Speaker 3 (00:48):
Hugh Millen joining us right now on the radio program.
How are you, man? What's happening? I'm doing well. Lots
of stuff to talk about here.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Why don't we first of all talk about the opponent
the Seahawks will face Tomight. I know for the thirty
third team a couple of weeks ago. This is great timing.
You actually were asked to do a presentation on cam Ward.
Maybe you drew a short straw. I have no idea, right,
but you saw this guy, you studied him. The Titans, dude,
have nine total touchdowns as a freaking team, which is amazing.
(01:18):
They got six passing touchdowns on the ear. Everything about
this football team looks to be terrible, including the offense.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
So what do you see when you see cam Ward?
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Well, I see a guy that has a very quick
release and a big arm. He has an ability. You know,
his best route is the seam route, and he showed
that in college. He's shown that here with Tennessee. And
so there's a talented guy, but he just has nothing
around them. Their left tackles bad, right tackles worst, no
(01:47):
tight ends. Calvin Ridley was you know in the thirty
third team they have blue, red, purple, and you think
purple would be second place because it's a blend of
blue and red. Dick Fane with me, but they but
for whatever reason, they go blue, red is and and
Calvin Ridley, in my estimation, was like a purple, you know,
(02:10):
and and maybe red at best. Nobody else was blue
red purple, and uh you know now uh you know pff.
For example, they don't have a single receiver ranked in
the in the top ninety in the NFL, so they
got tet no targets running back. It's just semester. I
thought they were very poorly coached. I won't go into
the details, but he that coach has been whacked. So
(02:33):
I think we don't know what cam Ward is because
the Titans are so bad on offense.
Speaker 6 (02:39):
Well, we're trying to figure out what Sam Donald is.
We think we know, we think we like what Sam
Donald is. But I made the comment earlier that maybe
Sam Donald needs to be willing to eat it a
little more and take more sacks versus doing what he
did last week.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Is that is that fair?
Speaker 6 (02:55):
As you know, like the Texter says, you're gonna Barbara
hue me with your analysis of that take.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
Well, I would say that a sack is certainly better
than in interception obviously, right, and you go back to
the rams, but let's just kind of take some things
into perspective. That the turnover worthy plays, which is a
really you know that that says, Okay, we're gonna throw
out the luck and the good luck and the bad luck,
and Darnold has ten turnover worthy plays. That's that's fifteenth
(03:26):
right right dead in the middle. But but the offset
to that, the big time throws, his seven point six
percent is number one in the NFL. So the ratio,
what's a big time throw? Mean, it's a subjective, just
like whoa kind of a wow throw.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
There's no way that's a real stack. If you say, whoa,
that's a big time.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Right, well, look it's it's there's a certain metrics. I
think it has to be a certain I'm out down
the field, that has to be in a tight coverage.
What have you point is? Sam Donald is number one
in big time throws, he's in the middle and turn
of wheth he plays. So then you say the racio
like we've all heard touchdown to interception racio, which to me,
(04:10):
you know as always say hey, let's put the ratio
of something good to something bad. To me, it always
should have been yards per interception because you get interceptions
more trying to get more yards. So I don't understand
my whole life, why why yards per interception hasn't been
a thing, but turnover worthy plays the Raco of the
(04:32):
big time throw to turnover worthy plays both the number
and the ratio. Donald is in the top four in
the NFL even after that game against the Rams.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Well, they're going back off.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
Then, is what you're saying. He should just continue to
be as aggressive as he's being.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Well, I think he's done a hell of a job
of you know, with only the ten sacks, I think
he's done a hell of a job of managing how
to work that pocket. And and to that point, there's
a stat in the NFL portal air yards per time
to throw on completions. Okay, So basically, are you getting
(05:08):
rid of the ball quick? Okay? But within that are
you generating yards? Well, we know he's that. Sam Donald
is number one in the NFL in yards per attempt,
He's number one in yards per completion. But how about
air yards per time to throw? Well, he's number one
in the NFL. And by the way, for the Geno
(05:30):
is fortieth out of forty four qualifying quarterbacks and Geno
was thirty fourth last year. So you've got a guy
that understands how to deal with the pressure and avoid sacks.
And in fact, in the in the same portal, Sam
Donald is listed as going to the first read on
his progression exactly sixty two percent of the time. The
(05:54):
only the only guy who is who's who's higher in
that regard was Davis Mills, who's basically a backup, and
so he's got a small data set. So first starting
quarterbacks Sam Darnald is number one at going to the
first read and now the thirty eight percent of the
time that he doesn't. I've done a lot of time
talking on this station about how I really marvel how
(06:17):
quickly he goes through his progressions. The problem was Sunday,
every one of those well, the fourth one not really,
but the first three interceptions there was a major issue
with the breakdown in the interior of the offensive line.
And how many times have we been talking about that?
Right and so so Donald, while he has been good
(06:38):
at navigating this issue about the pressure in the manner
that I've been describing, you know, he wasn't on Sunday,
but he's still left you know people, And I do
want to say two things because I've heard me say,
hey take the hit.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
WHOA.
Speaker 5 (06:54):
There is nothing that I have ever seen that on
the tape at any point in this man's career where
I would say this guy looks soft to take a
hit now. So there's a big difference between take the
sack and take the hit, because if you say, hey,
take the hit, that you know, there's almost an implication
like you're scared to get hit. And I think that
(07:15):
is woefully unfair to Sam Darnold. The tape that he
has put on his entire career, well.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
I'm looking at just pff, deep passing twenty yards or more?
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Is that air yards? By the way, Hugh, do you know? Yes?
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Okay, so deep passing twenty yards or more. They've got
him as the number one great quarterback in the NFL,
with the number two NFL passer rating tied for number
two thirty attempts or more on deep balls. He's got
the number one completion percentage and the number one yards
per attempt with zero drops by his receiving corps as well.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
So that's pretty damn good.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
I want to ask you this, as a former player yourself,
if you had Ernest Jones come out and defend you
the way he did Sam Donald, and tell everybody if
you think this guy's the problem and f you what
would that mean to you as a teammate.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
It made a hell of a lot. I think I'd be,
you know, kind of really touched by it and and
wanting to uh, you know, to to back up those words,
and and uh, yeah, I think it's cool as hell.
And uh, you know, he's the captain of the defense, or
at least he's the green dot. And and you know,
I think it's nice that he recognized everything that Sam
(08:27):
Donald's done. It was a bad game. Sam Donald lost
the ram game period. I am not trying to to
to run from that assertion. In fact, I asserted myself
that's part of playing the position. And and now we
just we see, Hey, he's going to get back on
the horse. Uh, the the Titans are not a real
big threat. You know, the horse isn't going to be
(08:47):
jumping over many you know, tall buildings or structures or
or wide rivers. So it should be easy to him.
But you know, I agreed. I don't know if you
guys caught in the telecast only. Gonzalez said last night
that he thinks that Sam Darnold has more pressure on
him than any player in the NFL to win, just
(09:11):
just from here to the end of the season. Just yeah,
obviously to win, but but in terms of how the
eyes are going to be on him, what he's gonna do,
and and you know he's specifically probably h you know,
that's an early sell for him and the Amazon crew
on the Thursday night game that's going to take place
on December eighteenth. But we we we discussed this topic
on Monday, like like, we're hopefully he gets back on.
(09:35):
They got to they got to improve some things. We'll
see what they do with cane Iroe. I mean, I
think that Eliza Royo for a second round draft picked,
only have fourteen catches. I think that's got to improve.
You know, you got to get some some cohesion going
with rashidsa he to make that worth it. So I
think there's a lot of things you can do over
the next three weeks. Then you play the Colts. That's
(09:56):
gonna be a tough game at home, and then and
then you know, all the marbles on that Thursday night You.
Speaker 6 (10:01):
Not a lot of coaches like to give flowers to
their team during the middle of the season, but Mike
McDonald said, quote, it's clear we are a great team.
After that La loss, I was a little surprised to
hear an NFL coach say that, Do you agree with him?
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Well, we got two issues.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Number one is this statement of fact, and number two
should have he said it well to say a great team,
you can't really delve into the factual realm, can we,
because that's just a subjective term. I think that clearly,
if I had to make inferences, I think what he
was doing is saying, hey, my team needs a boost
(10:41):
they needed had we won this game, had Meyers got
you know, made great contact with that ball and kicked
it through the uprights, then I don't think he would
have said that. He would have said, Okay, now everybody's
going to be throwing you know that the we're gonna
be number one in power rankings. Everybody's going to say
that's tough. And then he probably would have brought the
rat down, or at least, you know, he wouldn't have
(11:02):
said that, But in that moment, he probably felt like
his team could use a boost of confidence and let
them know exactly how I feel about him. And and
you know, let's say, hey, yeah, we we're lost seven
and three, but think of where we are. You know,
you're the Seahawks, yeah, they've only they're two and three
against current playoff teams. That's a four hundred.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
You know, I have the.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
Fourteen teams, you know, I have a who has a
better rating than that. There's only three teams that are
better than four hundred last year. Last year, eight of
fourteen teams had a three thirty three or worst record
against playoff teams. Dave, You've been saying this for a
long time in both baseball and football. You know, good teams,
it's not like they always dominate the really good teams.
(11:45):
You know, you're lucky to go five hundreds. The Seahawks
are two and three. Had that, you know, ball gone through,
they'd be three and two. But but I think that
that what what what McDonald's seeing is a team that
absolutely has a chance to win the Super Bowl. And
for example, if you go over the last six seasons,
(12:06):
the Seawks right now at seven and three. To go
over the last six seasons, the Super Bowl winner was
seven and three or worse. On five of those six teams.
Only one team was better, an eight and two team
in there I think might have been the Eagles. But
so he knows they are right on track. And by
the way, to be right on track. On the offensive
(12:26):
side of the ball that needs cohesion. You know, offenses
are symphony. Defense is a beehive. On the offense side,
you got a new coordinator, a new quarterback, and to
really look at yourself and to say we have a
legit chance to win the Super Bowl. He sees it
and he wants to let his team know that that's
what he believes in them.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Right, Okay, So how do you handle his abel this weekend.
Is it just as easy as hey, the doctor say
he can go, he goes? Or do you maybe want
to sit him and just give him the week off
because it's the Titans.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
I'd prefer to sit him, you know, just to get
him a hundred percent. But you know, for Christian Haynes,
just a thought on that. At Yukon and then the
first year of the Seahawks, he had two thousand, four
hundred and twenty three snaps at right guard prior to
that last drive on Sunday and only three snaps at
(13:13):
left guard. So those ten snaps that he had at
left guard were you know, the fourth through thirteenth snaps
of his you know, big time football life playing left guard.
But you know, we'll see how he goes. He got
he saw stunts two of the first three plays, handled
them well. He was also the communicator on the snap,
(13:34):
so that was an extra burden. He did get truck
verse on one of those early plays, but other than
that he played okay. So we'll see what he does.
If the Seahawks can't beat the Titans with Christian Haynes
at left guard, they got a lot bigger proms.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
What's been the drop off from Sundell to Olu? If
any Sundale's a better athlete, Oulu.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Clearly a worse pass blocker. Uh, And you know that
was his his his getting trucked on the first interception
was the second pass. And I didn't like the scheme.
I don't like sending both the guards out and to
their respective help out on the outside and leaving the
center on an island. So I don't like that schematically,
(14:18):
But yeah, that caused Darnold to have to move and
retreat back to his diagonally back to his left, which
set in motion the whole calamity. And and and uh,
you know, I thought that Cooper Cup went too deep
on the route and a lot of bad things were happening,
but it started with Olu getting trucked.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
I don't know if you caught the Husky Hank show
Hugh before you go here, But Mario and Greg kind
of went at it a little bit about the Husky
passing game. In short, Greg thinks the Husky passing game
is good and Mario thinks they are not good. And uh,
you know, Greg would vote, would quote the completion percentage,
and Mario would talk about the lack of a deep threat.
Speaker 3 (14:55):
So where do you fall on that, Well.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
The completion per section. I think there's gonna be a
lot of talk, Well, Demand Demon's gonna likely get the
Husky record and and people are gonna equate completion percentage
with accuracy. To me, I think it speaks more to
the decision you make on where you throw the ball.
And I think it's interesting that that the stat portal
(15:18):
they scout these college quarterbacks and the NFL has the
off target percentage while Demand is an on in conference
play power for isn't that all we care about?
Speaker 7 (15:31):
Right?
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Because because if Demand gets to play against UC Davis
and uh you know, uh Manning has to go up
and play Ohio State in and out a conference game,
let's just restrict to in conference power for teams and quarterbacks.
There's eighty quarterbacks, so demand seventy two point three percent.
Completion in those games is six six, but his off
(15:53):
target percent he's forty second, with first being the best
and the most accurate, so not even in the top half.
On air yards of five or more yards, we're getting
rid of those shovel passes and the bubble screens and
what have you. Duman's completion percentage now that falls a
little bit more. He's thirteenth, still good, thirteenth out of eighty,
but his off target percentage he's sixty fifth, with again
(16:17):
first being the best, you know, eightieth being the worst.
He's sixty fifth out of eighty eight. How about the
intermediate game from air yards ten to twenty yards, demon
completion percentage twelfth out of eighty pretty damn good, off
target percentage sixty second out of eighty. So these and
then there's I could cite you similar numbers for EPA,
(16:40):
which is the expected point average. But the point is
is that that I don't think that completion percentage is
just about accuracy. I think it's about choice of where
the ball goes, and you know some of those others.
If we're going to equate, Hey, we're a record at
a record setting accuracy rate. The numbers don't and the
and the tape doesn't show that. Hey, listen, great stuff.
(17:02):
I don't think you have barbarahwed us too bad. But
we'll see what happens next time. All right, I'm eager
to Yeah, well, there's just just throw up. You guys
are Yeah, you guys are good stuff. I'll get you.
I'll get you eventually.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
That will be an opportunity at some point. All right,
have a good Thanksgiving. We're Monday, all right, man, we'll
see you that all right? Heremailing with us. We're gonna
break fun with audio coming up at five forty five tonight. Hey,
what do you say we squeeze in a little bit
of baseball chatter?
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Is that allowed? It is now? Is that allowed? Alecs unlocked?
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Okay, the ability to talk baseball if they lost to
the Tigers, no way, but this is now allowed.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Jackson, You go, well that.
Speaker 8 (17:47):
I kind of feel like that. That is the line.
We joke about it. But if they hadn't beaten Detroit,
think about the disappointment we'd be feeling if we didn't
get past Detroit, the entire momentum, the entire atmosphere around
the ball club would be so different.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Well, how long was that game? Five? Again? Was it
fourteen innings? Fifteen?
Speaker 4 (18:04):
I mean, that's how close they were, right, speaking of which,
I mean, God, you might want to thank the pitching
staff Luis Castillo coming out of the bullpen for hanging
in there against those guys.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Man a right.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
So the question now becomes what do the Mariners do
the rest of the way in free agency and in trades.
I think we're kind of focused on free agency, but
we should be also talking about deals because the Mariners
have some prospects that they could deal. And I generally
agree with what you said Jackson a while back, that
you know, you've seen most of those guys get moved
to the deadline. But we do see trades over the offseason.
(18:37):
And there's a pretty big one in Detroit named Tarek
Scubele sitting there, and our buddy Jim Boden wrote about
it right what it would take to get him. So
do we like the proposals or we freaking out?
Speaker 3 (18:48):
Jackson?
Speaker 6 (18:49):
I'm really nervous to read these names because I'm afraid.
I'm afraid Dave Softy Maller, yes, will fit your nick
name and trade tree. He will strip down naked and
run around the room. And I don't want to see that. Okay,
would you like me to take my pants off?
Speaker 8 (19:06):
Now? Here's and you normally I am with you on
these sorts of sides. We're talking about an alien.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
Okay, get to the trade proposal before before we get
officially naked here on the show, because I'll join you,
soft Okay, I am unzipping my pants.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
I'll tell you right, I will to go.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
It's Bryce Miller, okay, done, Ryan Sloan okay, Harry Ford okay,
Teddy McGraw, not Tim McGraw, but Teddy McGraw and Michael Morale.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
That's it. Yes, that's it. That's it.
Speaker 8 (19:37):
I told you I thought you were gonna read like
six more names.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
It is your fourth.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Keep getting it, just keep hitting it is yes, yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yes, yes, are you kidding me? Miller? Your fourth, fifth, twelve,
and eighteenth.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Okay, there's part There's got to be a part of
that story they eatn't read. Is there like a for
the rest of the story, hit subscribe or something.
Speaker 8 (20:05):
And we have to give Detroit one hundred million dollars
for the rest of life.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
Oh, this is the return for the first Seattle or.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Even Jerry Depotah would say to that same thing.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
I mean, what the hell are you talking about? Man,
That's like saying the articles come on.
Speaker 8 (20:22):
That's like saying I want to trade trade for Josh
Mahomes and all we have to give up is our
backup defensive taxes.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
Josh Mahomes, jos Josh Allen.
Speaker 6 (20:29):
Sorry, I would ve a hybrid of Josh A Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Brother's name is it, Josh Jackson?
Speaker 7 (20:38):
Right?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
You should know that Jackson? Who I mean, Jesus, can
you just look at an injury up to Josh look
at an injury report Jackson? Well, yes, I would do that.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Deal. Would you would do it? You would do it.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
Jerry Depota would do it. There's no gem in baseball
that would not do that.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (20:55):
That is unbelievable And there's no way that's going to
happen here.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
No.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
I mean, let's look at Boden his office.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Rocker, it's time to start drug testing people at the
athletic before they start writing articles.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I think you're right, but I mean you try't going
to happen.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
I mean, you're you're giving them what for the Tigers
would be what they're number three starter probably in Bryce
Miller and Ryan Sloan who's almost major League ready, a
couple more right handers.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
I mean they're but you're protecting your top three guys.
There's no less Montest in there. There's no in.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
There, correct? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Like? If that deals on the table, Jerry Depoto should
be fired for saying no. If he says no to that,
he should be demoted. He should have to work the
concession stand in Peoria for a charity softball game in
the winner. If he says no to that, that is ridiculous.
Would be stunned.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
Stunned. If that's what it takes to get trek school guys.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
I thought he told us that we'd have to Oh
maybe that was David Sampson that we'd have to give up.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
It would start with no, find the clip. Find the clip.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
If you can find the clip between now and the
four minutes, I'll give you fifty bucks. This is what
I have to do. I have to pay him off.
By the way, it's ridiculous.
Speaker 8 (22:07):
We're the funniest part of that I was I was
like already thinking about going and getting it, But now
you have free fifty bucks, so.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
I gotta pay this guy to do his friggin job.
Speaker 8 (22:15):
No, no, you don't have to.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
You just offered to.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
I would absolutely run to the phone to make that
call to get that done if that's what it takes
to get Trek's scuble. Because on top of that, I mean,
we're not even talking about extending Terrek Schouble yet, right,
we're talking about him arbitration.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
Is that correct? One year?
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Does he have one year of arbitration left? What's his
contract status? I thought he had one more year of
arbitration going into this next season, but maybe I'm wrong
on that. The point is you don't have to commit
to him long term. You can just trade for the guy,
give up some prospects, see how things go, and then
if you want to talk about a long term deal
during the middle of the year, you can talk about
it now, Trek Scouble. If you don't sign him to
(22:56):
a long term contract before the season starts, hemate tell you. Look,
I'm gonna wait until the season's over. I'm gonna go
to free agency, right, I'm gonna test the market. I'm
gonna become maybe the biggest free agent pitcher to ever
hit free agency, and I'm gonna milk the cow for
as much as I can get. I totally get that.
But that deal that you're proposing, yes, you were exactly right.
(23:18):
My pants are on, which is amazing. But if it
was not inappropriate for me and we did not have
an HR person outside the door, I would.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Get fully naked, fully naked.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
I don't know if he'll he'll command a ton in
annual value, but he will be thirty years of age
when that deal is signed, right, So will a team
really give him eight nine years?
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Probably be thirty? Okay, yeah, I think he.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
I mean a five or six year deal for sure,
because what somebody will do is they'll do the Josh
Nandler deal and they're gonna say, we got this guy
for four or five years.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
We're not concerned about the sixth year.
Speaker 7 (23:53):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
We just want to lock him in and get that
deal done. But man, guys, wouldn't you be just bowled
over if that's what it took to God tear to
get Trek's scuable.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
We got the clip, by the way, fifty Bucks, you
son of a bitch. I was already gonna get it.
You just offered here.
Speaker 9 (24:07):
It is more than your number one prospect. I think
you're gonna have to give up Bryce Miller probably and
your top pitching prospect and your top in field prospect,
and and and now you've got a chance.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
That sounds like that's that sounds rich to me. Well,
that's what.
Speaker 9 (24:23):
It's gonna take. You're gonna you're gonna have to do, Richard.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
It's going to be painful.
Speaker 9 (24:26):
You're gonna have to bleed, and you're gonna have to
have a broken bone if you want schooble. Otherwise, you
could always pivot and go after Freddy Peralta for a year.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
More than your number one prospect and Bryce Miller. So
this is Bryce Miller.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
I'm not our number one pitching prospect and not our
number one in field back.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
I mean, what was the date on that, by the way,
that was November fourth, okay, number four? Uh, well that
was two weeks ago. I too, Well, that was what
I was going to follow up. Unless he's hearing things
from other people that the market may not be what
people think it's gonna be. Blah blah, blah, it's possible.
We we just got to get him back on the ear.
Tell him that you'll give him the fifty bucks I
gave you to find that clip and get and get Bowden.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Back on the Sunday. Yet, we gotta get him back
on the air. I'm not sending it home.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
I'm gonna I'm gonna wait till you squirm. He's like
the guy you ever seen the movie Better Off Dead?
Speaker 3 (25:12):
That's probably wait. He will be paper boy badgering me
all night. Fifty dollars. I'll go to beds here and
knock on my door.
Speaker 8 (25:20):
I want when you make ten dollars a month, and
this is great. Ten.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
When did it become ten last month? I thought it
was eight? It was all right. Fun with Audio next
on ninety three three kJ RFM. It's now time for
Safday in digs one with audio.
Speaker 10 (25:36):
Jimmy Gawd Star Jimmy mister garoppolo.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Now let's have some fun with audio. Fun with audio.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Slash hated you hear that normally at three forty five,
but today it's on a Friday at five forty five
because Lee Starting, our handicapper, was on the air with
us way back at three forty five and speaking of that,
tune in for Picking the Locks with Mark and Lee
coming up at seven pm tonight. All right, hey, Dick,
did you happen to hear that?
Speaker 3 (26:03):
What's that? Dick? Let's go back to the Bucks Bills game.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Last weekend, CBS announcers Iron Eagle and JJ Watt had
some fun with movie references while talking about Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 11 (26:12):
They like to go back and forth on movie quotes,
and Josh said Baker reminds him of White Goodman from Dodgeball.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
It would be the Ben Stiller character Jodi loves Chuchi
the run Mayfield.
Speaker 11 (26:30):
There were like seven shake and bakes in there, Golobo,
Jim on the loose. I don't know if they quote
Talladega Knights, but the shake and bake from Baker, so.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
You know who you know?
Speaker 4 (26:45):
I think Dan Dibley looks like the guy that played
the pirate Inschool, right, It's unbelievable. Every time I see that, dude,
I think of Dan Dibbley. Do you know what Dan
Dibley looks like?
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Right the way? Okay, he looks like the pirate from Dodgeville.
All right.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Ripped Torn one of my all time favorite actors may
Rest in Peace was also in Dodgeball, so I look,
you know me, I'm all for a good movie reference
every now and then.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
That was okay. He was in Phenomenals. Okay, so he
did two separate movies.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
He did, he blended them, he did, and the more
random to me, the better. That's just the way I am,
because I want to prove that I know more than
you do. Jackson's pretty good at that stuff. You still
do in the Hollywood Podcast, by the way, we.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
Would, except for the fact that Chris pretty much works
every day after his normal shift, so we can't really
find a good time to record it.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Find a new band member. If he's not in, kick
him out, find somebody else. Band members, bands changed members
all the time.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
I'm not going to be the one to say that, well,
how long has it been since we recorded a podcast?
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Six monthslos ridiculous andres.
Speaker 8 (27:43):
I will let Anders kick him out, But I don't
think he's gonna do that either.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
I think it's time to find a new member of
the bandit this guy can't commit, can't play it.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
If he can't commit, he can't commit, it's six months.
Speaker 8 (27:55):
I will.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
I will give him every single chance. I will also say.
Speaker 8 (27:59):
This is that Anders is now very busy as well
for other reasons, and he doesn't have the time, so.
Speaker 6 (28:04):
Does podcasts from his home, though I can't just figure
out a time to do it while he's at home.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
Yeah, so it sounds like the podcast is dead Boys
and Girls.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
That's what I read. Okay, good, well, no more Hollywood podcast.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
I guess all right, Hey, Dick, did you happen to
hear that?
Speaker 3 (28:17):
What's that?
Speaker 4 (28:18):
On Monday's ESPN Manning Cast and the Cowboys and Raiders
When We're President? George Bush joined Peyton and Eli for
the first quarter and came ready with some jokes.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
President of the United States, George W. Bush, Mister President.
When presidents have important addresses.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
To the nations, like the State of the Union, they
often prepare for weeks, if not months.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
And my question is how long have you been preparing
for this Manning Cast appearance? About ten minutes perfect. That's too,
By the.
Speaker 7 (28:50):
Way, I I'm I'm so pleased to see your faces
not on a TV commercial.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
There's a lot of them out there, and there's a
few male on the way.
Speaker 11 (29:05):
I'm just gonna apologize in advance.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
I filmed a couple last weeks.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
So you know, I have noticed that for certain types
of people, presidents and high ranking politicians among them, the
threshold for what it takes to laugh at a joke
is very very low. Would you guys agree with that? Yes,
you know, like a guy makes even a remote funny
Oh my god, did you hear what he said? It's
just a real low bar. I do think I'm thinking
(29:31):
when I play this clip, you said he's got jokes,
I'm gonna laugh.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
I don't laugh one time. I do think this.
Speaker 8 (29:37):
It's it's very like, it's nice to see you guys
not on a commercial. I think I think that's a
pretty good joke.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Pretty good line, pretty good line. It was okay, he
didn't sound like he was all that thrilled to be there.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
And I guarantee if somebody else gave him that line
before he went on the air. By the way, you
think he came up with that by himself. I think
Bush is a pretty funny guy.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
I think he still has a press secretary that walks
around with him.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Well, he definitely has people that help him out with publicity.
AB's a freaking it's also got armed guard standing outside
his front door. I believe, but what comes along with
being an ex president? I thought it, well, I give
it a three on a scale of ten. Was all right, whatever,
all right, what's next?
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Dick? Hey you hear that? I'm sorry?
Speaker 6 (30:14):
Three?
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Two one? I was busy laughing at George Bush's jokes. Hey, Dick,
did you happen to hear that?
Speaker 3 (30:19):
David? What's that room?
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Off? There?
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Giants?
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Rookie running back Cam Scataboo was doing a live stream
on TikTok last week and asked an important question that's
now going viral online.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
Do you like turn your head to eat a taco
or do you turn the taco for you?
Speaker 8 (30:36):
Like?
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Are you dominant to the taco or the taco?
Speaker 8 (30:38):
Like?
Speaker 5 (30:39):
Do you turn your head for the taco? It's about
the dominance of the taco though. If you're not, if
you're turning the taco, you're dominating the taco.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
Okay, So I'll be the old guy that doesn't know
what the hell he's talking about.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
What the hell's you talking about?
Speaker 8 (30:56):
You? When you eat the taco, do you turn your
head or do you.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
Turn the talk? Well, when when my turn my head
or turn the taco? Let me do this.
Speaker 6 (31:04):
You have to turn this Otherwise this stuff falls out
of the taco.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Now, if it's a well kept taco.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
We're talking soft taco or hard talk, hard talk, hard talk,
not that chicken soft taco. From taco to So, if
I'm eating the taco, do I turn the taco to
fit my mouth or I turn my head to fit
the top back.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
I'm a head turner. I have to be. I'm a
head turner. Yeah, I'm a head turner. You won't fall
out of my head if I turn it to thee.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
If I turn my head, my mouth kind of becomes
a reservoir at that point, and then if anything falls
out of it, I have a better chance of catching it.
Speaker 8 (31:38):
But the problem with that is that the tacos dominating you.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
You're not dominating the top. That's fine. The taco's gonna be.
It can dominate all its one. It's not going to
be in existence. After about forty five seconds, I.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
Get dominated by my wife and three dogs at home.
All right, I'm gonna be damn well not concerned about
getting dominated by.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
A feet item.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
I am the four the most powerful person in a
four person fan.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Differently, you sleep on the couch every night, No, Okay,
then you're worse than me.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
All Right'm worse than you? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 4 (32:11):
So dog's pushing me off the bed, Go downstairs. I
get like a sliver of bed. Maybe if I'm lucky,
we got time for one more.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
You're going all right? Hey, Dick, did you happen to
hear that? What's that? Dick?
Speaker 4 (32:22):
Yesterday, on ESPN's First Take, Stephen A. Smith explained how
Lane Kiffin needs to leave ole mess in order to
take the next step as a head coach in college football.
Speaker 10 (32:32):
Y'all leave Lane Kiffin alone. We're not gonna do this.
We're not gonna do this to this man. Okay, you listen,
you win. I'm gonna break it home.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
My he's in Oxford, Mississippi.
Speaker 10 (32:45):
Okay, let's get this out the way now. Listen late,
I'm going somebody. Y'all can't say it. Don't you dare
say it? Paul, don't you dare say it? Doggy, don't
you say it? Shay, leave it to me. I'll say it.
The brothers ain't trying to come the Oxford, Mississippi for
the most part. Compare it to Gainesville or bat Ruge, Louisiana.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Let's just call it what it is. Okay.
Speaker 10 (33:09):
You look at the job that Lane Kiffen has done
at Old Miss. It's phenomenal. The man has won seventy
four percent of his games over the last six years.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Old Miss is in They're in the picture.
Speaker 10 (33:19):
They could win a national championship. He's got the potential
to be another Nick Saban.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
But it ain't gonna happen at Old Myths. Wow, he's
got the potential to be another Nick Saban. Hmm. I
don't know if I buy that yet. I agree that's
number one.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
And you know, look, I mean, obviously he's got schools
out there with better histories writing pedigrees than Old Miss
Penn State Florida, for sure. But hey man, everyone's got
to start somewhere right where was Indiana before Kurt Signetti
showed up in the toilet? I mean, imagine how big
of a legend he would be if he could turn
All Miss into a national contender consistently. Guys, I gotta
(33:55):
be honest with you, man, I'm not really buying the
Lane Kiffin hype the way everybody else is.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
I think he's having a good year. He's done well
at All Miss.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
But I think Lane Kiffin is also taken advantage of
the current environment in college football where there just aren't
that many big name coaches.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
So a guy that does what he does stands all
like a store of freaking thumb, no question.
Speaker 6 (34:14):
I mean, steven A's point was a little odd, though.
I mean, he's basically calling out the racial tolerance of Oxford,
Mississippi being worse than.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
Other areas down there. I don't know, is it.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
I don't know. Maybe he's right, he could be right.
I mean, look, all miss doesn't have the history that
some places do. I totally understand that, but I also
think that when you're talking about look, you're talking about
a coaching profession that has lost guys like Nick Sabin
and Chris Peterson over the years. College basketball has lost
some big names. Obviously there's gonna be some new young guns,
and maybe he's better prepared for this era than those
(34:51):
other guys were. But my god, I mean Lane Kiffin,
like people are talking about this dude like he's I
don't know, Tom Frickin Osborne or Jimmy Johnson's right, It's insane.
