En los humedales del Delta hay más de doscientas especies de aves. Entre ellas dos seriamente amenazadas: el playerito canela y el capuchino garganta café. Quedan pocos ejemplares de estas especies en todo el mundo. La destrucción de su hábitat las dejaría al borde del peligro de extinción.
