Diana, Farah and Meredith catch up with Dr. Kamala Parel-Nuttall. Kamala is a writer, educator, and filmmaker. Her latest film "Gandhi's Threads" was inspired by a paper written by her father, a professor. The film traces the evolution of Gandhi's clothing choices and Gandhi's impact on the fashion sustainability movement.
Pairing a doctorate in Religious Studies (University of Cambridge, UK) with hands on training in documentary filmmaking (Maine Media College, USA), Kamala has created visually compelling ways to bring those stories to life. She taught at the university level, conducted research, and published articles in her area of expertise for 15 years before focusing her energies solely on documentary film projects. Through her production company Floating Lotus Films, Ltd. Kamala has produced and directed films for nonprofit and for profit organizations, and has written and directed several short documentaries.
