El MVZ Edgar Islas, explica el origen de las tres fechas del año en las que se les celebra: 20 de febrero, 8 de agosto y 29 de octubre. Del 2018 al 2025 ha aumentado la tenencia de gatos en un 41%, dice el MVZ Islas, por lo que se perfilan para ser la mascota del futuro. Además, habla del problema de la obesidad, cuál es la correcta alimentación, lo que no debemos darles de comer y la importancia del agua en su dieta. Los colores de los gatos tienen que ver con sus bases genéticas. El MVZ Miguel Sierra, explica que es el hombre quien ha establecido las razas felinas. A través de los cromosomas se transmiten las cualidades de los felinos. Los colores básicos son el negro, rojo o naranja, café y blanco, de ahí se deriva la variedad de colores y combinaciones. También hay patrones como el atigrado, las manchas, los puntos. El MVZ Sierra, cuenta cómo en su experiencia el manejo de las hembras carey y tortuga resulta complicado. También el color de los ojos es importante, por ejemplo, no hay que cruzar a dos gatos de ojos azules porque sus cachorros podrían padecer sordera.
