In this conversation Craig gets to visit with Dr. Brittany Wilson associate professor of New Testament at Duke University Divinity School about her book, Embodying God: Seeing the Divine in Luke-Acts and the Early Church, and the different ways that ways we can be enabled to consider the presence of God. One of the things that this book creates is a little bit of a conflict with the classic hymn, Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise. Rather we end up finding that God is not always so invisible. Relying on both in the Hebrew tradition that Luke leans on, as well as the way he uses language to describe the presence of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke and the way Jesus maintains his presence through the Holy Spirit in the Book of Acts.
Along the way we pick up other ideas of how this book, and the ideas presented in it, can be helpful in congregational settings. We get a bit curious about whether or not the concept of God’s embodiment plays out in charismatic churches. And conclude with a bit of conversation about the Durham Bulls minor League Baseball team.
