Speaker 1 (00:03):
This is a catch up on three things by the
Indian Express and I am Flora's Wine. Today's the twenty
fifth of September and here are the headlines in the
top story today. The CBI has launched a preliminary inquiry
into alleged FCR violations by climate activist Sonam wang Chu

(00:24):
and his institute known as the Himalain Institute of Alternatives Ladakh,
which he founded. Officials confirmed the probe began two months
ago following a Home Ministry complaint. Wang Chuk confirmed a
CBI team visited him ten days ago with an order.
This comes after four deaths in lay protests demanding Ladak's
statehood and six scheduled recognition, which the MHA blamed on

(00:48):
wang Chuk's provocative statements, alleging he incited unrest amid ongoing
government group talks. In other national news of the day,
the Supreme Court struck down a two thousand and seven
Rajasthan government notification that exempted locally made asbestos cement sheets
and bricks with twenty five percent fly ash from the VAT,

(01:11):
ruling it discriminatory. Out of state manufacturers challenged the exemption,
arguing they used similar fly ash content but were taxed,
putting them at a price disadvantage. A bench led by
Justices B. V. Nagaratna and KIV Vishwanathan held that such
differential taxation violated Article three h four A of the Constitution,

(01:33):
which prohibits states from discriminating against important goods in favor
of local products. And In some news from the defense sector,
India successfully test fired the two thousand kilometer range Agni
Prime missile from a rail based mobile launcher, showcasing rapid

(01:53):
mobility and cross country deployment and capability. Defense Minister Rajnath
Singh said the achievement places India among select nations with
such capability. The test, conducted by the DRDO and the
Strategic Forces Command was under full operational conditions. Officials said
the specially designed launcher can travel freely across the rail

(02:14):
network without preconditions, enabling faster reaction times and reduced visibility
for deployment. The missile is India's next generation intermediate range
ballistic weapon. The Delhi High Court has asked Priya Kapur,
who's the widow of late Soda Comstar chairperson Sanja Kapour,

(02:35):
to disclose details of his assets amid an ongoing family dispute.
PREA requested today to submit details in a sealed cover
with a confidentiality clause. Just as Jothi Singh cautioned, such
an order could be problematic, limiting parties a right to
verify disclosures. The court sought precedents for sealed cover submissions
in such matters. Meanwhile, Pria's council said she would return

(02:57):
with suggestions agreeable to all involved parties. India has nominated
Homebound Co Executive produced by Martin Sercz, as its official
entry for the twenty twenty six Oscars, but the decision
highlights turmoil within the Indian film certification Hombound initially dropped

(03:17):
Sircese's name from posters amit cuts controversy. Meanwhile, Punjab ninety
five starring the Jib the Sanj remains stalled after the
board sought over one hundred cuts. In an exclusive investigation,
The Indian Express, in its interviews with filmmakers and CBFC members,
revealed growing discontent over what's described as a super censorship raj,

(03:39):
where arbitrary decisions undermine India's global cinema ambitions and strain
efforts to attract in a national backing. That's all for today.
This was a catch up on three things by the
Indian Express.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
