Speaker 2 (03:40):
Well, if all of you, if all of you may
have not known Tony Gaskin is definitely He's a successful
role model, husband, father, author, like I said, life relationship coach,
motivational speaker, and a filmmaker. Tony is here today to
share his story. Tony has been from the bottom and
has took it to the top. A story that you

(04:01):
guys want to hear, A story that a lot of
people you know, in these times are trying to, you know,
figure out, Hey, I'm here today. You know, what are
some of the motivational, inspirational stories that I can hear
to make sure that I get to that next level
of this is the guy you want to talk to
and hear his story. So Tony, you go ahead and
I'm going to turn it over to you. Go ahead
and let them know who Tony Gaskin.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Is well right now. Like you said, I am a
life and relationship coach, also an author, working in TV
and film, also producing my first TV show this year
and also the film of my life that was picked
up by a production company.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Out of LA and regulations.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Thank you, thank you. But where I come from something
totally different. I mean it was it was just about
three and a half years ago that I was a
drug dealer, just caught up in the streets searching for myself.
A couple of years before that, I was you know,
lost in a relationship, toxic relationship, abusive relationship, controlling, domineering boyfriend,

(05:14):
just lost and confused. And around the age twenty three,
you know, I just really had a wake up call.
Everything that I was seeking for in life, as far
as you know, success and status, you know, put it
in cars and rems and you know, material things. I
was robbed. I didn't have my focus on God and
my wife and my child, and so the things that

(05:36):
I put my heart in, you know, God allowed me
to lose those things. And then I finally woke up.
After several several you know, wake up calls, I finally
paid attention to this one. You know, after having being
kicked out of college and you know, all of those
different trials and tribulations in life, I finally decided that

(05:58):
it was time for me to to stop running from
my call, stop running from my purpose. And so I
turned over a new leaf. And I've just been a
serving every since, just kind of right, turn my mess
into a message, right right right.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
And you know a lot of people they they you know,
some people don't understand what purpose driven means, to explain
to them why it's important to have a purpose build life.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Well, I feel like, you know, you need something to
live for, something that's bigger than you. You know, it's
it's not enough to just go to work and make
a paycheck and come home trying to just provide, but
to serve a purpose, you know, to leave a legacy,
to be more than just a social Security number. And

(06:48):
it motivates you, you know, it motivates you from the
inside when you know that you can give back to
the world and that even after you're gone, your name
can live on, you know, because you gave with yourself.
And like Martin Luther King said, anybody can be great
because anybody can serve. And a lot of times we
don't realize that it's just that simple, just being of
servicing and given from your art.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Right right right now, I was on your on your
web page or your site today for everybody that you
don't know, that don't know, and you can go to
Tony Gaskin dot com and it's Tony's direct site to
follow him. You can even order his books on that
site also. But you have a quote on here you

(07:32):
did about it about an hour ago to here. You know,
you're a tweeter, uh and says you can walk with
turkeys or you can soar with egos. It's your choice.
I mean, you are a guy of quotes. I mean,
where do you get this stuff? I mean the meditran.
I mean your quote is just inspiring to me. And
this is actually one of my favorite quotes. It kind
of connects to one of another favorite quote that I like,

(07:54):
which is about the four birds, the turkey, the crow.
I know you know that one. So I mean, just
how do you come up with it and inspire people
to follow you? With these quotes that you come up with.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Well, most of them, I'm analyzing life, you know, I'm
just looking at the situation and I just put it
to words. You know, God gave me a gift away
with words, and that was you know, I had that
since I was in elementary school. And so I just
finally that was a part of me changing my life.
I just decided I would use my God given gifts,

(08:28):
you know, to inspire people and to you know, tell
a story. And so with the quotes, I'm just analyzing life.
A lot of times it just happened, you know, in
front of me, or you know, I was reading something
and that's the lesson that I drew from it. And
either that or it's a folk that I've heard someone else,
you know, say, and I'll you know, I put it
in quotation Marx and just share it with the people.

(08:50):
And so yeah, it's just you know, it's just responding
to life.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
And I don't know, well, I love them. I love them,
I mean keeping and it's wonderful and absolutely inspiring. I'm
a personal quotes too. Just you know, I'm an avid
reader and you know I enjoy you know, hearing quotes
quick and easy, you know, with us being busy per people,
it's very inspiring when you're on the go. Now you

(09:16):
know it's coming, Tony, you know it's coming. You were
invited to go on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Tyra Banks.
We want to hear about that experience and how did
that come about. I mean, we know how exceptional you are,
but we want to hear it from Tony. I mean,
that is just awesome coming from you know, being where
you were, to being on Oprah entire. I mean, that
is such huge accomplishments to share that story with us.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Right, Well, basically it was just me, you know, having
desire to you know, just minister through my story. So
having been a no good man, you know, and just
a lost individual. And you know, after I found myself,
I wanted to help others find themselves. So I just
I reached out, you know, I was pitching to the

(10:02):
Oprah doing my own you know, version of pr to
the Oprah Show and Tyra Banks Show and seven hundred Club.
And in light of Chris Brown and Rihanna, you know,
I had a similar situation wasn't as bad, but at
the same time, it still was a domestic violent situation

(10:22):
when I was in college with my girlfriend, and I wanted,
you know, to tell that story and to explain that
side of being that lost young boy and how you
can become a man, and how women can come out
of those relationships or recognize you know, that behavior or
that a man is lost and he still needs time

(10:43):
to grow. And instead of being in a relationship with
and I reached out to Oprah and you know, they
called me like a week later and invited me to
the show. Tyra Banks follow up and introduced my book
to the world, and it was great.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
That must have been just exciting. I mean exciting. I'm
actually trying to work on some stuff, uh for a
client of mind too that actually have something very innovative
that she would be interested in Oprah'm speaking of. So
I'm hoping that, you know, everything goes well so that way,
you know, I can go into show. I told my client,

(11:21):
I said, hey, if you go on and I get
you there, I want you to do a tom cruise.
He's like that, I want you to jump up on
the couch. Just don't shake it all, but just jump
up on the couch because it's just such an accomplishment.
And that's one thing that I that I do admire
about you. You know, it came across funny on how
we met. You know, we met through your father, but

(11:43):
you know you, I've been following you for what like
going on two years now, and I mean every day
I see the new things that you're doing, and you're
absolutely inspiring to me. Now you have now get into
your book. That's what I want to talk about. What
Daddy has, your best selling book, What Daddy should have
told his little girl? Tell us a little bit a

(12:03):
bit about more about that book that people can hear,
so that way they can go ahead and get a
copy of that, because I haven't ordered my copy just yet,
but I will. But I'm hearing that it's an awesome book.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Well basically it's just a you know, a book from
the heart, and I'm giving away the game, just breaking
the guy code, you know, and just giving women the
secrets you know, to walk around inside of a man's mind.
And it's amazing how you know, I wrote the book
as a young man in my twenties, but you know,
all of the points that I hit are echoed in

(12:40):
people like Steve Harvey's book, and so it just kind
of goes to show that, you know, as men, we're
not all that different, and you know, a mature man
is a mature man, and that you can get that insight,
you know, if you're willing to hear it. And so
I just gave away the game, you know, just I
wrote it as if I was writing to my mother
and my sister with the hopes that women can read

(13:01):
it and you know, go in looking, you know, for
for answers and come out, you know, with those answers
and move forward.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Right right right. And you also say, you know, you
have a program on your site. Birk your book. Everyone
has a story to tell. That's something where me and
you because can act too, because I believe in the
same theory. Also, everyone has a story to tell, but
you actually can help individuals on telling their story. Tell

(13:36):
us a little bit more about Birk your book.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
That's just a that's a program I created. You've downloaded,
and it's you know, it's me talking for about an
hour and fifteen minutes just breaking down the whole industry
how to write a book, how to publish a book,
and I want to do that so everyone, even you know,
people you know living off twenty thousand dollars a year,
could you know, afforded. So that's why I made it

(14:02):
nineteen dollars. And I think it was just it was
much better than you know, my my consulting fees start
at seventy five dollars an hour, and the author consulting
at one point was twenty five hundred dollars, you know,
from A to z author consulting and you know, including
publishing and everything, and it's just, you know, not everyone
can afford that. So I made this this download that

(14:24):
several several books have been birthed from them. Just listening
to this hour download and then just you know, putting
those those tools and them steps into action, you know,
And so that's why I did it, so so everybody
can can write a book, because you know, that's all
I did, and it opened up all of these doors
that have me in a position getting ready to do

(14:46):
my own you know, TV show and movie of my
life and producing other shows where I be a coach,
and all of that stems from just first me writing
a book, and so right, I want everyth this story
to do that.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
All right, tell us more about the movie. I'm excited.
Tell you more about the movie. I know it's going
to be off the chain.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
It's just kind of it's gonna be kind of like
a Pursuit of happiness type film. Just showing how, you know,
going from being a path's son to you know, a
full scholarship athlete, to an abusive boyfriend to a criminal
drug dealer, organized pimp, all turned around, you know, did
a one eighty and now now a husband, you know,

(15:33):
a father, faithful husband, good father, celebrity life and relationship coach,
and world renowned speaker. So just showing how, you know,
how God works and how I was able to go
through all of those things and turn it around all
by the age of twenty six.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
And wow, definitely, I mean that's just amazing, amazing. Think
now you did say you do speaking uh seminars, those
are done. People can order those. Also, do your teleconferences
to your website or do you do actual You do
a lot of in person speaking engagements also, so for

(16:16):
those that want to know, tell us a little more
about that. And then your teleconferences that you also.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Have speaking I speak at a lot of events, a
lot of galas, uh, you know, fundraisers with foundations, and
a lot of colleges and churches. And so I'm people, anyone,
can you know book me to speak at book Tony
at Tony Gascon dot com. And and I love doing

(16:44):
that and I do that very often, normally at least
one engagement a week, and you know, sometimes take a
little break for a few weeks. And then my my teleconferences.
That is my love school. It's called for the Love
of Me, and I teach women on Wednesday night at
nine Eastern nine pm Eastern and men on Thursday night

(17:08):
at nine pm Eastern. And it's an eight week course.
And you know, I did that because not everyone can
afford life and relationship coaching, you know, and normally at
the minimum costs, you know, three hundred dollars a month
for one hour a week. And although I only charged
two hundred a month, I mean that's that's still expensive

(17:30):
for average people just you know, living off regular jobs.
So I created the for the love of me, so
men and women from all over the world can be
a part of it and really learn how to love
the right way, you know, in the beginning, you know,
learn learn how to start out fresh and build on
the firm foundation. And it's been awesome now just the

(17:53):
third It started twelve weeks and I went to eight
weeks and now it's eight weeks. So this is my
third semester and men and women from around the world literally,
you know, joint.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Uh, it's awesome right right, Yeah, I can only imagine.
I can only imagine. Well, we're gonna finish up this
conversation with Tony before we conclude for today, I'm gonna
take a quick break. We are in live chat bill
growenjoy dot com. Tony, you're a member. You will be

(18:25):
you had time to set up your profile. Did you
get it set up.

Speaker 3 (18:30):

Speaker 2 (18:35):

enjoy dot com site as a member, so you can
also send you know your questions email him directly if
he's not gonna have time to stay in the chat today.

and we will be right back.

(19:14):
The light and always remember that someone is sitting in
the shade today because someone planted a tree a long
time ago.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
And we are back. We are back in the studio today.
We have Tony Gaskin Junior Life Coach. We are in Bill,
we are in Chess, Bill grownjoy dot Com. I haven't
opened the lines of today because I really just want
Tony to really share his story which is so inspiring
to the many people out there that should really know

(19:51):
this story that and believed that, you know, you can
overcome anything, especially in these times. You know, I get
a lot of inquiries from people saying, you know, what
can I do? I've lost this, I don't have no hope. Well,
this is the person that can give you the hope
to let you know that things can turn around for
the better now, Tony. You know, of course, you know
it's not your forte or anything, but you know, I

(20:13):
promote the financial literacy because this is actually my purpose
in my calling. You know that I'm a financial planner
by trade, and I kind of was running from this,
you know, for a little bit, but you know, it
came back to me and it's just been, you know,
a success ever since I decided to launch it. And
in November, I mean we even have we've already been

(20:34):
pretty much working on a reality show for the Hustle
to the Boardroom to help launch businesses within the economy
to create jobs. So we're working on that and we're
about to start production on that. But you know, I
just want everyone to hear from you. You know, you
have that life experience, but I want you to tell
everyone how important it is to be financially literate, period

(20:58):
across the board. In addition to you know what you
are saying to everyone, the purpose driven life. But how
important it is to be financial lirics within your life.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Nah, I believe it's it's very I mean very important.
I've learned the hard way, you know, starting out in
college getting credit cards and getting turned upside down. I
didn't even know what a credit score was, you know,
I didn't understand that. So I'm like, man, you know,
they're giving me free money. And then you know, you're
renting cars, your hotels, you shopping, and then you know,

(21:34):
you look and say, wow, they only want me to
pay them back ten dollars a month. But then you
you hit a rough spot and you don't have a job,
and you know it's one month times into six months,
you know, and then the the interest is is going
up and the late fees are adding up, and before
you know it, you know the card is matched out
and where it was a you know, twenty five hundred

(21:56):
dollar card, now you owe four thousand, you know, and
you know and as soon as you got that one
in the mail, you know another one that's coming in
the mail. So you're using both of them, and you're
living off of them, paying rent and you know, and everything,
and uh, you know, one of Luther King once said that,
you know, we we buy what we want and beg

(22:17):
for what we need. And I find it so true.
So often, you know, we'll we'll we'll take and you know,
we'll buy new clothes and new shoes, and you know
we'll go out to eat, you know, the things we want,
but what we need, you know, whether it be life coaching,
you know, financial coaching, you know, things that can really

(22:38):
move our life forward and have real value and change
our life. You know, we want that for free. And
so I believe that it's very important and not only
as far as learning how to spend your money, but
you know, being in control of the money, you know,
I mean Blacks, we really African Americans, you know, we
we run, uh, we help feed the society. I mean,

(23:01):
we spend more money than any other race work beyond
what do we own, you know, So it's very important
that we you know, take money and we invest in
ourselves and we start small businesses and you know, we
build business and we take control of you know, some
of the some of the things that we spend so
much money on so that you know that money is coming,

(23:24):
you know, back to us. I feel it's very important.
And you know, in my summer camp that we're starting
up this this year three months three month program for
our young men, we're going to be teaching you know,
financial literacy because a lot of the guys want to
go and be you know, multi millionaire athletes, but we

(23:44):
want them to understand, you know, how to you know,
how to budget their money, you know, how to spend money,
and how to build business with that money. Right, Yeah,
that's that's that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
That it's awesome. We need a lot more of that.
Definitely the teaching the youths because that's the foundation and
where it starts, because yeah, it's amazing. You know the
things that these youths see on TV today, you know
the blink bling, and you know it's just you know,
it takes one to start telling and spreading the word
that is not about the blink thing. And you know,
one of my favorite things I like to say, it's

(24:19):
not how much money you make, it's how much money
you keep. So before we end today, Tony, can you
give us a quote. I'll give us a quote, I don't.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
I don't really have done, you.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Know, putting you on the spot right. Yeah, I'll let
your pass with this one man. But thank you, Tony,
thank you, thank you, thank you so much. It's always
a pleasure in talking to you. You know, like I said,

(24:54):
you're an inspiration. We are following you. We will be
on the lookout for your all your accomplishments, your movie.
Definitely want to see that coming. Is there anything else
you'd like to say? And conclusion to everyone before we
end today.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
Thank you, I thank you for having me and I
just want to inspire everyone to you know, birth your
book and and live a life of purpose, on purpose
and perfect.
