In Episode 79, Cal State Fullerton All American Mike Parisi joins Dave Lamm via the phone to discuss and recap the weekend series vs. TCU and also the UCLA game.

Despite losing two out of three in Fort Worth and dropping the mid-week game at UCLA, the non-conference losses have not affected Cal State Fullerton's standing in the Big West Conference.

The Titans enter the weekend series vs. UC San Diego with a magic number of 7, meaning a mixed combination of seven Fullerton wins and UC Santa Barbara loses would clinch the Big West title for the Titans.

Cal State's four tennis Donne. They'vegone from fifteen and sixteen the champions of
College Facebook. Welcome to the fifteenhundred forty four Miles to Omaha podcast,
talking about the past, present, and future of cal State Bulletin Baseball.

(00:26):
Three two pitch on Davis is abasketball hits, A left in deep blazer,
doesn't even go back on it.It's that bar out and gone.
Looked like it went over the storeboard. A whole run by J. D.
Davis. Hold two swinging out ofthis straight thread. Cal State Bulletins

(00:48):
on to the College World a series. Here's your host, Dave Lamb.
Welcome in the episode seventy nine ofthe fifteen forty four Miles to Omaha podcast.
And joining me this week as hedoes each week, is the All
American Mike Perezy. We're talking tonightabout the recap of TCU, and then

(01:12):
we'll also preview a little UC SanDiego and we'll also preview an upcoming podcast
of ours. But we won't letout the cat on the bag just yet
in regards to that. So,Mike, how's it going to night?
It is going well, It isgoing well. It's been a crazy busy
week, but it's been good. It's been good. So how are the

(01:34):
boys at South Hills doing. Let'slet's do a little high school baseball before
we do a little Titan baseball.Well, there's only two teams left in
the seven divisions from the San YemoValley. You have Division six San Marino
is playing Campbell Hall and you haveSouth Hills hosting West Ranch tomorrow. So

(01:55):
the twenty years I've coached varsity baseballis the first time I've been in the
quarters and about to get to thesemis. Well, more importantly, how's
our shortstop commit to the cal StateFulton Titans doing for South Hills. I
was so proud of his leadership inround two of get keeping his team focused
in the type ball game early, and he had another good game. He's

(02:16):
had two great playoff games. AndI've always said that the better players need
to step up in big games, and he's doing well. Marco rose Allis
has been great all right, Sohopefully makes that transition once he gets Once
he gets on campus, so he'sgonna battle for middle infield playing time.
You know, I know Maddi's LATAsmight come back as a senior, but

(02:36):
he would be a great guy totake over when he leaves. Well maybe
maybe potentially shortstop. Obviously not gettingtoo far ahead of ourselves, but they're
gonna give him every opportunity at shortand if they have to move him a
second, the mot a second. But this kid can pick it and he
can play, and he's a wouldbe a perfect Titan outstanding all right,
So let's let's jump into the TCTCU series. So the Titans, for

(03:00):
the first time this season, hadto travel outside of the Pacific time zone.
I know, in Arizona, theywere still on the same the same
time zone, so they didn't haveto worry about bust lag or jet lag
because you know, they're on thesame time zone. But this was the
first time they had to jump ona plane and fly a little bit of

(03:22):
a distance and then deal with anykind of jet lag. Not not placing
any kind of blame on the weekendperformance on jet lag because they came out
and they won on Friday, sothat would probably be the day that you
would experience jet lag, but right, a little bit disappointing that they weren't
able to perform as well on Saturdayand Sunday. But we're able to kind
of steal a win if you watchthe games, so two to one victory

(03:45):
and steal a win on Friday nights. So what are your general overview thoughts
on the TCU series. I mean, I'm glad they got one game out
there. I'm sure it was agreat experience for them to go fly,
you know, to you'll play ata big time stadium, big time program,
and uh, you know, theylost two out of three, But

(04:08):
that's fine. They got their experiencebecause they might have to do that in
a regional they've already done it andthey'll learn her their mistakes. But I'm
fine with it. I'm fine withit. I'm glad they got any chance
to go out there well. AndI think I think that one of the
we all know that Titans are areare shooting for winning the Big West Conference
because that obviously solves a lot ofproblems and the fact that when the Big

(04:31):
West Conference, you don't have toworry about RPI, you don't have to
worry about, you know, willthe committee select us, or any of
that kind of stuff. You justyou win the conference, You're you get
an automatic bid. You're just waitingaround on that Memorial Day to find out
where they're going to put you.Clearly the Titans aren't in a position to
to host a regional. You know, maybe the administration is going to put
in a bid for the off chance, much like in twenty and eighteen,

(04:55):
have a bid in the NC doubleA's hands, so that if you do
get the off chance of hosting aregional and the other team that's in the
superregional with you don't hasn't submitted ita bid, much like the University of
Washington didn't do in twenty and eighteen, then you know, I'm sure that
the administration is probably has that experienceand are doing that. But the realistic

(05:16):
chances of the Titans hosting a firstround regional is pretty slim. But they're
still focused on that Big West championship. The RPI didn't drop to the point
where Titans are sitting at forty twogoing into the TCU series, and even
though they were one in three overthe course of the three games against TCU

(05:42):
and then the one midweek against UCLA, they essentially stayed the same. Yes,
they jumped a little bit after thatFriday night win at TCU. I
think they jumped up to like thirtyeight or thirty nine or something like that.
But then they came back down toforty two, which is where they
were right around this time last week. So what does what does that say
to a team that is on theirfirst the longest losing streak that this this

(06:06):
Titan team has had at three games. What does that say about a team
that that is sitting pretty stag youknow, status quo where they were last
week on the RPI. I thinkpeople are looking at him like a series
contender. I mean, they theydeserve to be in a regional, they
deserve to compete, and they've beenplaying great and one bad weekend against a

(06:30):
good program on the road isn't goingto deteriorate that at all. So you
know, now, let's see whatwe could do against UC San Diego.
And you know we we we didn't. We didn't play well. We haven't
played well these last three games offensively. So we gotta check ourselves a little
bit and get back on track. And in the Thursday thoughts that I'm going
to publish later on this evening, you know, pointed out that pretty much

(06:51):
over the last four games, includingwell actually dating back to the Sunday game,
at Northridge, is that the Titansreally haven't the offensive bats have kind
of gone silent, to the pointwhere Kayden Connor was pretty much the only
one that was hitting out there onFort Worth and actually continued to hit at
UCLA. But everybody else, Imean, it was it was pretty bad.

(07:15):
It was really really bad, tothe point where it looked like it
looked like it Yeah, I meanI put up on Twitter. I didn't
even I didn't even put it upfor a vote for the Batter of the
Week because I knew that it wasgoing to be a complete and total runaway
for for for Caden Connor. Imean, he went eight for sixteen,
obviously, a five hundred batting average, two runs, two RBIs, a

(07:36):
walk, three k's in three gamesat TCU and then the one at UCLA.
Everyone else, you remove Caden connorstats from from the team batting average.
Everybody else went fourteen for one hundredand ten and was batting one thirty
with thirty two strikeouts. That isrough thirty two strikeouts. How many walks

(07:56):
do we get? I'd I'd haveto take a look. I bet it
wasn't. I bet you it wasn'tvery many. I mean, looking at
the US yell A game alone,I think really got three hits when they
staffed it compared to what we diddo last time, sort of you know,
tables were turned a little bit.Yeah, And speaking about that UCLA,
what was it John John Vaughns, who's who's normally a position player.

(08:18):
He came out and and and througha scoreless inning. I don't even think
a titan reached when John John's Vaughnswas was on the mount. So you
know, not not to try totry to rub salt in the wound here.
But it's like, man, ohman, you bring in a you
bring in a position player, youknow, allah MLB style. He was
a very good he was a verygood high school picture at Saint at Saint

(08:41):
John Bosco. Oh yeah he was. I mean fight but Division one's a
different story. But I'm but Iget you, I get you. I'm
sure he convinced Savage that hey, give me an inning in you know,
maybe I could light up the radarguns and help my draft stock. Who
knows well, when you were talkingabout the you know, the walks and
what the walks looked like. Speakingof that, Moises Guzman, he's actually

(09:07):
walked in sixteen straight games, Sotalk about some plate discipline and taking you
know, taking a picture in deepcounts. You know, entering the TCU
series, he had a twelve gamewalk streak. He got one walk in
each of the four games, sothree at TCU, won against UCLA,
and now he has a sixteen gameon base streak, all via walks,

(09:33):
which you know, so that's probablyone of the reasons why he was hitting
top of the lineup all weekend andalso out there at UCLA. I'm curious
to see what lineup they use thisweekend verrse UC San Diego. But you
got three weekends to go, andwhat they're two games up on Santa Barbara
going into these three final weekends.Well, it's it's coincidental that you brought

(09:56):
that up, because I was aboutto bring up the fact that I was
calculating magic now ers here. Sothe good news is is if you're going
to have a cold streak like that, the Titans are on and hopefully they're
gonna be able to snap it comingon Friday against UC San Diego. The
good news is is that it cameagainst TCU and UCLA. So those four

(10:16):
games, you've got four non conferences. So yes, URPI comes into play,
and we've already talked about the factthat that's unchanged, but the conference
record, which is what we're alltalking about here, has remained unchanged.
So if you're going to go cold, that was the weekend to go cold
on, because you don't necessarily, you know, rack up three three losses

(10:37):
and three losses in a row whenyou're when you're playing in the conference series.
So the magic number, and Iwas doing some math, is seven.
So over the next the next threeweekends, so nine games, nine
games total conference wins. You thinkseven and two guarantees Well, I think

(10:58):
the big less carvert action it wouldbecause if seat you're stay of Santa Barbara
to go nine and Ozero and Filoriabeat him two out of three, Floriti
will win the Big West. Soessentially what would happen is is because seven
would win it out right, Sostraight up seven wins or a combination of
seven, whatever the combination is winsand losses. How does seven and two

(11:22):
in Santa Barbara go nine and ohthey would be tied for the Big West
Conference and they'd beat coach champs.Correct, but they would get the tiebreaker
because you see Santa Barbara. TheTitans beat you see Santa Barbara two out
of three, so the head tohead tiebreaker would go. Yeah, I'm
curious in ninety four because in ninetyfour there was a three way tie between

(11:45):
the vad Arena where Savage was thepitching coach, Long Beach State, and
cal State fulor Tino. We alltied for the Big West Conference and all
three went to a regional. Yeah, I'm curious to see what the tiebreaker
was to who got the conference, who got the conference title? If everybody
was tied, but there had tobe some sort of a tiebreaker to determine

(12:05):
who's the number one, number two, number three. So it wouldn't it
wouldn't have been us because we lostthe Arena two out of three, which
was brutal, and we lost theLong Beach two out of three that year.
I mean that we were dominating theBig West Conference until those final three
weeks. So hopefully that doesn't happento the Titans this year, even though
we did get Domaha and those twoteams didn't get Doma here. Yeah.

(12:26):
So I mean, the Titans controltheir own destiny and when it comes to
winning the Big West Conference. Imean, if they if they win the
next seven games, no matter whatyou see Santa Barbara does, They're they're
gonna win it outright. No,So the magic number is actually technically because
of the tiebreaker, it could technicallybe six because if the Titans win six

(12:48):
and depending on you know, ifif the if Santa Barbara wins out or
whatever it happens to be, thatthere would be that tiebreaker. But you
know, yeah, seven, sevenoutright would would definitely win it all.
We we get, we get yousee San Diego at home, we get
long me Stated at home, andwe go to the road to a struggling
cal Police slow. What does SantaBarbara have on those final three weeks weekends.

(13:11):
Well, I can tell you exactlywhat that's what that looks like.
So writing about this in the ThursdayThoughts for for tonight is cal State Fullerton
fans, and now I know allthe Fulton fans that will listening to this,
you know, choke back a littlebit of the of the of the
vomit or the bile that's kind ofcoming up. But we got to be

(13:31):
dirtback fans this weekend, and Iknow that hurts and I know we don't
want to do it, but yousee San Diego has a three game series
at Long Beach, how to Blair, and then they got Sanna Barbara.
Santa Barbara's at Blair this weekend.Oh I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Yes,
you see, Santa Barbara was atat Long Beach. They have a
midweek against cal Baptists that really doesn'tmatter, that doesn't factor into the into

(13:56):
the stand needs whatsoever. Then they'rethey're weekend when we play Long Beach,
cal Poly will be playing. Yousee Santa Barbara up in Santa Barbara.
And then Santa Barbara finishes on therock at Hawaii to finish off the season
in Honolula. That's not going tobe easy. Go to Yi, Santa

(14:16):
Barbara has a couple of losses inthem. I like, I like these
funnal three weeks. Don't be excitingwhen it comes to this weekend. I
know, I know some of theTitan fans will be scoreboard watching and taking
a look at what's going on outthere at Blair Field and seeing how the
gauchos and the and the dirt bagsare doing. So okay, so technically

(14:37):
highly unlikely, but technically the Titanscould clinch the Big West Conference this weekend
because if Long Beach sweets sweeps yousee, you see Santa Barbara, that's
not going to happen, right,But you know, let's talk in hypotheticals
pie in the sky, like, hey, we're playing a lottery ticket here.

(15:00):
If Fullerton can sweep you see SanDiego, and of Long Beach can
sweep U see Santa Barbara, thatcould pretty much just tie it up,
you know, just just wrap thewhole thing up right then and right.
However, with the likelihood of what'sgoing to happen against UC San Diego and
then obviously out there in Long Beachwith the Gauchos, Titans could technically clinch

(15:24):
against Long Beach next weekend depending onwhat happens this weekend between all four of
those teams, rendering the final weekendup at cal Poly useless or meaningless.
And the fact that when it comesin the standings, you know, obviously
you're gonna want to win those gamesbecause it's going to help our PI,
it's going to help with seed whenit comes to the postseason. But when

(15:46):
it comes to actually clinching the BigWest, that potentially could make the cal
Poly series up in San Luis Obispomeaningless when it comes to winning the Big
West. So my early prediction, and it's gonna be fuller. Ten needs
to win one game at cal PolySlow and they're celebrating for some reason.

(16:07):
That's gonna be my predict. AllI gotta do is take one out of
cal Polly Slow. But let's let'slet's win this series here and we'll talk
more about it when there's six gamesto go. Yeah, I would say,
looking at Santa Barbara's Santa Barbara's upcomingschedule, and what what the Titans
have? You know, if ifthe Titans keep on winning Big West series,

(16:29):
keep on winning two out of three, it probably won't matter what you
see Santa Barbara does, because they'reprobably gonna they're probably gonna drop at least
one against Long Beach or cal Polyor Hawaii. I don't think they're going
to continue to sweep all nine ofthose games. No. I think Long
Beats gets the one game. Ithink Hawaii gets the one game for sure.

(16:52):
I don't know about cal Poly Slowgoing to Santa Barbara, so I
see it like for sure at leasttwo losses. So let's just what I
think. No, I'm with you. I'm with you. So for the
Titan fans out there, you gottayou gotta, you gotta figure it out
and figure out how to mentally wrapyour head around being a Long Beach State
dirt bag fan this weekend. Butafter that, trust me, it's it's

(17:15):
going to be status quote, it'sgoing to be back to normal because the
dirt bags are coming into are goingto be coming in a goodwin. So
we'll see, we'll see how thatworks out. I'm going to be at
a couple of those games for sure. I can't wait. I gotta bunch
of alumni from four too, andI got some old buddies from Long Beats
that are excited to talk to Max. That's gonna be excited. Well before
we sign off, and I knowwe're not there yet, but we are

(17:37):
going to preview one of the podcastsTwitter spaces that we're going to be doing
next week having to deal with thatupcoming Long Beach series. So I don't
want to look the cat out ofthe bag just yet. Listen to the
end of the podcast, because we'regonna preview something that we think is going
to be pretty excitable and pretty prettyspecial. But looking into well before we
start previewing Uccanda, go any otherthoughts coming out of Fort Worth TCU series

(18:04):
and the UCLA series. No.I mean I talked to coach Feture for
a little bit, and you know, he's like, hey, you know,
yeah, I'll played us you know, Saturday and Sunday, and you
know, we took it in thechin and we're excited to get back the
conference and get home and learn fromthat. But our team's showing really good

(18:25):
about themselves and we just got tokeep stay focused, you know, where
where they are focused not on SantaBarbara, that's the last words that are
coming out of their mouths. Butfor us, as Sands and all that
we think ahead, they're focused onuc San Diego and going for a sweep,
and it's gonna start with Friday.Yeah, I mean, it's just
unfortunate that, you know, theTitans were on such a really really good

(18:45):
run to the point where all theway back to February against Texas they had
one at least a minimum of twoout of three on those weekend series.
Obviously, the three sweeps against Davis, against Riversideast Bakersfield, those really really
helped, but you know, winin two out of three and winning those
you know, two out of threegets you to Omaha type style style of

(19:07):
baseball. You know, it's it'sunfortunate that the streak ended, but hey,
you know they can always you know, win two out of three and
continue a streak and continue on tothe end of the season. But it
was a little bit unfortunate, andI know, you know, hopefully Titan
fans aren't hitting the panic button aboutoh my gosh, you know, we
lost a series or whatever it is. I mean, hey, if I
can speak from the heart, unfortunately, yes, we did lose that series.

(19:33):
But at the same time, considerwhere we've come where we as as
a program, the Titan program hascome since going to a super regional in
twenty and eighteen, you know, and a lot of fans would say,
hey, you know, if ifat the beginning of the season, we'd
say, hey, we're you know, we're entering into middle of May,
We're going into Mother's Day weekend witha magic number. Even talking about the

(19:59):
potential of winning in the Big West, I think all fans would would would
ask you for a drug test becausethey would be like, well, you
know, hey, you know, considering what's been happening in recent recent history.
So uh, you know, let'skeep things in perspective that this program
is still rebuilding and they're they're ona pretty good trajectory. Let's not let's
not let's not put too much pressureout there. I mean, and any

(20:19):
any good baseball player that's been coachedby good coaches a bit thought. You
have to have a short term memoryin baseball, whether you had a great
series or a bad series where youpitched well, you didn't pitch well,
whatever it is, it's a shortterm memory. You flush it right at
fullart TI. We used to havea little tiny toilet. You flush it,
it's over with, You move forward. All they're thinking about is this
weekend, you know. And I'dlike to know if when was the last

(20:42):
time Flich has ever won every weekendconference games, you know, and won
the series. That'd be pretty goodto know, because if they win these
next three, they've won everyone correct. Well, yeah, they'll they'll have
to go two out of three forthe next three weekends for them to have
won every single conference weekend. Yeah, we never did that during our three

(21:02):
years. I know that if maybethey did that, ninety five. I'm
sure they did in ninety five, but I like to know when the last
time that's happened, and I'm hopingthey do it. Yeah, that would
be a tremendous feather in the capfor not only the players, but this
coaching staff to be able to,you know, have turned things around to
the point where you win two outof three or even more, you know,

(21:23):
sprinkling a few of those sweeps inthere. But so yeah, looking
at UC San Diego, they're currentlyfifteen and nine in the Big West.
They were leading there for a whilethere, and you know, for the
uninitiated or for those that you know, don't don't follow college baseball as closely,
they were thinking that, oh,UC San Diego could potentially win the

(21:45):
Big West and they go to thepostseason. UC San Diego is still in
that transition period of going from Divisiontwo to Division one. I think this
is their final year, but Ithink this is the final year that they
are ineligible. So games again UCSan Diego count against your win loss record
and count against you in the standings. But when it comes to even if

(22:07):
U see San Diego did win theBig West, They're not going to be
able to go to the regionals. The next best the next best team would
be able to go. So,but you know, they're they're currently third
fifteen and nine in the in theBig West overall their twenty seven and eighteen,
so a very similar record to theTitans and last year played down there.

(22:29):
They're coming to They're coming to calState flortun They're coming to good Win
this weekend. But they've they've hadthemselves a pretty nice season in the fact
that you know, the previous weekendthey were hosting c SUN so they lost,
unfortunately two out of three, butthey did have a sweep at cal
Poly, So I don't know ifthat speaks more volumes to the fact that

(22:52):
cal Poly might be down or thatyou see San Diego is that good?
So talking about some comment upon itshere UC Santa Barbara, they actually got
swept by UC Santa Barbara team thatcal State Fullerton won two out of three
against them. But they got offto a pretty good start to the point
where before they started conference play theystarted a pretty good wind streak. So

(23:17):
they their final non conference which wasback in March tenth, was they played
three against Northern Colorado, won allthree of those. Then they played UC
riverside in a midweek. I wantto say that that was probably one of
those non conference type of deals. And then the ofference conference play by sweeping
Long Beach State, they swept CalState Bakersfield. They had a midweek against

(23:41):
San Diego State crosstown rival, wonthat midweek and then they also opened up
the series again against at UC Irvineand won that one. So, I
mean, you see San Diego wason a heater like one, two,
three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
eleven, twelve. They had atwelve game win streak from March tenth

(24:02):
to the end of March. SoMarch thirty first is when that that you
see Irvine games. So once Aprilstarted, they started, you know,
they're kind of up and down.So we'll we'll see, I mean,
we'll see what what they look likehere, what other Friday, Saturday Sunday
pitchers look like record wise and stuff. Well, I'll take a look at
some of the individual pitching stats anddo a quick search for uh, you

(24:26):
see San Diego when it comes tothe leaders and let's see here, let's
I'll do a quick search here UCSDum So with pitching, they're really not
they're really not showing up in anyof the pitching stats for for any of

(24:47):
the leaders we're talking for, youknow, earned run average, opposing batting
average, and it's pitched batter struckout. I mean, any of those
U see. San Diego is justis just not showing up. So I
guess their pitching might not be thebest. Let me take a look as
a team, what they're what they'redoing as them, you know, as

(25:07):
as pitchers, and I don't Idon't think they're doing all that great.
So when it comes to their theire ARRA pitching wise, they rank kind
of middle of the pack fifth. They're at a four point six six,
just above the five point zero oneCal State Flourtin. So you know,

(25:29):
the pitching was for cal State Flourtinehave been well documented. So they're just
yeah, about a half a littlebit less than a half half of a
run earn earned run average above CalState Flourtin. When it comes to their
fielding, their middle of the packtwo. They're ranked six when it comes
to fielding percentage and then batting, they're also middle of the pack. Their

(25:49):
fifth batting two seventy six, they'rejust above Cal State flour Tins two seventy
three, So they're they're they're middleof the pack when it comes to statistical
so you know, something that youwould imagine being the third place team and
cal State folkuns is number one. They're they're pretty comparable. So this looks
like it's going to be, youknow, a pretty evenly matched game,

(26:11):
even though it's going to be upat at cal State folcuns Field. Right,
and we got we got Stults goon Friday. He had a great
outing at TCU, but he's beena little and consistent, So we don't
know what Stults we're gonna get,but we hope that when he's at home
is a little more comfortable. Yeah. Yeah, it's funny that you brought
that up about about Tyler and thefact that it's it's kind of crazy in
the fact that it seems like hehas a good one and then he has

(26:33):
a bad one, and then agood one and a bad one. So
I'm kind of fearful that this Friday. Now that he had a really really
good one on Friday out at TCU, and for worth that, now here
comes the bad one. And I'mnot saying that it's it's one for one
one for one, one for one, But you know the pattern kind of

(26:55):
is scheduling is kind of working outthat way. Yeah. Yeah, and
he wasn't very good out of thebullpen, and Jason Blood struggled against UCLA.
So some of these arms, youknow whose teacher are gonna go to?
I mean Joejoe has been solid allyear round, so you know he's
getting the ball twice this weekend.Yeah, it's crazy. It's like I'm

(27:18):
looking at the game log for forStults and obviously for TCU. He had
a good outing. He went sixinnings and only gave up one earned but
last the previous week against Kelstate Northridgesix innings but he gave up seven.
And then Friday against Bakersfield he wentseven innings, gave up five, still

(27:41):
got the win though UC Riverside hewent to full nine and only I believe
gave up two. And then SantaBarbara. Santa Barbara was a disaster because
I believe that was the one whereeither tipping pitches or they were stealing pitches
or something like that. So thatwas a disaster. But then the Friday
against Hawaii, he went five, gave up five runs. UC Davis he

(28:07):
went eight gave up two runs.So it's one of those things where oh
wait, no, yeah, yeah, it was two runs. So it's
kind of like one of these upsand downs. I mean, UC Irvine
seven seven innings, gave up noruns, So it's it's kind of like,
well, kind of like a doctorcheck on mister Hide type of thing
with mister Stults. So hopefully weget hopefully we get the good Stilts on

(28:30):
Friday against San Diego. Yeah,I believe it. I think he's gonna
a quality start. He's ready,he knows how big this game is.
He three huge Big West Conference starsleft. He needs to step up.
Titans are done with the midweek games. This past weekend or this past was
it Tuesday? Wednesday? Tuesday againstUCLA was the final midweek non conference games,

(28:52):
so now it's just weekends weekend conferenceseries from here on out. Obviously
we're we've already previewed a little bitabout UC San Diego, but then the
following week. Don't want to gettoo far ahead of ourselves is long Beach.
But you and I for the pastcouple of weeks have been talking about
the potential of a podcast Twitter space, having a large conversation about something previewing

(29:15):
that Long Beach State series. Sodo you want to do? You want
to do? You want to letthe cat out of the bag and let
people know what they need to getget looking forward to. I think the
topic was and for you people listeningis research the nineteen ninety three Friday Night
game. We had a big brawlbetween Fullerton and Long Beach State, and

(29:37):
so I have some friends who areon that team and I have reached out
to them, and you know,we were number two in the nation.
They weren't even rained, and Iwas seven and ol going in that game
and it was a big brawl inthe second Indy and it was great.
And we're gonna have some guys talkingabout that and it'll be exciting. Yeah.
So for for those that either ourNew Titan fans and haven't weren't born

(30:03):
yet, or or we're just becauseobviously you and I were going to college
at the same time, I wasthere and watching the whole thing. And
I'm not gonna give too much away. We're going to have to encourage people
to listen to it. But I'mreally excited to hear the three different sides
and the three different perspectives of howthat went down. I'm very interested to

(30:26):
hear from the Fullerton guys. I'mvery interested to hear from the Long Beach
players that were on the field andinvolved in it, and then I can
provide a little bit of perspective ofa fan that was in the stands.
Now, my memory might be alittle bit foggy, because, let's face
it, this was my fourth yearin college and tailgating and beer sales being

(30:51):
what they were for a college seniormight be a little bit you know.
I mean, it's pretty ironic. This is going to the thirty year reunion
when it comes to it, whichis for thirty years. So what does
our memory like. I'm sure we'reall going to have different stories, but
they're all going to be good stories. Yeah, I mean, and I
don't want to I don't want toshare too much and say what I remember

(31:14):
from that? But can you canyou kind of give a little bit of
sneak peak of some of the Titansthat you've already kind of rallied to see
if they can come on, andthen some of the dirt bags that you
can come on. Brett Himpill wasthe catcher. I was the picture of
Brett Himpill. I think he's gonnabe on there. I'm almost positive their
catcher was Brian Watley. I thinkhe coaches pro ball somewhere, the guy

(31:37):
who got all the cheap hit ballskin. He's gonna be on there.
And I'm working on again some otherguys on there that love to be talking
about it. Yeah, and I'mI'm gonna work on trying to find a
few more. And the only waythat we're able to do this is through

(31:57):
Twitter spaces because it's going to bekind of like a big conference call or
zoom meeting or whatever you want tocall it, right and maybe bad to
get George Horne's perspective on it,because he was one call and pitches that
game. You know what, I'llreach out to George and see if he
can jump on at that time.So we're going to schedule it for next
Tuesday. I know Andy Wise fromhe's now the head coach or Corona High

(32:23):
School. Yeah, I know hehas a big playoff game. I want
to say Tues to all they played. They played Friday, they're still in
the playoffs in D one, butany wise for sure be a good one
too. Yeah, I know hewas a dirt bag on that team,
and you know, so we're goingto try to rally the troops and see
how many people we can get onthe Twitter spaces. So if you're not
on if you're listening to this andyou're not on Twitter, we encourage just

(32:45):
go register for an account and youknow, go get on Twitter that way.
The reason why we're encouraging that isbecause we'll record it. We'll make
sure that we turn it around andput it on the podcast for all those
that are listening now. But atthe same time, who knows what's going
to be said and who knows what'sgoing to be available for broadcast, And

(33:06):
I know, podcasts being what theyare, you know, you don't necessarily
have to follow FCC guidelines and youdon't have to necessarily have to hell hit
that dump button eight second delay orwhatever it is. But if you want
to hear it go down live,we would definitely suggest tuning in on Twitter
spaces. So we're gonna we're gonnasee how many different guys and perspectives we
can get in on that one.You know, obviously was was Dave Snow.

(33:29):
Was Dave Snow, the head coachof the dirt bag coach, I
mean snow, I mean fuller tothe long Beach. I don't know how
it's changed now, but there werea similar programs. Everyone recruited the same
players. Everybody needed key JC playersand then you hope for a few diamond
in the roughs that helped your programout, and it was just it was

(33:49):
just a lot of fun. Yeah, this is Anybody that I kind of
talked to about this has said,oh my gosh, that is a must
listen type thing. So we're gonnawe're gonna do it to it. We're
scheduling it for next Tuesday. Sowe're gonna schedule it's Tuesday in the evening
sometimes, So get on Twitter. So we're talking May sixteenth, Tuesday in

(34:10):
the afternoon evening. Well, we'llfigure out what's going to work best for
everybody's schedule and they'll be able todo it. But um, yeah,
go to Twitter, get an accountif you don't already have one, and
then mark your calendar for the sixteenth, because this this is gonna be fun.
This is gonna be a lot offun. I agree, I agree.
I'm excited for that one, andI'm excited for this weekend. So
We're good. Let's get this weekendgoing, and gosh, tomorrow's the game

(34:35):
already. We got a big quarterfinalgame of rest restaur Ranch and Fuller ten
East San Diego. Thanks for listeningto the fifteen hunty four Miles to Omaha
