The Colorado Rapids lose 3-0 to the LA Galaxy. The Galaxy got on the board during the 7th minute and never looked back. The positive side of tonight's loss is the Rapids got to see their new weapons in action. Could that provide a spark down the road? Only time will tell. Connor Cape and Drew Moor have the call from California. Their next game is vs Sporting KC next Saturday at 6:30 MT.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Our playing advantages.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Harbor Miller was fouled in the Galaxy up that left
flank for the Rapids. Yamane drags it back, Miller scores.
Seventh minute. The Rapids are in a one zeerod hole.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
And it's Harbor Miller.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
And there's now two goals this season from the eleven
players that are on the field, and it's an early
goal conceded by the Rapids.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
And in this first seven minutes, Connor, you.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Have to say, this Galaxy side does look like a
group that's playing very.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Free throw in for the Galaxy come back to Winder
in the middle third, but Winder's gonna come downhill.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Winder's looking for a shot.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Winder rolls it over to Yamane, Yamane back in front.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
And it's knocked honed by Winder. That is the worst
possible thing that could have happened.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
And you see the group of.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Players, Elijah Winders celebrate with the Galaxy substitutes. Rapid they're
going to make some changes here and it's a good
run from Elijah Winder, just no commitment from the Rapids
defensively to step.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Out to him.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
So he gets the ball, goes around Cole Bassett Max
two steps out, know what CoV steps out, but neither
of them really commit to a challenge or a tackle, and.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
It's a good clever play.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
He continues his run just off the shoulders of the
center backs and Mickey Yamani finds him.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Now Yappie commits a found and so.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Coming on for number twenty one, he's going to be
the new number ten in Colorado. Acquired from Eintrach Frankfurt
in the Bundesliga in a club record deal. Axton Aronson
makes his Rapids debut. He is a guy who at

(02:08):
his press conference said, I will work with him without
the ball. I will work to get the ball to
Haffin Ovahu, get it to Darren Yappi to create goals.
And he steps on the pitch at Dignity Health Sports
Park with the Rapids trailing to zero and looking for

(02:29):
that spark in the center and he immediately comes on
it commits a foun.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Well, he said he was gonna work both sides of
the ball, and what a great opportunity, what a great
game to come into to show that you can provide
that spark, and we all believe that he can.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
But you're down to nil.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
This is a game that has opened up a little bit.
Can he find good spots? Can he get on the ball?
Can he create? Can he settle into this burgundy side
quickly and try to get the wrap it's back into
this match and get something out of it. I'm excited
to see him go to work.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
He wants to be in Colorado, he wants to contribute,
wants to be here long term.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Signed a five year deal.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
On the ball right now in the center circle, sprinting
away from trouble Aaronson knocks it over to Vines. Vines
corner of the eighteen shuffles it to the in line.
Cross scooped up, headed out by the galaxy. Not a
bad ball in from Vines, Larraz top of the eighteen
knocks it over to Navajo. Navajo can't hang on to it.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Oh, he had Alex Harris running off his right side
as well.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Vines sprinting back with pack pack into the box Copriel pack.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
They make it look easy.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
There's a good opportunity for the Rapids on the other side.
Just ten seconds before, nice little flick from darreny happy
to Oliver Laura's in space gets it to Hapinavah who
can't find Alex Hairs on his right side, and it's
the three substitutes hooking up Joseph Painsell Tamarco Royce to

(04:30):
Gabrielle Peck on the right side, and he's got so
much pace. He's one of those players Peck that seems
to get faster when he's.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
On the ball.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Sam Vines not able to track him down and he
just rolls it past Zach Stepan.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
And that's where your rest defense just it needs to
be on. Its a game.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Triple change coming for Colorado, and we got a pair
making their Rapids debuts and one of them make his
MLS debut. First up, Sam Bassett comes on, and then
the newly acquired fullback Hafasantos comes on and then making
his MLS debut, Amadu Dada number forty five in Burgundy,

(05:15):
Sam Bassett halfa Santos Amadu Dada eightieth minute, three nil Galaxy.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Then a change for the home sign Julian Aude comes on.
I want to highlight Amadu Dada.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Congratulations to him. It's been the second team in the
last couple of seasons, been a big part of that
group and they're run to the conference final. Back in
twenty twenty three and it's able to come up and
train with the first team.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Does an extremely good job.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Has worked really hard in his time for the Rapids,
so loved to see him here on his debut.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, congrats to him. Spend any time talking to Brian Crookham.
You know how hard the guys for R two work.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
None of them work harder Venamada do, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Rapids trying to create something here late past and Aaronson
at the corner of the eighteen shuffles into the box.
Double teams got it away to Sam Bassett, dragged it wide,
took a deflection, gonna be a corner or else. We
were about to have Sam Bassett's first MLS goal eighty
second minute three nail Galaxy.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
It's good play from Aaronson as well. Again, it's pretty
very positive, very direct.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
He's a pretty good player. Sure is.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Excited to see what Hafa Santos can bring in his
first minutes with the Rapids as well. He's got a
nice left foot. He's very positive and direct as well
from his back position.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Bassit right foot of ball gets headed out off.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
A son Toos who stung it on the volley and
it gets deflected over the bar.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
We'll do another corner. What an introduction that might have
been with.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
His off foot as well. He's just talking about his
left foot. He absolutely gets hold of this strike straight
out of the air with the inside of his right foot,
and I was gonna test Marsankowski if it wasn't blocked.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Basst to Aaronson in the box, Paxon Aaron said, off
the post, Packson a Vajo can't clean it up.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Sometimes nothing goes your way.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Oh, that would have been great to see Paxon Aironson
score here. It's great play by him, good control, just
hits it off the post, smart Sekowski's beaten and Alex Harris.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Tries to get to it.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
I think he just gets into Hafenavajo's way, who's in
a better spot to put the rebound home.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
And not able to direct it on goal.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
But another glimpse into what you can expect from Paxton Aaronson.
It's a good play between him and Cole Bassett to
create the opportunity. And it's just kind of the night
the Rapids have had, even when they do create not
able to find the scoreesheet. There's good players in this

(08:35):
league that thrive in those situations, you start conceding goals
in transition, you're gonna get in trouble.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
So final whistle, three nil, Galaxy. That is a tough one.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
We talked about this in the last couple of weeks, especially.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
After the win at Minnesota where you beat a team
above you on the road, and then you look ahead
to the schedule and it's all right, Atlanta at home,
you need to win. That you did, and then you
have a two game road trip here and then Kansas
City next weekend, and you're thinking, it's hard to win
in the road on MLS, but these are two teams

(09:24):
below you that Kansas City is all but out of
it at this point mathematically. The Galaxy, they're done as
far as MLS Cup playoffs go, and they are in
the middle of a very very competitive League's Cup run
that they're on where they're gonna host Seattle here midweek
coming up. And you got a rotated Galaxy side, and

(09:48):
you think, on paper, you're.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
The better team. They're superstars. Began the game on the bench.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
You didn't see Peck paint soul Royce until late into
the second half, and you think, all right, need to
take advantage of this.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
The Rapids didn't, And you said, I.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Think at the top of the show, at the very beginning,
that it's almost a trap game because the guys who
are being rotated, if they are your quote unquote B
squad guys, your guys who aren't in your first choice eleven,
they don't want to be there. They want to be contributors,
and they see this as an opportunity to go up
against the team in a playoff spot in the Rapids

(10:27):
and take it to them and show Greg Vanny and
his coaching staff why they deserve more minutes with the
first choice eleven. And they came out and played that way.
They played that way like they had something to prove,
and the Rapids were just slow out of the gates,
conceded in the seventh minute, and never got their footing
in the game after that.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
It's difficult.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Some of my toughest games were when you see the
lineup and you see some names that you just weren't
expecting to see, and it's because they've changed their squad,
you know, because they're in different competitions, or because you
know they're going through a busy stretch of the season
and psychologically, it can it can play with you a

(11:11):
little bit, and you just.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
You can't let it. You gotta you gotta make it
about yourself. You gotta continue to be who you are.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
And I think this was a situation where, you know,
I don't I don't want to say the Rapids let
it toy with them psychologically, but they didn't put their best,
their best stuff on the field tonight. Both sides of
the ball, they got themselves in an early hole.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Galaxy looked the side that we're.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
More ready to play and playing with a bit of
freedom and and it affected the Rapids and they just
weren't able to get back into it.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
And you're gonna play against.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
A Kansas City side next weekend that are in a
similar situation, although a little bit closer to the playoff line.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
They have to go to Seattle tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
To try to get a result there, and I think
it's gonna be a similar situation. You have to focus
on yourself, a few of the Rapids. This is going
to be a very important week of preparation and reminders
that if we're not at our best, if we're not
close to our best and being who we are.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Then it's going to be difficult to get points.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
And it doesn't matter that it's you know, we're almost
in September here. You have to go and earn every
single point. You have to go out and make it happen.
And the rapids, they didn't make it happen tonight. The
galaxy did you have to give them credit

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
