Well, I just got back from my second hunt of 2019 and, unfortunately, my New Mexico mule deer hunt did not go as well as my hunt up in Colorado at the beginning of October. Even so, I still had a nice trip, saw a lot of wildlife, and I learned some more valuable lessons that I’m happy to share with you.

I don’t know if you heard or not, but the hunting community is facing some serious problems associated with a severe long term decline in hunter numbers. The bad news is that this is related to some demographic challenges that will very likely get worse if we don’t do something about it. However, the good news is that there are some great programs out there to help combat and hopefully, reverse this decline in hunter numbers.  Read more

With the start of hunting season, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about how to glass for game. Proper glassing techniques will help you on virtually any big game hunt, but this is an especially important skill on the pronghorn, mule deer, and coues deer hunts I’ll be on this year. I guarantee that on many hunts, there’s a lot of game out there you simply will not see, and therefore can’t hunt, if you don’t know how to ... Read more
