Speaker 1 (00:05):
Lots to Say with Bobby Bones and Matt Castle is
a production of the NFL and iHeart podcasts.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
We Got Lots just say, we got lost, Just save
what better here?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
And we hope you stay because we got lost. Just said, yeah,
we got lost.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Just say.

Speaker 5 (00:31):
Here's Bobby that.

Speaker 6 (00:33):
Heyyboddy, welcome.

Speaker 7 (00:34):
A couple of things I want to talk about. I
did text you and got no response.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
You text me, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (00:39):
I pulled it up to make sure.

Speaker 7 (00:40):
On Thursday at six fourteen pm, the text that I
see you what I don't hope you got to feeling better, man,
gonna be an awesome weekend at the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 8 (00:50):
And because you were sick.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yeah yeah, yeah, And I obviously wasn't feeling better, because
that's why I didn't respond to you.

Speaker 8 (00:57):
Yeah, I didn't know you didn't go to it just now.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Before we came on, I was planning on it. I
had the trip all set up. I was supposed to
leave Friday night, get into Cleave. I was staying down
close to camp and I was going to rent a
car drive down there go the ceremony. But like, I've
just been wiped out by this deal and just felt
awful from the shivers, to this, to that, to the cough.
Finally I went into the doctor got like a full

(01:20):
breathing treatment yesterday, She's like, yeah, you've got walking pneumonia.
So I was like, gosh, and I felt so bad
because I really wanted to be there for Jared, because
Jared's a good friend of mine. He invited me up
to go to not only the ceremony but also there
having a dinner after, and the fact that I wasn't
able to make that kills me. But I just knew
that there was no way I wouldn't have any energy

(01:41):
or it just felt awful.

Speaker 7 (01:43):
What's more bothersome to you that you missed that or
you didn't respond to my text?

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Probably that I missed that, But the fact that I
didn't respond to your text, I apologize, but I do
appreciate you reaching out like that's true friendship. And the
fact that I didn't even acknowledge it or even know
that you text me is pretty bad on my part.

Speaker 8 (02:00):
Make sure it went through, because I never believed definitely
went Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I think I don't even know how.

Speaker 7 (02:05):
Yeah, yeah, listen, if you're sick, I get it. But
I was like, I was thinking about you and I
was like, dang, because you were ill last show and
you nut it up. You got through it and was like, man,
I hope you feel better.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Good luck.

Speaker 8 (02:17):
And you came in today and you look good.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah I feel better.

Speaker 8 (02:20):
You you sound sixty five percent better. Yeah, oh there
it is.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
You know.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
I had to throw out that little cough right there. Yeah,
I mean you have to call him sick.

Speaker 8 (02:29):
That's when you go.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
They never call in sick, right. I'm always like if
I can go, I can go. So uh yeah, just
kind of been dealing dealing with that energy level has
been I think the worst part is like the nights
where you've got the cough when every time you lay down, yeah,
just you can't fall asleep and it's just NonStop. So
I've had like two three hours of sleep for the
last week and a half.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
It's been brutal.

Speaker 7 (02:51):
You lay down and it's like all the mucus exactly
in your chest. It decides to take a different path,
yeah than the one you it's been taking standing up.
When you've cleared out your breathing, you cleared out your
delungs and you lay down, it goes well. I think
I'll drop down to a different part of the room
and then it gets all in your crap and.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
You're then you start gagging.

Speaker 8 (03:10):
Oh so it's walking pneumonia.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Huh, walking pneumonia. I don't even know what that means.
Just means that you've got a bad cough and it's
in your chest. That's what I think it means. What
the walking pneumonia?

Speaker 8 (03:20):
Because I think you're still functioning with it?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Okay, I'm good with that.

Speaker 8 (03:24):
Yeah, I think you're able to walk around.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Well, I got on the treadmill because the only thing
I know how to try to get through, Like you.

Speaker 8 (03:31):
Got on the treadmill.

Speaker 7 (03:33):
You're holding yourself back now to like walk it out,
and like, no, it's not called walk it out pneumonia.
It's called you have walking pneumonia.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
Well I know that, but but I like my mentality
is always just like push through, figure out a way
to like sweat get it out of your system.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
But I don't. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
My wife walked in and goes, what are you doing.
You're supposed to be resting. I was like, I can't,
I can't just sit there.

Speaker 8 (03:53):
I looked it up.

Speaker 7 (03:53):
They call it walking pneumonia because it's a milder form
of anemonia that people can often still walk around with
as inn they're sick but not sick enough to be
bedridden or hospital hospitalized.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Perfect, so it's a baby.

Speaker 8 (04:05):
It is called atypical pneumonia.

Speaker 7 (04:06):
Yeah, but you're an adult like that sucks like adult
illnesses or like adult injuries, like the older you get.

Speaker 8 (04:12):
Dude, they hurt. Everything hurts.

Speaker 7 (04:14):
I had to call I had a specialist cover to
work on my back from when I tweaked it playing
pickle ball.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Oh, I remember you saying that the last last episode.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
Doctor Jeremy came over worked on me and he's like, dude,
your back is doing the right thing. It's protecting the
muscles that it tweaked, so it's tightened to make sure
those muscles aren't injured. He was walking through the physiology
of the body, and so we do all this stuff
and he's like, I don't know if one session is
going to work, you might need one more. And I've
been using them for years, so I don't think he's
trying to one more session.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Mere first time.

Speaker 8 (04:46):
Yes, if it were my first time with him, I
would be like, m what are you up to now?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Questionable?

Speaker 8 (04:50):
It's seventy percent better.

Speaker 7 (04:52):
But it's adult injured, meaning when I get injured now,
I just feel like that body part is going to
be injured the rest of my life.

Speaker 8 (04:59):
I can't start coughing.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yeah, I mean I'm usually one of those people who
just pushed.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
I have a high pain tolerance.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
I always have for some reason, so if something bugs me,
I just kind of try to push through.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
And are you what walking pneumonia? Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 7 (05:14):
It says, Yes, I don't know. It says I thought
you would know that before you came over here. Contagious. Yes,
it's spread through coughing or sneezing, especially in crowded places
like schools or offices or podcasts with another really good
looking co host cough.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yeah, well have a drink water.

Speaker 8 (05:31):
Which, by the way, I don't put any product in
my hair.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
It's I walked in today. I was like, all right,
what do you put in your hair?

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Because I'm always trying to find something the next best thing,
kind of fuller, richer or something.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
He goes nothing.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
I go, oh my god, yeah, I put nothing in
my hair. I two things. One, I'll talk your hair.
Then I'm gonna looking bath again. Somebody to bring up bath. Well,
so yeah, I don't put anything in my hair. I
don't ever fix my hair ever unless it's gonna be
on camera. Then someone will do it for me, of course,

(06:02):
and that's it. So my hair never use it. My
hair never gets fixed. There's no product than ever for
anything unless it's getting fixed by somebody. This is the
weird life that I live now that I don't care. However,
when I do care, I care a whole lot and
I pay somebody to do it.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
That's smart.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
That's I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I'm like, Okay,
should I put glue in today? Should I put should
I put hairspray after? Should I put a thickening thing
like you know, whatever it takes to keep it in place?
Because I just got just the free fall, flowing hair
and probably a little bit softening of the bald spot
in the buck that'll cover.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
It's the one place I'm out geneticing him and every
other thing he's got me.

Speaker 8 (06:39):
He is the six five whatever you are, six' five
Like greek.

Speaker 7 (06:42):
God And i'm, like, Hey i'm six six ft six
one and tall, shoes but great freaking, hair that's. Right
the other thing AND i was actually going to bring
this up about text. Messaging how AM i going to
say who it? Is AND i wonder if this ever
happens in your, life, okay where people will show up
and act like they're your friend whenever they can get
something from. You, Now i'll give you an. EXAMPLE i

(07:03):
will not say who it. Is there is an, Artist
i'd say very famous artists that we are very friendly
outside of WHATEVER i have going, professionally and.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Do you have a personal relationship.

Speaker 7 (07:18):
Is more than just, Professional BUT i wouldn't say full on,
Friend LIKE i have friends in this business that if
the business went, away they would still be my.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Friend got.

Speaker 7 (07:26):
It there's a Couple one of my best friends Is Brett,
eldridge who's the singer that dude AND i will be friends.
Forever there are some though that are in that mix
of if my job went, away do we still be?

Speaker 8 (07:37):
FRIENDLY i don't.

Speaker 7 (07:38):
Know and this person is very very, famous BUT i
would consider friendly in that mix Of AND i reached
out to them probably six weeks or so, ago AND
i was, like, hey you should come on this show
our podcast and no response AND i was, like all.
Right AND i try not to keep friends with people

(07:59):
that don't respond to text message generally unless unless're, sick
Unless i're.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Sick.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
BECAUSE i respond to text messages LIKE i do give
that respect for the most.

Speaker 8 (08:10):
Part where someone's, like, hey can you do? This will
you do? This, hey what's?

Speaker 7 (08:13):
UP i try to give something, back, Right and SO
i messaged him five or six weeks.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Ago.

Speaker 8 (08:19):
BOOM i hit him aria like three weeks.

Speaker 7 (08:21):
AGO i was, like, hey no, pressure but you should
combined and not a no OR i can't or, yes just.
Nothing and THEN i get a message, Yesterday, hey, brother
you're on my, mind SO i thought i'd send you a.

Speaker 8 (08:33):
Text what's?

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Happened and you?

Speaker 7 (08:34):
Good AND i know the whole reason is because there's
new music out.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Oh wow wow yeah yeah. Yeah so you scratch my.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Back But i'm really only going to respond to you
when you can do something for. Me you, CAN i
can come on your, show you can promote, me you
can do. That but you hit them up. TWICE i
hit him up as a, friend, Like, okay why don't
you come by on the?

Speaker 7 (08:54):
Podcast absolutely, yeah like BECAUSE i felt LIKE i, could,
right and if you ever needed me for, anything hit me,
Up i'll do.

Speaker 8 (09:00):
Whatever but then it's like you just respond. WHENEVER i.

Speaker 7 (09:04):
Know the worst is when there's an artist AND i
don't consider these people to be even my friendly. Friends
but IF i get a message with somebody going, like hey,
man we should get, together maybe have a beer and,
talk And i'm, LIKE i. DON'T i don't, drink so
you're full of. Crap you don't even know, Me you're
not my. Friend don't hit. Me you have to be
like you want to have a beer BECAUSE i know
what you're gonna. Do hey, MAN i got a, tour
would you promote?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
IT i got new?

Speaker 8 (09:25):
Music CAN i come on your?

Speaker 7 (09:26):
Show but, ANYWAY i was fired up FOR i walked
in here BECAUSE i got the hey brother message AND
i was, like, dude don't message me whenever you need.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Something were you thinking about me six weeks ago? Exactly
or three weeks ago?

Speaker 8 (09:38):
Exactly, also you can say no to anything OR i.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Can't why don't you just respond? Back, like, really, well
what were you thinking about when you thought on me? Today,
okay just let's let's play with. It let's See i'll do.

Speaker 7 (09:51):
That, yeah, really what were you thinking about when.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
You thought of? Me this is.

Speaker 7 (10:01):
AWESOME i almost don't want to even hop back in
the mix with this Person i'm going to for the
sake of the bit.

Speaker 8 (10:08):
Boom then you gotta ask them what he was WEARING i,
SENT i, Said but, yeah, no that's.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
Annoying does any did anyone ever do? That and you're
especially when you were, playing.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
You, KNOW i think when you're playing your the locker
room's one, thing but then it's the outside right of
whether it's an agent or it's different people part of
the media that want a piece of, you that are
calling you for one specific, reason or they give you
the off the, record or they do those kind of.
Things so you always have to keep people at arms.
Length and they could be people that you've known for,

(10:37):
years but kind of similar to what you're, saying you
think you know, somebody but then you really start to
see their true colors when they need something or they
want they want a piece of, information they want, tickets
they want tickets or any anything like. That and that's
just kind of part of being in the position that
we've been.

Speaker 7 (10:54):
In did you ever get requests for, like, hey, hey
Mad i'm talking a, While uh are you?

Speaker 8 (11:01):
Good will you sign a ball and send it to?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Me?

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Oh one hundred. Percent that happens all the. Time he
is it is it okay if you sign a jersey a?
Ball and at first the awkward ones are the ones
where they don't, say, Hey i'm going to send you a,
jersey can you sign?

Speaker 3 (11:16):
It like could you get me a jersey signed or a?

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Ball and then or if you especially WHEN i was
like playing With brady or some of these guys that you,
Know Adrian, Peterson they're, like, hey cas, uh any chance
you could Get brady to sign sign a jersey for? Me,
like and this is like not not necessarily for charity
or something where you can sell, it this is like
can you go up to your your teammate and ask

(11:43):
them to sign a jersey for your buddy or somebody
that you've known in your past that wants to give
it to their you, know father in.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Law for a.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Present And i'm, like, gosh that's Just and so that's
kind of when you don't respond as much because, LIKE
i just don't know if that's that's.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
COOL i just asked if you were. HEALTHY i didn't
even ask you to get signed for.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
ME i sign anything for. YOU i just want to
ask you do you have any? Medicine kind of cough
medicine you? Take did you just look? Healthy what do you?
Need let me tell you what we.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Have do you have all the methane blue and all that?

Speaker 8 (12:16):
STUFF i don't know what that, is so probably. Not
but we have a concierge. Doctor do you have one of?

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Those? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (12:22):
Okay and this IS i was in a lot of
different cities AND.

Speaker 7 (12:27):
I would have to like call and try to Get
IF i would get, Sick i'd have to call and be,
like call my. Doctor can you prescribe medicine across four state?
Lines i'm in Witch, Talk kansas And i'm sick and
have a show. TONIGHT i and my doctor was, like
you need a concierge doctor because your schedule is so
different and your needs are very.

Speaker 8 (12:43):
Different and so that MEANS i have a doctor THAT i.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
PAY i think it's like a thousand bucks a month or,
something and he's always available my wife AND i both
and he can prescribe things at any time twenty four.

Speaker 8 (12:54):
Hours he only has so many.

Speaker 7 (12:55):
Family oh, wow and they get WHAT i was going
to say is they gave us a pack this big
pack of it's got like forty numbers on it and
it's basically all the things that he thinks he'll need
at some. Point it could be anything from stuff for,
nausea it could be. Caught but it's all in a.
Pouch and So i'll call and be, like, hey just.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
Give you like a huge care package of medicine yep
that anywhere you go you can just throw in your
bag and be, Like.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
I'm a little nauseous after that fish yep.

Speaker 7 (13:22):
Boom and so you can call him and you're, hey
check number twenty. Seven there's antibiotics in there at number. Twenty,
well he can still call him in or he can
go check twenty seven or check nineteen or it's that's,
crazy it's.

Speaker 8 (13:35):
Awesome.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah and to, me you must have got the platinum.
CARE i.

Speaker 8 (13:39):
DID i got the PLAT i got The Platinum missedo.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Care.

Speaker 7 (13:42):
Yeah and so it's so so easy When i'm on the,
road CAULD i just take the. PACK i would have
never even known about this except my doctor was, like
you're calling us at eight. Pm nobody's. Open so you're
going to the portal Going i'm sick AND i have a.
Show it's, like you need to invest in a concierge.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
Doctor.

Speaker 8 (14:00):
Yeah and apparently they're starting to be, more do you
know think about?

Speaker 7 (14:02):
Them never even heard of it Until, YEAH i don't
THINK i would have there because it's it's mostly like
an art like a traveling artist type thing or a
rich person. Thing and at this POINT i Guess i'm both. Both,
yeah SO i haven't always. BEEN i have health care
for alls of my. Life my coffee is my, laugh,
yes but NOW i. Am and so at first WHEN
i HAD i wasn't that. RICH i was like the

(14:24):
only kind of. Rich but now it's like it's a
lifesaver for, anybody even like.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Athletes oh, yeah anybody that, well they they'll come, over
give you AN.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
IVY i guess you have doctors with you, too.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Though Try, yeah when if you're at a stadium or
you're part of a team or, organization they have doctors
there on a daily basis and trainers and everything.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Else so that's kind of that was your.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Concierge but then after you're being a, concierge then after you're,
done you start to, realize oh, MAN i gotta go
to the doctor and make an appointment and do all.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
That that's a.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Lie that's a life changer right, there when everything was
at the tip of your fingertips when you could just
go anywhere and just make one phone call and they
get you right in front of. Line boom boom, boom
and then all of a sudden you become a normal.
Civilian you're, like this sucks because you're. Spoiled you're spoiled
for fourteen years of playing in THE nfl where any
care that you, needed any back issue or anything like,

(15:14):
that they'd immediately put you to the front line and get.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
You what you.

Speaker 8 (15:17):
Needed you need Doctor jeremy to come over and.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
Yuh crack your, back no. Problem, oh we've got a
masseuse right over.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
There that would be.

Speaker 7 (15:23):
Awesome and you've earned, it so it's not like you're
being spoiled for no.

Speaker 8 (15:26):
Reason it's not like you're A saudi prints born into.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
It you earned it by working and being good enough
to be an elite athlete and at a professional.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Level, yeah but it's still you're spoil, yeah because you
take it for. Granted when you're, there you're, like, oh
this is the.

Speaker 7 (15:37):
LIFE i THINK i would get used to snacks all the. Time,
oh they got a lot of. That that would be
WHAT i would be spoiled.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
By that hall is.

Speaker 7 (15:43):
Awesome it's just the ability to have constant food and.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Snacks, oh you come in for breakfast and they've got,
pancakes they've got the omelet, station they've got scrambled, eggs
they've got bacon, everything and then they've got the fruit.
Bar and then you come in for lunch and they've
Got panini's or they've got the fish of the, day
the meat of the.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
DAY i, mean it is a different way of.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
Living we're going to talk To Nick sirianni and Little
bit that's your, boy that's my. Boy, yeah super cool
friend to come. On so we'll talk To. Nick coming
up in just a few. Minutes we'll take.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
A, break be back after. This The browns And.

Speaker 7 (16:29):
Colts both release their quarterback death, chart and So i've
got some questions for. You The browns released theirs And
flacco's a One Pickett gabriel.

Speaker 8 (16:37):
In studer and that's the order for, two three and.

Speaker 7 (16:40):
Four but all those guys two three and four hamstring
hamstring arm. Soreness so they just Signed Snoop. Huntley so
now they have five six if you Include Deshaun, watson
which you should because he's never gonna play again. There
but he's still on the, team he's.

Speaker 8 (16:55):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
ARMS a lot of quarterbacks how arm?

Speaker 7 (16:57):
Soreness, well tell me about arms, soreness BECAUSE i, like
IF i work out, Hard i'm.

Speaker 8 (17:01):
Sore but that's like lactic acid, sore.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
RIGHT i, mean you can arm soreness for, sure especially
early on in, camp and usually it's a byproduct of
just the volume of throws that you're having because you're
going through it from drill to drill to drill to.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Drill you're throwing.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
One on, ones you're throwing individual, routes and you go
to team periods seven on, seven and so a lot
of the especially with young guys in, particular you're staying.
After for a guy like SHADOR i would guess that
is trying to get some extra reps at the end of,
practice kind of just.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
Visualization throw into a, spot it might.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Be so you're pushing yourself to get your arm and,
shape but your arm's not there, yet just based on
the volume of, throws and so a lot of times
you don't calculate, that and you're not on a pitch
count like they do for, baseball so you naturally will
get some more ice to get arm.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Soreness in the.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Back but again the biggest part of being a quarterback
is you have this prehab routine that you, do which
is different shoulder exercises to help to build the back
of your back of your shoulder to protect your, elbow
but also get in the, ice get in, there get,
ice get rubbed, down do all those. Things and sometimes
for young quarterbacks it takes them a little bit of
time in maturity to figure that out and not just

(18:07):
say look i'm, Young i'm, good and so that can.
Happen then, hamstrings oh, Man i've never really had a,
hamstring to be honest with, you Because i'm not A.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
FERRARI i was more of like a, glider you, know
more of like that a.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Truck, yeah you, KNOW i can kind of get going
once and Once i'm, going But i'm not gonna like
take off and be like the twitchiest athlete where these guys,
NOWADAYS i Know Dylan gabriel And Kenny pickett can probably
run around a little bit as. Well but the hamstring
is foreign to, me especially in, practice because practice is
one of those things where you're not running like a
lot of quarterback designed. Runs i'm guessing now you might

(18:43):
do some of these zone reads and stuff to just
to get a feel in some of these run periods
to keep the defense. Honest but the only time you're
really running is say the defense covers everybody and you're
trying to keep the play, alive which we always try
to do to keep it, realistic and you run and
then you take off running in like a seven on,
seven so pulling your. HAMSTRING i don't really know how
you do that all the, time but people do do,
it and it's probably because they're just superior athletes than

(19:06):
WHAT i.

Speaker 7 (19:06):
Was IF i were to make a prediction of how
The browns quarterback situation is going to turn, OUT i
would say. THIS i would Say Joe flacco is very
much a serviceable quarterback and should be the starter BECAUSE
i think he's better than the three, quarterbacks and he
will start barring an. INJURY i think what will happen
is if The browns lose some, GAMES i think you'll
See Dylan gabriel up. NEXT i don't Think Kenny pickett

(19:28):
really ever gets to. PLAY i don't see. THAT i
don't see how or Why Canny pickett would ever be.
Involved they drafted two, quarterbacks one in the third. Round
shoulder in the.

Speaker 8 (19:37):
Fifth they Have Joe.

Speaker 7 (19:38):
Flacco Kenny pickett's kind of in a weird, purgatory IS i.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Mean and that's the crazy part About Kenny pickett is
because he was the first rounder, himself, right and he
goes To pittsburgh and at that point he played a
little bit In PITTSBURGH i think his rookie year and
was hurt with some concussions and stuff like. THAT i
believe that's what he. Had, nonetheless he kind of fell
out of favor. There and now you're in a position
with The browns where you're kind of that. Middleman you're,

(20:04):
competing but you bringing two young guns to kind of
take that position because they don't want to probably pay
a veteran, guy even though he's probably cheap right.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Now but this is his.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Opportunity if he can go in and actually beat Out
Joe flacco and they think that they can give him a.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Lift this would be his.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Opportunity but like you, said if they Start Joe flacco
and then they start to falter at some point in the,
season they're going to want to take a look at
one of these young guys and see what they.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
Have the other very interesting part about the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Situation when you have four, guys you don't dress all
four of those guys for the. Game so they're gonna
have to make a decision whether It's Dylan shador who's
going to dress for the game as an emergency, quarterback
because not all four quarterbacks are coming to the game
dressed up right to rock and.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
Roll so it's not like you're gonna be sitting there
and should we put your door?

Speaker 4 (20:46):
On should we Put you're going to know pretty soon
when they have to put out the game list of
who's going to be up in eligible before the, game
who's going to be available to?

Speaker 7 (20:54):
Play And i've never been interested in The brown's quarterback
situation just generally. Speaking, right it's really SOMETHING i don't
invest a lot of. Time, man this one's very. INTERESTING
i Think flacco's starts the first four or five. GAMES
i think the brown don't win. Much they want to
take a look at their other. Guys BUT i think
the guys you want to take a look at Aren't Kenny.
PICKETT i think the guys you want to take a
look at and give snaps. Too once the season's over
or once the season is not trending in the direction

(21:15):
that you, want and it's not going to.

Speaker 8 (21:16):
Be The browns are not going to be good this.
Year Is Dylan.

Speaker 7 (21:19):
Gabriel and then if he doesn't do, well Which i'm
betting he won't at first because he's a, rookie no other,
reason he's a. Rookie then you go to shudder and
he's not going to do well either because he's a.
Rookie he might have little pops and then you're kind
of going to be back at square one again without
really giving either of these rookie quarterbacks a for real
look because there's another rookie quarterback right over the. Shoulder

(21:41):
if it doesn't go, well, right AND i Think pickett
is just they're, floundering going what's happened that there's no
reason to give him any.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Snaps, well the biggest, thing, too is you're going to
have three preseason, games, right so these guys are going
to get a majority of those snaps if they can.
Go obviously you've got hamstring's more of an issue than shoulder.
Shortness i'm, Sorry like you can play with shoulder. Soreness
why is that so?

Speaker 7 (22:03):
Hard And i'll be able to say it that you're
walking At monia could you said it great when you're
healthy two.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Weeks, YEAH i.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
Did but when you talk about a, hamstring if a
guy has a tweaked, hamstring he won't be able to.
Go and these preseason games are going to be pivotal
to kind of determine that depth chart because those guys
will get a majority of. Snaps they know What Joe
flacco can, do they know what he's he's been able to,
do and so they're gonna want to see these guys
in action and even give them reps with the first,

(22:28):
team say the second preseason, game the third preseason, game
just to see how they, respond how they control the,
huddle and how they go out and run this. Offense
so it's really important for these guys all to go
out and play well in the.

Speaker 7 (22:40):
PRESEASON i would think If Kenny pikett wasn't, injured he'd
be perfect trade bait for a team that just needed
a quarterback to get through the.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Year RIGHT i think he's in a great position right
now to be that guy that gets traded for a
team that maybe needs ay even an injury where you
can come in and play he's played, before or a
guy that they don't have a lot of trust in
their backup. Quarterback they got a young backup quarterback that
they need to bring, in a guy that's got some
experience that adds to the room that he's the guy

(23:11):
that's definitely would be. Available and then you also have
the two young, guys and that also comes with the
belief of what do you see in these young guys
With Dylan gabriel and Shad Or, Sanders AND.

Speaker 8 (23:21):
I think you have to look at them in order
to see.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
You have to see him. Play.

Speaker 7 (23:26):
Yeah the other quarterback STORY i want to talk about
is The. Colts they release their depth chart and number
one Is Daniel jones Or Anthony richardson or yeah big
Or AND i think it's going to Be Daniel. Jones
BUT i, mean are they just not wanting to Hurt
Anthony richards's? Feelings like why would you or if you

(23:46):
really felt Because Daniel jones has taking more of the
first team snaps right now.

Speaker 4 (23:50):
Right especially With Anthony richardson out with the, Shoulder SO i,
MEAN i think it's going to come down to camp as.
Well and you don't know how from day to, day
right you're seeing these, Guys you're being evaluated everything from
the two minute drill to the, seven seven to the,
eleven nine to, eleven and.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
So you don't.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Know we don't have boots on the ground to see
these guys perform day in and day, out to see
what the evaluation's taking. Place because you can hear the
rumors and all, this but a lot of times all
you hear on the social media pages and stuff is oh,
well so and so through a. Pick they don't also
talk about like the great throw he had over the
middle with pressure in his. Face so you just never

(24:28):
know how it's going to work. Out Anthony richardson is
a physical freak like he's a guy that still needs.
Development Daniel jones is a guy THAT i think can
resurrect his career and also somebody THAT.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
I think could go and win a lot of ballgames
for this. TEAM i think so.

Speaker 7 (24:43):
TOO i Think Daniel jones can be a really good
quarterback in a really good. SYSTEM i think he can
be a good quarterback and a really good.

Speaker 8 (24:50):
SYSTEM i.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
Too he's got a great skill, set throws a beautiful.
Ball he can do it with his. Feet he's not
the freakish athlete That anthony Rich richardson, is but he's
more polished as a pure.

Speaker 7 (25:02):
Passer i'll also say he's more of a freakish halfway.
THEN i think most people will give him credit for
because he's. White, yeah we think he's not a runner
because he's he looks like a slow white. Guy everything
about him is a slow white guy.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Quarterback but you take off he also and he goes
for like forty and you're, like, oh.

Speaker 8 (25:19):
DANG i Think Anthony richardson can be a really good.

Speaker 7 (25:21):
QUARTERBACK i think that what we're seeing now more and
more of in THE, nfl aside from The Jaden daniels
or the C. J, strouds which they are anomalies in.

Speaker 8 (25:29):
Themselves, yep although C.

Speaker 7 (25:30):
J stroud your two wasn't the, best still, good, RIGHT
i say it's rookie quarterback comes.

Speaker 8 (25:35):
On they play them, immediately they.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
Fail they then they sit back a year in order
to appease the fan base to get, it and then
they get to come back after playing and learning and
then sitting and, learning which is opposed to sitting and
learning and then. PLAYING i think this is kind of
the new on. Schedule you're a, rookie you're drafted, High
we're going to play you. Well didn't work, out you're
not right now the version Of jaden OR. C. J.
Stroud so now we're going to bench you behind somebody

(25:59):
else and eventually you will get another look somewhere else
or with us.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Right and that's the part about these organizations where you're
in dire need of a quarterback to come in and
play right, away and sometimes you'll go out and take a.
Flyer Early Anthony, RICHARDSON i don't think anybody believed that
he was going to go as high as he. Did
but he went out to the combine and performed the
way that he did and showed these freakish qualities and

(26:24):
he probably.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Wasn't ready when they put him into.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Play and great examples like back in the, day you
had a guy Like Carson, palmer who's my, teammate sat
Behind Kurt kinna for.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
An entire, year didn't. Play he was the number one
overall draft.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
Pick so general philosophy on how to develop these guys has,
changed where they were willing to sit and let this
guy learn how to be a, professional understand the offensive,
scheme and develop and mature as a, quarterback and then
go in when you're ready to, play maybe year two
but then now you're kind of forced into action right
away and it's either sink or, Swim and when they

(26:58):
don't do, well they're, like, oh, well he's a Bus
no he's. Not he's still. Developing he's a young kid
that's learning the, game the speed of the, game all
the intricate details of the, defense, offense and how to be.
Successful that it takes time on not necessarily the best,
teams bad teams at, times to be a really good.

Speaker 7 (27:16):
QUARTERBACK i think you lose value a bit too as
a rookie quarterback your second year if you suck, Again,
yes and so your ceiling in the eyes of the
other teams falls a bit where if you go one
year and you kind of. Suck but he also didn't always.
Suck the THING i didn't like was him coming out
of the game because he was. Tired that's still weird to.
Me that was so, weird but extremely dynamic at times too,

(27:39):
Right and SO i think his, value even to be
traded is still extremely high because of the. Potential if
he came out year two and sucked as well year,
two IMMEDIATELY i think his value drops right to trade
to somebody.

Speaker 8 (27:52):
Else so If Daniel jones is your.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
Guy you don't Play Anthony, richson you trade, him you
get a third and a fourth round, pick and you
have your quarterback and you move your old quarterback for
something in the. Future which ARE i just made up those,
numbers third and fourth round, Pick but they Have Riley,
leonard who is It Notre? Dame is That Notre dame
as the number? Two, listen if you're behind or you're number,
three you're number. Three you're not the number. Two you're

(28:16):
the number three quarterback and is in front of? Me,
yes because the word or they're they're not both.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
One, yeah just like if they go With Daniel, Jones
Anthony richardson's not going to drop down to. Three, correct that's,
funny nothing. Happened Anthony richardson is name to. Star Daniel
jones is not dropping down to, three that's.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Right so But.

Speaker 8 (28:34):
Riley leonard your number three, buddy you may be. There
you're number three right, Now.

Speaker 7 (28:39):
So that's what's. Up those are the quarterback. Situations, yeah it's.
INTERESTING i did see your Boy brady is getting the.

Speaker 9 (28:43):
Statue, YEAH i hope they put the one of him
at the. COMBINE i saw you tweet that just full
On caveman. Style you posted the picture you post was so,
fuzzy did You?

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Internet? Yeah somebody did be. Sick, YEAH i was.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
SICK i was hooped up on coding and cough.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Medicine this looks, funny does? It, no it's. Grainy it
was so.

Speaker 7 (29:05):
Funny. Though The patriots will unveil The Bronze brady statue
ahead of their preseason opener On, friday versus The. Commanders
brady And Robert kraft are expected to speak at the.
CEREMONY i have other statues that should, exist but for
non football, REASONS i love.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
This, okay let's go number.

Speaker 8 (29:23):
One i'll tell you, who and Then i'll tell you
why they deserve a.

Speaker 7 (29:26):
Statue, Okay Mark sanchez to commemorate the most graceful self
sack IN nfl, history the butt.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
Fumble how great would that statue be of? Him just
like starting to go like.

Speaker 8 (29:36):
This, yep right into the.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Butt there's a butt, there all kind of coming.

Speaker 8 (29:42):
Out it's you, know mid. Dive he's right into the.

Speaker 7 (29:45):
Butt you see him and then you just see the
butt and that's the.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Statue it's amazing how he just gets waylaid.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
With that all the. Time, yeah it's.

Speaker 7 (29:55):
Memorable it's a Core sanchez.

Speaker 8 (29:57):
Memory and he was and he did lead under the.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
Playoffs, yeah they went to THE i think the.

Speaker 8 (30:01):
Championship number.

Speaker 7 (30:03):
Two Tony romo not quarterback play, Though oh, Gosh Tony.

Speaker 8 (30:08):
Romo will be like the. Thinker you, know he has
his hand on the street.

Speaker 7 (30:10):
For being able to pick plays in the, booth so
he's like the, thinker but he's wearing a.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
Headset wearing a, headset, YEAH i mean when he came
on the, scene, dude and he was talking about the
stuff that we kind of talked about but was able
to articulate it and, saying, hey look at the the
safety went out with the tight end on the. Outside
that's your one on one, matchup and then they'd throw
it to him and everybody's, like oh my.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
God they made him, stop.

Speaker 7 (30:32):
Huh they asked him to stop doing that really because.

Speaker 8 (30:34):
It was so.

Speaker 7 (30:35):
On, yeah and him predicting plays was kind of killing
some of the what's going to happen?

Speaker 8 (30:40):
Next they asked him to stop predicting.

Speaker 7 (30:41):
Plays oh, wow because he was it was unbelievable how
good he. Was he probably still would, be but they
had him stopped doing that so Much, yeah he had.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
A BEAUTIFUL i MEAN i played with him and he
is a beautiful football, mind just really really understood the.

Speaker 8 (30:56):
Game what kind of guy Was Tony romo just to
hang around?

Speaker 3 (30:59):
With big me guy liked himself From. Romo is he
a jacked up? Dude? Uh i'd say he's, fit not.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
Jacked it's crazy coming from a small college you think
of like he's the underdog of.

Speaker 8 (31:11):
It he's like about everybody.

Speaker 7 (31:13):
Else BUT i can see that, now especially like WHEN
i watch some of his social media.

Speaker 8 (31:16):
Stuff he seems like a big me.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Guy, yeah he's a me. Guy but at the same
time great.

Speaker 8 (31:20):
Dude LIKE i think most quarterbacks have to be me.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Guys, yeah great, dude great interactions with the, team definite
leader of the, team everything like.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
That but like to Tell Tony romo, stories.

Speaker 7 (31:29):
You, know ODDLY i like to Tell Tony romo story. Too,
Ye tony wone WANT i have that in. Common next,
Up Philip rivers and his statue would be Yelling dad
gummant and have nine little guy like nine little statues around.

Speaker 8 (31:41):
Him yeah, yeah yeah, yeah and there'd be a van
maybe in the.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
Background they do have, nine, right he hasn't any? More
sense he.

Speaker 8 (31:47):
HAS i think he has a grandkid now, too a.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Grandkid i'm almost.

Speaker 7 (31:51):
Positive That Philip rivers has a grand. Kid, now, wow
you may fact check me on that.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Please, yep he's a.

Speaker 8 (31:58):
Grandfather, yeah how hold is his oldest.

Speaker 3 (32:01):
Son a year?

Speaker 10 (32:01):
Ago Making rivers a grandfather forty?

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Two doesn't say?

Speaker 7 (32:06):
Her so if he's forty, two and let's just say
he had is it a? Girl, YES i had her
at twenty, two so she's twenty.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Yeah, yeah yeah that's not.

Speaker 6 (32:15):
Teen.

Speaker 10 (32:15):
Mom she was born in two thousand and, two so
she's twenty.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
Three there you.

Speaker 7 (32:20):
Go, okay, yeah, yeah the statue would have nine kids,
around BUT i.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Guess kids and a little grandchildren child with.

Speaker 8 (32:25):
Him that's.

Speaker 7 (32:26):
True, yeah but would you have a kid BECAUSE i
don't want them all to be like in the young.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Stage oh you want him to like full?

Speaker 7 (32:33):
Adults, NO i, KNOW i want all the statue kids
to be young. Children So rivers would have to be
a Younger rivers in the. Statue, okay, yeah, yeah no grandkids,
yet this is like.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
No grand kids in the.

Speaker 7 (32:44):
Statue, yeah next, Up Jay, cutler.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Yeah Smoking Jay.

Speaker 7 (32:48):
Color, yeah that's exactly it for achieving the RARE nfl
feet of looking like he could not care any. Less
his bronze would be him like laying back on the
beach smoking cigarette or.

Speaker 8 (32:59):
Vape oh, dude eyes halfway.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
Closed love That just, yeah he had that. Face it
just was, like this is.

Speaker 8 (33:06):
AWFUL i want to say something About Jay.

Speaker 7 (33:07):
Cutler i've been able to spend a little bit of
time Around Jay, cutler and he's a large guy and
he doesn't seem like he would be this exceptional, athlete
but god dang he. Is he was mister basketball In,
indiana was he?

Speaker 3 (33:26):
REALLY i did not know that the.

Speaker 7 (33:27):
Fact check, me BUT i think he was mister basketball
and possibly mister football as. Well AND i played in
a celebrity softball game against, him one of the. Things
and these games get heated later in the game at
the beginning part of the.

Speaker 8 (33:40):
Game everybody's having a good times for a.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
Charity it was hot near the, end AND i was
playing Against cutler's, team and SO i THINK i was
playing first base or something in our pitcher or. WHATEVER
i go in to pitch And color had smashed two,
balls And i'm, Like i'm not throwing him a, Pitch
SO i just take the ball and throw it on
the ground to walk him on. Purpose, oh you're gonna walk.
Him he golfed a home. Run it bounced up just a.

(34:03):
Little he reached down and.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Went, what that's pretty solid right.

Speaker 7 (34:06):
There that's WHEN i was, like this, GUY i don't
care how many cigarettes he, smokes, like dude is a plus,
ATHLETE a.

Speaker 8 (34:14):
Plus what do you?

Speaker 3 (34:15):
See he was not mister, basketball but he Was all
state in.

Speaker 8 (34:18):
Basketball, yeah all?

Speaker 3 (34:19):
State, yeah well good.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
Enough absolute cannon like the guy could rip it anywhere
on the.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
Field it was impressive to.

Speaker 7 (34:27):
Watch two more, statues two more torell. Owens but he's
doing sit ups on the. Sidewalk, NO i like that.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
One that was a memorable.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Moment shirtless up taking taking interviews why?

Speaker 8 (34:39):
Not and then Finally Aaron.

Speaker 7 (34:41):
Rodgers, now this one's going to take a little bit
of work because you have to build it like like
a cave type. Place oh his darkness. Cave, yeah his
statue there's a, cave like it's like a. Hole and
then you don't actually see him unless you go. In
and then you have to go in and it's very
dark and it's hard to see. Him you long, hair he,
does it's long. Haired aaron and he's back in the

(35:02):
back of the cave in.

Speaker 4 (35:03):
Dark, yes and then what was the castaway where they've
got like the little.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Volleyball oh, Yeah. Wilson.

Speaker 7 (35:11):
Yeah and there's and there's like a sign behind him
that says no, vaccines no.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
Vaccines, yeah no. Vaccines smoked us.

Speaker 8 (35:19):
Yes, yes, yeah, yeah some.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Ayahuasca, yes that would probably be good for my walking. Pneumonia,
yeah probably would probably filled better.

Speaker 8 (35:28):
Anyway, okay all, RIGHT i love the.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
Statues All, RIGHT.

Speaker 8 (35:47):
I gonna talk with Coach Nick.

Speaker 7 (35:48):
Sirianni, now he's the head coach of The Philadelphia. Eagles
he won A Super bowl last, year and he is
your former quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Coach former quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
Coach first year at The, gate he was quality, control
became our quarterback.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Coach great, guy great.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
Coach i've kept my relationship up with him over the,
years so it'll be fun to talk to.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
Him.

Speaker 8 (36:07):
Here he is Super bowl Champion Nick. Sirianni All, right
welcome to.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
This show one of my good, friends Super bowl winning
Coach Nick. Seriani thank, you. Congratulations. Congratulations what a, year,
buddy what a. Year, YEAH i mean it was.

Speaker 3 (36:29):
Awesome, yeah let's talk about.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
THIS i, mean you go into last year high, expectations
but to go and finish it in the fashion that you,
did kind of going out and beating a team that
beats you two years ago in The Super, bowl and
to go out and do it against The chiefs and
really just dominate them from the. Jump talk to me
about that whole whole experience and what it was like for, you your,

(36:51):
family everybody.

Speaker 5 (36:52):
ELSE i, mean it was a special.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Ride anytime you have a season like, that you think
back and man and what a special ride it, was
and you think about the, journey, right because the journey was.
Special the relationships that you have and the and the
the wins that you have in the locker room celebrations you,
have and the tough practices and when things didn't go,
good the adversity that you, had and so it was

(37:15):
just it was a, special special ride as far as,
uh you, know just the, being you, know with the
guys on the. Team and then to think about all
the celebrations that happened, Afterwards, uh you, know whether it
was my kids coming on the field after the, game
or hugging my parents or kissing my wife after the,
game or the parade or all those. Things it was,

(37:36):
Special but you, know obviously now you know we're onto
we're onto the new. Season we're middle of training. Camp
uh and and it's tough to look. Back you'll you'll
always have the ability to look back and special, ride
but you, know we're trying to get ready for the
season now and uh and uh hopefully we can continue
to get.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
Better how hard is it to come down from the
highs of the highs what you just, said like the,
parade the all those different memorable. Moments when do you know,
That like you're getting back into the season in, mode
ready to rock and roll and are able to put
that behind.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
You, gosh it happened so, quick, RIGHT i mean with
in our. Case in our, case you, Know Kellen moore
gets the job day after the. Game it felt like
or whenever that. WAS i don't quite. RECALL i know he.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
Wasn't at the.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Parade i'm still mad at him for not coming to the,
parade but.

Speaker 5 (38:29):
You know he'd get.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Ready but it happened so, Quick like you, know so
you go through it because you got To you got
to replace, Coaches you got to get good coaches in
because you, know we got a lot of really good,
players but our job as coaches has developed those guys
and getting the right guys in here is such.

Speaker 5 (38:44):
An important job that you, know because our quarterback.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Coach, left you know how important that position is to
fill the quarterback position the, coach and so you know.

Speaker 5 (38:53):
It you have to turn the page.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Fast, now that doesn't mean that you don't go to
the to the ring ceremony and celebrate the year as you,
know and or the parade and sell break that and
have a great time that. Day but you, know it happens,
quick and especially on a short offseason you're watching draft.
GUYS i, mean that's WHAT i felt like when we
when we got off the plane From New.

Speaker 5 (39:16):
Orleans i'm, like.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Man i'm USUALLY i got a lot of draft guys
to watch and free agents to, watch, like and so
it goes.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
Quick but you still enjoy those moments as you know
that that you go.

Speaker 7 (39:26):
Through that you go through when in the celebration, coach
when you hire a new, coordinator because obviously you're coming
Off Super bowl. Win you want to keep as much
of what allowed you to win as, possible but you
have somebody new coming. In is it a hybrid like
with language with what you're doing. Offensively, uh and what
the new guy. Brings also with what the new, guy

(39:47):
you want him to keep doing that you guys.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
Did, yeah you, Know Kevin patullo has been.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Here he was the receiver coach with us WHEN i
was a coordinator In. Indianapolis matter of, Fact, matt he
was the quality control At Kansas city BEFORE i was
the quality.

Speaker 5 (40:04):
Controller out of. Here. Yeah, yeah he's a he's a
Chain gaily.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Guy so ACTUALLY i Knew kevin all the way back
then When chan was getting ready for we were getting
ready for the, Season, Like, hey why don't you Call
kevin and get?

Speaker 5 (40:15):
This and SO i had a relationship.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
There and then we had an opportunity to Hire kevin
And indy and so we were together all through. That
and then he's been here all five he's my he's
my right hand. Man he's been here all five four
years here going on our fifth year. Here so this
is My this is my eighth year eighth, yeah eighth
year With. Kevin and you, know he's he's been he's
seen the things that have worked, here he's seen the

(40:37):
things that have not.

Speaker 5 (40:38):
Worked he's been through revolutions of the, offense.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
And you, know and he and he obviously has ideas
that he has, too and so you, KNOW i think
it was a seamless transition there and, that and you,
Know kellen's obviously a great, coach but a really easy
transition there With kelln or With kevin being the. Coordinator
his relationship with the, players it's almost like you. STARTED i, mean,

(41:01):
shoot when you're when you're able to promote guys within the,
building AND i always think that's the best way to
go about.

Speaker 5 (41:07):
It And kevin's a, star And i'm REALLY i see
how hungry he. Is i'm really looking forward To.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Uh i've really enjoyed watching him coach in this role
that he's in now and look forward to the things
that he's gonna.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
Do talk about good coordinator Hires Vic fangio last, year,
right he comes in talk to us about what he.
Brought and then, also you guys obviously lost some Guys Milton,
Williams Darius slay in this. Offseason how do you replace
guys like that that were major contributors on the defensive.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
Side, Yeah, vic you, know he's been doing this at
such a high level for such a long. Time WHAT
i love About vic is that he is somebody that
continues to grow in his you, know in his. Field you,
know he just he's always looking for ways to get.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
Better you.

Speaker 2 (41:57):
CAN'T i can't walk by his office without tape being
played in. There you, know he's in there watching tape
at all. Times he's just in. This he just has
what we want as an, organization as a, team this
growth mindset that regardless of how good his defenses has,
been he's just looking for ways to. Grow regardless of
how we've been in the, Past we're just looking for
ways to. Grow so he fits so well into that,

(42:19):
culture our culture here of what we want to. Be
and obviously his resume speaks for, itself, like you, know
he's been a good coordinator for. DECADES i, mean that's
that's you, Know i've been in THE nfl for fifteen.
Years vic's been a good coordinator for, decades multiple and
that that's. Unbelievable that's what you You that's such a

(42:39):
comforting thing as a head coach when you have somebody
on the on the other side of the ball that
is that good at their.

Speaker 5 (42:45):
Job as far as you, know the guys that you,
know when.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
You you go through this whole, thing you have great
relationships with your.

Speaker 5 (42:54):
Players we want that's what we want. It that's what
we want it to. Be, like you, know you can have.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
IT i always, say you can have a ton of.
Fun you can have great relationships and still be highly
demanding and and so you can develop these great relationships
and then the guys you, know leave for different, reasons
and that's always, hard especially when you go through an
awesome journey like we went through last. Year So i'll
dearly miss those. Guys And I'm i'm watching them and

(43:22):
hoping that they're doing they do their best and and,
uh you, know play the same type of football they
played while they were. Here you, KNOW i think there's
always a really little reflection of the former coaches when
they go out and, play, right are they still you,
Know i'm always, looking are they tackling? Well are they
getting off blocks while they you, know all those things
that's a reflection of.

Speaker 5 (43:40):
Us So i'm always rooting for them in that.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
Manner but we'll definitely miss some of, it but really
excited about you, know there's nobody as good at their
job in this world As Howie roseman as a as
A gm and so you, know he brought in a
lot of good guys and good pieces for us to
be able to work, with and our job as coaches
is to develop put them in positions to succeed with our,
schemes but also help them develop as players with their

(44:05):
with their fundamentals and and all the things in their
detail and you, know all those different. Things and so
that's what's. Awesome and you're constantly just trying to form a.
Team this is a new. Team how do we become
a team every single? Day and so that's what's been
really fun about training camp so far is this is
a new, ride new, journey new mountain to, climb however
you want to say. It you, know how are we

(44:25):
getting a little bit better each?

Speaker 4 (44:27):
Day?

Speaker 7 (44:27):
Coach what's your philosophy on fights and? Camp seems like
they happen everywhere and mostly guys just get irritated at
practicing all the time and like to play. GAMES i
don't know what's a real fight and what's just a camp.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
Fight, yeah you, know in a, game in a, game
and we try to play it by the rules as
much as we do in a, game, right whether that's
jumping off, sides, holding defensive, holding offensive, holding whatever it may.

Speaker 5 (44:49):
Be you, know we have officials.

Speaker 2 (44:50):
Out there out there at, practice and we want to
play by the same rules you have.

Speaker 5 (44:55):
On the.

Speaker 2 (44:56):
Field so you, know anytime you're you're, swinging or you're
you're throwing a, punch or you're you, know anything like,
that that's going to be a penalty and you're not
going to be in the game. Anymore so you know
that would be that's our.

Speaker 5 (45:08):
Role, now this is.

Speaker 2 (45:09):
Football there's always going to be some pushing and shoving that.
Happens there's always going to be some trash talk and
different things like. That but our job as players and
as coaches is to, play you, know within the rules
of the. Game and so you know in practice that
we expect the same things when it comes to fighting

(45:30):
as that we do with the rules of the, game
because we know that tempers can always run. High this
is a very emotional. GAME i would be a liar
IF i told You i'm not. EMOTIONAL i think you
guys Know i'm, emotional and SO i want our guys
to be. EMOTIONAL i want them to show their, personality
but we have to do it all the rules in the,
game and that that same thing applies in. Fighting and

(45:52):
so you're looking to get. Great you're looking to have
great competitiveness right with a bunch of guys who have
been winning their entire lives and want to win each
drill well and want to win each. Period you're looking
for them to play with great, physicality, right with great,

(46:13):
temperament while all while keeping their emotions in. Check it's,
hard it's not, easy but we know we know this,
too that it's not the best groups of individuals that.
Wins it's the best teams that. Win and constantly you're
trying to come together as a. Team and so that's
our that's our. Philosophy that's a good. Question that's our.
Philosophy And i'm fighting in.

Speaker 3 (46:33):
Camp, okay mister.

Speaker 4 (46:35):
Philosophy can you tell me how many times you've blown
up this camp on another? Coach come, on you've had
to have that. MOMENT i know you're an emotional rollercoaster at.
Times you definitely have hit the RED i.

Speaker 5 (46:52):
HAVE i Think danny, WOODHEAD i don't. Know, yeah you, Know, Dan,
YEAH i.

Speaker 2 (46:57):
Know. Danny he used to call me the. Tornado he,
said oh, boy and he's about to.

Speaker 5 (47:02):
Snap you, go you do the?

Speaker 2 (47:04):
Tornados found IF i had A tornado moment in, CAMP
i would say, no BUT i would assume that maybe
some of the assistant coaches would say yes if. Not you,
KNOW i think that music sometimes is so loud out
there THAT i save a lot of my emotion and
our and our corrections on tape for the film. Room

(47:26):
AND i think, we, uh we do a good job
of correcting it and setting the standard in. There and,
UH i do get you know what, though as emotion,
LIKE i feel LIKE i get just as excited about
the good stuff AS i do angry about the bad.
STUFF i can say that about. Myself so there's been a.
There maybe there's been a couple of tornado, sightings As
Danny wood had like to put.

Speaker 7 (47:44):
It So i've heard about this guy that these were cut,
off and they call Him pipes because his arm for freaking.
Big i'm curious to know about who This pipes guy
was back in the.

Speaker 8 (47:53):
Day The castle tells me.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
About, yeah that's the guy that played small small school college.

Speaker 5 (48:00):
Football three time national.

Speaker 11 (48:01):
Champion, yeah and before the, race the demands of a
coach where you don't get you, know EVERYTHING i read
now When i'm trying to lose some of the body fat.

Speaker 5 (48:12):
THAT i have now and some of the weight THAT i.

Speaker 2 (48:14):
Have now everything's, like, oh, okay you got to eat right,
well that doesn't happen in the. Season you gotta you
got to uh sleep, well that doesn't happen the. Season
you gotta eliminate stress that doesn't happen in the. Season
and so my pipes days are over because of the
long journey in the coaching of the coaching, WORLD i
have no.

Speaker 4 (48:33):
Chance you definitely have a bar belt in your office
and just totally pull up your arm right after a.

Speaker 3 (48:38):
Longdown i'm not.

Speaker 5 (48:39):
LYING i got to pull up Our.

Speaker 3 (48:40):
YEAH i knew. IT i knew it for.

Speaker 4 (48:42):
Sure, hey do you ever get pistophically? Here and everybody
Critique Jalen hurts is like a game, manager and he's

(49:04):
just the. Guy he's lucky he's got THE i, mean
because the fact of the matter is the dude is an absolute, stud.

Speaker 2 (49:10):
An absolute. STUCK i Love, jalen you know he, does
AND i love his. Selflessness he'll do. Anything all he
cares about is, winning and he'll do anything we need
to do to. Win if that's throw at fifty, times he's.
In if that's if That's saquon run it fifty, times that's.
In if that's, him run it fifty times he's in

(49:32):
Like and that's the job.

Speaker 5 (49:34):
Of a, quarterback.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
Right the job of the quarterback is to raise the
level of everybody on the field and to play winning,
football to take care of the, football and to win football.
Games that's the main. Thing the main thing is to
win football. Games that you, KNOW i, WISH i wish
that Was, like you're a major league baseball, pitcher you
get a, win, right it's a team. Game but that

(49:57):
guy gets a. Win, well that's that's a quarterback stat.
Too you get the. Win it's your, win, Right and, so,
MAN i wish that with a stat maybe we can put,
that put that in. There and so And jalen does
nothing but Win AND i love that his. Selflessness, AGAIN
i can't say enough because you, know again he just
will do anything he needs to do.

Speaker 5 (50:19):
To win the.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Game and, man he is he is a really good football.
Player and he just keeps getting better and that's his
that's his. ATTITUDE i love his attitude with, that how
DO i get? Better how DO i get? Better and,
yeah it becomes you, know when you answer that question a,
lot it becomes you get.

Speaker 5 (50:38):
Frustrated there's times.

Speaker 2 (50:39):
Where, uh you, know like stop asking me, that, right
and and SO i love how you've asked about you,
know he is a. Stud he's a, stud and he
just and he just, wins and he just keeps getting
better and and somehow we have to get the stat
of wins just like a starting, pitcher uh is in?

Speaker 7 (51:00):
Baseball your first month of the, season that's a tough.
Stretch would you rather have that front loaded or?

Speaker 3 (51:05):
Backloaded this this year.

Speaker 5 (51:08):
We played The Cowboys week one and THEN i don't
know after.

Speaker 8 (51:11):
That, okay.

Speaker 5 (51:14):
Where to? God who do we?

Speaker 3 (51:15):
Play?

Speaker 4 (51:15):
Second you Played cowboys At, Chiefs rams At. Bucks pretty,
good pretty good schedule to start the. Season they really wanted, To.

Speaker 2 (51:24):
LIKE i, swear we played the first game against The
cowboys On thursday night and we'll figure out the rest after.
That that doesn't mean you don't do some work on
some teams in the summer and this and.

Speaker 5 (51:35):
THAT i get.

Speaker 2 (51:35):
That but you can't win the first one until you
can't win the second. One and you can't play the
second one until you play the first. One so all
our you, KNOW i did so much reflection on the,
AIR i did so Much, hey what does sustained success look?
Like and and you, know coming off of a, win

(51:57):
talking to national championship and Super bowl winning coaches and
different things like in Super bowl winning, players all those different.

Speaker 5 (52:04):
Things AND i think think.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
That there's two mistakes that teams, make you, know and
one is looking too far, Ahead, right how are we
going to? Repeat, well if you don't go through your
steps that you go through every single day in training
camp in the, season then none of that, matters, Right
and so it's all about the daily work and then

(52:26):
other and then other teams that have failed in that,
aspect you, know they might rest on their worlds where
we are completely what we're doing and that's all we're focused.
On and If i'm trying to tell those guys that
at all times And i'm living, differently Then i'm. Full

(52:47):
SO i, like really we, are we are focused one
day at a. Time that's not coach. Talk it's, boring
it's not, cool it's not cool for the.

Speaker 5 (52:55):
PODCAST i get.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
It but it's truly how we live and it's how
we want to, live and it is truly about trying
to get a little better each. DAY i know, This
like know we did a good job of taking the
football away last, year But if we do the same
job of taking the football away or protecting the football
this year the way we did last, year that's not
gonna be good, enough right because everybody that plays this

(53:18):
is going to be, thinking how DO i.

Speaker 5 (53:19):
Protect the ball? Better how DO i take the ball
the way better against this?

Speaker 2 (53:22):
Team and so we got to get better at that and,
that and that's really where you, know it's really where we.

Speaker 5 (53:27):
Are that that's the. Philosophy that's the.

Speaker 4 (53:30):
Philosophy who's your favorite quarterback you've ever been?

Speaker 3 (53:32):
Around and got out the privilege to coach?

Speaker 5 (53:37):
Hurt that hurt my?

Speaker 3 (53:40):
Soul are you kidding?

Speaker 4 (53:41):
Me right?

Speaker 5 (53:42):
Now it was a fun quarterback.

Speaker 2 (53:44):
ROOM i think when we WHEN i first got, there
it was, like uh it was it WAS i was
in the quarterback.

Speaker 5 (53:51):
Room with, You, Chan, Uh Brody.

Speaker 2 (53:55):
Croyle we Had, Ingle we Had Ingle martin And tyler
And Tyler. Thigpen you had A Southern california, guy A
Buffalo New york, guy in three guys from the From.

Speaker 4 (54:07):
SOUTH i had like the twang and everything else and
then everything And chan then left a week before. Season
so then you became our quarterback. Coach, TECHNICALLY i mean
you were our quarterback coach all, year but you really
weren't there originally to be our quarterback. Coach that was
the craziest thing about. It and then What Joe joel

(54:28):
Col air came in and you guys kind of, yeah
QUAUSE i just sat in the room with us for a.

Speaker 3 (54:32):
WHILE i was, like what is going on right?

Speaker 5 (54:34):
Now we had some good, times you.

Speaker 2 (54:37):
KNOW i talked about the journey of different, seasons especially
when you have. Success one of my favorite seasons of
that twenty ten, season that was. AWESOME i, mean that
was an awesome way we, were the way we would
pull out wins winning that.

Speaker 5 (54:50):
Division you played, unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
Like you had some big, time big time, games big
time big time. Throws i'm thinking about the throw on
the couple throws that come to my. Mind you had
one to bow Against minnesota on an in cut that.
Boat it was a. Strike you were like To tampa
coming off the, mound what and and you ripped that

(55:14):
thing in there and then he and he took off
and he broke a tackle and took. Off and THEN
i think about the throw you. MADE i think you
got smoked on. It IF i remember. Right it was
it was Against it was The tony moaki on On.

Speaker 5 (55:29):
Tomas on the wildcat. Pass.

Speaker 4 (55:32):
Wow oh, yes when they threw it back to me
AND i threw it down the field That dwayne.

Speaker 5 (55:37):
Too, Yeah oh that was.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
SICK i, MEAN i was just thinking about those two
WHEN i, was you, know when we were talking about
getting ready for for this. Podcast those are the two
that that really came in. Mind but we had so
many that was that was a fun.

Speaker 4 (55:51):
Year, yeah we had so many of those moments. Together tell,
me tell me, more make me feel.

Speaker 7 (55:57):
Good let me ask this. Coach this is a final
question for, you because we know you're.

Speaker 8 (56:00):
Busy.

Speaker 7 (56:00):
Guy, Uh i'm looking at your resume of and you
obviously started back where you played and you slowly made
your way up like a lot of coaches. Do but
when did it become a reality that you could actually
be a head? Coach and, also what did you not
expect about being a head coach that's happening?

Speaker 5 (56:14):
Now, yeah a good, question that's.

Speaker 3 (56:18):
TOO i KNOW i haven't got.

Speaker 4 (56:19):
One, yes, yeah he hasn't said one good question to,
me every one of yours that came.

Speaker 3 (56:23):
Out great question pondering pondering, Here.

Speaker 5 (56:27):
WELL i don't, KNOW i don't Know, bobby, LIKE i
know You i'm. Trying i'm trying to get on his
good side right. Here Uh, SO i don't.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
Know you, know my my dad was a head football
coach and then for twelve years or so at our high,
school and then he was the head track coach.

Speaker 5 (56:44):
For like forty six.

Speaker 2 (56:45):
Years then my one brother has been a head college
coach for the last twenty five. Years my other brother
was a head high school coach at our high, school
the same place where my dad coach also there as,
Well and so it's almost LIKE i always THOUGHT i
would be a head coach and wanted to be a head,
coach but then you get into you, know when you

(57:08):
become a position, coach all your focus.

Speaker 5 (57:09):
Is on how do you how do you help the
guys achieve the? Goals LIKE i look at the COACHES i.

Speaker 2 (57:14):
Had you, Know Jason kandall was was my one of
my position coaches in, college who's the head coach now At,
Toledo and you, know his job was always to get me, better,
Right And i've had some great position, coaches and so
he's always, like how DO i help the guys That
i'm a position coach for achieve all the goals THAT

(57:37):
i would want as a, player, Right and so you get.

Speaker 5 (57:40):
Into that AND i, think, really when you're.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
A quarterback, coach like you, know whether it was In
Kansas city or WHEN i was a quarterback coach with The, chargers,
gosh Like Matt, castle like In Philip, rivers those guys
the main you have to go through so many things
just to give them one little, Nugget like you're studying

(58:03):
your butt off just to, See, man CAN i CAN
i help this? Guy how CAN i help this guy
who's seen so much, football who's played so much, football has.

Speaker 5 (58:12):
Been around all these good football.

Speaker 2 (58:13):
Minds that's what you're thinking, about and so almost a
little bit of it you, don't that's all you're thinking.

Speaker 5 (58:18):
About and then it's somewhere in along the.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
Line In San, DIEGO i got Around Gus, bradley WHO
i think the world Of Gus, bradley and he talked
to me about when he was our defensive coordinator. There
But i'd have conversations with him just about developing the
team and developing, men right and and and that's WHERE
i really started to like really find it fascinating and

(58:44):
of how you develop a.

Speaker 5 (58:45):
Team Then i'd start reaching out to different, coaches this and.
That SO i think.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
Somewhere around you, know MAYBE i always THOUGHT i wanted
to be a head, coach but you get so that
court manse and is it?

Speaker 5 (58:55):
High is the word high? Maintenance is that what the
word we're looking for For? Castle we're talking about?

Speaker 8 (59:00):
That, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah of COURSE i.

Speaker 3 (59:03):
Got to get out of here pretty. SOON i got
a many Petty.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
SO i think somewhere along the lines In San diego is,
like you, know And Gus bradley really helped me with.
That frank, right really helped me with, that, like, hey
being a head, coach you, know, YEAH i think that's
where it kind of.

Speaker 5 (59:20):
Started some some thoughts started to take place with.

Speaker 7 (59:24):
That what's been the craziest part, though you didn't expect
as a head. Coach it could even be that the
phone calls you have to, make or the fans.

Speaker 5 (59:32):
Or the.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
Media, yeah the Podcast, No i'm just, Kidding, no the
it's you have you just LIKE i would.

Speaker 5 (59:42):
Say your whole.

Speaker 2 (59:45):
Life you're training to become a better, coach better quarterback,
coach or a better coordinator or the philosophies of a
head coach or whatever whatever it may. Be and then
all of a sudden and you and as a coordinator In, indianapolis,
right you do media once a week in the, season
but then, boom you're doing media every Single there's something

(01:00:06):
like that's not something you've trained. FOR i think that
that's the Biggest that was probably the biggest thing of, like.

Speaker 5 (01:00:13):
You, know having those obligations every single, day this and.

Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
That, NOW i like you guys probably know my my
first press CONFERENCE U philly didn't go so.

Speaker 5 (01:00:22):
GOOD i didn't like it all that. Much so but,
again that's not what you're you're focusing.

Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
On SO i think that's probably the one thing that
now in year, four year, five when you do it
seven days a, week you're hopefully you're getting better at,
it uh hopefully as you.

Speaker 5 (01:00:41):
Go SO i think that's probably the.

Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
One, area the commitment and the time commitment to the
media and trying to help those guys do their job
because they have a job to.

Speaker 8 (01:00:51):
Do all, right you want to close.

Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
