Episode 54 Rhett Thompson is headed back to the hospital to check on her Japanese Ma and remembers being so poor that she and her sister weren't allowed to be sick. Suicide was a cultural theme heard a lot growing up, but Rhett didn't have permission to kill herself. There was distance with most of her African-American father's side of the family after her parents divorced, but she remembers Great Aunt Rose, her dobermans, and the afro wig she gifted Ma.
