Brobdingnagian Bards Podcast

Brobdingnagian Bards Podcast

Scottish and Irish folk songs combined with the Lord of the Rings music and a wee bit o’Celtic fun. The Brobdingnagian Bards (pronounced brob-din-nahg-EE-en) were The Original Celtic Renaissance music duo from Austin, Texas. Their unique brand of folk music on the autoharp, recorder, and mandolin made them one of the most-popular Celtic music groups online where they continue to give away thousands of free Celtic MP3 downloads daily. From 1999 to 2008, the Brobdingnagian Bards performed coast-to-coast, and in a given month could be found at a Lord of the Rings Oscar Party, a Celtic festival, or a Science Fiction Convention. However, they were an absolute favorite at Renaissance Faires where they added high-energy and wit to make every show a memorable experience. Thanks in part to this podcast, their shows are never done!... Show More

Andrew narrowly won that competition. They are back next week with an all new challenge. Who will win this month?

Watch the Bog Off live on Wednesday, May 13 at 11 AM CST on the Bards Facebook page.

We are gearing up to launch a Kickstarter for our first studio album in over ten years. How do you stand out in a world where streaming rules? How do you get your music heard?

Years ago, we gave away all of our music on MP3.com. We're gonna do it again. You can now download all of our music for free on Bandcamp.

We're giving it away so that YOU have a compelling reason to talk about us on- and offline.

Brobdingnagian Bards are back for the 10th season of Sherwood Forest Faire. That means were are once again in the same vicinity of each other. That means craziness will ensue.

Andrew McKee is a little hoarse in this episode. That means Marc Gunn gets to make fun of him while Andrew's guard is down.

But it's not all goofiness. In fact, we make a big announcement. We're making a new album! You can learn the new album name...

2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the Brobdingnagian Bards. To celebrate this amazing milestone, we are releasing a LOT of cool new content every month. We have also made this podcast public once again.

Last year, we restarted the band through Patreon. We are creating all new music together. That hasn't been done since 2007. We wanted to give our kind members of the Nagians Only Club on Patreon, a special treat.

    However, we r...

Last year, this podcast became patron-only as part of the Nagians Only Club on Patreon. That is now changing!

You see, January marked the 20th anniversary of the Brobdingnagian Bards. It seemed a shame to hide all of this great content from Nagians around the world. So we asked them if we could make this podcast public once again. They resoundingly said, "YES!"

We are very pleased to share this show with you. Once a month, ...

We’re gonna step back in time to see how our first CD, “Marked By Great Size” came to be. You’ll hear never-before-told-stories about the how we rolled with the punches and made lemonade…figuratively speaking. Andrew and I are performing separately at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. We thought it would be nice to record a podcast. But people kept walking in on us. Our Top 5 movie theme was hijacked into a round table of wandering entertainers and a lot of fun.

As we prepare for our reunion show at Sherwood Forest Faire, wandering through the grounds, we record a podcast for the world to hear!

And our theme is: What you can do with worn out Bards CDs? When they’ve been listened to far too often, rendering them useless for further musical perusal? Here are our suggestions…

Here’s our improvised podcast while driving to DragonCon 2015!

The first question that raises it’s head is “What is the purpose of a podcast?”

In the past, we’ve done brainstorming, as well as just chatting about what’s going on with our lives. A behind-the-scenes tour, if you will – or a self-covering band!

So how do you create a podcast for a band that only meets once or twice a year? Do we just go for the general chatting about ...

Brobdingnagian Bards were officially invited to DragonCon this year. We’re already planning this year’s shows. One of which is a Sunday evening Hobbit Drinking Songs show. The show is currently scheduled for 10pm in the Augusta Ballroom in the Westin. Every year, we like to change things up, doing something new and exciting. Last year, we added a fun arrangement of “Seven Drunken Nights”, hobbit-style.

Let us start with apologies to everyone who got excited about yesterday’s April Fool’s joke. Yes, it was another bad joke brought to you by Brobdingnagian Bards. I don’t know if it was as bad as 2001 or 2002 when we told everyone we were breaking up the band… but it sounds like it was close. So our apologies. We are NOT reuniting, except at DragonCon.
