Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's your boy, Sam Jones.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
The third.
Speaker 1 (00:02):
I played Pete Ross on the show small Villa, and
you're listening to Always hold On to Smallville.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Welcome to Always hold On to Smallville. In this podcast,
we've talked about each and every episode of the Young
Superman show that ran from two thousand and one to
twenty eleven on the WB and the CW. I'm your host,
Zach Moore, and I'm excited to present the top ten episodes.
That's right, the top ten episodes of Smallville as voted
(01:13):
by you the listeners. Now, this is a project we
did in the past on the Patreon, and since we've
concluded our episode by episode coverage here on Always Well
On to Smallville, it felt like the appropriate time to
release this onto the podcast proper. Now, how did I
determine the top ten episodes of Smallville? Well, again, this
is a past project we did on the Patreon. So
(01:35):
if you feel like, how did I miss this? Did
I miss a post an email a message? No, if
he did, it wasn't for a while back, so don't
feel too bad about it. But I put the word
out for people to send in their top ten episodes
of Smallville ranked which is very important, and any honorable
mentions they might also have send those in and then
I would calculate and tabulate what the top ten episodes
(01:57):
of Smallville were based off of those. Now how did
I do this? Well, say, if you sit in your
top ten list and the pilot was number one on
your list, it got ten points. And if someone else
did in their top ten list and the pilot was
number two on their list, it got nine points. And
if someone else did in their list and the pilot
(02:19):
was number three on their list, it got eight points, etc.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Etc.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Etc. I hope you can follow me on the map there. So,
every time an episode got a first place vote, it
got ten points. Every time an episode got a tenth
place vote, it got one point. So that's how all
those points were tabulated. Some episodes didn't get any points,
didn't get any votes, but I added up all the
points each episode got, then added up the total number
(02:44):
of points, and I found in percentage calculator online to
help me with this, so I was able to figure
out the percentage each episode got and therefore its plays
on the list based off the total number of points
of all the votes, and then the points each episode
got so I hope that makes sense. I'm not mister
(03:05):
math over here. Math is not my strong suit, and
that's why I use the calculator I found online, but
hopefully you guys follow that math and logic. Also interesting
to note, which we'll talk about on this podcast episode
as well, is how the seasons ended up being ranked,
because I figured, well, if we' ranking all these episodes,
I can actually organize them by season and then determine
(03:26):
how many points each season got, and again, using that
total points, find the percentage of what each season got
and figure out how they're ranked by the listeners. We'll
talk about that briefly in this episode. It's not a
huge point of conversation because this is about the top
ten episodes. It was just an interesting statistic to talk
(03:49):
about for a little bit, since you know the numbers
were here and this episode is about the honorable mentions. Now,
with a show that has two hundred eighteen episodes, making
a top ten list it's pretty hard. So I wanted
to include honorable mentions. And how did I calculate those,
you might ask, Well, I gave them a half point.
Any episode they got an honorable mention got a half point,
(04:11):
and I thought that was a fair way to factor
them in to all the rankings here. So in this episode,
I am joined by Lance Laster from Always Up to
Hero and Victoria Malay and we talk about how the
seasons ended up being ranked ten to one our personal
top ten lists, and we talk about your honorable mentions,
(04:34):
basically the top five, which amounted to, you know, fifteen, fourteen, thirteen, twelve, eleven.
If that's the way you want to look at it,
I think this is a really fun project. I'm looking
forward to sharing it with you all. And with no
further ado, let's get into it.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Do you believe a man can fly?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
People can't fly?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Lex I did October sixteenth on the WB's New Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
It's the day of the meteor shower. This is how
you came into our world.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
So, huh, what are you trying to tell me that
a small town on the edge of innocence.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
That's me, Clerk.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
I used to people judging me before they get to
know me. Don't want anything to stand in the way
of our friendships.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Sometimes people can surprise you.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
We have a future, Clerk, a young man on the
threshold of destiny.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
We wanted to protect you and protect me from what.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Michael Rosenbaum, Kristen Crook and Tom Wallie wa did to
find you, clerk, you found us a WB presents a
small bill.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
What do you guys think the number one percentage? Which
season got the most percentage in this top ten list?
You think season three?
Speaker 5 (06:05):
Okay? I'm torn between five or one. Okay, I almost
wanted to say season seven just to piss you off.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Well, you guys would be happy to know the season
seven it myself. You guys would be happy to know
the season seven is last. It's dead last at number
ten with a two point nine percent of the vote.
Sounds right, No surprise, there're now Victoria. You've been recently
rewatching season seven and it has it has continued to
not live up to your expectations. Is that correct?
Speaker 5 (06:34):
There have been several times where I'm like, oh, this
is why, this is where I fell off when I
was like watching it in real time.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Okay, So you said season three would be first, and
you said season one or five?
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Right?
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yes, so you're both wrong. Starting strong, I would have
been wrong as well, So don't feel bad. Season eight
was ninth with six point two percent of the vote,
and that makes sense because season eight started off very strong.
I think was the soft rebooted the show. Who would
have thought without like sleuth of the show would actually
be good and it just fell apart after the second half.
(07:06):
What do you think?
Speaker 1 (07:07):
I agree, because like I was on board up through
that mid season finale, and then it just went off
the rails after that, like immediately after.
Speaker 5 (07:17):
Yeah, I just felt like they ran out of steam.
So I agree with y'all.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
If only they were had like thirteen episode seasons like today,
small would be such a better show.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
It really would, because then they would have these terrible
filler episodes.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah, like yeah, Sleeper. No one voted for Sleeper, by
the way, just throwing that out there. What's next? Season
one is eighth unfortunately with six point seven percent. I
love season one, y'all love season one, but apparently our
listeners don't love season one.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
That's that's a little odd, Like a lot of the
stronger episodes of the entire series are found in season one.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Zach and I have talked about this that we're both
very like vintage Smallville people. We tend to cherish the
earlier episodes of Small Belt. Oh yeah, I found that
shocking because there's several episodes from season one that made
my list.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Next and this is this is tough for me. Season
nine was seventh with eight point five percent. I love
season nine. Season nine to me justifies the series running
as long as it did because He's nine was so good.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
That makes no sense. Season nine is one of the
best all around seasons of television period, like in existence,
that makes no sense to me.
Speaker 5 (08:26):
I get it. Uh, yeah, I still think it's low
because but I get it too because again, like the series,
it wasn't in its sweet spot. It like Rediscovered, but
it had lost and like I love the cloest of
it all, but I get it.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Sixth is season six with nine point six percent, and
season six is kind of a table two seasons. I
think you had the first half which is like Justin
Hartley and the Justice League and Green Arrow, right, and
you get second half with Flex and Lana and their
baby Garbage.
Speaker 6 (08:57):
Oh the.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Baby.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Uh, there's no weird demon baby.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I know, I know Garbage.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Eh, he looks out of me. He's the tree. Oh boy.
Season six right?
Speaker 5 (09:10):
Oh, I remember of season six and like the Lana miscarriage,
weird demon baby is that? Like there's an ultrasound and
it looks like the baby is like head turns and
you're like it's a demon.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
That is straight out of the X Files. There is
there is a scene just like that in the Xos.
I'm pretty sure they ripped off h. So Fifth would
be season five, so right in the middle with just
saying yeah with ten percent, season six at nine point six.
I forget if I said that season five had ten percent.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Season four is totally gonna be the number one, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
We'll see. Fourth would be season three with thirteen percent.
I've come around to think season three is the best season.
I really appreciate what they did there, Like they had
they had an idea, they had an arc, they went
through it all the way. It paid off. They didn't
have a rider's strike or actors die or actors quit
or anything like that they had to do with later
in the show. Fourth is a pretty respectable number of
thirteen percent.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
I've never loved season three. Season three I think because
it was so dark and like on I don't know
if this is just like my mind tinting it in
this way, but it was very like dark and kind
of cold or for like it was like the vibe
of the season for me, I know that makes absolutely
no sense, but season three has never been one of
my favorites. I'm I'm a season two season four girl.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Okay, season two, season four, well, you be having to
know that season two is third on the list. Was
thirteen point two perset.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
That makes sense. I mean season two had was pretty
good and it had good stuff in it, But yeah,
I think you have to remember where season two kind
of falls into stuff. We talk all the time about
how season two and season three were at like the
height of small those popularity, so most people remember stuff
from those eras.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
Season two, I think, in my opinion, is the strongest
season of the show, So I'm not really that it's
top three interesting.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
So do you know are you aware that Reducs is
in season two?
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Yes, no season is perfect, zach I said the strongest.
I didn't say a perfect.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Season, nocturn obtously right before you ducks just throw them
out there. Yeah, Skinwalker not too.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
Good, but I liked I liked that character though, like
I am like, I am closed through and through, but
I am all for an interesting female love interest for Clark,
or male love interest that could have gotten interesting female
love interest for Clark. That was not Lana.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
I one agree with you. That's why I love Alicia. Uh,
she's one of my favorite characters because she's she like
challenges Clark in a completely different way than everybody anybody
else does, and he needed that, and it's it's such
a shame that she couldn't stay on the show long.
Speaker 5 (11:39):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
So our number two season, season four, with fourteen point
three percent of the vote. And you think yourself, why,
And I think you look at the episodes, right, You
get Crusade, Run, Transference, and Onyx to me, like those
are for the best episodes of the show. You also
gets Safe Yeah, harai, okay, those are sure. You know,
(12:03):
Crypto's pretty good like dogs. You know you also have
Ageless and Forever and Facade. You don't like Commencement.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
No, I'm just saying it's there.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Oh okay, we're talking about Blank.
Speaker 5 (12:16):
I also think Blank is a really good episode.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
I do too.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
I do too.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
So the number one season, season ten, with fifteen point
seven percent. So does that surprise you? Victoria is very surprised.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
Blows my mind. Blows my mind, But I guess because
it was everything coming together.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
It's interesting because like nine was so much better than ten.
But I think just because every like, as you said,
everything was coming together, and also people knew that it
was the last season, so I guess that's why, you know,
it got new people, but also probably got a lot
of old viewers back for ten because they wanted to
see it end. I know we've I've been guilty of
watching something as it's about to end because after I've
(12:58):
not watched it for a while, just because I'm curios.
And I think a lot of viewers were the same way,
and they probably liked a lot of the episodes that
were in ten. Ten has good episodes. It has my
favorite episode of Smallville in it, and we'll talk about
that later.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Speaking of that is a big reason why season ten ranks.
So how you have Homecoming, you have Finale. You also
have the Altering Universe episodes Ken and Luthor. People love those.
I love those. So so you have individual episodes that
that really people rank really high, and that kind of
skews the numbers and that and that and that's so
those are your season percentages. I thought that'd be fun
(13:31):
to talk about off the top here. So now let's
take a minute and share our own personal top ten lists. So, Victoria,
what is your top ten? Should we go ten to
one or one to ten? Ten to one is more suspenseful, right, Do.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
I start with honorable mentions?
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Though, No, because we're gonna do those, because that's going
to onto our actual discussion.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
Gotcha? Do you have it? You do? Like Smallville? Have
it all mapped out? Number ten, Reckoning number nine, Session
number eight, Justice number seven, Perry number six, x Ray
number five, Crusade number four, Transforence number three, Run number two,
(14:14):
Rosetta number one, Metamorphosis.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Met Amorphosis, Wow, I love that episode as well. To me,
metamorphos in the pilot are like two parts of the
same thing. Yeah, Like I can never watch them independent
of each other.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yeah, I agree, Like I view metamorphosis as part of
the pilot. It's a set I do too.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
That was kind of me also saying the pilot.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Yeah, because like if you think, I mean this is controversial, right,
But here's the hot take, Like I think, what did
I rank the pilot B? Because it's like I always
like ben Morphs is way better than the pilot because
the pilot's like incomplete, Like Lex finds a scryptine in
the field and Clark has no resolution with Whitney Orlana,
Like it's like it's it's kind of an incomplete thing,
and to think it's crazy they filmed it months later. Yeah,
(14:54):
but and Tom only and Famesy had to get like
a hair extensions that costs one hundreds of thousands of
dollars or something because he got a haircut. He had
that mopped up in the first couple episodes. But anyway, Mad,
props to you for ranking menamorphis number one.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
The okay cool?
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yeah, so, Lance, why don't you tell us your top
ten list? For me?
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Ten is Justice number nine, Reckoning number eight, Bride number seven,
Luthor number six, Rosetta number five, Absolute Justice number four,
Memoria number three, Pilot, which I do consider Metamorphosis is
a part of It's like number two Salvation and number
(15:38):
one Homecoming.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Homecoming very good. Our our lists are kind of similar,
at least half of them. I think. I think we
were like half and half on our list.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Well that should surprise no one, but Homecoming it like,
it's my favorite episode of the show, and in my opinion,
the best episode of the show. It's interesting he's seeing
these lists, like you know, and hearing these like it's
it definitely reflects the personalities of the people who were
were making them, So that's kind of interesting.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
So here's my top ten list number ten, Onix number nine,
Absolute Justice number eight, Kent number seven, Justice number six,
Shattered number five, Tempest number four, Rosetta number three, Memoria
number two, Homecoming number one, Salvation. So Lance and I
(16:31):
has flipped our one in two Salvation. That is my
favorite episode because I feel like I was so proud
of the show for finally sticking the landing with season
finale after so long. Arctic was bad, Doomsday was awful.
You had a season long story and like a bad guy,
and they built up to it and I cared about it.
They had actual fight at the end. I'm like that,
that's awesome. That's probably, like arguably the best fight of
(16:52):
the show.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
Yeah, it's an intense one. So I totally see where
you're coming from with that one.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
It's true. And I remember, like we when we watch it,
like it got us like really excited for season ten,
like so much stuff happens in that finale, But like,
you're right, it did stick the landing. It settled everything
from season nine and then got you really excited and
left things on the table for a season ten and
so you know, they really hit it out of the
(17:17):
park with that one.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Yeah, I was just I was really excited for m
clark was gonna pull the little crypt onin it out
and fly. And then when all the paradems were gonna
fight Green Arrow, I was so excited for those things,
and then we didn't get that in season ten. But
it's all good. So there you have it. You know
what you can do. So those are our top ten lists.
We'll have some other panelists join us in the future
where they can read their top list then, but that
brings us to honorable mentions, and that's what we're here
to talk about today because because you know, we will
(17:41):
move forward in these episodes, we're literally gonna go down
like here is the number the People's Choice Awards of Smallville,
right the number ten episode you had four and then
we all kind of talked about that's kind of the
idea of this moving forward. But this is this is
an opportunity for us to talk about anything. They didn't
really make the list, so to speak. It is a list,
so it's not so to speak, So honorable mentions. Victoria
I had a couple of honorable mentions on your list.
(18:01):
Why don't you tell us what those are and why
you included them on your list?
Speaker 5 (18:05):
I included Infamous and Shield. I thought Infamous was such
an First of all, I loved that they first of all, yeah,
I love that they brought back a freak of the
week who was such a week freak of the Week
Tory spelling is Linda Lake and then actually made her
really really interesting and like that's what her episode should
(18:28):
have been in season six. But I really liked how
they utilized that character and it wasn't just another rando,
and how it posed this really interesting question about what
if Clark was open about his powers? And it was
so fascinating to me to see that explored and to
think about that and explore that for an episode. Of course,
I think the time travel of it all makes it
(18:49):
kind of wonky, and that's why it didn't make the
top ten for me. But that was something that I
just really enjoyed because I also love like it also
kind of felt like super manny to me, or something
that I would also think of as super like as
Superman if what if he was open about his powers
and was more of a public figure, so I liked
that it posed this really interesting alternate situation on the
(19:12):
construct of the character. And then I also love I'm
always loved like a flirty Lois and Clark moment, which
we had, Like that scene in the back office at
the Planet is one of my favorites.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
And then I can't call you smallvel anymore.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Yeah, I like literally iconic. And then shield I loved
Lois getting able to Lois and be a reporter on
assignment in Africa. And I also love I love mythology,
specifically Greek mythology, but I'll take any mythology. So I
liked that we had that whole scene with her and
(19:50):
oh my god, I'm blanking on his name, Michael Shanks
Hawkman Okay, yeah, michaushe and.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Like he's saving Hope. This is this is the backdoor
for saving Hope. I believe, yes, yes, okay.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Starting with her ink, I was like Hawkman, but what's
his real name?
Speaker 1 (20:04):
I believes his real name?
Speaker 5 (20:05):
Okay, yeah, okay, thank you.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Which also quick aside, I have a student whose name
is Carter Hall, and like when I met him the
first time, I freaked out, and he's just like he's like,
oh yeah, He's like, I'm hawkman. I'm like, yes, you're
my favorite kid.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Amazing. I love that. I loved also getting to have
Lois open up about her insecurities about her relationship with Clark,
and like, the things that she talks about are real
concerns that you would have if you were with someone
like Clark or trying to navigate that relationship. I also
loved how not toxic it was that Clark was like, no,
(20:39):
she's doing this. I respect it. And he drops the
plane ticket at the end of the episode and like
does his own thing, Like, let's hear it for a
healthy relationship on Smallville, y'all.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
He took us ten years he finally learned yes.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
And then I think it didn't make the listen for
me because then there's all then there's the whole. And
I appreciate what they were trying to do with the
suicide squad.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yes, and the second Cat Grant oh god yeah, well yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
And that was the reason why I liked it too,
is because like I feel like Cat Grant is the
kind it almost resonated today to the type of person
that Cat Grant is and the type of reporter she Is,
so I found that weirdly relevant. But I also hated
how toxic and not healthy Oliver was about Chloe, and
like I liked how Clark was like no, Chloe's brilliant.
She has a plan. I know it's not fun, but
(21:31):
we have to trust it, just like what I'm doing
with Lois and Oliver's like no. So those are my
why I love them and why they got very close
and ultimately why they didn't make the listen.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
For me, I agree with you about the Oliver thing.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
That and it's the introduction of Clark's red jacket, which
I don't like as much as the black suit. Wait,
do you like you like the season ten of the
season nine costume more Victoria?
Speaker 5 (21:55):
I like the season ten because it's the we're so
close to the real thing.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Okay, for enough what lens black Trend's coat?
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Yeah, me too, because it looks like a cape.
Speaker 5 (22:05):
Okay, I get it.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
And I like the matrix anyway.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
I hate the matrix. Oh my god, that because this
could be a whole nother podcast and we're not going
to go there.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Time out for like just two minutes. Did you see
all three matrices together or did you No?
Speaker 5 (22:18):
I just saw the first one and it was enough.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
You saw the first one and you don't like it. Wow, Okay, interesting,
We'll talk about that another time off macphone. Okay, go ahead,
let's you go ahead and give us your bottom more mentions.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
My first one was Kent on my list. It is
on your list, and it's a great episode. I love
the alternate universe stuff. I love alternate universe stuff in
fiction anyway. However, in season ten, I think it didn't
make the actual list because I think Luthor is just better.
It's just a better episode. More has, Yeah, it has.
(22:51):
It has one of my favorite lines of the show
in that episode when he's proving to Lois that like
he's not Clark Luthor and he's like, I can't live
in a world where you don't like me, And I
was like, ah, that is a great line and I'm
going to steal that for the future Missus Laster at
some point. And so that's why it is not on
my list, but it is an honorable mention because Kent
is a great episode. The next one I had was
(23:14):
Lexmus because I am a sucker for Christmas specials and
anything that is a Christmas carol, Like I'm all about
and especially with in regards to Lex's character, and he
like kind of makes the decision to be Lex Luthor
in this like ultimately in this episode, and that's that's
an interesting way to take it because normally, like in
(23:34):
all these Christmas specials, and especially one that's you know, Scrooge,
like you make the opposite decision that Lex does. That's
that's interesting and that's a good insight into Lex's character.
And then my final honorable mention was Vessel, mostly because
Vessel's badass and really liked that episode. We both I
remember we were in college when we watched that. Oh
(23:55):
my god, that takes us back. But it was just
a great episode. It has a lot of really good moments.
There a lot of promise that unfortunately didn't get paid off.
But we're small though fans, so we're used to it
at this point.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
All right. So my album wentch Is. I also had three,
one of which I share with you. Lant's Vessel. I
loved the Vessel season five at the time, was like,
that's about series. This is what I wanted all this
to hide because it's like, oh, the show's that they
thought the show was ending, so they have like Jonathan
Dye and the Fortress of Solitude and Brainiac and Krypton stuff,
and then they're like, oh no, we're so popular. Were
renewed for five more years, so we got to slow
(24:27):
it down. So they kind of backtrack on a few things.
At the time, I was all about Chloe and the
Chloeist theory cchl Ois. You know, you have Chloe working
on the Daily Planet and Clark stirking with Harry Ivana
over here with Lex and like they're like on both
sides of good and evil, and there's like the culmination
of that the best Clark and Chloe kiss of the
whole show, all right. I was like that was that
came out of nowhere and it was epic. You're like,
oh my god, damn, we're just breaking my ship or heart,
(24:51):
I know, right, Like he's gonna go off. He's like, Clark,
can never see you again. He's like gonna go anyway.
It was great. It was iconic, right. I Meanwhile, Lois
died in a plane crash. I think in that episode,
I don't know, like they kept screwing around with Lois
and they were like, Okay, what are we doing with her?
Because you forget about that. Like the cliffhanger for them is, yeah,
Martha and Lois crashed because brainy act took over their plate.
Like it's like, oh, okay, so I love Vessel. You
(25:12):
know it was little. You didn't get the same kind
of inding you got with like Salvation for example, with
like a big villain fight. Not that I need that,
but in a show like small level where it's all
like relationships and build up in secrets, like for a
season finale, like in a superhero action show. They called
me crazy, but I would like to see some kind
of superhero action conflict appened, and like they gave Zod
(25:34):
as lex like the Telecanesis power some Superman two where
you like kind of like nods his head and put
some of the in the phantom zone. That was another
oh cool moment because there's the phantoms out. It's like,
so that was cool, like because Land said, it's a
lot of promise and then you know you've opened the
portal for Zod. Ridiculous over the top by James Marshers,
but I loved it. So yeah, Vessel is definitely a
(25:55):
It was the Salvation before we got Salvation, you know,
so uh so that's why that's why it's on my
list for all those mons. Another one I have on
here is Bride. I know that you head on your list,
and we were talking about a little bit earlier, but
that that could have been a season finale because you
build up to dooms Day and then like in that
episode Doomsday, he looks huge and intimidating and powerful and
they shoot him just well enough where you can't really
(26:16):
tell like how big he is or anything that's going
on there, so you really buy. And Clark he doesn't.
He doesn't even stand a chance because he shouldn't because
he's like young Clark. Kenny's not Superman. And the teas
of Lex at the end, you're like, oh my god,
his Lex is coming back. Of course he didn't come back,
and Michael Rosewam was like, yeah, you know, you guys,
should I told him I wasn't coming back. I don't.
They shouldn't. They shouldn't have put that in there. I
(26:37):
love the vast song and it don't take your love away,
you know I love that?
Speaker 5 (26:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Okay, talk about Lewis and Clark, right, like by season eight,
I'd finally got on the Lewis and Clark manwag and
that was a great episode.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
Yeah, and but like, can we ever let Chloe be happy? No? Cool?
Speaker 2 (26:51):
I've always said this, like some girl named Chloe must
have broken alur myles hearts back in the day, Like
we're gonna make this girl just have the worst life ever.
So but yeah, so that was a great like the
first half of seas name is great, and that was
a great cap to it. That's why Bride's on my list.
I'm like, Smallville is back. I can't wait for the
second half of the season.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Maybe I can.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
So, you know Victoria talking about loving early small though
I like you love early Smable And my last armabile
mention is Heat the Heat Vision episode. Like if I
was gonna show someone like an example of what Smallville is,
like young Clark kid in high school dealing with his
powers and problems, this would be the episode I would
show them because this perfectly like encompasses, like early small
feel like it was a freak of the week. Kristin
(27:31):
Allen is a great guest star. She's easy on the eyes.
I'm not gonna lie that's part of the appeal.
Speaker 5 (27:36):
Yeah, Oh she's a babe.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
But it's very it's a very self aware episode too, Like,
that's that's the difference. You know, we talked about devoted
and like the thirstiness of season four versus like earlier
in the show. It's a different flavor.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
It's a different brand of thirst. Also, I just it
just occurred to me, is this like the only time
we ever see Clark in a class in high school?
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Yes? Right, and even then it's like the biology class,
so it's like a high table.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Yeah, he's at a lab table, not an actual classes.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
A gym class or that. That's the only time you
see him. This episode is a lot of fun, and
that's something that I like Small early Small before you
and you had to have fun. Uh you know they
play the little Less Conversation Elvige remix when he's testing me.
He vision I love, like, well.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Yeah, perfect, See I love things media that has like
the perfect song choice for the perfect moment, and that
was definitely an example of that.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
The music not to be like punny, but the soundtrack
or like the playlist on that episode was literal fire
because you also had hot in here, like when it
was like having its moment and you're like.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
So on the nose, but I loved it.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
That was the that was the heyday of hot. Yeah,
like everybody was.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
Bumping there and it was on Smallville and you're just like,
and it was perfect because it's the huge episode and
there's heat vision but he's hot because she's so hot,
and you're like, this is perfect.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Exactly. So I have to ring because yeah, it's it's
really small level. There's a freaking week and stuff, but
the like stuff is good, you know, I just I
just love all of it.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
But and also the freak of the week is doing something.
It's like, the freak of the Week isn't just something
for Clark to defeat. This is how he discovers heat
vision and it works, and it works for the character,
and then it becomes part of like the small volcanon
and we see it with multiple characters, like if they
ever get like Clark's powers that like being attracted to
someone Tricker's heat vision.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
I like that too. I mean the whole purity aspect
of it all, you know, and people like, oh, he's
getting horny when he did, Like I don't, it's that,
you know whatever, like that.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
It's also like smart, like Clark is a human or
not humans, excuse me, but he's like a regular in
this aspect, he's a regular teenage boy, and I like
seeing Clark being a teenage boy.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
The Superman legend begins in a place called small Bill.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
You ever feel like your life was supposed to be
something different?
Speaker 4 (29:53):
Secrets?
Speaker 1 (29:53):
I don't want any record that I was.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
Here, loyalty, I never bet against Clark Kenton, betrayal.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
What do you want the world?
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Missus Kent destiny?
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Maybe it's the time I stopped running from who I
really am.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Now you can own every Action ten episode too, are you?
Plus number before seen? Bonus features small Own seasons one
through five on DVD.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
So those are our honorable mentions. Unfortunately, because they're mentioning
them here, guys, none of them made the top ten list.
I'm sorry, sorry to break the bad. So after that,
I figured we talked about the top five real quick
last ones that are left over. If we were gonna
rank them all, right, this would be eleven to fifteen on.
Speaker 5 (30:38):
The list the top ten, right, Okay.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
So number fifteen was Kn't, which we kind of talked about.
I love that one as well. That was actually on
my top ten list. I love this is like one
of my favorite scenes of small Ball. The literally almost
of me cry. I did cry during Fracture, like multiple times.
But you didn't, like Victoria.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
You told me, I'm sure you have no.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Hearts and no soul, but that's okay, You're cool, but.
Speaker 5 (31:04):
They needed a female voice for the round table.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
I am oh, anyway, moving on for bet.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
No.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
But when when when Clark sees Jonathan right and at
the end he's like, you didn't have powers, but he
telted me right from wrong and you were my hero
and I lost. I'm like, oh my god, I can't
stop crying. And then he gets like sucked away from
him right, he's gonna hug him, you know, like, oh,
that was like the best he like because if this
whole show has been out something, it's about family and
fathers and sons. And to have to bring back John
Snyder and Jonathan and season ten like this, which was
(31:39):
so perfect for the show, and that that scene alone
like elevates it to you know, my list And I'm
very glad that that the listeners agree and that's one
of their top episodes. What did you guys think?
Speaker 5 (31:50):
I just think you summed it up perfectly. And all
I can say is all the fields. It's just all
the fields.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Yeah, well, yeah, that scene definitely pulls at your heart
strings and like it makes you think, it makes you
root for them. It's just a great TV moment, yeah,
for sure.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
And you know, altering universe stuff, as we all said,
is always fun. And Ed Clark gets to play Evil
Clark or Tom Willing gets to play Clark Luther, and
he's always best when he plays evil. So that was fifteen. Now,
if we're talking to you know, I'll just call this fourteen, right,
because this is base on all the percentages and all
that stuff. So Run his number fourteen right, season four
(32:25):
episode Victoria seems very happy that Run is on here front,
So tell us about Run. Why do you love Run
so much? Victorian?
Speaker 5 (32:31):
So good? That's a very in depth analysis.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Brilliant, brilliant analysis. No, I think it's totally good, y'all.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
It's be good. No, I think because I just know
when you try to as someone who loves all sorts
of superhero things, sometimes when you try to introduce other characters,
they just it doesn't gibe. Then it doesn't feel organic.
But introducing Bart was just so well done, and he
(32:59):
was such an interesting, enjoyable foil to Clark and kind
of again challenged Clark in a really interesting way. And
I remember listening to the episode you guys did on
it and was like trying not to fangirl out at
the gym when I forget your lovely guest name, but
when he was like, yeah, Kyle wanted to be here,
and I was like, you shut up the flashom self,
(33:20):
because I trust.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
That was John Brody, guess and he's friends with Kyle Gallener.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
Yeah no, because I also that was the first other
superhero that we or you know, Justice League member, we
saw Clark interact with, and because it was such a success,
if Ron hadn't worked, there'd be no Justice, no Legends,
no absolute justice. And I yeah, it was just.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
No aqua, no aqua.
Speaker 5 (33:43):
I mean it got to spin off pilot, It got
to spin off pilot, and now Akaman's made like two
billion dollars. So yeah, no, I just I think it's
a brilliantly written episode. It's a brilliantly acted and shot
and executed episode. And since I'm like the weird music
lover on Smallville, that end scene because I even though
(34:05):
I lived in North Carolina for eight years, I do
not like country music, but that end scene to Rascal Flats.
Feels like today is just again iconique. It is not iconic.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
It feels like to do it's so good.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
And Clark's like wearing like a nice Clark's wearing like
a nice shirt, like for once in his life. It's
not the jacket and the T shirt. He's wearing like
this really nice blue long sleeve shirt and like, and
it's great. I just feel like that you get your
arc with spettac Holme Kyle. I'm also really afraid of
calling him Barry because of the New Flash. You get
(34:37):
your arc with. I also don't think the New Flash
would have happened without this. If this episode's oh successful,
you get your arc with Bart and then but they
do such a good job of leaving the door open,
and then they do such a good job of reincorporating everyone.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
So you mentioned this is a brief aside the country music,
I think the most out of place song in Smallville
is kid Rock at the end of Whisper.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
Do you agree, Sure, it's been a minute, but I
don't think rock is any place on my.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Small what uh? How about the song? It's like wait, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no no, that's a don't do too much of it anyway,
But anyway, here you go. Run is huge, cold and empty,
(35:27):
Cold and empty, that's what it is. Sorry my song cool.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Glad you figured that out? Yeah, but no, you're right.
Run is huge, And you're also right again in that, like,
we wouldn't have the the Arrow Verse really without if
Run was not successful. Clark not only gets like a
like an interesting foil in this episode. He doesn't meet
like another super who doesn't have who has powers that
(35:50):
are not related to Kryptonite, but like he gets a
brother for the first time, you know, like he was
friends with Pete's friends with Lex, but this is this
is a different type of bond that he has with Bart.
It's more of a fraternity type of bond that he
gains with him. And that's something that leads into the
Justice League, because the Justice League is just a big
old fraternity and so and that's one of the things
(36:11):
that I find the most interesting about like these superheroes
and their characters is like the it's the other interactions
that they have with each other, and this sets that
up at the very beginning. It's also just a really
good episode. Really, it's really well made and kudos to
Kyle Conner because he knocks the roll out of the park.
So Ron's a great episode, and I'm not shocked that
it made a list of some kind here.
Speaker 5 (36:33):
You know, I've shocked it's not on the top ten. Honestly,
it's that it's an honorable mention.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
There's just so many good episodes of Small though. You know,
there are a couple on the top ten list, and
we'll get to it, but I would gladly switch out
for Run, and I'm disappointing you listeners. No, I'm just kidding.
It's interesting to see these lists and see the votes
and say, oh, I guess we all have different preferences
right from our episodes. But for Run, you know, I
did a whole episode about it, so you guys know
what I think. But I think you know, most importantly
(36:59):
of it, it was a cool Superman being Superman even
at the young age, Like he brings us sense of
morality and guidance and leadership around other people.
Speaker 5 (37:07):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
And he kind of takes Bart under his wings, like, hey,
you can't just be doing this like stealing stuff. He's like,
why is because this is right and there's wrong and
that's what Superman needs to be. It needs to be
like a moral example for people to live up to.
Moving on to number thirteen, I was very, very very
happy to see this on the list. Tempest is an honor.
I'll mention I love Tempest. It's my second favorite season
finale after Salvation, I guess again. Being the Clerkship where
(37:30):
I am is like the height of Clark C H
L A r K.
Speaker 5 (37:34):
Yeah, this is when, like you honestly thought it was,
it might have happened like you they really like this was. Yeah,
it was then nour and never moment and I'm so
sorry it was never for you.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
But the whole season one it was episodic. There wasn't
like an arc or anything. But there were lots of
subplots the season one. There was the Luther Court plant.
There was Roger Nixon investigating things. There was the piece
of the spaceship doctor Hamilton found right. There was you know,
Cholee and Clark a lot and that whole triangle going
on Whitney it's leaving right. So it's like all these
things and they all they all come to a head
perfectly in this in this season finale, Like this is
(38:07):
what season finale should be. You kind of weave together
all these plot threads that have been dangling all these
individual episodes, and and you just pay them off, you know,
and they're great. And even though there's no such thing
as a spring formal as far as I know, uh, underclassmen,
because because I feel like they're like, what did you
do in high school? I don't know what to prom
crap the freshman spring formal? Right, I don't know. I'm
(38:27):
sure in some I don't know. Is there a spring fola?
Speaker 5 (38:29):
Victoria seems like I went to a spring formal, but.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Well, I'm sure you were invited to yours. I was not.
Speaker 5 (38:34):
I excuse me. I asked junior and senior year. I
asked my prom dates to prom. There were no no,
Well because there were also no takers, so uh yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
I went to prom stag anyway, so that the spring
formal was a great, just like a high school fate.
And that's why I liked about early small but like,
I want to see Superman in high school doing high
school things, not necessarily playing football. Well, we talked about that, Victoria,
so I'm more.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
So I feel like we're so cool.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
And then finally, the natural disaster of it all a tornado. Right,
that's cool because like Superman, like you know, that's that's
a force of nature. So how does he even fight that?
And and it's gonna be so cool when the tornado
goes away and Clark's fly and he's holding the truck
Like I was so naive back in season one to
think that he was gonna fly then, right, and I
could have died right there, so he felt like he
(39:27):
was flying. He's you know, floating towards the truck. Right,
But that could have been a series finale, right because
you had Lionel. Le's gonna let Lionel die. The ship
could opened up and said hey, I'm Darrell, right instead
of getting hit by lightning. The beasts come out in
the next episode. So uh, Fortex is a good episode,
but Tempest was so great. Fortex was a little bit
of a disappointment after it. So anyway, that's Tempest.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Yeah. Tempest like really encapsulates like early Smallville, like almost
to a tea. It's like you got high school stuff.
You have a dance, you have Lex helping Clark get
ready for formal events and stuff. It's just like you know,
Legs being that older, cooler friend for Clark, and you know,
the natural disaster aspect, and I think is a great
I guess antagonist for young Clark at this stage, Like
(40:10):
he doesn't have an arch enemy yet, he's just you know,
he's just a freshman. So what better thing for Superman
to confront than a natural disaster something that only Superman
can kind of take on. It kind of reminds me
of Superman for all seasons where he's kind of fighting
the flood and like you know, helping the town through that.
That's kind of what it makes me think of, especially now.
But like that's I think that's that was a good
(40:31):
choice to go with for the season finale and everything
just all the all the plot threads just kind of
like merge and meet at where they're supposed to, and
it's it's just good TV.
Speaker 5 (40:41):
You're forgetting the most important aspect, which was Remy Zero
playing at the school dance.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Oh she's right, She's right. That is that not the
most meta thing of all time?
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Remy Zero?
Speaker 5 (40:54):
Love it, like again iconic, But I also think you
guys are touching on something really import into with this
whole man versus nature thing, Like that's a classic archetype
of storytelling and conflict, and I think it was so
satisfying to see something we've seen so many times, that
the character we've seen in so many different ways, and
to have it come together in a way that felt
(41:15):
really fresh and entertaining.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Absolutely, and they never did it again. No, So number
twelve guys getting close to the end of our honorable mentions. Insurgents. Now,
this was an episode that could have gone either way.
I got a lot of people ranking above their top episodes.
I do. I think it's a great episode. It's our
first look at Metropolis, that kind of thing, so it's
it's really close to the top ten. It just got
edged out with buy some other ones, and I think
(41:38):
this was This was a great episode. This is probably
Martha's best episode to that a crusade, I don't know,
but because she is the most to do here. I
love this subplot that gets totally dropped after this, where
she's gonna work for Lionel Luther and we see that
inside the safe and the Kryptni There's so much mythology
and mystery here about around Lionel Luther, like is he
really blind? How do you shoot that guy? Like I
don't know? And we meet Maggie Sawyer for the first time,
(41:59):
and she pops up several times down the road in
the series, so lots of universe building here. He jumps
from the top of the Daily Planet. Like you know,
I've edited many small Ville trailers in my time, and
I always use the shadow Clark on the roof for
the Daily Planet. So yeah, I mean, just a great episode.
And then the Jonathan Lex stuff here is great as well.
Just it's a very adult episode, and I think the
only reason I didn't give it an A plus was
because that Lona Henry Small plot was really could have
(42:21):
done about. But anyway, Lance, what did you think of Insurgents?
Speaker 1 (42:24):
The main thing that stands out about this episode is
the leap between tall buildings in a single bound. You
get to see air Clark and it's just at at
that time, it's just like, this is amazing. We get
to see how powerful Clark is, because, like I think
one of the things that Smallville does really well is
like the scope of how powerful Clark is compared to
everybody else, and how and how powerful Superman is, and
(42:46):
you get it in little little spurts and little doses,
like in the beginning, you know, when he puts his
arm through the compactor, you get to see this like,
oh well, yeah, like nobody could survive that. And then
you know, you know, later on, you know, you get
you know, the heat vision develops and then here like
you're doing stuff that nobody else can do, and then
it just exponentially. His power gets greater as time goes on.
(43:07):
But in the early days when he could just run
really fast and he was really strong, you see this
and you're just like, whoa, that's pretty amazing.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (43:15):
Something also that I love about the jump because I
feel like the jump is the moment that everyone remembers.
When you said insurgents, it took me a second, like
which one is that? Like it feels like a season
two like it's the jump, It's the episode with the jump.
And I think it's so iconic too, because my little
like type A canon heart also loves that because in
the original Superman comics when he was when that character
(43:38):
was introduced, he couldn't fly either. He could only leap
tall buildings in a single bound. So I love that
parallel that we see it on small Vell that Clark
is originally just leaping tall buildings in a single bound
it's like he's doing what we want or kind of
like the path that we all know and love, but
we get to see it in this whole new light.
(43:59):
And even though this episode is kind of fuzzy for me,
I just remember viscerally. I think it was probably because
I still have this feeling of tension, and I think
it was just a brilliantly written episode because you know,
at the end of the day, Clark's going to fix
it and he's going to come in and save the day.
But I feel like this was an episode where you
really went on a journey getting there, and there were
(44:21):
moments where you're like, oh, wait, what's going to happen?
And then on and whenever you can have some really
really good, juicy stuff with Lionel and Lax, the better
because they're just world class actors.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
Absolutely a great episode, but I really, again, I could
have done without the Henry Small and hey moving on
to our number eleven or final honorable mention And I'll
do a recap when we're done here, because even I
don't remember what they are now. If I was looking
the Peeces ppaper from season three, this is the episode
where Michael rosenmom has a tour de force performance. Relex
goes down the rabbit hole of insanity and like, seriously,
(44:56):
like all jokes aside. I know this is a genre
TV show on the WB right, but micro rosemom Relation
has been nominated for Emmy for this episode because he
was amazing on his performance alone. It works, but is
a really well crafted, tight story and you can kind
of like you kind of do a question if like
he really is crazy for about half of it. The
last thing I'll say though, and then I'll pass off
with you. Victoria is like this is one of the rare,
(45:17):
rare times where like here glastic surgery. It looks like
somebody else, it actually worked for me. I believe that
the new Morgan edge was the old Morgan edge. So
so kudos to Patrick Berg and there to kind of
channel Rucker Hower.
Speaker 5 (45:28):
Yeah for sure.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (45:29):
I always love when you can see Michael do his
thing and really sink his teeth into a storyline because
you feel like he's so underused. And then again, I'm
a little fuzzy, but is this the first time we
also see Belle Reeve?
Speaker 1 (45:44):
H Yes it is.
Speaker 5 (45:45):
Yeah, so that's exciting and like getting again getting because
I feel like everyone like they're like yeah, or it's
always at the end of the episode, I'm like, what
are we going to do with them? I'm like, well,
just strip on a bell reef. So it's nice. It
was nice to get into that new location and again
expand the universe more. And oh my god, I had
another thought that's on the tip of my tongue.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
Johnny Cash is hurt at the end of this one
as well.
Speaker 5 (46:07):
Oh, I you know, I don't know if it's been
apparent yet, but I love a good song in small film.
Speaker 1 (46:14):
Oh yeah, again, this is another example of appropriate song
choice for appropriate time, Like, yes, they killed it with that.
It's great.
Speaker 5 (46:21):
Yes, And I also, oh, this is what I was
trying to say. I also think I because I was
just listening to the Spell episode and it's like, if
you got possessed by like a demon witch, like that
would do damage to you, like mentally, like I would
need so much therapy. So and I feel like, you know,
because these are characters on a genre TV show, like
all this crazy stuff happens to him, and you know,
(46:43):
they kind of reset for the next week, or you
know it only like Chips the Armor a little bit
and they keep going and going and going, and so
I think the great thing about this episode is we
really took time to let everything affect a Lex and
then since Michael's such a great actor, it was a
joy to watch.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
You know, Michael is the hero of this of this episode,
Like he is the hero of the story. Like he
his performance you're right, like was Emmy worthy, Like it's
I don't see anybody else pulling that off. And this
is this is the reason why he's the best Lex Luthor,
because like he just he just owns every second of
(47:24):
that and like he went full on in this episode,
really sold it. You're right, Like you questioned if he
actually is crazy and you don't know what's going on.
It's just it's a well done episode. He's perfect in
it and like him alone puts like elevates it to
where it should be.
Speaker 5 (47:39):
Well also because you could believe, like again, after all
the crazy stuff that happens in small well, you could
buy that, Yeah, that would drive someone crazy. So for
them to actually acknowledge it and play with it for
an episode with one of their strongest actors was again
so satisfying.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
And you know they're still teasing of the whole Julian
backstory here and you're like, oh, did the line will
make up that he was crazy? Like, no, he does
have a history of mental illness, you know about you know,
based off you know, having going you know, going to
a deep dark place after his brother died. So and
you find out why later on the season, which again
which this is this is a crucial like pillar of
season three, this episode, and and in mid season finale
(48:15):
as well. So these SMAMA really does mid season finales
very well. One didn't have one skin walker. Yeah, they
did play mad World at the end my Gurry jewels
and I love that song shattered. Season four doesn't really
have one like scare. It was like it doesn't really, Yeah,
it doesn't really have one.
Speaker 5 (48:32):
Five was is it almost like lex Smiths. I think
it was Lexmiths.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
It is like lexim is the last one? Okay? Cool?
Speaker 5 (48:39):
Yeah, Well, I just because I remember season four or
no no, season five, so well, like that period is
like when I'm like my sharpest of Smallville. Yeah, because
I remember, because like that they would do the hiatus
over January and come back in February, and that was
a Christmas episode, so it was like end of December
or December, so then they would have gone on hiatus.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
Yeah, so Ride for example, or you already talking about
it so great mid season finales by small so to
recap your honor were mentions, you know, fifteen to eleven,
Kent fifteen, Run fourteen, Tempest thirteen, Insurgents twelve, and Shattered eleven. So, guys,
I'll ask you, what is one episode you really hope
is on the top ten list and if it's not,
(49:16):
you're gonna be really disappointed. What about you, Victoria.
Speaker 5 (49:21):
Rosetta, Okay, that was the first one that came in mind.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Good. I think I feel like you're pretty safe with
that one. Uh, I'm not. I'm not gonna spoil it,
but I think it's pretty sad to say, Rosette, it's
gonna be other so you should be happy. What about
your lance.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
I'm hoping the pilot.
Speaker 5 (49:35):
Is there or metamorphosis because we've agreed that there it's
the same thing.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
Yeah, exactly exactly, but yeah, I'm hoping that's there.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
You know in the Canadian DVD was it they came
out together? So yeah, it's it's you know, Smallville the movie, right,
So yeah, so there you go. Guys. Uh, that was
the funt do you, Zach?
Speaker 5 (49:51):
You didn't tell all?
Speaker 2 (49:52):
Oh yeah, well I know the list, so I know.
Speaker 5 (49:55):
Oh yeah, okay, well you know what, just kidding.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
I would be very disappointed if my favorite episode wasn't
on there. Okay, but is it? Is it not?
Speaker 1 (50:07):
I'll be mad if mine's not on there. But I
have I have a strong, you know, feeling that I
won't be disappointed by that.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Oh oh this is something, this is. This reminds me.
So so let me tell you, guys, a couple episodes.
You might be surprised that got any votes at all. Oh,
they kind of they kind of surprised me.
Speaker 5 (50:23):
And if it's Hero, I will ryot no.
Speaker 2 (50:27):
Hero Hero got no points uh or votes? I should
say Jinks got a couple of votes.
Speaker 5 (50:34):
I no, I buy that because it's a Superman villain.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
Which revisiting it, I actually liked it, but I was
surprised someone. I mean, these are the top ten less
people like this is serious business, Okay, so let's get real.
Let's see legacy people like that was the second Christopher
Eve one. It only got a couple of votes, Like.
Speaker 5 (50:50):
For a long time, I got that because it's Christopher,
but it.
Speaker 2 (50:52):
Only got a couple votes, which ever shocked like and
they came in kind of late too. It was like,
oh poor Legacy, Lockdown, no panic room the episode.
Speaker 5 (51:00):
Really okay, that's a note for me, dog.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
That was a random one. Promise was on there. But
I know people like their Likexana, Like, why would you
vote for Promise because they like Lexana?
Speaker 5 (51:12):
Because they like Lexana. They to be happy.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
You could be happy, No, you are.
Speaker 5 (51:20):
Yeah. It's also like a major turning point in the show.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
True. Nor got one vote from somebody the Black and
White episode. Yeah, Noir nor is it was I did
I say?
Speaker 1 (51:33):
Yeah, Nor is an o r E.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
I think anyway should not have gotten any votes. I'm
sorry you voted for Nor. Uh.
Speaker 5 (51:42):
That's so like we're running out of ideas on this time.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
That is like such a like it's such a Lewis
and Clark kind of likes a. Clark literally did an
episode like that in the first season. So Archic got
a vote disappointing season finale.
Speaker 5 (51:54):
But in the season finale, so I get it.
Speaker 2 (51:56):
Yeah, and it's an important episode. I mean's the last one.
Mike Rosama the Fortress and all that stuff. So Doomsday
got some votes. So whatever. Here's one that really surprised me.
Got any votes. Stiletto.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
Ooh Stiletto. See it's not a good episode, but I
love that episode.
Speaker 5 (52:13):
So all I can say is that, like when I
was making this list, I would have to stop myself
and be like, do you love this episode because it's
good or do you love it because Tom Owlling's partially
naked in it? And so like I understand the other
inverse of people who like ladies, They're like, do I
like this episode because this is a good episode, or
(52:34):
do I like this episode because Erica Durants looks smoking hot?
Speaker 2 (52:38):
Speaking of exposed got some votes. I was surprived. Maybe
some Dukes and Hazard fans, maybe Smercan Rants fans. I
don't know. It can go either way. Let's see Fortune.
I don't like that one, the Hangover episode. So there
you go. Those are some fun episode. Skinwalker gotta vote
as well, everyone Skinwalker.
Speaker 5 (52:58):
So yeah, because yeah, we discussed this.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
Yes, so Gary jeweles Mad World Indeed.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
New one, blue ray and DVD. This is where it's
all been leading you will become. It's the greatest saving
more than two hours of special features. The final season
of Small Vale on blue ray and DVD November twenty nine,
and on the complete series collection on DVD.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
Well, there you have it, folks. To recap the top
five honorable mentions the number fifteen to eleven, if you will,
of top ten episodes of Smallville as voted by you,
The listeners are number fifteen, Kent, number fourteen, Run, number thirteen, Tempest,
number twelve Insurgents, and number eleven Shattered. And also to
(53:43):
recap how did the season's rank? How did seasons one
through ten all rank? Well, number ten was season seven,
Number nine was season eight. Number eight was season one.
That one hurts me, honestly, Number seven with season nine,
that one also hurts me. Number six was season six.
(54:05):
Number five was season five. Number four was season three.
Number three was season two. Number two was season four
that also hurts me.
Speaker 6 (54:17):
And number one was season ten, which, as we talked about,
you know, there was a lot of hype for season ten,
and as critical as I have been about the series
finale and a lot.
Speaker 2 (54:28):
Of Season ten, a lot of people loved it. And
that's what's so interesting about doing these conversations and votes
and lists and tabulations, because everybody's opinions are different and
that's gonna be part of the fun going down this
top ten list of episodes, So stay tuned next week
to find out which episode is the number ten episode
(54:50):
