Welcome to the Builder of All Things Podcast—where we go beyond the pages of the book and explore into the Author’s Cut! 🔥 Join Richie Breaux and Ray Bisnar as they break down each chapter in micro-episodes, giving you the behind-the-scenes insights, deeper wisdom, and real-life applications—just like a Director’s Cut for a book.

Episode 3 of Chapter 7 takes the gloves off. We’re diving into real-life snake attacks — not physical ones, but deceptive, character-attacking, bait-filled schemes that aim to steal your peace, your focus, and your purpose.

🎙️ Richie shares a personal story about a client trying to publicly attack his character and even his marriage — and how he resisted the temptation to take the bait. The focus: truth over reaction, discernment over drama.

🐟 Key Themes We Break Down:
* How to recognize bait: The enemy studies you and tailors distractions just for you.
* Why truth is your starting point: Before reacting, ask “What’s true?”
* The danger of fighting in the dirt: When you respond in emotion, you’re fighting the snake on its terms.
* The enemy's #1 goal: Steal your perspective — because if he gets your lens, he gets your mission.
* What Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness teaches us: The devil’s tricks haven’t changed — he’s a “1-2-3” fighter with a predictable game plan.
* Why knowing the enemy’s patterns gives you power — in business, leadership, and life.

🔥 This episode is packed with practical wisdom for entrepreneurs, leaders, and anyone navigating conflict, slander, or personal attacks. Don’t let deception shift your focus. Don’t let bait knock you off your God-given course.

📖 Chapter 7 isn’t just about snakes — it’s about staying sharp, grounded, and elevated even when you’re under fire.

SPEAKER_01 (00:20):
Once you're able to categorize, okay, this is
attacking my character, whereare the truths in this?
This is not true.
You know, I think establishingtruths first.
Like, because that's what themain beta is and the and the
stirring of the pot isdeception.
And so when you look at thingsand say, hey, what's the truth
in this?
For example, I had a client thatwas trying to sabotage our

(00:43):
company.
And now clients have the rightto be upset, to be dissatisfied,
and to voice their concerns.
I'm not talking, that's not thesnake.
Don't go out there calling yourclient snakes because they're
not happy with bad work, youknow, or bad product.
You know, that's not snakes,man.
Like, okay, that's just we needto step up in excellence.

(01:06):
But this client was attacking mycharacter.
And when he was attacking mycharacter, I had to check
myself.
Did I misrepresent myself?
I have to be honest.
Or wait a minute, those aren'ttrue.

SPEAKER_00 (01:20):
Yeah, right?
That's good.

SPEAKER_01 (01:21):
So there, and then you can even tell, not only was
he attacking my character andlying in a lot of emails and and
social blast.
I put all this in the book.
He started coming at my wife, calling me a bad husband.
You don't know how I'm a husbandat home.
That's that's stepping over aline of poking at my my
character, my integrity, my andso I know the truths.

(01:42):
So the truths really are I'm agood husband.
These are this is what I, youknow, these are the things that
I do.
I did not lie, you know, and sowhen we're able to establish,
you know, the truths, and that'sthe first like stance of just
positioning ourselves ready forthis battle, yeah, is saying and
categorizing it too.

SPEAKER_00 (02:03):
Yeah, would you say that that's part of the bait?

SPEAKER_01 (02:06):
Oh man, the bait comes in all kinds of forms,
man.
And and I share this in one ofthe masterclasses, but the bait
is like it's deceptive.
So when you think about a realfisherman trying to bait fish,
it's creating false sense offood, yeah.
And it's putting it on waterlike it's really swimming.
Like the fish are like, oh,that's a live worm, you know?

(02:28):
But that what is what is itreally?
It's a bait.
It's a bait.
Yeah, it's the whole point ofbait is it's already deceptive
and it's trying to bait you.
So when you're going fishing, depending on the fish, you
choose your bait.
Right, right.
So the same thing with bait, there's so many, it depends on
who you are.
If I look at you, Ray, Ray, I'llsay, What kind of fish are you?
How will I get you to come tothe top of the surface to grab

(02:51):
my hook?
Right.
And so baits come in alldifferent ways.
If you're, you know, if you'rein securities about you and your
wife, you know, and certainthings, he's gonna try to uh
bring attacks in that area.
If you're a business owner andyou do certain things, he's he's
just gonna try to use the baitin so many different ways.

SPEAKER_00 (03:08):
I like one of the things you mentioned in the
opening portion of the bait, andthis this stood out to me a lot,
Richie, which was um, the enemywants to steal your perspective.
The first time I heard ofstealing your perspective,
that's insane.
That if you're hearing thisguys, that's I mean, we have to
kind of talk about that.
Like, what's what's stealingyour perspective?

SPEAKER_01 (03:27):
Yeah, so from a like a metaphorical view, imagine a
fish is on a mission and he'sswimming, and then the bait hits
the water at the top, itdistracts you, and you look up,
and then you're like, Oh, food.
Then basically, you just lostyour whole mission.
You just started swimming allthe way to the top, yeah.
And so the enemy, like thesnake, we'll keep referring him

(03:50):
to.
Like when I had that clienttrying to sabotage us through
email, he was trying to bait meto respond.
Yeah, he was trying to poke incertain areas where I wanted to
respond and and kind of snap, like bro, you know, you know,
like you know who like it's likeI felt a responsibility to
defend my character and respondwith passion to let him know

(04:13):
he's wrong, but then I'mfighting on on the dirt, you
know.
That's not how you fight thesnake, right?

SPEAKER_00 (04:19):
And I think the reason why I this this just
stood out to me so well, so big,was because I believe that in
this battle, your yourperspective is the your biggest
weapon.
And if you if they steal yoursword, it's an automatic L, bro.
And I think that's why it's soit stood out to me so much.

SPEAKER_01 (04:40):
Yeah, it's he's always at work trying to lure
you out of your purpose and getyou out of the stream any way he
can to get you out of the paththat God has you on, and that's
but he has still yourperspective, he has to give you
a different perspective that canoverattract the perspective you
have now.
He's gonna get so basically ifyou have a purpose and a vision,

(05:01):
and like we talk with the lens, you like this picture and your
focus.
Yeah, he's gonna try to turn thevibrant setting a little bit
more colorful, a little morelight.
He's gonna try to say, Hey, thisis prettier.
Yeah, you know, this come checkthis out.
This is nicer than that one.
And then try to make it look.
As soon as you look, boom, youknow, you just stole it.

(05:21):
You just stole your lens.
You got a new lens on now.

SPEAKER_00 (05:24):
Yeah, and it's terrifying to it's terrifying to
know that you could, I don't saylose, but you can get your
weight lost or or stolen justlike that.

SPEAKER_01 (05:34):
Just like that, bro.
Yeah, just like that.
And that's that's his job allday, all night.
Oh man, that's true.
He's constantly at work, man.

SPEAKER_00 (05:42):
We talk about you mentioned that the snake shows
up in Genesis in Adam and Eve,and there's another portion in
there.
We talk about the snakeappearing to Jesus in the while
he's uh fasting.
And I think the thing that stoodout to me in that portion was
that you know, the snake beingthe snake and knowing just how

(06:03):
conniving he is, and and heknows all these things, right?
And for him to come at the righttime at the right place, meaning
in that story where Jesus isfasting and he comes at like the
latest time where he's hungryand he's so to speak vulnerable,
right?
Can you talk about the snakeappearing in that uh story?

SPEAKER_01 (06:22):
Well, yeah, I think what I wanted to show, and a lot
of business owners, we can moveinto successful paths.
Number one, with God, of course, but we recognize patterns.
So, what what happens in thescripture when the snake
appears, I recognize oh, he hasthe same pattern.

(06:43):
And so when we look at hisapproach with Adam and Eve, with
Job, with Jesus in the garden,it's the same one, two, three,
man.
It's like so it's like even likeas a as a MMA fighter, you kind
of gotta learn who you'refighting, right?
And then you kind of learn, youknow, what's their combos,
what's their match.
But if you watch his fight, you're gonna be like, dude, you

(07:04):
fight the same every singletime.
Like you're not different, likeyou don't like you're crafty
with finding the bait, butyou're still a one, two, three,
like punch guy.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, oh, you're you're actuallyeasy to defeat.
Come on, very easy to defeat.
And so, as a business owner, entrepreneur, man, I recognize
the patterns just reading it.
And so when he came with Jesus, and what I did in the book is

(07:26):
try to illustrate, there's apattern in Adam and Eve and with
Jesus, and I I actuallyparalleled those for you so you
can see the the actual pattern.
It's the same attack, yeah, sameexact attack.
So we really have no excuse.
God's showing us come on, look,man, he's a kindergarten
fighter, you know.
Like, that's no, he's like anABC fighter.

(07:47):
Like, that's why Jesus was like, dude, you're an ABC fighter,
dude.
Like, yeah, yeah.
Like, come on, man.
Like, you're easy to defend,really.
You really are.
