Speaker 1 (00:00):
Rolling into the five o'clock hour. I was going to
ask you about Jaylen Milroe at four, but I got sidetracked.
That happens sometimes my brain just goes into different directions.
And we got a nice into a nice conversation about
college football. So we got me and his take on Milroe,
we got lan Zerline's take on Milroe, and Hugh. I mean,
the question that I have for you on Jaylen Milroe,
(00:22):
who was in Seattle this week, who Greg Bell mocked
to Seattle in the second round early this morning in
his in his piece. So it's not I think it's
a relevant conversation to have here in Seattle. It's not
out of nowhere. But I mean, the question I have
for you is simply, is are his deficiencies somewhat teachable
(00:48):
to the point where you think that he could be
at some point a starting NFL quarterback? Because obviously, in Seattle,
with a twenty seven year old quarterback, we don't need
a quarterback in twenty twenty five, don't need a quarterback
in twenty twenty six, We may or may not need
a quarterback in twenty twenty seven. So is this something
with this freak athletic ability that that would be good
(01:09):
to stash away for a couple of years here.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Well, it just depends on what you think you can fix,
and there's a lot that needs to be fixed on this.
I've watched a good amount of tape. I'm gonna watch more,
but you know, there's an accuracy and there's a processing
problem that shows on a relatively consistent basis. And the
(01:32):
problem is that when he's good, it's really electric. It
reminds me of Anthony Richardson. I can remember making the
comment I've studied a lot of Florida tape and I've
yet to see one college level rep because every rep
that I see is either an NFL gorgeous throw or
(01:53):
it's a high school like it's JB High school. And
there's some of that with Milroe, you know, for example,
to put on the Auburn tape the right the Iron
Bowl like that's their arrival. There's a couple of throws
that are just wow, he has the right hash. He
throws this far far corner rout deep down the field,
hits a receiver just like walks it to him. Beautiful
(02:17):
way out out there. They ran a it looked like
almost like a triple post. They ran a overwrouted by
the inside slot, and then they ran a double post
combination where he hits the widest guy down the field.
Now the receiver ended up dropping it was well covered,
but he just he just dropped it right down the chimney.
Gorgeous throw. But in that game, he throws a steam
(02:38):
route like like hideously late, just doesn't process like it
was as if he was throwing routes on air, like
didn't even have any concept that there's defenders there that
can intercept the ball, and so he throws the picks there.
Then then he has a Texas route. A Texas rount
is little angle route to a running back that's just
(02:58):
you start to the flat and then you right over
the middle. I mean the guy's like four yards in
front of It's just like it's like a laying in basketball,
and he just skyle nails it just right over the
top and almost gets that pick and then you know
throw On the bowl game against Michigan, he throws a
wheel route.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Where it's an ap pressure.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
He's anticipation the out and up goes up and he
throws it right into the zone. Just gorgeous, like Aaron
Rodgers es pick a quarterback, Pat Mahomes pick a quarterback.
Joe Montana pick a quarterback. It's beautiful. But now they're
down in the red zone and he throws a fade route,
just a simple fade route down by the goal line.
(03:39):
He underthrows it by five feet and it should have
been picked. The receiver had to It was open, it
was wide open, and he did it was like hideously underthrown.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
They get to a third down.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
A couple of plays later, they ran a concept called China,
which is the two whitest guys running these five yard
INDs and a corner, very ubiquitous route in the NFL
in college and high school for that matter. I mean,
I can't even tell you how many touchdowns that that husky.
You've seen Husky quarterbacks throw this on and the third,
(04:10):
the third, innermost guy runs a corner out. That's all.
He's the innermost guy. There's a lot of space. You
just got a process and it shows clean. There's times
where it's murky, like the corner's off and you go, oh,
I got to make sure this corner doesn't sink underneath
the corner who's guarding the widest receiver. We want to
make sure he follows the widest receiver in and me.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Throw it over.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
So this is this is by standards of this China concept.
This is open and and there's a lot of space
because you're throwing to the third guy in and it's
just open.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
He's just like late, late late. Then he throws an
accurate barble.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Guess what Because he's so late, it's caught out of
bounds like not and and there wasn't even a chance
to drag your toe. And so it's just this kind
of this kind of stuff over and over again. But
then he comes back and and he throws a touchdown
on a on a verts con tight tight wing where
the tight end widens and expands, goes up the field
(05:07):
and he and he throws a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
So the good stuff is good.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
The bad stuff by by by professional standards. What what
you would if you just throw on tape and you say, Okay,
I'm thinking about drafting this guy second day. What should
I expect to see some some impressive wow throws? And
I know I'm gonna see some mistakes. But how bad
(05:32):
are the mistakes going to be? Are the mistakes close
to being?
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Is?
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Are we close to being on his mistakes are not close.
His mistakes are are are like ufa undrafted free agent
right like like they're just they're very egregious. So again
I'll go back to what I said, how how confident
are you that you can fix this stuff?
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Well, I'm wondering if Anthony Richardson might even be a
cautionary tale because there are some comparisons there, and they drafted,
you know, Anthony Richardson was drafted by the Colts fourth. Overall,
I'm wondering if Anthony Richardson had a you know, has
had a good had a good career thus far, if
people would see Jaln Milros like, Okay, well they fixed
Anthony Richardson, maybe they can fix Jalen Milroe. But since
(06:17):
they haven't fixed Anthony Richardson, maybe they're afraid of Jalen.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I don't think there's any question about it. I think
if Anthony Richardson right now had been bawling out, you know,
maybe he struggled in September of his rookie year, and
then he's just been you know, just like exponentially just
graphing upward and he was really judged to be really quality.
I don't think there's any doubt in my mind it
would be influencing how we see Milroe, because right now,
(06:42):
you just feel like with Anthony Richardson, you're you're chasing
traits and trying to ignore those awful high school plays
that were on the tape. But you just go, here's
a big dude. Now, Anthony Richardson sixty four Milroe six
to two. Anthony richards is like two forty four. So
Anthony Richardson was even in some ways more.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Of a freak. Not za though.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Oh boy, you'd be surprised. I'm willing to concede without
looking at it that because well, Anthony Richardson is damn close.
I'll get his combine. Hang on, well, keep talking, because
it's not gonna make good air.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Four four yeah, you're right, four four three. I got
four four three nine for Milroe, four four three for Richardson.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
So combine, he was officially, uh four four three at
the combine.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
And what did you say Milroe was.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Well, Milroe was was timed at pro day at four.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Three nine, but that may have been handheld at the combine. Uh,
Richardson was four to three nine hand held? Okay, four right? Yeah,
So they're about the same then, So he's got he's got,
you know, basically twenty pounds on him. So Anthony Richardson
was just a complete, you know, something out of some
(08:03):
kid inventing on Xbox, you know, like let me, let
me just nuke every actual Yeah, but a one hundred athleticism
on the size and blah blah blah. Who forget about
these high school jv Let's just draft him forth overall.
And and look, I understand that we're far from over
(08:24):
on Anthony Richardson, that that career, that PostScript has not
and should not be written. But I will also assert this,
if you could give what is it Ballard Howard Ballard
the GM for Howard something that's Ballard, something for the Colts,
for the Colts. If you could say, right now, hey,
(08:46):
you got sixty seconds, you got to make a decision.
I got a magic crystal ball. Chris you can you can,
Chris Palace, you can go back and and undo that pick.
Now you don't get the crystal ball to see anybody
else what they would have done. But you can undo
that pick and just go with somebody unnamed different. You
don't get to know what they did. We can send
(09:07):
you back in time and you get to undo that pick.
He'd absolutely go back and undo that pill.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Question about it.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
I heard something today as we was he transitioned to
another guy that visited the Seahawks. I heard today.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
I think it was.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Coward that said this. You know, Trevor Lawrence is younger
than Tyler Shuck. And I was like, well, that's just
that's just coward being you know, because he also said
Rudy Gobert is like seven to four today, So you know,
Coward throws out numbers today that you know, he throws
out numbers sometimes that are just like purposefully exaggerated. And
I thought this was perfectly perfect exaggerated, and it wasn't.
(09:44):
Tyler Shuck is older than Trevor Lawrence, who feels like
he's been in the NFL since like nineteen ninety seven,
so he was visiting. He was visiting the Seahawks this week,
and you've talked a little bit about him, But refresh
our memories on on what you think about Tyler Shuck
and how much of an issue would it be to
(10:05):
you that you would be drafting a quarterback that will
turn twenty six years of age this football.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
See yeah, yeah, no, I've known about Tyler Shuck a
long time. I mean, when my son was recruited to Oregon,
they were saying, you know, you'll he'll come in to
recruit or compete against Tyler Shuck to be justin Herbert's backup. Right,
So I've been aware. Shuck was one year older than
my kids. So I've watched his career at Oregon. I
(10:33):
know I watched it at Texas Tech. I watched it
at Louisville. My kid actually roomed with him for a
little while. And surprisingly, you'd think I would either because
of that, I would either be like inclined to be
like screwed Tyler Shuck or like, hey, for whatever reason,
I'm like pro Tyler Shuck. I'm just telling you, whether
you want to believe or not, I'm shockingly neutral.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
You're an agnostic on Tyler Shuck.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Yeah, that's a fair way to put it. I'm like
shockingly neutral rule on uh uh yeah. Agnostic I think
technically means I'm without knowledge, right, uh right?
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Without yeah, with well, it's without it.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
I know what it means.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
And and yeah, I know it means that you haven't
decided whether you believe in God or right, right, but
but anyway, let's move off of that. Okay, But but
Tyler Suck here's a guy. I'll say this. I thought,
I thought the combine really helped this dude because he's
one of the few guys that ran a forty. I
don't understand. You know, for twenty seven years of me
doing draft coverage, I've always been able to check on
(11:36):
quarterbacks forty times, just you know, for s's and g's right, right, right,
and and now we can't do that because these guys
aren't running forties. But Tyler Suck did and it was good.
It was I think it was four six' eight for
a guy who's six.' five he, moves well he's got a,
strong arm and in, the combine he just he had the.
(11:58):
Best drops like his drop from center was faster and
smoother than everybody else that was. Performing THERE and i
Understand that shaduer and Uh and cam as many of
these top quarterbacks are want to do they, you know
they take a they take a pass. On This But
jackson dart, was throwing and are you higher on Shook?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Than, DART WELL I i i do think there's a
possibility that that shuck has.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
The the the boxes to really be a high.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
LEVEL quarterback i mean he's got.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
A toolbox i mean he's a big dude that moves
well and he has a. Strong arm but, you know
you know that's That's Maybe daniel jones. As well so
just because you check those boxes doesn't mean that.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
You'll Perform But daniel jones might have performed if he
would have Gone To.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Well shanahan you, you know we've.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
DISCUSSED THIS I i I Think daniel jones has probably
been the quarterback who's been screwed the most in the
last four years of, any quarterback, you know you just
look there by, THE way i don't think He's The
Pro football focus offensive, Line rankings seattle is the worst
over the last.
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Fifteen years look. It up i've got.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
The numbers twenty five point one is the. Average ranking
but over the last, Four years seattle is the, second
worst And the giants are the. First worst like, you
know You Know, saquon barkley who couldn't get three point
eight yards for attempt Behind, The, giants uh, you know
then goes to and he's four point eight With, the,
Eagles right so any rate enough Of the giant.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
OFFENSIVE line I think tyler shuck is is a. Talented guy,
you know he.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
Had injuries, you know he broke his his, his tibia
he had his. Shoulder injury but there's something there, AND
he i don't want to say a, late bloomer but
you put him in the, right situation he absolutely warrants a.
Long LOOK and I think i think he's got a
chance that he's he's pushed himself into the second round
(13:56):
because of.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
These trades one other guy that came to Visit the seahawks,
this week and you know it would it would never
be too much to believe That the seahawks would draft a.
Corner high they've done it, many times including With. With
witherspoon but They hosted Michigan Corner, will johnson who you've
seen on film and you've seen live and you know
at the stadium as well And At. Husky stadium so
(14:20):
what's your what's your Take On? Will johnson?
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Is he?
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Is he is he a lockdown corner or is he,
you know one of those guys that you know you
can see having a, nice long, you know ten twelve,
year career but maybe never Making A.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Pro, BOWL no i could see him be in a.
LOCKDOWN corner, i MEAN and I think i think. HE'S
tough i think he has. GOOD RECOGNITION I i i think,
you know you've got that that Piece where mike McDonald
feels comfortable with him, and right and and maybe you,
(14:54):
know this but, real Quick if seattle had to play a,
game tomorrow who's the?
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Starting corner.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Keep in mind that that that it's a eleven, personnel
league and so Assuming that witherspoon is, the nickel you're
looking at, the computer, you're cheating trying.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
To think because they got to let go of a
couple of them that played, last year that's a. GOOD
call i don't know who would, It Be. Josh, job
yeah so you know they may, feel, like hey that's.
Not enough uh we need we need.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Damn.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
MORE now I Think josh job flashed, some stuff but
it's not, you know they took two corners in the.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Sixth round, they're.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Okay there are we giving up On, H no but
but you gotta have somebody on the.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Other, SIDE no I. Like tarik i'm not giving Up
on tarik.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
AT all I just I just i look at CORNERS
and I and I just i study him AS if
i was In, the LEAGUE and i was playing against Him,
on sunday, you know like like like what how much?
Concern THEM do i want to go after? That dude
OR do i want to BE like whoa better be
careful than? That GUY and I think I Think greek
wolan there's more like whoa? That guy that guy you
(16:09):
know he can he can kind of stun you because
his ceiling is, so high like his what he's capable
of doing is is uh is. Pretty special, so, no
No but i'm, just saying you got to play with,
two Corners And reek wolverspoon is primarily An Inside.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Guyreek witherspoon would be an awesome corner because he'd give
you the size.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Of WHAT did i?
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Just say, He said witherspoon freaking hybrid. Corner man that would. Be, awesome.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Now as long as we get the.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
BEST attributes, I Mean christy Binkley Married billy joel and
their daughter Looks Like billy joel and sings Like Christ.
Christy brinkley to be very if we're doing this science
experiment and we're, blending, THEM RIGHT i.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I don't i don't want the.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Worst and the Talent Of. DEVIN witherspoon i like at
five twenty on ninety three POINT, three kjrfm we. Come back,
you know a huge a lot of times is asked
by the thirty third team think tank to. Break down
they give him topics and, They're, like hugh go, to
work and they gave him the TOPIC that i Think
all seahawk fans would be, interested in and that is
(17:18):
give us a compare and Contrast Of geno Smith and
SAM donald, i mean if you're out there In a
seahawk fan and you're not interested in what you have
to say, ABOUT that, I mean i don't know what
to tell you. Five twenty that's coming up next on
ninety three POINT. Three kjrfm you're.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Listening to the home Of, the Huskies, the Kraken and
SEATTLE'S Best nfl draft coverage in the twenty TWENTY Five.
Nfl draft now Back To, suthian dick proudly brought to
You By Emerald queen Casino On sports radio ninety three
point THREE.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Kjr, Fm, so.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Hugh before we get into your Breakdown of Geno And
sam donalds with the thirty, third team let's for people
that have heard the term thirty third team but probably
don't know exactly what. It is how did you get
involved in what exactly is the thirty?
Speaker 3 (18:05):
THIRD team i was asked.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
To join the thirty third team is Headed By, mike
tannebaum the former general manager Of the Jets, AND dolphins.
I believe but it's primarily. Personnel Guys bill pollian is.
On there You'll See, RICK spielman, i mean but but
there's Coaches That chris peterson was. On there i'n't seen
(18:29):
him in a, little Bit But chris peterson used to be.
A regular, i mean you just see all kinds of
coaches and gms that that.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
You recognize and.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
There's usually about eighty people on the on the on
the zoom that we Do, every wednesday and.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
They take a different Topic, every wednesday and it's there's usually.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Three, topics okay, all right they usually take three topics in,
an hour and it's just.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Highly intelligent football people talking.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Ball BASICALLY well i don't know if all of us,
are intelligent but but there's people a lot of experience in.
The room, you Know rich gannon is a regular. On
there he's asked to present and yet, you know and
if you're asked, to present, you know we JUST.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Had.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Rnde barber, for example he's In the Hall Of fame
corner and he presented On On travis hunter as a
corner strictly as, a corner and and he talks to,
you know he breaks down, the tape he, shows examples
and then he, He, says okay this is, you know
just kind of how he breaks the.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Guy down so.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
And so they wanted you to compare and contrast just
because one Was a seahawks quarterback and another was in
another way Is a. Seahawks QUARTERBACK and, I thought i think,
The fans if Fans in seattle aren't interested, IN this
i don't think anybody else.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Would, be, so yeah the.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Direction, you, want, yeah well the the obviously the. Video
helps to be able to, do this, YOU know i,
had to, you know you have to come up with
about fifteen plays that tell, a story, you know of
who they are and what they've been and and you
know there's pluses and minuses, for both, you know in terms,
of geno, you know the the clutch. Factors there from
(20:10):
twenty twenty two to twenty, twenty four he had twelve
game winning drives that was second IN the nfl over
that Span to mahomes and in twenty twenty three, at
five which led LED. THE nfl i think that, You
know gino has a, big arm Just Like. SAM donald
i think their athleticism is similar, their size and really
(20:31):
one of the things THAT that i focus on on
On why seattle would want to make the change. Under
center here's some stats under the percentage of PLAYS. For
gena i'm, Gonna. Listen geno this, Is ranking so if,
you're one would be, the highest thirty second would be. The,
Lowest okay so percentage of plays UNDER center gino, Twenty
Nine sam donald three passing touchdowns Under center gino's, Rank
(20:55):
Sixteenth sam donald FIRST rating, Geno Sixteenth sam donald. First attempts, you, say,
well okay that's those are. Efficiency numbers what about Just
the how about THE frequency geno nineteenth, In Attempts sam. Donald,
Second Okay so seattle wants to get. Under center it
helps the, running game it helps the, stretch game play
(21:18):
action yards PER attempt gino, Thirty Fourth sam donald fifth
yards per attempt went. Under center this complements the. Running
game when we talked about the stretch and what. Have
you gino, Twenty Seventh sam, donald second. Big, Plays now
gino's a big. Play guy passer rating on plays where
(21:39):
the ball is over twenty yards in The year, Gino's
Ninth sam. Donald's first so, so there, you know and
so we show examples. Of that BUT but i think
that really, for me, you know and and this is
just a result of a long time. Just me i'm
not trying To say I'm the bible or or to
(22:00):
convince anybody else That that i'm. Writing this but the,
real key the. Real KEY when i look at, A
quarterback i LOOK and, I, say okay what did you choose?
To do what's the degree of difficulty and what is
the opportunity cost of what you chose? To do you
chose to, do that if you chose to throw a,
(22:21):
check down how if could have you been? More aggressive
or if you, were aggressive should have you been? More
conservative and you just kind of play the? Probability out
and here's the key in, my opinion why is it
that we only have fifteen Freaking men american men On
planet earth in our. Entire country we only got fifteen
(22:44):
men who are?
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Good?
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Quarterbacks right how you want to say there's eighteen, Or,
TWENTY yeah i want to say there's more. About, ten
yeah it's. About it it's between ten. And twenty It's
The united it's football is the number one sport by,
a like do you really need me?
Speaker 1 (22:57):
To pray because it's the hardest position to play in,
my opinions throwing the Ball isn't we got dudes that
have adequate frame who can throw.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
The, ball well it's like going to A, college UH
the ncaa. Golf tournament you got plenty of guys on.
The range we're big enough and hit the ball far
enough and look, damn good knocking down six irons on
the pins and they pull out the driver and they
hit it. A mile that's. Not it we got guys who,
can throw but it's. Anticipating it, to me you look and,
(23:32):
You say i'll put it.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
LIKE this i think a.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Baseball analogy we're gonna we're gonna bring baseball, and FOOTBALL
and i think you'll be able to. Follow this this
is what's hard about being quarterback in. My opinion let's
say you're. The quarterback you can stand in the batter's
box on a. Baseball field we're gonna play football on a.
Baseball field. Got me our receiver is gonna run down the,
third baseline like he's going all the way out to,
(23:56):
left field but he's gonna hit, third base and he's
gonna round in between the the third basement and. The, shortstop,
okay okay if we wait for him to get between
the third basement and the, short stop we don't have
a baseball in, our hand because we can throw, that ball,
you know right well in.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Our hands we got football in, our hands. Stop fifty.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
So for us to hit that when he gets between
the third basement and the and, the shortstop we've got
to throw it in anticipation and and so because if
we see him in, that window it's way, too, Late,
right okay so now we're we're sitting. There, standing well
sometimes the third baseman is hugging the line and the
short stops over by the.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Second, base, oh nice, big window it's.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Not hard but what about those times when the third
basement is kind of off set the shorts like that.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
Windows not, very big and then you're kind of in that.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Gray air if there it's a really, small window then
you just check down to you throw it to the
receiver who's at. The, pitcher okay to keep the, analogy
right but what about those, gray AREAS like i can't
always throw it to. The pitcher at SOME point i
got a throw it into. That window, and oh by,
the Way now i'm gonna go against. Baseball convention the
left fielder is right, down there like barely off of.
(25:09):
The infield he's like barely on. The grass and the
left fielder he can drive from the top. Down two
so it's not just the third baseman and the. SHORT
stop i gotta worry about what's the depth of the.
Left fielder oh and then on, some occasions the center
fielder's over, There TOO so i got to worry about the,
third baseman the, short stop the, left fielder and the,
center fielder all of whom can drive on the BALL
(25:30):
and I and i have TO but i have to
make that decision before we get to. Third base and
so that is why there's only fifteen guys on. The
PLANE like, i Say Think mike trout might be the
best cricket player in, the world in the history of,
the world or pick another Baseball maybe, julio whatever.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
But he's never.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Tried it he's because he's he grew Up in america
and he just never.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Played, cricket right you can.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Jolly well bet everybody in, a marror any decent athlete
in this country knows whether he can throw. A football
you're gonna know whether you're one of the candidates to be.
This guy and yet we only have fifteen guys who
can play. It well and it's because of. That anticipatory
SO when, i WATCH when I, watch GENO and, i
say why is he? Tapped out why is he twenty
(26:16):
seven and? Twenty three why IS his qbr gone from
seventh to fourteenth to, Twenty first why do we feel
like there's just a ceiling and he's not gonna. Get
better IT'S because. I want, i LOOK and, i say
there's opportunities if he throws it right off, the break
if he wants to wait and see if he, likes
it and wait till, that receiver the receiver gets like
(26:39):
almost to the third basement and almost to, the window
then we. Can't play but there's a completion there if
he throws.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
It early and would, you say who would You say
sam is significantly Better than gino at that aspect of.
The game sam is Significantly. Better sam sam is the
very best thing. ABOUT him i think.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
That is that's why cite of these play, action numbers
it's hard to turn your back on. The defense like
one of the.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
PLAYS that i.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Showed to this thirty, THIRD group i. THREW it i
showed a play Action Where sam darnogle is, under center
turns his back on the defense and then he comes Back.
AND addison i tried not to get too Many. JUSTIN
jefferson I think i only had One justin jefferson because you, just,
go oh It's.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
Justin.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Jefferson ray most of THE completion i showed Were. To
addison And so addison's running a deep dagger deep eighteen
yard in route and.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
It's.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
In zone so what's called the hook and the curl
flat defender they suck up because of the play. Action
fake and then the corner's kind of driving on this
route is a deep. In round the safety could drive
on at. The corner AND what i tried to tell,
the guys, let's say with the, LASER point, i said
when he turns, his back like, right now we think
that this is pretty damn open because the camera is
(27:57):
up one hundred feet above. The Level But sam darnold
when he goes back those linemen they might.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Be obscuring where's the.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
Hook defender like we can see from the camera one
hundred feet above that the hook the middle linebacker has
sucked up to the.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Play action but.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
When you turn your back on, the defense you don't
know if, he sucked and you might think he. Got
lost he might be lost, behind alignment but he might
instead of being, you know six yards some lion scrimmage
covering that back or you know, eight yards he might
be fourteen yards from alion scram because.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Like you can't.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Find him but if you sit there, AND go i
want to take an extra split second to find him
to make sure he's. Not, there, well now everything all
the rest of, it day it just goes. To hell
so you got to put your back foot in the
ground and you got. To turn, you go looks, pretty
good you. Gotta, go yeah you, gotta go like the
ball's got to, come down. Bitch yep but you have
to have determined that after you've turned your back on,
(28:53):
the defense then you got to find those important to
go back to. The analogy then you've got to find the,
third basement the, short stop the left fielder in the.
Center field within a, split second you got to decide
is any one of those. Mother's efforts can any one
of them drive on? My? Ball, right yeah and that's
why it's freaking hard.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
TO play i think that's encouraging to hear for all
Of us seahawk fans out there that have a hope
of Not Only sam donald being a solid quarterback for
the next year, or two but being potentially the guy
the potentially the guy for The long.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
And, that's right and we'll see what happens to. The
line and by, THE way i have to, SAY this
I know jaxson's gonna. Kill me the, pressure percent the
Pressure percent gino was thirty eight. Point six donald was
thirty eight point.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
One percent basically saying like this is. A, myth Yeah,
THE vikings i gotta.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Scream This christian darris saw the.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Left Tackle dalton Raiser ed ingram they had injuries across
the boad that the idea that that That That sam
donald didn't have to do with bad it's it's it's
nonsense that here's.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
The.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Point yeah gino's passer rating when pressured was sixty, point
five twenty eighth IN. The Nfl sam donolds when pressured
was eighty seven. Point one that. Was fourth you go
from twenty eighth when pressured to fourth. When pressured so
if you're out, there, saying Well the vikings had a,
good protection. My ass watch the freaking TAPE and i
(30:15):
just told you. The numbers unless you think thirty eight
point six to thirty eight point one percent is a,
big difference.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
It is that's not a big difference. At all that's
not a. Big, difference no but the quarterback rating is a.
Big difference, but yes we gotta take a Paint t
we gotta take a. Time out as is fired Up
as hugh is, about that he might even be more
fired Up About shador sanders getting his. Number retired. That's
next you're.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Listening To the home Of, the Husky, the Kraken and
SEATTLE'S Best nfl draft coverage in the twenty TWENTY Five.
Nfl draft now Back To, suthian dick proudly brought to
You By Emerald queen Casino On sports radio ninety three
point three kJ.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
R fm let's get, the.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
ELEPHANT rue i don't want to talk about this. Too
long i'm gonna just talk briefly and let. It go
we talking About. Sha door we ain't talking about. Nobody
else but his last Name. Was sanders we wouldn't have discovered.
This discussion the only reason we were having this discussion
is his last Name.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Is sanders.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
That's it it's been so many things accomplished at this,
university expeditiously it's. Been, unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Well he's right, About That Hugh deon sanders is one hundred.
Percent correct if his last Name, wasn't sanders we wouldn't
be talking. About THIS but i think he was referring
to if his last Name, wasn't sanders he wouldn't be
getting criticized for getting his. Jersey retired not if the,
actual reality which is if his last Name, wasn't sanders
(31:44):
he wouldn't even be up for retirement of the jersey
in the first.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
OF course, i mean if the dog would have caught.
THE rabbit, i mean how MANY yips i was. GOING down, i,
MEAN look i THINK it's i think. IT'S ridiculous i think.
IT'S humiliating i think it's an Injustice To travis hunter
because it waters down a Very Legit but i'm gonna
(32:09):
just try and be levelheaded. ABOUT this i want to
point You To, dion figures a defensive back For The
colorado buffaloes who wore. Number two he was part of
the nineteen ninety team that won the. National championship he
Won The Jim thorpe award For the Best. Defensive player
he Won The Jack. Defensive back he Won The Jack
(32:30):
tatum award For the Best. Defensive back he Was The
Big Eight defensive player Of, the year and he was
a consensus First Team. All american you know who he
sounds like to MEET when i just List that Steve
Frickin Impman, national championship the player Of the year In
The Conference outline, award winner like best foot player at,
(32:51):
your Position Like deon figures did Everything That steve edman
did everything as a, college player and he wore. Number
two and they're taking number two From Like shandry sanders
isn't even the most qualified number Two at colorado and
so the store.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
And not even the most qualified Quarterback.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
At colora i'm going to. Two Quarterbacks darrin hagen went
twenty eight. And five he Was The Big big eight
player Of. The year he was fifth In. The heisman
he won a, national Championship and shodor was eighth In.
The Heisman and shoulder went thirteen. And twelve barely over.
Five Hundred cordell stewart Was The big eight total yardage
(33:33):
leader when, he retired he set the record. Total yardage
he was twenty seven. And five he was a First
Team All. Big eight he's not. The most he's not
Qualified Over. Darien hagen in, my opinion he's not Qualified Over.
Cordell Stewart rashan salom certainly. Has qualified he Won, a
heisman but he Won the heisman in nineteen. Ninety four
he didn't get his jersey retired till. Twenty seventeen and
(33:57):
the other people at call, because look people Say Tibo.
Tim tebow, it's Crazy Like tim tebow won two national
championships In a heisman did he didn't have? Hell there
number fifteen.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Was worn.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Last year but Let's. Go colorado this is. What's relevant.
You had you had A Guy, wizzard white we know,
That Name Supreme. Court justice he played in, Thirty Six
joe rummick played in fifty nine to, sixty One And
bobby anderson sixty seven to. Sixty nine the only other
guy in modern Times Was, rashaun salom who again Won the.
(34:32):
Heisman trophy and he had to wait all, those years,
you know, twenty three twenty four years to get his,
number retired and we're Gonna. Take shaddure That's the That's
what colorado's. Tradition is and by, the way One thing
I'VE never i haven't heard if you retire a number
in college as a prosed to the opposed TO, the
nfl you're retired in on both sides of the of.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
The, field yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
The, Ball yeah like.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Like teams have more than well over one hundred and
so you have to a lot of times there's. Different
distributions two guys might be wearing number twelve GUYS and
i being wearing number ten because his offense. And defense
you retire a number and you're taking that number away
from both sides of the ball. For eternity so, THE
standards i clearly the standards are different from different teams
(35:20):
and for. Different reasons. That's fine i'm Focusing on, colorado's
standard and. There's Others chad brown Was An all american
on the, national title but again not, you know the
third most worthy quarterback and the second most worthy. Number
TWO so i THINK it's i think. IT'S embarrassing i think.
(35:41):
IT'S disgraceful i think If If shduor sanders really want
TO impress nfl scouts if he just put the brakes
on it, and, said listen you, know what with all
the events that, have Transpired and i've seen the BACKLASH
and I and i've listened to it with an, open
mind and you, Know what i've changed.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
MY mind i don't want to be a part.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Of this there's if it were.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
To happen at some point in. The FUTURE but i
just think this is a. Bad look.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Uh UH and i feel like it's hasty and and and, So,
RESPECTFULLY dad i just let's not do this. For me
if you want to Do, A travis i'll be there
To give travis a hug And. Honor travis but let's
just pump the brakes.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
On me if he. Did that how many People FROM.
Steven a smith do?
Speaker 1 (36:28):
You?
Speaker 3 (36:29):
To everybody and thirty?
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Two, gms yeah will, just say you, know what good on, You,
boy yeah. You KNOW and i don't, MEAN sorry i
don't mean to say it, like that but good, on,
you dude, you know uh uh and, AND uh i.
DON'T know i just it absolutely. Is flabbergasting how a
sleep at. The wheel They are Dion, And shider they
(36:50):
are asleep at the wheel to all these dynamics in.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Play WELL and i just think they could be USING more,
nfl model like the Like the, seahawks do like many other.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Teams do that.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
There's, there's right and the highest tier is deserving of
only the elite of, the Elite The travis hunters of
the world that Win The. Heisman trophies and that's the
retiring of. The jersey there needs to be a ring,
of honor a plaque at the foot at the at
the stadium for, you know all time greats from the and,
that's fine you want to push the. Door there he
Was the big Twelve offensive player of. The year he
(37:20):
did set the all time record for passing yards of.
The school he did have a thirty seven touchdown. Ten
ors he had a very very good season and he
helped Along With travis Hunter And. Dion sanders, that's correct resurrect.
The program if you want to honor him in, some
way you there are many ways to.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
Honor him But the.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Huskies do it with their you, know what their end
of the first quarter thing used to be the end
of the third. Quarter thing there's plenty of ways to
do it without doing The retired jersey five point fifty
five on ninety three POINT, three kjrfm
