את יזהר שי אתם אולי זוכרים כשר המדע והטכנולוגיה. או מכירים אותו כמשקיע הון-סיכון. אבל בשבעה באוקטובר יזהר שי הפך גם לאב שכול. אב לגיבור גדול.
לפופקורן הגיע יזהר בתור אבא של סמ"ר ירון אורי שי, לוחם בסיירת הנח"ל, שנפל כשהגן על כרם־שלום מול מאות מחבלי חמאס. זמן קצר אחרי האבל יזהר ומשפחתו של ירון הרימו ראש, והקימו את מיזם Next October - שמנסה לתת משמעות וערך לזכרם של הנופלים והנרצחים במלחמה, דרך ״נטיעת״ סטארטאפ חדש לזכר כל אחד ואחת מהם.
יזהר חלם כל חייו הצעירים להיות מהנדס, אבל שנה וחצי עבודה במקצוע הבהירו לו שהקריירה שלו תהיה שונה לחלוטין. המסע הזה לקח אותו דרך עולמות רבים – יזמות הייטק, השקעות הון סיכון, מדיניות ציבורית, ותפקידים ציבוריים בכירים.
