diagnosed with multiple chronicillnesses and trying to make a
livable income.
I faced the challenge ofadapting traditional business
(00:27):
advice to fit my uniquecircumstances with chronic
illness, feeling frustrated andmore burned out than I already
was.
While managing my chronicillness to becoming an
award-winning coach with aflexible, sustainable online
coaching business, I found thesurprisingly simple steps to
starting and growing aprofitable business without
compromising my health or mypeace.
(00:48):
Since then, I've helped dozensof women just like you learn how
to do the same.
If you're ready to create athriving business that aligns
with your lifestyle andwell-being, you're in the right
place.
Together, we're shifting thenarrative of what's possible for
women with chronic illness andhow we make a living.
This is Business with ChronicIllness.
(01:12):
Welcome back to Business withChronic Illness.
I'm so excited that you're here.
I wanted to talk to you allabout a couple of things.
One it's November 2024.
There is still two months leftin the year.
So if you think or feel thatyou're not going to be able to
reach your goals or you've givenup on your goals, I encourage
(01:38):
you to review your goals and seewhere you can still be
committed and honor what you cando in this next two months of
the year, no matter what hashappened the rest of the year,
no matter what has gone wrong, what has gone right, what can
you lean into for yourselfholistically as a human being,
(02:01):
as well as for your business, that you can still have your own
back for when you're going into2025.
So that's just a reminder.
I thought it was reallyimportant because I need to
remind myself of that earlierthis month, not this month, last
month, in October, all right.
Secondly, what do you need tobe focusing on during this time
(02:22):
when it comes to your business?
So I definitely want to leaninto business talking around
this time.
There's a lot of noise that'sgoing to be happening in this
month and next month.
It's an election month.
It is also Black Friday, theholidays and everything.
You might feel extremelyoverwhelmed with the marketing
(02:43):
side of your business, the salesside of your business.
You might have serious FOMObecause you decided that you're
not going to do Black Fridaysales, or you did decide, or you
might decide that you aren't,and then you decide that you are
.
It doesn't matter where you arein that boat, it's okay.
I just want to remind you of afew things to think about when
(03:05):
you're thinking about yourbusiness during this year,
during this season.
So one if you are like Nikita,I'm tired, I'm done, I don't
care about my goals, I don'tcare what I said I was going to
do.
This year has been one ofcraziness and I just want to put
everything down and not thinkabout anything business related.
(03:28):
I want to offer two things toyou One I get it Like.
This is not the two, but thisis one.
I totally get it.
However, there's a saying andit's very much so, something
I've seen in my business whatyou focus on today is only
amplified three to six monthsfrom now and you don't see those
(03:50):
results.
You don't reap the rewards ofplanting those seeds.
So, during this season, whetheryou're planting seeds of rest
and just like, if you'replanting seeds of rest as well
as planting seeds ofreconfiguring, like you're
trying to figure out where youwant to be or what you want to
be doing in 2025, be sure you'replanting seeds now that support
(04:15):
that goal of rest and plantingmore seeds.
So what do I mean by that?
Well, during the season, oftentimes we're like I want to
rest because I'm exhausted, andI want you to think about
something.
If you have planted seeds lastyear 2023 in November and
December, so that you wouldn'thave to be so exhausted and just
(04:40):
frustrated with the year, whatseeds would you have had to
plant last year, in November,2023, to reap the rewards now?
So I want you thinking aboutthat now, like how do I reap
rest, not just in the end of theyear, but throughout the year
of next year now, by the seedsthat I plant?
(05:03):
Now, I'm not a huge planter, so,please, I'm just starting to be
happy that I haven't killed myOliveira plant that seems to
still be growing, and my Pythosplant that was gifted to me and
I've had for three months andit's still alive.
I'm so proud of that.
And I have two basil plantsthat are still producing basil.
(05:24):
So I am like the newbie and Ihave a succulent that hasn't
quite died yet.
It's still kind of alive.
I don't know what it is.
Maybe I'm becoming a plant mama.
I don't know, I'm already a furbaby mama, but anyway, random
tangent.
But here's what I want you tothink about when you're thinking
about planting seeds for restnow.
(05:45):
Yes, you want to rest now, butwhat do you need to have in
place in order to create morerestful year in 2025?
And what I'm about to sharewith you applies for you,
whether or not you're wanting toplant seeds of rest or you want
to, like, hit the groundrunning.
You've got plans, you've gotstuff to do.
This will apply to you as well.
(06:07):
Plant the seeds that you wantto harvest now for rest, for
growth, and the two ways thatyou can do this.
And I have been reallyreflecting on this in my own
journey and I'm like realizingand I'm seeing content and
things that people are talkingabout as far as how this year
has been challenging, wherethey've had to go back to A lot
(06:30):
of people, and a lot of you mayhave felt like you were having a
either coming back to home, toyour own voice, to your own
alignment of what it is that youwant.
You may have felt like you lostyour way because things didn't
work as well as you thought theywould.
You may be feeling that youneeded to shift or pivot in your
(06:54):
business.
Your health may have changedright.
For some of you, if you're likeme, this year has been a year
of like.
Okay, I must be in that cyclewhere my body is doing random
things and I don't know whatthat means, and so my energy and
my capacity has been shifted, and so I've really had to focus
a lot more on my intentionalwellbeing in general, just
(07:18):
trying to figure out what is mynew status quo, and so that
might have thrown off yourbusiness.
Also.
In general, the market thisyear, as far as like people's
businesses, has seriously takensome ups and downs.
Seriously, some businesses havedone really well, some have
closed, some are like on thetitter of like do I stay, do I
(07:40):
go?
And people, the way people arebuying and engaging are changing
, and some of us who have beenon social media I feel, like
some of us who have been on youknow social media I feel like
those of us in our 30s and abovehave been on social media like
the rat race of social media andis literally getting burnt out
from just that aspect of ourbusiness, of marketing and
(08:03):
content creation and contentconsumption, and so we may have
felt a lot of things this yearand you may have thought that
things would look different bythis time of year, and so maybe
you hustled more, maybe you pushmore, maybe you grind it out
more and maybe you tried so manydifferent things and you bounce
(08:23):
from here to here.
I have definitely heard that inmy calls with clients and sales
calls.
I have definitely heard that inmy calls with clients and sales
calls.
I have definitely seen that.
But the thing that I want you topay attention to is the
businesses that have done wellor continuing to grow or
continuing at least to appearlike they're moving forward is
that they're trying new thingsand sticking to it, but keeping
(08:47):
to the foundation of what theyknow works for them and tweaking
it.
And the other thing people aredoing is reconnecting with
people as much as AI andmarketing and sales and things
like that, on a technology level, has blasted.
Above all of the things, mediums like podcasting, mediums
(09:08):
like blogs, mediums likeFacebook y'all Facebook groups
and Facebook pages networkingand retreats in person have
skyrocketed this year, and Ithink and I know that the reason
this is is because people arecraving genuine connection and
community, and I have alwayssaid this, since I don't know
(09:32):
when, like I don't know.
I think I have an episodecalled the people are numbered
or the numbers are people.
I may have changed the name, but basically the idea that our
businesses don't grow or runwithout people and community,
and that is how you find yourrest, you guys.
(09:54):
That's how you plant seeds forrest.
You plant seeds for rest whenyou develop relationships for
your business and in your lifethat support you when you're
resting.
What, girl?
What are you talking about?
What I'm talking about issomething that happened to me
this year, which I'm verythankful for was the majority of
(10:15):
my business came from peoplewho found me, from other people
that I've connected with andnetworked with and developed a
relationship with, and that haseither happened organically in
me connecting with people or mylong form content, which has
been on for years.
Right, and so I encourage youthat, if you want to plant seeds
(10:38):
for rest going into 2025, thatyou do that during this season.
You don't have to hard selleverybody, but I do encourage
you to connect with people andgrow that email list and grow
that connecting in some way, shape or form.
Just checking in, and for allyour introverts out there.
I'm not an introvert, so I havemost of my clients are actually
(11:00):
introverts.
They actually love this type ofmarketing because it's
one-to-one.
They love this type ofconnection and community because
it's one-to-one and they canfocus on one question, one
person at a time.
It's an easy email, it's aneasy DM, it's an easy text
message, it's an easy comment ona social media platform of
(11:23):
someone you want to genuinelyconnect with and that is going
to help you really reap therewards of your garden going
throughout the year when youwant more times for rest because
you would have planted seedsand you have to nurture those
seeds now.
So that means maybe this seasonyou're starting to plan out a
(11:44):
connection and collaborationplan where you have a list of
people that you're connectingwith and you're having an idea
of like, what's the last timeyou connected with them, what
did they share with you, what'simportant for them, what are
they looking for, how can you bea resource to them and how can
you give of yourself in a waythat doesn't deplete you right?
(12:06):
So for those of you who are likeI don't want to be on social
media, then get to your emails, get to your phone and connect
with people, get into yourcommunity, look for community
things, host community events.
And it doesn't have to be big.
It could be one to.
It could literally just be aneighbor.
It could be a woman that youmeet at a candle shop that is
(12:29):
sharing her journey with youwhile you're shopping for
whatever you're shopping, andyou connect with her and you
tell her what it is that you doand you want to know how you can
help her Lean into community.
If you want more rest in yourlife, if you want more seeds
nurturing in your life, cultivate community Needs
(12:50):
nurturing in your life,cultivate community.
And for those of you who arelike grinding it out for the
business, gonna do the BlackFriday sales, gonna be posting,
I know for myself, I'm gonna bedoing a sales challenge in the
next month or so.
I'm also gonna be working withmy clients on that same aspect
of things.
However, I'm still focusing oncommunity.
(13:10):
I'm still focusing onconnecting and asking of how I
can be of support to people.
Right, reconnecting with peoplethat I haven't connected with.
For me, this is a practice thatI've always kind of developed,
but this is going to help youand your goals for 2024 that
we're still in the two monthsleft going to help you and your
(13:31):
goals for 2024, that we're stillin the two months left, as well
as 2025.
And it will help you hit theground running in 2025 because
you would have set up yourselfto have seeds where people are
thinking about you and you aretop of mind, even though it is
crazy.
Because I can guarantee youthere are tons of businesses out
here who are focused on peoplethat they don't know becoming
their clients.
(13:52):
And I want you to focus on thepeople that you already have
connected with.
I want you focusing on thepeople that you have already
served and connecting with themas much as you're looking for
other people.
Be sure to reconnect with yourpeople, reconnect with those who
you maybe have lost connectionwith this year.
Check in with them, check inwith these people y'all.
(14:14):
We don't have businesseswithout business.
Without people, we don't havebusinesses.
Without relationships, we don'thave business.
So you have to lean into thatif you want to cultivate more
rest and more growth, even inyour business.
So I wanted to share that withyou.
I wanted to share thosedifferent kinds of ways with you
(14:36):
.
So, if you're like Nikita, Iwant to rest.
That's what I want you to focuson.
If you're like Nikita, I wantto go hard in my business.
I want to do the things.
I want you to do the same thingFor those who are like I want
to really commit to, like salesand marketing.
I want you to also look foropportunities to collaborate,
look for ways to collaborate toexpand your audience.
(14:57):
Again, this goes back to andit's much easier to do when you
have made connections withpeople.
If you haven't, this is thetime to plant those seeds to be
collaborators coming into thenew year.
But this is the time y'all, this is the time.
So I am actually going to bepitching to some of my clients
opportunities to collaboratewith me.
(15:18):
I'm really excited about thisbecause I haven't done in a
while and I've kind of been inmy own head, mindset wise about
it.
I like lots of thoughts, but Iwant you to do is what we all
crave right now, which isconnection and community and
people, and if you can do it inreal time, not on Zoom, if you
(15:39):
can meet up with someone forcoffee or if you can meet them
up for a lunch or something likethat, or go to a networking
event or go to a conferencenearby, or if the in-person is
like too much.
Get into the online communitiesthat you are and offer value,
be of service.
This is going to help you be ofconnection.
(16:02):
Connection creates a wealth ofgrowth and it helps you so much
long-term long-term as long asyou maintain and nurture that.
So that's what I wanted toshare with you for this episode.
We have so many amazing guestepisodes over the next couple of
weeks.
I am moving.
(16:24):
Here's an announcement I ammoving to a new state.
We're moving to St John's,florida, which is just off of
Jacksonville.
We're really excited about thismove.
We're actually moving at theend of this month and at the end
of November and I'm so excited.
(16:44):
You guys, we've done a lot ofemotional work and growth and I
personally have done a lot ofgrowth, and I feel like this is
the first time we're making adecision that is sorely rooted
by our prayerful considerationof what we want, what's good for
us as a couple, as individualsand nobody else came into
(17:09):
consideration here really.
Of course, we have family andfriends like that that came into
consideration.
We're going to miss them, butwe're close enough to people.
But we're also going to bewhere we really feel like we
will enjoy, and that's importantfor both of us.
We both deal with our ownchallenges.
I live with multiple chronicillnesses and my husband deals
(17:30):
with his own challenges, and soenvironment is everything for us
and being close to things thatbring me peace personally, like
the ocean.
We're not that close to theocean that we have to worry too
much about hurricanes, whichwe're excited about that,
because we used to live in StPete and Tampa and that was
lovely, like it really is lovelybut it also was very stressful
(17:51):
because of thinking and dealingwith the hurricanes, and we
don't hear too much of thathappening in Jacksonville.
So and Jacksonville, you stillget the seasons.
It's not always like burning upyou still get, you know, a
little fall, a little winter.
They last shorter and they'renot, as you know, incredibly
intense as they are in someother areas.
(18:12):
So we're excited about havingthat and we've met some great
friends in that area.
So there's so much excitementhappening.
So, to say the least, I'm goingto be busy me packing, doing all
of the things.
So I know all of you are goingto be busy, but just find
yourself thinking about whatseeds do I need to plant now in
(18:32):
order to reap the rewards cominginto.
You know, january, march, april, you know May of next year, I
think.
Sometimes we completely stop inNovember and December and then
we wonder and we get frustratedwhen we hit the ground running
in January or mid-January forsome of us and we didn't reach
(18:52):
our goals and it's because wecompletely stopped sowing seeds,
throwing seeds out there.
So that's just something I wantyou all to think about.
And if you're looking to workwith a coach I am still bringing
on clients inside ofChronically you and Profitable.
This is the program where, ifyou want to launch or start and
(19:13):
launch your coaching orservice-based business, teaching
or helping others to createwhatever version of success that
you're helping them with,whether creatively, health-wise,
professionally, whatever kindof coach or service provider,
digital marketer you want to bethen that's great.
And if you're like Nikita, Iwant some one-on-one support.
(19:34):
I have four spots available formy one-on-one clients.
This is where you get me handson any day to help you in
different areas of your businessand your life, and my pricing
and everything you can find inthe show notes of the show.
For those of you who are likewhat's one-on-one coaching or

how can that help me.

chronic illness, I can supportyou in that way.

situations, life circumstances, then I want you to come and
