Hosts Sheryl Matthys and Karith Foster talk to Thy Cavagnaro, pet parent to Atka the Eski. As a Vietnamese political refugee in 1975, Thy fled Saigon, barely a toddler, with her family of five and dog on one scooter. Although the dog was not allowed to continue the journey to America, her family was never without a pet of some sort. Thy's love and passion for animals was evident from the very beginning, unwavering even when she was severely bitten in the face by their Basset Hound as a small child. She was always the person to show an innate understanding of animals, gained the most trust from them, and enjoyed teaching the family pets how to do tricks completely of her own accord. Thy & her dogs have been featured in books, newspapers, blogs, video and on national TV, for Animal Planet's "Dogs 101" series.
