(00:10):
What's a good book? It's RJ Young.
I am not on a step. Mel, if this your first time
watching adapt and respond. Thank you for joining us here.
We talk college football year round.
We talk football year round. If you're into that, go ahead
and hit that subscribe button. Like this video and answer the
question in the comments below. Do you think Shudour Sanders did
enough to maybe be, I'm already hedging here QB one when week 1

(00:35):
comes around for the Cleveland Browns because he got his NFL
pre season debut tonight and played a significant part of the
game. I mean, we're talking about 3/4
of good solid football for Shudour Sanders, where I think
folks that have been watching Colorado play or Jackson State
play or should or Sanders play for the last three years at the

(00:57):
minimum four years probably. You're getting a sense of what
we all saw. You saw the good and you saw the
bad. You saw a dude that is great
when he is in rhythm, who's veryaccurate with the football.
He does not have the strongest arm in the world, but his arm is
stronger than Chad Pennington's,and Chad Pennington played for a
very long time in the NFL. You're also talking about a guy

(01:19):
who seemed to have control of the offense and was creating
kinships with the second string.I might add here.
None of the guys that he was playing with are starters.
Now. I looked at the starting lineup
and I saw Harold Fanning out there at tight end.
Who's the best tight end in the country last year outside of
Tyler Warren, and maybe it was abetter receiver than Tyler
Warren. I also saw Deonte Johnson, who's

(01:41):
no slouch. Wide receiver Trayvion Williams
had himself pretty great day. I thought Dylan Santo would be a
little bit better. But in as far as what should do
or Sanders was doing in and around the pocket on that
football field, it felt like a middling Colorado game.
Was it his best outing? No Was his worst outing?
No. Did he acquit himself?
Well, yes. And you can hear it at the end

(02:02):
as a sideline reporter who is unfamiliar with should or
Sanders get down is trying to pry positive compliments about
himself out of him. And you're just not going to get
that from that guy in that space.
Now he's going to feel himself on the on the sideline.
He did what I probably would nothave done, but I'm not sure
George Sanders walking in with his own music coming out of a

(02:25):
big speaker making it an event. And I get that right.
You need to hype yourself up. You are an absolute rookie.
You're 4th on the depth chart and you're getting ready to go
into battle in a very real way at the highest level and the
level that you hope to achieve. How you got here is not
important anymore. How you perform is what is most
important About tonight against the Carolina Panthers.

(02:49):
And I thought after a rocky start, I would have gone for it
on that 4th and short. They didn't.
They went for the second time and then Shidur did what he does
that drives people up a wall. And that's big part of the
conversation around him. We saw this man running with his
back to the defense far too often.
But again, that's just part of the Shudur Sanders experience.

(03:09):
And as I'm thinking about this, was actually texting with an NFL
scout about what we were seeing. And I'm asking some very pointy
questions, one of which is, can this guy last in the league?
Not can he start? Can he last in the league?
And the answer was an obvious, yeah, it's he can last in the
league and he could play for a long time in the league.
Could he be a dude with a clipboard waiting his turn?

(03:29):
Sure. Could he be the Week 1 starter?
It could be. But right now, it feels like he
didn't do enough tonight to unseat Joe Flacco or perhaps
even Kenny Pickett. But I did get this very clear
statement from a man. He's like, he's a, he's a better
quarterback than Dylan Gabriel and said, OK, that's enough.
Which makes that Dylan Gabriel Pickett in the third round look
even more squirrelly once you realize that your door was

(03:51):
drafted not just at 1:44 in the fifth round, which I think a lot
of people are going to focus on,but that they traded up to go
get him in the fifth round. They could have done what the
Miami Dolphins did with Quinn Yours, which is just wait till
the 7th round, then go get yourself a gym and perhaps have
yourself a Brock Pretty Special, which I think is what Quinn
Yours could turn out to be in Miami.

(04:11):
If we're really being honest about this, to a tongue of a
low, it takes another hit to thehead.
You can throw a Quinn Yours in there and feel good about what
you're doing. Save the injuries, right?
Shadur also does not get enough credit for the kind of grit that
he has. Grit being a word that I'm
becoming more familiar with as it relates to other sports like

(04:32):
cycling, for instance. But the reason I want to point
this out, what she do or is, yeah, he took a bunch of sacks
last year. And yeah, he took a bunch of
sacks the year before. And some of those are his fault.
He's running around far too long.
After 2 1/2 seconds is up to youget rid of the football.
And there were at least three times when I'm watching the
first phase of the play and I'm seeing who's going to win at the
line of scrimmage or what is there for you.

(04:53):
And I saw him just miss some open reads that perhaps he's
going to look back on film and go, damn, I had that window
there. I should have hit it the first
time. But that fourth and one, when
they went, you know, 5 wide in the first quarter, second
quarter, excuse me, everybody was covered up.
And at that point, you got to dothe Tom Brady and either launch
the ball to one of your receivers you think can go make
a play or just throw in the dirt.

(05:14):
But fourth thing, fourth thing, 4th down, you got to do all
right to do something. Or at least that's what he
thought he did. So we got the turnover on downs.
Did he throw any interceptions? No, but that turnover's on him.
14 to 23 for 138, two TDs and most importantly, a win.
I don't give a damn that it is preseason.
That's the part to harp on. That is the part that I would
take home if I'm should do. Or Sanders.

(05:35):
You heard home girl asking what are you going to say to your dad
who's tweeting as if we don't know the Deion Sanders tweets
and tweets about his kids. Hey, dad, I didn't know what I
thought, what I thought I was going to do or what I said I was
going to do. The standard is that high and
Prime talked a little bit about this in a press conference day.
We're going to talk a little bitabout what Colorado is in for
this year and what he said leading up to this as they had

(05:56):
their camp availability today with Colorado getting ready to
play against host Georgia Tech on August 23rd and that's going
to be a fun game. That's a, well, August 22nd,
it's a Friday night game. So it'll be a lot of fun either
way because you're talking abouttwo teams that actually won the
national championship in 1991. Could be fun, I think, as we're
talking about a dad who's not inthe same stadium as the player

(06:19):
that he had been in the same stadium for since high school.
It must have been awkward. It must have felt weird.
But I'm sure everybody held him down.
And given the, well, dire situation that Prime was in just
two months ago and where he's come from, I'm sure that he's
even more grateful than he has shown himself to be.
This is fascinating because I did an interview with Deion

(06:41):
Sanders. Probably need to put that up on
the channel, but it's just been some time.
So I just kind of let it lie. He did an interview with me in
April and you could tell it was businesslike.
He answered questions clearly and honestly and with this
trademark verve. But those of us that have been
close watches of him, we would say, OK, maybe he's just

(07:01):
getting, maybe he was still pissed off about Syracuse,
Colorado, right? That getting called off, that
felt like a very cool thing. Or maybe it was just how badly
people are talking about Shidur in response to how Travis
Hunters played. Or maybe it was the retired of
the jerseys turned out to be something way bigger than that,
right? That is the level of detail that
he's dealing with and how he guards his privacy.

(07:24):
We will have a different conversation, I'm sure, about
the retired jersey if she do or Santa's.
But when you take into account that he broke 100 quarterback
records at the school in just two years, that he was throwing
pass to a Heisman Trophy winner, and that a program went from one
win to four wins to nine wins israther remarkable.

(07:45):
Like I give it this way, Bill Belichick is considered one of,
if not the best NFL coach of alltime with six Super Bowls.
He is coaching the Carolina Panthers this year.
I will ask you, do you believe in two years at the Power 4
level that North Carolina will win 9 games, have a first round

(08:07):
draft pick and a Heisman winner? That's what I'm saying.
That prime is done. I dare Bill Belichick to do
better. That is the kind of record that
he is chasing as a new guy in college football.
A guy that has never been an assistant at the Power 4 level.

(08:27):
College football spent most of his life in the NFL.
The knock on should do, oh should do her on Dion when he
first got there. This dude know how to coach.
Turns out, yeah, he does know how to coach.
I think the way that he has helped develop Shudur standards
has also garnered a lot of attention.
And because it's garnered a lot of attention, there are those
that believe he's been in that spot unfairly.

(08:48):
But when you look at the results, they're when they won
the SWAT championship 2 years ina row, they made the Celebration
Bowl 2 years in a row, they flipped Colorado into a team you
got to talk about. And most importantly, they are
able to handle all of this pressure.
I don't know how people look at Shudur Sanders and see Cocky.
I don't see cocky. I don't see arrogant.

(09:08):
I see a guy who's having fun flashing his watch.
And I also see a man that is looking at his resume and saying
check the receipts everywhere wego.
I've won. Now, until I don't do that at
Cleveland, I'm going to expect to do that at Cleveland.
Hey, man, can you even get to QBone?
We'll see. Joe Flacco is, you know, 40.
We'll see how long that lasts. Kenny Pickett hasn't looked like

(09:31):
the guy that we thought he wouldbe when the Steelers drafted him
in the first round since he played at Pittsburgh.
And maybe you think that's who she'd or Sanders is going to be,
but he doesn't have that first round tag.
Dylan Gabriel was a winner and one of the most prolific NCAA
passers at the FBS level of all time, but he got a seventh round
grade after his last season. Oklahoma goes back to Oregon,

(09:54):
leads them to a Big 10 championship, a #1 ranking and
number one overall seed in the College Football Playoff.
They get bounced by the nationalchamps and all he can do is get
to the third round. That's telling to me as well.
I think it is open run really, for who's going to be the
quarterback for the Cleveland Browns by, say, Week 8.
And Shudur Sanders has every tool that you would need to

(10:17):
succeed at that level. Now he's also getting more reps
and he got more opportunities tonight because they don't want
to play Flacco for obvious reasons.
Kenny Pickett is hurt, Dylan Gabriel's hurt.
They brought in Tyler, Snoop Huntley earlier this week to
kind of fill the space to play this fourth quarter, frankly,
and to try to find out what theyhave in Shudur Sanders.
And I think when they watch film, they're going to see

(10:40):
things that they can clean up. But they're also the things that
he's been doing since he startedplaying the game of Jackson
State. And I believe he's been playing
since high school. He believes that he's Deshaun
Watson. I don't mean that literally
before you take it there. I mean, if you watch Deshaun
Watson his last year at Houston full time, you're talking about
one of the best passers in the game.

(11:00):
But most of what he's doing is not in rhythm, is not on time.
He is able to create outside of the pocket, take advantage what
it was. And then while when all else
failed, he was going to throw the ball deep to DeAndre
Hopkins, it was going to work. I think if Shadur Sanders gets a
little bit better about throwingthe ball away, instead of trying

(11:21):
to run around and find somebody that is open, make them a chore
call to just throw it into the stands or throw it into the
ground the way the guy he's following, Tom Brady would do,
you're going to see a much better player.
The last thing that I think I will point out about Shadur
Sanders and the experience in Carolina tonight was just how
many people showed up to watch apreseason game.

(11:43):
Because not just that, a preseason game between the
Browns and the Panthers on a Friday night.
Because Shidor Sanders is wearing Cleveland brown colors
and wearing the number 12. It reminds me a lot about the
kind of coronation of Baker Mayfield when he first got to
Cleveland and frankly, Johnny Manziel and go down the line.
But the number of folks that showed up in 12 jerseys just to

(12:06):
support a rookie who has not played a single snap still in
the National Football League wasplayed pre season, obviously.
But we're talking about regular game, regular season games where
we're counting the score counts and everybody's best is there.
That's astonishing to me. And I think you need to try to
bottle that. If you are the Browns, you need
to try to tap into that. When you have LeBron James
tweeting about a friggin pre season game, you're doing

(12:30):
something right. I think given his popularity,
you're going to see him get an opportunity to play significant
snaps, maybe start in 2025. But I do find it kind of curious
that we're having these conversations even right now as
the Browns aren't expected to win that many games.

(12:53):
One of the ways I'll put this adapt and respond is proud to
proud to partner with BET Onlinewho gives out Yeah, fast
payouts, record-breaking wagers are are met and they hit them.
You can go to bed online for allof your wagering needs.
That's where I get the numbers for they are and then make sure

(13:17):
I get this right because I know how y'all gamblers be minus
excuse me plus 125 to win 5 1/2 or more games so you can get 25
extra bucks. You throw down 100 bucks if you
expect them to win six of the 17games they play.
Not a lot of people expect the Browns to be good.
That might be one other reason Shidor Sanders gets to play with

(13:39):
Jerry, Judy with David and Joku and Joku with perhaps Dylan
Sampson. He finds some good foot.
I think they're going to be OK. I think he's going to be OK.
I think Kevin Stefanski is goingto be going to have to make hard
decisions and they might be the only team in the NFL that
carries 4 quarterbacks on his 53man roster.
And it'll be for good reason. They think that all of these

(14:01):
guys have tremendous upside. They think all of these guys can
play the position, but you really want somebody to take it
over. Maybe that's Joe Flacco to
start, maybe that's George Sanders down the line.
But because these guys are breakable, Kenny Prickett and
Dylan Gabriel, and because age usually catches up with a guy
like Joe Flacco, I expect Shudorwill get those opportunities to
play and it could end up not unlike it did tonight.

(14:25):
You start out behind and then hefinds his footing.
And just like Novocaine, give him time.
He always works. We'll be back after a very short
break here from Dead Online. How good is the start?
It's a good start. It's a great start.
It's the first win. And why do we play?
You play to win the game. And what do we want?

(14:45):
I want winners. I'm not bipartisan, I'm not
bipolar. I'm not by DID, I'm by winning.
I went here and I went there back on adapt and respond with
me. RJ Young, if you are new to the
channel, go ahead and hit that subscribe button like this video
and answer the question in the comments below.
Do you believe that Colorado canwin the Big 12 championship?

(15:09):
Prefacing this by saying Deion Sanders had his campus media day
event at Colorado, I think strategically planned for this
night for which they knew that Shadora was going to be the
starter. And he got to talk a little bit
about how the team got to see Lejante W to show out on
Thursday night. Talk a little bit about what he
expects his team to do. And if you are watching this
live, thank you so much for being here.

(15:31):
I'm going to talk a little bit to the chat a little bit later
on. We'll take a few questions there
because I do like that aspect ofit and I have been promising
live shows like this one and we will begin to start doing those
with some frequency. This beginning.
The first of many, you'll get toknow this show as the one that
comes on after a big game, aftera big event on Saturday night

(15:52):
for sure. We'll see about Sunday, Monday,
Thursday, Friday and then we'll we'll fill it out from there.
But I want to have this live atmosphere.
We're going to have a rotating producers on the show.
It's going to be a lot of fun. It's going to be like watching
Colorado Buffaloes football, I hope.
What I found curious about what Shudour Sanders was doing today

(16:13):
and what Deion Sanders is doing today.
And the thing that I've been harping on the Sanders about for
it feels like years. What happens if you get a run
game? What happens if you get a
credible rushing attack? OK, so today the first TD that
Shudour Standers ever throws, Kaden Davis by the way, is the
answer. That question is on a play

(16:35):
action bootleg, and he's just waiting for my man's to fade
into that window so we can launch it in there.
Makes the catch right before thereceiver reaches the out of
bounds. And that is because they had a
run game that you had to respect, full stop.
Last year, Colorado didn't have anything like a run game that

(16:56):
you had to respect. They were dead last in rushing
yards per game, something like 65 rush yards per game.
More importantly or more fascinating to me was when they
averaged 1 yard or more per carry in a game they won last
year. That was how paltry and bad the

(17:18):
Russian attack was. So what does Prime do?
He brings in a Hall of Famer in college and in the NFL in
Marshall Faulk to try to recruitand develop their running
backroom. I hope that we get to see
Michael Welch, Dallin Hayden, others step up and have big
years, and that seems to be the expectation that Prime has for

(17:41):
this program in 2025, he said. Look, I don't know how we're
going to win or how it's going to be at the end of games.
It might be a Hail Mary, but it's going to be a hell of a
hard game. We're going to be physical, we
want to run the football and that's going to be new.
It's going to be new for a program that's been predicated
on the arm of Shaddor Sanders. If he didn't throw the ball,

(18:03):
they didn't move the ball, he didn't throw the ball, they
didn't score. Now you have Kaden Salter and
Juju Lewis, 2 predominantly dualthreat quarterbacks that you can
do a lot with now. I'm still I think Kaden Salter
is going to get that Week 1 start.
He is the veteran and he provides you the opportunity to

(18:24):
throw the ball anywhere you wantaround the yard and to run with
the football. He is much faster than should do
or Sanders. He's much faster than what
they're used to having a quarterback now.
How does Pat Shermer integrate? Kaden Salter skill set will be
interesting and that's what a good offensive coordinator is
going to do for both Juju and Kaden.
What do you do well and how manytimes can I give you an

(18:46):
opportunity to only play to yourstrengths?
I have a hard time thinking thatsome version of a zone read and
RPO approach is going to be at the forefront of what Kaden
Salters asked to do. Because he does have such good
eyes, because he can fool linebackers, because he can
diagnose a closing end or standing up in and he can make a

(19:09):
play with the football when the play breaks down.
The kind of plays that Shadora was trying to make tonight are
the kind of plays the Kaden Salter can.
When he's running away from you,he's actually running away from
you. He is that fast.
Juju is a great point guard on the football field.
He's going to diagnose the offense.
He's going to do a lot of his pre snap reads and then he's
going to see who does what and how quickly and get the ball out

(19:30):
of his hands. That doesn't necessarily mean
you're going to stand back there, take a 5 seven step drop
and throw a deep. It means that you're going to
try to get your receivers in positions to make a lot of plays
after the catch, to do damage after the catch.
Slants, some comebacks, some digs, mesh concepts, drags.

(19:52):
These are the kind of things that I think the passing attack
for both Kaden and Juju could work.
Sometimes it's called Quick Game, but if you have a playbook
that is built like Shermer's, you got a lot of this in it.
You got to pay playbook that's built like Gus Malzahn.
Probably not Gus Malzahn is trying to go for broke with most
of passing concepts. I think when they get away from

(20:13):
that, they're not that good. I really enjoyed how Kevin
Stefanski allowed Shidor Sanderscontinue to play and find the
rhythm because you could hear itin the broadcast.
They kept expecting him to get the hook right after the first
quarter, after the second quarter, and then he's back in
the third quarter and going, oh,they really are trying to give
him every opportunity to put good tape on film and excuse me,

(20:38):
put well, put film onto. Yeah, good film on tape.
You're also saying in telegraphing, we expect this guy
to be around if we're giving himthis many snaps and he does one
of those things that I think he gets from prime right.
And I think this is what Kaden Salter and Juju Lewis could pick
up from. She'd do her.
If nothing else, the ability to lead your team and be authentic

(21:02):
is always going to be important in football.
I think what Prime tries to do with these players, especially
those that you know haven't played with his sons, is
probably instill upon them one of the things that you can take
control of is how you walk around in the world.
Do you have integrity and then do you outwork anybody else?

(21:22):
The athleticism and the talent will show up, but you can't
teach people to be on time. You can't teach people how to
talk humbly about their accolades.
That's something you've got to have when you walk in the door.
I'm going to be really focused on what is the body language of

(21:43):
Colorado sideline this year whenthey're not in a good spot.
Even last year. I'm thinking about the Nebraska
game in particular here. You got to see Travis Hunter
loses. Cool, you saw she do her.
Sanders was not having a good time through that pick 6, and
you saw Prime was visibly upset about what his defense was
allowing Dylan Rayola to get away with.

(22:03):
I think that's going to be turned up a notch.
I think you're going to see him bear down a little bit more.
And now that you've got 2 coordinators that have been
together for at least a year andyou've got Warren Sapp on your
defensive line, you got MarshallFalk in your backfield, you got
a great opportunity here to go be good in a league where nobody
is expected to go win right away.
I mean, I should say nobody's expected to be better than

(22:24):
everyone else right away. Arizona State obviously going to
have the leg up there to defending Big 12 champs and they
got their two best playmakers coming back on offense,
quarterback Sam Levitt, wide receiver Jordan Dyson.
But outside of Tyson and Levitt, you can look around the league
and go Rocco Beck and Iowa Statelook pretty good.
Jalen Daniels and Kansas look pretty good.
Avery Johnson and Kansas State don't really play a game where

(22:46):
they shouldn't be favored. And then there's Kaden Salter,
Juju Lewis and Colorado. You keep Connor Wigman is down
at at Houston. Rich Rod, we don't know what
he's going to do at West Virginia, but we expect to be
good all up and down the Big 12.You're going to see something
like parity. And if it's about a play here
and a play there, I think a morephysical Colorado team is going

(23:07):
to be able to absolutely take advantage of that.
And not just when by say, throwing deep couple of times
and then holding on, but when bygrinding out the clock.
I think that's the next phase for Colorado.
We know you can score. We know you can put up points.

(23:29):
Can you take a double, you know,2 digit?
Yeah, 10 point leader, better double digit scorer or better
and sit on it? Can you just run it out?
That would be the measure of their physicality for me.
When we get to the third and fourth quarter, offensive line
ought to be better. We'll find out.

(23:50):
Defensive line might take some time to lay off some things over
there. I think that the Mckinneys are
going to make up for a lot of the mistakes that might be made
by the linebacking crew. But I'm bullish on this Colorado
team and I'm bullish on what I think they can still accomplish.
They have the same goal that many do.
Let's make the 12 team playoff and see where we we're at.

(24:12):
If that's where you're at, then we're on the same page, going to
take a short break, and then I'mgoing to take on a couple of
questions from the chat. So stick around if you've been
patient enough to listen to me talk about Colorado once again.

(24:48):
Back on Adapt and respond with me, RJ Young.
We have reached the mailbag portion of our live show right
here on the Youtubes. If you're new to the channel, go
ahead and hit that subscribe button like this video and give
me a question to answer and let's see if I can't beat it to
the comments below. So I'm going to take this
opportunity to look at what it is that y'all want to talk about

(25:09):
and see if I can't give you an answer to this.
Not in a hurry, but quicker you're getting in here the
quicker I can answer your question and see if we can't get
a good conversation going. Lot of y'all got things to say
about what Dylan Gabriel ain't do or does do and he didn't play
tonight. It's interesting.

(25:29):
Small hands pick. Oh come on man, some of y'all
just being being mean. You ain't got to be mean, baby.
What are we doing? What we got here?
Life's lottery. Let's see what you got, RJ.
When was your last time on the step mill?
This morning. This morning I hit the step mill
most days. I bought a road bike that I've

(25:51):
started to ride as well, picked up cycling, met some really cool
people, mostly doing things to not just stay in shape, but to
have fun. Like I, I treat my workouts like
fun. But I say I'm not on the step
mill because I'm not. I'm sitting down and I'm hosting
Adapt and Respond from a studio. One of the things that would

(26:12):
really get on my nerves about mycome up was that I didn't have a
proper place to grow into the kind of host that you're looking
at now. So I got started making YouTube
videos using my iPhone while on a piece of cardio equipment

(26:32):
called a step mill. And I would say I'm back on the
step mill, OK, the early iterations of the show and you
can go back to 2017, September 2017 if you were inclined or
just that because it was a bit that I could do and it gave me a
little bit of a different vantage and different aspect for

(26:54):
you to enjoy talking about college football commentary.
So that is the reason that I sayI'm not on a step No, because
it's it is pointing to my roots and the come up.
So there are a lot of folks thatare new to the show and have
never seen me on a step mill andmay never see me on the step
mill. But yeah, I was on the step mill
this morning. I just didn't make no videos,

(27:16):
right. I didn't do no live shows from
there. Let's see what else we got in
here. Keep the room dark.
It looks cool. By the way, do you watch the
shy? Thank you.
I like my dark studio too. And again, late night is what
we're going to be doing. A lot of games app game after
games end post games are usuallylate and I wanted a show that

(27:37):
reflects that. I also it was creating this new
show right as sinners hit movie theaters and I love Sinners.
I love Ryan Coogler, I love Michael B Jordan, I love that
movie. So when you see all the Reds and
you see the yellows and you see the palette, that's also what
we're going to going for, right? It is no, we're we're going to

(28:00):
be bold with this show and we have a different kind of feel
for it where we're going to be following biggest game and
you're going to show up and expect me to be on my PS and QS
to know exactly what it is that I'm doing at that moment.
But it's not going to look dissimilar from what you might
have saw with the number one college football show when there

(28:22):
was a whole bunch of people at Fox that helped us put that
together. But that's where I love.
That's what I love. That's where I live is in the
reaction to the games as they are are ending.
And I believe that is where mostpeople find value for me.
Throughout the week, we commentate and talk about the
news and we keep you up on the news.
We talk about the teams that youwant to hear me talk about.

(28:44):
That's why you don't hear a whole lot of Tarlington State.
No disrespect to the Texans out there, but they're just ain't a
whole lot of call for that sort of a video or segment, I should
say, about the college footballs.
Let's see what else we got in here.
Think I got time for two more questions.
What I see JJ Shulan or Shulan, you can correct me in the in the

(29:09):
in the chat. It's fine.
RJ, what game you have as the biggest week one in college?
OK, what do I think is the biggest game for week 1?
I think it's an obvious answer. It's Texas at Ohio State.
It is the defending champions against the team they knocked

(29:31):
out of the College Football Playoff in the semi finals.
It is Steve Sarkeesian versus Ryan Day.
It is Julian saying versus Arch Manning.
It is Jeremiah Smith versus the world is DeAndre Moore wanting
to become the best Texas wide receiver ever.
And it is a first match up between me since, again, last

(29:53):
year, been the regular season since 2005.
And you'll remember Texas won the national championship in
2005. Now, Arch Manning, I believe, is
the most talented quarterback that Texas has had since Vince
Young. And I'm including Colt McCoy in
that statement, but I also believe that Colt McCoy is the
best representative for what youwant in a Texas quarterback.

(30:16):
And arch man, you can do both ofthose things.
He's super athletic, he's very fast, he's got a really strong
arm, and he's affable. All those things work to your
good. Meanwhile, Ohio State had to
look at the coaches poll and seethat they're #2 to Texas A-Team
they beat last year. Why?
We're the defending champs and you can make all sorts of

(30:36):
reasons as to why you can't beatMichigan, or at least you
haven't the last four years. You haven't won the Big 10
championships since 2019 or 2020I should say.
And you've had tremendous turnover, quarterback position,
offensive line, your edge rushers, JT 2 and Will Allow and
Jack Sawyer gone. You know, Kaden Kaylin, Caleb

(30:58):
Downs is still there. Arvel Reese is going to play a
lot. Sonny Styles is going to lead
that defense. We'll see new running back room,
James Peoples and CJ Donaldson. And yeah, your strength is still
going to be the wide receiver corps, but you've got a brand
new offensive coordinator of sorts and Brian Hartline, who's
taking the step up. And Matt Patricia, who is from
the NFL, you know, for the last few years, took a year off to

(31:22):
try to figure out what he is he wants to do and got this
opportunity to coach defense at Ohio State.
He's not going to look and get force in the mouth.
That's the biggest game for me. I got time for one more
question. See, looking for one more

(31:47):
question. OK, All right.
Scrolled up to Studio Bajas who asked the Browns have their
future QB. Do you think should Door should
start and Flacco play the backup?
It's an interesting question. I think it is How committed are
you to to the should Door Sanders experience?

(32:08):
One of the best ways to hurt a quarterback's development is to
put him out and they say before he's ready, but to have a
terrible experience and that be the baseline for everything he
does. If you're going to treat Shudur
Santa's like the Indianapolis Colts treated Peyton Manning
first, got started, absolutely nobody was coming in and relieve
him. He's going to throw a bunch of

(32:29):
interceptions just how it's going to go.
Or you can be Patrick Mahomes and what Andy Reid did, which is
you're going to play a year behind Alex Smith and then we'll
see. I think that's the route you
would like to take. I think you would like to see
Joe Flacco or even Deshaun Watson, who can still play at
Cleveland, do what they need to.And then you hand the job off
because not only would you be able to hand the job off to a

(32:54):
younger future quarterback, you can get him at a discount.
Like one of the things that madethe Niners great was Brock Purdy
was playing on a seventh round contract.
Even at quarterback, you're saving a lot of money so you can
give more money to the dudes that make you go, right?
I think that would be a strategic way for Andrew Berry

(33:14):
and Kevin Stefanti to go, which you do.
Or look at the value that you'vehad to put on him.
What else could you get with themoney that you saved?
And let's not waste this last few years of Miles Garrett being
outstanding. Let's see what you are capable
of this year. And then if you got a reset,
reset and you've got draft capital that you can use in

(33:34):
2026. So we'll see.
I'm confident that they'll figure that part out.
But I would expect him to eitherbe the starter and them say
Joe's just going to be here in case he gets hurt.
Or, and I think this is much more likely, Joe Flacco starts
every single game this year. And then you hand the job off to
Shadour Sanders or Dylan Gabriel, even Kenny Pickett.

(33:57):
But tonight, I think we saw enough to know she, Doer Sanders
has enough to start in this league.
And if he gets the kind of support that I think Cleveland
wants to give him, he can truly be amazing.
He could truly be great. All right, that is going to do
it for this episode, this live episode of ADAPT and respond

(34:18):
with me, RJ Young. If you're new to this channel,
hit that subscribe button. We have an upcoming live show at
noon on Monday, which will be about an hour after we expect
The Associated Press to drop itspreseason top 25.
So we'll have plenty to talk about as we go into the last
final week without college football.
And then, well, I should say that, damn, I got ahead of

(34:40):
myself the last two weeks without college football.
And then it's party, baby. It's an absolute party.
All right, I will see y'all on the flip side doses.

(35:16):
Music.
