In this episode of Building Billions, I break down the five strategies I’ve used—and that the top 1% rely on—to truly master time and productivity. I explain why being “busy” is a myth that keeps you small, how to take back ownership of your calendar, the four areas that actually deserve your time and attention, and why surrounding yourself with A-players is the only way to scale without burning out. Most importantly, I share how to guard your energy like your life depends on it, so you can focus only on the highest-value activities that drive growth in your business and create freedom in your life.

S1 (00:00):
Welcome back to Building Billions with Brandon Dawson. How do
you get time and money to work for you? Today
we're going to be talking about time and productivity. If
you're working ten hours a day, not taking any breaks
and somehow still falling behind and feeling overwhelmed, keep watching.
Here's the truth no one has ever actually taught you

(00:20):
how to own your own time. I've personally built multiple
eight and nine figure companies, and I am a nine
figure net worth business owner. These are the five secret
strategies that the top 1% use to manage their time.
Stop wasting energy and actually get things done. Diving into
strategy number one, which is being busy, is actually a myth.

(00:41):
This is actually the fastest way to stay small, and
if you're busy doing so many things, you'll never have
the time to do anything. Most people are addicted to
being busy because it feels like progress. You should be
doing the most important thing during a specific time block

(01:02):
to use your time to grow the business. So how
do you do that? That brings us to strategy number two,
which is that you need to own your own calendar.
Letting others control your calendar is modern day slavery. So
what I do is I have multiple people putting schedules
on my calendar, and then in real time, I decide
who I should actually talk to. For example, like my

(01:23):
most important clients, if they're on my schedule, I'm going
to talk to them. Somebody I don't know, they're going
to somebody else on my team. Number two, I allocate
people that I don't know or I'm uncertain that are
on my schedule to my second team, and then they
qualify those appointments. It's simple. If you want to grow,
you have to prioritize and own your energy and effort

(01:45):
into what creates the highest value and return in your
life by the minute through your business. So try it.
Have people book multiple meetings for you at the same time,
and then delegate the less important meetings and you keep
the most important ones. Next is point number three, which
is that there's only four things that actually deserve your

(02:08):
time and attention. If you don't pay attention to these,
you'll always stay small. For me, what I've learned from
my mentors and how I've been successful is I only
spend time with the most important people inside those four quadrants.
They're the ones, those people that moved the needle. And
if they're on my schedule, I will be spending time
with them. This is why it's so important to have

(02:28):
a team of people that you can trust and rely on,
and be up to date with. It's simple. If you
align your time with these four pillars and your top
performers in each pillar, then that is how you grow
and scale strategically. The most important number of all. It's
actually the people that matter the most. The people that
you surround yourself with will determine your success. I have

(02:52):
only become successful by intentionally surrounding myself with the most
competent people. This allows me to delegate functions, roles, and
decisions that I once used to handle myself. Honestly, the
best business owners, the most successful business owners scale their
businesses through people, not personal effort. When you're feeling overwhelmed,

(03:12):
you're not actually burned out. You're just surrounded by a
bunch of C players. The art of scaling a business
is you must build a team that frees up your
time to focus exclusively on the highest priorities and highest
impact areas of your business. That brings us to the
final point, which is arguably the most important. You have
to guard your energy like your life depends on it.

(03:33):
This is the biggest mistake I see business owners make
all the time, wasting their time and energy. Burnout is
not a badge of honor. Honestly, once you master owning
your time, all activities, including non-business activities like spending time
with your family or reading a book or developing yourself
can become the highest value use of your time. Prioritize

(03:57):
and only prioritize with intention. Most business owners, they miss
this entirely, reacting to conditions all day instead of proactively
protecting what energizes them the most. You have to try
to optimize your day around energy and effort, not just time.
That is how you get both profit and peace. Those

(04:20):
are the five strategies to take back your time. If

while still working a full time job, check out my
