Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today's Daily Highlight from Elvis Duran in the Morning Show.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I know, every year I do something for me. I
go out and I buy myself lunch, and I you know,
I do that all the time. I'll sit at a
bar somewhere and I'd like to eat by myself for lunch. Right,
I'll go to a great restaurant. I'll dress it up
a little bit. I'll sit at the bar and have lunch.
But I say to myselfself, this is your this is
your yearly lunch for you, and that's a stupid gift.
(00:28):
And then I'll go buy a new car. I'm kidding.
Sorry now, I'm kidding about that. But no, that's my
that's my yearly. It's a ritual where I'll do that
for me. Do you guys ever do something like that
other than buying his shoes and you wrap them and
open them on Christmas morning, Danielle.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Usually that's what it is. It's like, if it's something
that I really wanted, or if it's something that I
see that I want right before the holiday, I'll just
get it and wrap it up and put it on
the tree and be like, but I always act surprised,
Oh my gosh, where did this come from?
Speaker 3 (01:02):
I don't mind at least said we'll buy something that
she that like it's on sale. She'll say, Hey, when
I was there, it was on sale that day. They
didn't have many left. I knew my size. I got it.
Let's wrap that up and put it under the tree.
I get that. That makes sense. But then like yesterday
with I bought some boots because they wrapped around my
ankle better. And by the way, I want to wear
them before Christmas. Then that's not a Christmas gift. You
might as well you just bought those.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
By the way, where did she get those? Because I
need boots that wrap around my ankles better.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
You know what, Danielle, you could text you go ahead
and text her. You can remove the middleman there.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
And by the way, when they come in and say
these were on sale, they weren't just saying I'm twenty bucks.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
Yeah, I love you, Lisa.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
But also, you know, every once in a while, i'll
buy I don't know what to give Alex for Christmas,
so I'll buy us like a trip somewhere. Yeah, did
I get some of it too, So it's a gift
for me?
Speaker 4 (01:51):
It is? Is that selfish? Yes? Nate.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
The great thing about buying yourself something is nobody knows
you better than you. It's gonna be the right color,
it's gonna be the right size, it's gonna it's it's.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
All of those things. You don't have to return. The
thing you buy yourself needs to be four wheel drive.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
I've never done that.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
That'd be nice.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
What about you, scary, What do you do for yourself
every year? You know you're not gonna believe this, but
I barely do anything for myself. But there's one thing
I do do, and that is when I'm when I'm
shopping for others, I have to stop in Williams and
Oma and raid the place and buy peppermint bark and
all this other stuff for myself. That there's tins of
all the chocolates with the marshmallows and the peanut butter.
So that's like your ritual every year you go to
(02:34):
Williams and Noma and buy all their their candies and stuff. Yeah,
because I usually don't keep believe it or not, I
don't keep sweets and things like that in my house.
I mean, that's what every other place is for, all
the restaurants and hanging out here but like, yeah, but
I do that for the holidays for myself. I opening
up that peppermint bark, that's dark chocol It's delicious.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
So do these things for yourself. You know.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Look, you know, if it's something as simple as like
I do, you'd take yourself out to lunch and you
say this is my this is my holiday lunch for me.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
I mean you have to. It's it's a mindset, right.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
We have people texting in and saying that, you know,
they have a dog that needed life saving surgery. That's
their Christmas gift. They're buying themselves this year, worth every penny. Also,
people are saving up for a wedding. Rather than buying
things for each other, they're saving it for the wedding.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
There are a lot of.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Things you can do, but you know what, if you're
saving up for your wedding anyway, go ahead and say
this officially is our.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Christmas gift to ourselves. It is nice.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
So you know what I'm saying, Give it a give
it a place, give it, give it a title.
Speaker 4 (03:30):
So there you have it.
