):
guys turning around, I would say, Julio with a bullet no question number
one, Julio, I would say, probably Polunko second, after a huge
gap under Julio, Mitch Hanniger justunder him, and then Mitch Garver consistently,
you know, well down just becauseMitch Garver has not done it enough
(14:39):
years in Major League Baseball to showthat he is that type of guy.
Well look, I mean, uh, it was supposed to be him and
Luke Railey, and you know allthose guys. Hannig are also getting days
off of the field, taking somespots in DH and splitting that spot up.
I thought over the offseason, atleast when we went to Peoria and
the and the thing got going inApril, that this DH spot looked dramatically
different than did a year ago.And we got Jerry Depono on the ear
(15:01):
talking about guys like Li Stella andCooper Hummel and you know Colton Wongs even
getting time every now and then atDH. So the names of the guys
you have now that are responsible forthe DH spots look dramatically different than the
clowns you had manning in that busta year ago. But it hasn't worked
out. So again, I'm justasking these guys to put together a solid
(15:22):
four months, hell, put togethera solid three and a half months.
Break it up week off here, week off there. But this offense should
be better than what they've done inthe first two months of the year.
And look they're pitching staff. Youknow, we had this conversation yesterday.
I was jumping on the on Twitterlast night and folks were asking about you
know what, Look, a batis obviously important, but are we certain
this team does not need to goout and get another reliever and hell,
(15:46):
maybe even another starting pitcher to parkdown here in Tacoma with a guy like
Dallas Kaiicel in case somebody gets hurt. Yeah, I think they do need
another reliever. It looks like theywant to bring up this kid from Double
A here pretty soon. They've beentalking about him a bunch. I think
you're gonna get Gregory s Anto's basketballback, which is gonna help. I
do think you need another reliever. And Jerry Depoto has been unbelievable in grabbing
(16:07):
the right guys for that bullpend. There's no question. But you know,
just kind of a final thought onthe on the offense, even if it's
just marginally better, between now andthe end of the year, you should
be able to run away with thedivision The only way you'll lose the division
is if the offense stays exactly whatit has been and the pitching takes a
dip. That's how you lose thedivision. If you get marginally better offense
(16:32):
and the pitching stays the way itis, you're gonna win this division comfortably.
But then it's all about your expectations. Is that your expectation just win
the division? No, it's not. So that's why you have to add
to make sure this offense is morethan just marginally better. On October,
well, look, if we're doinga show in Dallas right for r J.
Chappie Down there in Texas, theCount tovaen two three. You know,
(16:56):
you know it looks like the Countis that from Sesame Street, from
the Sesame Street. So you're sayingthe same thing about the Rangers. Hey
man, these guys are gonna heatup. This offense is not like what
did you say? The Rangers areseventeenth in baseball and ops, they're better
than that the Texas offenses, sothey will heat up. The Astros probably
(17:17):
will heat up. But think aboutthis, guys, the Astros are are
they twenty eight and thirty five? Now? The Astros I think that.
I think they're seven games under. And I was looking at this just for
shiggles and gets before the show began. Thirty five seven games under about the
longest winning streaks that each of theseteams have. The Astros are twenty eight
and thirty five with a six gamewinning streak, So outside of that,
(17:38):
outside of that one week, they'reat twenty two and thirty five. Baseball.
That's the one thing. A Mariage, that's what a disaster they've been.
I mean the Mariners in the inthose years when they're in the last
few years when they've been competing fora playoff spot, it's been twelve game
winning streaks, seven game winning streak, eight game they like, they get
hot in stretches and then they playedsubliner baseball. This Mariner team hasn't done
(17:59):
this. I'm looking at the longestI see four three of them, three
fours, three four game winning streaks. That's it. So that's pretty important,
Like you should be encouraged by that, because I would much rather have
a team that just goes through thecourse of the year with four game winning
streaks and says stays well about fivehundred than a team that plays sub five
hundred baseball for four months and hastwo eleven game wins. All right,
(18:22):
we're gonna break. Let's talk tosome Husky basketball. Great Osa Bor.
He's awesome, he's great. He'lljoin us next. The Mountain West player
of the Year. Why did hechoose you, dub I think we know
why, but we'll talk about it. Great Osa Bor the new star for
the Husky basketball team. He's makingmore money in NIL than any other player
in college basketball history. We'll seehow much of that he wants to discuss
(18:42):
next. On ninety three three KJRFMMile from the R and R Foundation Specialists
Broadcast Studio. Now back to Softieand Dick on your home for the Huskies
and the Kraken Sports Radio ninety threepoint two kJ r FM. Alright,
(19:03):
Friday after the live from Cheney Stadiumin Tacoma, Rainiers Aces tonight Reno versus
the Rainiers. That's the Diamondbacks affiliate. By the way, Emerson Hancock is
on the Mountain tonight for the Rainiers. So come on by and see Emerson
and the bump Quincy just rolled back. By the way, Wesley Yeates is
his cousin, which I told youfrom the start you are. And I
(19:25):
don't know why you had to golooking it up, man, just the
lack of trust that you have andmy information is funny. That's stunning.
People are actually driving around believing.I know that because it's true. All
right, joining us right now onthe radio show. There are many,
many, many, many new facesright Dick on the Husky basketball team.
But one of them I think alot of folks are real fired up for
(19:47):
is the Mountain West player of theYear from Utah State. He loves Danny
Sprinkle so much he has now followedhim three different times to three different schools.
Garados Sobor, the newest member ofthe Husky basketball teams, joining us
right now on the radio show.Great, how are you, man,
what's going on? I'm doing good. Thanks for having me. How are
(20:07):
you guys doing? We are good. It's great to hear your voice and
great to have you on the air. And I think the first thing that
people notice is the accent. Man, So tell us about your story,
because I see you're born in Spain, but you played in London, then
you went to Montana, then youwent to Utah. Now you're here in
Seattle. Tell me about your story. And how you got to this point
in your life. Man. Ohyeah, Obviously I was born in Spain,
(20:33):
and I was in Spain until Iwas like eleven, and then when
I was eleven, my dad's gotjobs by opportunity in England and then we
moved to England. And then Iwas in England for like twelve years,
no, twelve years until I'm fromBigs like twelve to like eighteen. And
then I went to Montana State forlike two years, and then Utah stay
(20:59):
one and now I'm here. Peopletalk about culture shock all the time,
you know, going from the eastcoast to the west coast, from the
north to the south. What isthe culture shock from England to Bozeman,
Montana. Now it was a belvIt was a Belvan shocks, you know,
obviously Bozmo, Montana. You hearwhen you're in the UK and you
(21:22):
hear about America America. You don'tknow, you don't really think Bozmo,
Montana. But Burmo was super cool. I had a good time when I
done there. The summer there sono one wanted to be about the winters.
Well I got it. Look,I gotta ask you first before we
get going talks some basketball. Becausefor a guy that spent time in Spain
and time in London, Uh,there's there's nowhere you've been in your life
(21:45):
where soccer was not king. Soare you are you a Manchester guy?
Are you a real Madrid guy?Are you a Barcelona fan? Who's your
team? Man? Tell us I'vealways been a real Madrid guy. Man.
My dad was a big room ofDrid time. So obviously obviously me
and him, he used to watchedall the games when I was younger.
(22:06):
Okay, well, but now you'rehere in South football and we want to
call it I'm really dig into it. I love it. But now you're
here, so you're a Sounders fan. People ask you who your soccer team,
He's are supposed to say the Sounders. So we got to get you
a game man and the Sounder.Do you know who the Sounders are?
By the way, Yeah, that'smy my favorite team. There you go.
(22:26):
Yeah, this smart quickly, helearns fast, well quick. Great
Osa Bar is with us on theshow. So tell us about your game,
man, because we look at thenumbers from Utah Stay a year ago
Mountain West Player of the Year eighteenpoints nine boards. A game that is
exactly what Washington and Danny Sprinkle arelooking for. For folks who have not
seen you play, tell us aboutyour game, man. I mean,
(22:49):
I'm a pretty bestyle player. Ithink I do a lot of things that
I love. Six eighty two fiftyguys been doing the basketball court. I
tried to impart winning. I thinkI'm I'm a really good teammate and I
just want to find wish to havethe team win. Right, I'll do
(23:10):
the little says. I'll do whateverthe team needs me to do, whether
that's score, whether that's rebound pastthe open guide, whatever we can do
to how the team win. I'mall for it. Well, great,
I watched you a lot in thetournament, and then I watched a lot
of your tape after you decided tocome here, and I wrote a little
scouting report on Twitter. I wantyou to tell me about the scouting report,
and if it's accurate, here wego, all right. I said,
(23:33):
excellent footwork, tremendous toucher on thebasket, fantastic passer for a post
player, solid shot blocker with goodtiming. Did I miss anything or get
anything wrong? I think you gotit got it right there, all right?
I love it. I love it. Well, hopefully you can bring
all those things to you done man, because again that's what Danny Sprinkle was
(23:53):
looking for. And great Osa baris with us on the radio show,
and I was actually talking to Dannyabout you off the ear. I said,
tell me, tell me kind ofan anecdote, you know, tell
me something about great Osa Bor.He says that you remember everything, he
says, you may. Your mindis like a steel trap. He says,
he remembers things I said in timeoutswhen he was a freshman from four
years ago. So tell me aboutDanny Sprinkling. Give, give, give
(24:17):
the fans here great a little bitof an idea of the kind of coach
that we're getting here in Seattle.Oh yeah, you getting the winner.
Man is the winner, Like,uh, he's one of them coaches.
Like he's gonna he's gonna coach ushard. He's passionate about what he does.
He loves basketball, and his biggestthing he was to win. But
(24:41):
he's allowed the right things. Youknow, we're gonna play basketball the right
way. We're gonna be a hot, tough playing team. And at the
end of the day, people forgetwhat the important things of basketball are,
but he makes sure we don't forgetabout it. When you look at the
type of him pact that Michael Pennixhad coming into the University of Washington as
(25:03):
a transfer and on their football team, I mean, do you think that
could be You ever think, hey, that that could be me this year?
I could have a Michael Pennix typeimpact on this basketball program. Man,
shout out Michael Penix. Man.He had a big, really big
impact for UL football. And obviouslyit was all watching it from afar,
so like, big respect to himand what he did last year. And
(25:26):
obviously if I can, I canoutside of impacts, I'll be really really
happy. I just want to helpyou the basketball win. I love games.
I think that's what I'm excited for. I feel like we have an
opportunity to come here and bring backto some excitement. I'm looking forward to
do that. I love it.Well. I'll tell you what if you
(25:48):
if you play for a national championshipthe way Mike did, I think we'll
all be pretty damn happy, man, No question about that. But great
is with us on the radio show. Do you have a favorite Danny Sprinkles
story? Is there anything any momentthey're anecdote that you have that you'd love
to share with people about about yourcoach. Uh, trying to think of
saying the best ones are the onesthat you can't say on the air.
(26:14):
By the way, tell tell oneof those. No, No, this
is a like he's just funny.Like I remember, we're playing, we're
playing, were playing, we werestay and like we we we lost that
game. We're watching til the nextday at like seven, and like he's
grilling that role for different type ofthings. And then like he I saw
(26:40):
I was up the hook or whatever, but he was really that wings for
not getting open or like posts suchas and he was like, if you
guys go open, then maybe wewould have had great passing the ball to
the seventh throw. And I waslike I sat down and thought about it,
Like I know we will stay, but been playing rough. So I
(27:00):
was like, it's just arounding great. Give us a name, a name
of a teammate, a Husky teammatethat we haven't seen play yet that we
will love the name of a Huskyplay. Yet you've only got like it's
(27:25):
like almost the whole team. Zoom. I'm excited. I'm excited for you.
Guys to see him. I'm atzoom on my visit d J Davis.
He shoots their life, so I'mexcited for you guys to see him
shoot the ball. I love it. Like I've seen like he's been.
He's been here working out. Oneof the best shooters I've met. Like
(27:48):
he shoots, it's really impressive.Ye great os bars with us on the
radio show. Transfer from Utah State, newest member of the Husky basketball team,
and look, man, I mean, I know it's something that you
don't want to really talk about, but obviously it's out there. The two
million dollar nil package that you gotto come to Seattle. I don't know
(28:10):
how much of that's accurate, howmuch of that was provided by you,
Dub. Whatever you want to shareis fine, but it sounds like that
maybe you're kind of I don't knowif embarrassed is the wrong word, or
uncomfortable talking about that. Tell usabout why that is, man. I
mean, honestly, I'm just here. I don't really get into all that
too much. I'm just here toclose your basketball, win games, and
(28:34):
be the best teammate I can possiblybe. Like, I want everyone to
have phone while playing basketball and tobe honest, I don't really get too
much into that. Luckily, Ihave a really good EGGE agent who handles
all that, so I don't haveto worry. But I'm just here to
play winning basketball and be the bestteam that I can. Got you,
(28:55):
Well, it's obvious that a tonof teams wanted you to play for them.
I think that's that's probably pretty obvious. Were you close to going anywhere
else? Yeah, for sure,I was. It really came down to
like my final fall obviously, Likethere was a lot of schools recruiting me.
Bught, like those those Louisville typesof stuff, and Kentucky was probably
(29:18):
like the last three that I camedown to. But by the end of
the day, I trusted Coach sprinklethe first I went out into the portal.
I trusted him when he trusted meout of high school. I had
two offers, you know, andno one really believed in me that coming
out of high school. I onlyhad two offers, but they did.
And every every time I like,I was shown like trusting Sprinkler, he
(29:41):
shown trusted me like it's paid off. And obviously when my parents came,
the decision was super hard because allthe other sports were really good, Like
the coaching staffs were elite, amazing. I mean all the schools. I
really liked it. But you know, like someone trusting me from the beginning,
I felt that it was just lifeto trusting him again. I'll see
how fine I can take me.You know, I love it. Well,
(30:03):
we're fined to have you, man, I can I wait to see
you guys in November and what youcan do on the basketball court. So
go get him, and if youneed tickets for a Sounders game, we'll
take care of you, all right, pal, okay, man, I'm
excited to let us do it.No what, no doubt, all right,
man, go get him. Great. Thanks again, we'll talk down
the road, buddy. So thanksfor having me. You got a great
(30:23):
osa bor go dogs with us onthe radio show, Man says Louisville,
Texas Tech Kentucky. You dub,I think you Dub is in a spot
now where a lot of folks willbe looking at mont Lake and probably because
of him in the in the package, you got no question. I'm interested
to see how long he stays here. Yeah, because he's got eligibility left.
(30:44):
This isn't a one and done typesituation and great Osa born. I
was gonna ask him this if weran out of time. He's only taken
eighteen three pointers in his college basketballcareer, and at six' eight,
if you want to play in theNBA, you can't take eighteen three pointers
in a call basketball career. Sohe's got to establish that part of his
game if he ever wants to goto the next level. As great as
(31:07):
a passers, great footwork he has, he has to become a shooter,
and it might take more than oneyear for him to do that. We
should have told him the two millionthat that's for two years. Bell,
all right, you gotta you gottacome back for one more. That's not
that's two million. If we're givingyou two, you're giving us two.
Is that fair? I think it'sfair. Three forty old Funnel with audio
and then John Russell, the managerof the Rainiers here in Tacoma, gonna
join us around four. If youmiss Jet Fish yesterday two in four to
(31:30):
twenty this afternoon right here on ninetythree three kJ RFM, It's now time
for Someday in Dick's fun with Audio, Jimmy g Pawn Star, Jimmy Mister
Garoppolo. Now let's have some funwith audio. Right back here in Tacoma.
Rainiers manager John Russell h will joinus, coming up at four o'clock.
(31:55):
He was a pro from eighty twoto ninety four, played in ten
Major League gears with the Philly Bravesin Texas, and the former manager of
the Pittsburgh Pirates caught Hall of FamerNolan Ryan's sixth career no hitter. By
the way, he'll join us,coming up at four o'clock. Jed did
the fish. If you missed thehead coach of the Huskies from yesterday,
do not make that same mistake again. Does Demon Williams have a chance to
(32:17):
start at quarterback over Will Rogers? You'll find out at four twenty Right here
on ninety three to three KJRFM.All right, Dick, how about some
fun with audio? Hey, didyou happen to hear that? What's that?
Dick? We starred on WFAN inNew York City yesterday, one caller
claiming that Yankee broadcaster Susan Waldman suggestedto him that the recently retired John Sterling
(32:43):
could be replaced by Mariner broadcaster DaveSimms. This name has been thrown out
to me Dave Simms. Okay, interesting, now, doctor Joe, you
say you're close to that Yankee booth, meaning that you're friendly with John and
Susan and who's the producer there thatdoes all the stuff whatever and Justin Shackle.
(33:06):
So you're friendly with all these guys. I know them all. I'm
not allowed to say why because ofhippo laws. Interested, so you brought
you the broadcast doctor, the radiobroadcast doctor, right, yes, the
radio broadcast doctor. So when anythinghappens, they okay, hey, who
(33:30):
told you that Dave Simms was gettingthe job? Well, that's just a
name that came up. I don'twonder for me, you know who it
was. I don't care that wasthe name, did, Joe? I
mean, you seem like you've beenaround for a while. You're on the
radio. Hear your moment of theday. Guy, what's the more?
Second happened? You throw out thename of the person that told you that
(33:52):
Dave Sims was getting the job.Seriously, someone who's still working in the
booth. Oh, Susan, Susan, Susan told you. Susan. Don't
do that. She just threw there. You go, okay, comation,
Yeah, that's fine. So dowe believe the doctor who called w F
(34:14):
A n and said, I'm hearingDave Simms. I'm here because you know
where Dave Sims lives, by theway, he lives in New York.
Since it makes right, it makesa lot of sense. I would love
it for Dave. I would hateit for us. Of course, he
is awesome. I mean I'd hirehim if I were the Yankees, I
personally, personally, and this isno offense to Dave, because I love
Dave. I think he's a betterfootball guy than he is a baseball guy.
(34:37):
And he's a great baseball guy.But you know where I first heard
Dave Simms right Sunday Night Football, west Wood One, and I was like,
are you kidding me? We justhired that guy. And he was
doing NFL forever for west Wood One, and he did college basket. An
unbelievable Creates triple overtime game I watchedsome Saturday this this year was unbelievable.
(34:58):
I guarantee you the Yankee job morethan a Mariner job. Karen freaking see
of that, no question. Sohey, I mean, there you go.
If it happens. The doctor whocall it in first doctor. The
wfan was the first guy to callit. All right, Hey, Dick,
did you happen here that? What'sthat? What's that? Dick?
What was my record? Seventeen seconds? Is that right? A couple of
days ago, I might be inthe mood to break that. All right,
(35:21):
Oh no, we'll find out.Go back to number one. There.
Andrews. During a press conference yesterdaybefore the start of the NBA Finals,
commissioner Adam Silver updating the timeline forthe league expanding now that the media
rights deal is closer to getting finalized. I think I said a few years
ago, collect the bargaining agreement, new media deals, then we would turn
to expansion. So we got partone done clearly, and thank you Player's
(35:44):
Association. We're very happy. Ithink both sorryes are we're turning to collective
bargaining agreement media deals. It's beena long process, it's ongoing, and
we know to wrap it up,you know, in a relative near term,
and then we will turn to expansion. But by turning to expansion doesn't
mean that we're gonna announce that nowwe're ready to add teams. Means that
(36:04):
there'll be a committee of NBA governorsthat will focus on it because clearly markets
out there that are very interested, and we'll run through a process. Okay,
first of all, you've known mefor a long time. What do
you think I'm gonna say about thatclip right there? What am I gonna
say about that clip? Differently? Here? Did you get that from a
producer standing in the back of theroom. Is from a first one on
the first row. There's no audio, NBA dot com, NBA TV,
(36:25):
whatever that we could have grabbed thata version. You know that stuff drives
me nuts, right, I knowit drives me. And I spent too
much time actually listening to what hewas saying. I heard the entire thing
and I and I heard it yesterdaythis morning him he's mentioned the expansion and
by the way, the timeline forwhen he says, committees and the Board
of Governors, that's gonna go likelight. Yes, that's gonna be very
(36:45):
very very fast. So it's happening, man, I have no problem.
And maybe I shouldn't do this becauseyou never know, you can jink something
whatever knock on water plastic, whatever, hello is tables made of. I
think that this is gonna happen veryfast, and I will stick with my
original prediction, which is, bythe end of this year, we're gonna
know I'm with you, all rightwith you? I think we both agreed
upon that. Like last fall,he said, by the end of twenty
(37:06):
twenty four, we will have anannouncement on a date of when the Sonics
will start. And there is thereis nothing that has happened. You have
to move me back on that atall. I get your stop watch?
Ready? Here? Oh, here, stopt. We really have to Yeah,
because I'm feeling good. We wantto take one more small sip of
this. No, all right, ready, here we go. All right,
Hey, Dick, Yes, didyou ten? It's fifteen? Record
(37:45):
broken? All right, stop yourrecord broken. Don't make it too long.
You won't be able to break itnext time you make it. Yeah,
happy to hear that was that,David? Oh what's that? Dick?
That was terrible? How about that? Right? So many people enjoyed
that. Sitting in traffic last nightthat after the Mavericks lost Game one to
(38:05):
Boston, Dallas guard Kyrie Irving tooka bit of a shot at the Boston
crowd during Game one. Early inmy career, there was a different relationship
that I had with Boston just beingable to come here de settle with a
veteran group. Now I'm here asthe veteran over the past few years,
just experiencing the playoffs here, evenregular season, it's it's been the same
thing. I thought it was gonnabe a little louder in here, but
(38:29):
I'm expecting the same things going intoGame two. Crowd trying to get me
out of my element, my teammatesout of my element. But again,
the energy's got to be focused towardsthe game. I love it. I
love it. I love it.You know why, because idiot Kyrie is
back and it took one went hewent over five last night. They got
hammered in game number two or numberone, and those fans are gonna crush
(38:51):
him when he walks out of thatcourt on Sunday. I totally disagree.
That was a calculated move by KyrieIrving. He feeds off that stuff.
Loud, the booze, the better, and Kyrie is going to go off
in game number two. Yeah,my word, they were loud in game
one. They were loud in gameone. No, no, I don't
see it. What's the over underon points for Kyrie? You're thinking Yeah,
(39:13):
I bet it's twenty three. I'lltake the under, take the under,
I'll take the loser. Get smackedin the face by the other one
live on the air on Monday. You cool that we're gonna break. John
Russell, the manager of the Rainier, is gonna come by and join us,
and then Jeed Fish at four totwenty Right here on ninety three to three KJRFM
