27 июня в Екатеринбурге прошли массовые задержания выходцев из Азербайджана: около 50 человек доставили в Следственный комитет, чтобы проверить их на причастность к убийствам и покушениям, совершенным в 2001–2011 годах.
Во время массовых задержаний в Екатеринбурге двое подозреваемых скончались, других доставили в суд с видимыми следами побоев.
В ответ на задержания в Екатеринбурге 1 июля в Баку сообщили о задержании «членов ОПГ» из России. В видео с задержанными у некоторых из них видны синяки и кровоподтеки. По данным «Важных историй», как минимум трое из задержанных — программисты из России. Помимо этого, власти Азербайджана провели обыски в агентстве «Sputnik Азербайджан» и арестовали двух его сотрудников.
