Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right.
So we are about a week out frompodcast movement Most wonderful
time of the year.
I love podcast movement.
I'm so excited about this.
I think we had like referencesbefore feeling like summer camp
summer camp for podcasters.
Yeah, you just you just go andhang out all together for like a
week and get to do fun stuffand like have parties and get
(00:24):
together and just have a goodtime.
I love it.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Learn new tools,
learn about new shows, and you
come back and you've got a queuefull of stuff to listen to.
That's true.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
All right.
So for the Buzzsprout team, wehave two sessions this year.
So if you are going to PodcastMovement on Wednesday, so if you
are going to Podcast Movementon Wednesday, both Tom and I
have sessions that we'respeaking at and mine is at 930
am.
I don't know why mine arealways first thing in the
morning.
It happens like almost everytime.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
You're such a peppy
morning person, I guess it's
perfectly fine.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
You know what?
I'm actually excited becauseit's going to be like ripping
off a band-aid.
I'm just going to get it donelike first thing in the morning
and then have the rest of theday just chill.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, you don't want
to be thinking about that.
You have to give a talk allafternoon.
Oh yeah, you know that'sterrible, yeah, and people are
like ready to go in the morning.
I think your crowd will bebetter.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Hopefully.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, that's the time
.
That's the right time to talk.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I have a really fun
talk.
I'm super excited listenersupport.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
This is going to be
my first time speaking in the
expo hall, so is it going to beone of the sessions where people
get headphones to listen to you?
Speaker 1 (01:33):
I think so.
It says creator expert talkstage in the expo hall and I
have a feeling that I'm going tobe right on stage fighting the
ambient conference noise.
We'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I think it's okay.
I like those talks when I go tothem as a audience member, do
you?
It's a pretty neat experienceto put on the headphones and sit
there and then you can.
It just feels a little bit likeyou're listening to a podcast.
For whatever reason.
I feel a little bit moreconnected to the speaker.
I can hear them really clearly.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Okay, well, that's
good.
I actually haven't been to oneof those, so I'm not sure, like,
how well you can hear withheadphones and stuff, or how the
microphone like.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
I think it's a better
sound, I think it's better
audio quality than when you gointo a private room, cause even
in those private rooms they aresound treated and stuff.
But you know, like maybe I justhad bad luck, I always sit next
to like people behind me orchatting to each other or
something, and it still is aroom Like there still is a
little bit of reverb and stuff.
And for people who have likehearing issues, like I do, I
(02:29):
have a hard time focusing oncertain noises and loud
environments.
So for me it just lets me focuson the speaker a little bit
better and so I think it's great.
Like I actually prefer thosetalks where I can go in, I can
get headphones and I can listen.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
So you're talking
about different monetization
strategies.
You're going to cover at leastthree or four that you've done.
What is Tom talking on?
Speaker 1 (02:49):
So, tom, he's talking
later that day at 3.15 PM.
He's talking aboutunderstanding podcast statistics
.
This is great.
I mean we had him on I don'teven remember when a couple
months ago or something likethat to talk about podcast
statistics.
So this is his wheelhouse andit's a great talk.
So that's going to be a greatone.
He's at podcaster stage two.
(03:10):
And then, guys, I think thismight be the best I heart party
possible for you to, becauseit's at a restaurant.
I was a little confused becauseit's called something like
chicken and pickle or chickenpickle or something like that,
and I looked up, like what isthis?
(03:30):
It's a restaurant.
It's a restaurant but they alsohost pickleball tournaments and
they have like 11 pickleballcourts, so I think that we need
to pack our keep podcastingpickleball paddles and see Maybe
to give away, but not to use.
That's right, because you guyshave the fancy ones, huh.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
We're bringing our
pro level paddles.
If we're going to play, we'replaying to win Jordan.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, I was thinking
about it.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I'm like I wonder
who's going to challenge you
guys, cause I'll already haveall my pickleball gear there,
because I'm going a few daysearly to help move my daughter
into college and then I have gotnothing to do for a couple of
days, like a Saturday and Sunday, until you guys arrive.
So I figured I'd go try to findsome pickleball courts around
Fort Worth Dallas area.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah so.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
I'll be ready to go.
You're going to be warmed up.
Except this feels a little bitweird.
Usually at these podcastmovement, you know, evening
after party things, you don'twant to be, I don't know,
drenched in sweat.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Yeah, running around
in Dallas it's still hot, so
it's not going to be like alittle.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
It sounds like it's
not going to be like a little.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
It sounds like it's
going to be indoors, though I
think that they have some courtsindoors and some are outdoors.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
So you guys are.
Maybe we need to arrive earlyand secure an indoor court.
You guys can just set up campthere.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
So before this, we're
actually going to have the
Buzzsprout meetup.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Oh really.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
So Tuesday we are
going to find a spot, I think
probably five, six.
We're going to find a spot, Ithink probably five, six.
We're going to have probably anhour, hour and a half.
We'll have drinks, we'll havefood.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Oh, I'm not drinking
anything.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
I got to stay sharp
for pickleball.
Yeah Well, we're not drinkingwater.
We'll be hydrating up, we mighthave a Gatorade and we'll be
ready to go for our pickleballchampionship at the I heart
party.
But, jordan, actually you saidwe have two talks breaking news.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Oh what.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
We've got a third
talk.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Are you serious?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Adobe podcast is
doing the podcast primer this
year and that's going to be onMonday from one to three, and
Jay reached out and asked me tocome talk about hosting shows
and how to get a podcast onlineand out to directories, and so
I'm going to go and talk aboutBuzzsprout.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
So that'd be great.
Will that just be you from oneto three, or are you like a part
of a panel, or do you know Well?
Speaker 3 (05:43):
it's one to three, so
it's a full two hour thing.
I think Jay from Adobe podcastis doing a lot of it, and then
Ariel Nissenblatt is going to bepart of it.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Of course.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
I think she's talking
about probably the marketing
side and probably the somemonetization stuff, and I think
it's for people we actually, jordan and I did this talk four
years ago with Crystal and withCarrie Ann.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
And the idea is you
might be coming to podcast
movement and I think they gotfeedback Like some people show
up to talks and they go.
This is actually a little bitover my head.
I don't think I understand someof these terms.
So the podcast primer is twohours.
We're going to give youeverything you need to know to
start a podcast.
We're going to start at thevery basics, we're going to work
(06:25):
our way up and so you'll bereally comfortable for the rest
of the week to keep learning andkeep building your knowledge.
So I'll be there talking aboutBuzzsprout and teaching people
about how to set up a podcast.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
That's awesome, and
it's on Monday, or is it Tuesday
?
Speaker 3 (06:41):
It's Monday, so it's
actually the day before podcast
movement really kicks off.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Oh wait, wait, wait.
I'm putting the pieces of thepuzzle together.
Now, this is exactly when we'resupposed to be setting up our
booth, isn't it?
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Alvin has just worked
himself out of booth setup.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
Sorry guys, I have to
go hang out with a bunch of fun
podcasters and talk aboutpodcasters.
I saw something on the list andthen I just reached out.
It's like Jay, please get meout of this.
I can't hang these LED lightsup and tweak each one
individually ever again.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Oh my gosh, yeah,
okay.
So yeah, buzzsprout has threetalks this year.
That's pretty awesome.
And then, as always, we'regoing to have our Buzzsprout
booth in the expo hall.
So you have to come by, youhave to grab swag, you need to
get on our text chain so you canbe notified when we are doing
our meetup, when we're attendingcertain parties or going to
(07:35):
certain sessions, things likethat.
I think we just kind of do likewe don't flood your text
messages with things.
We're not promoting a ton ofthings.
It's just, hey, we're gonna behere at this time or hey, this
is a session that so-and-so isspeaking at.
You might want to go check thatout.
It's very limited.
So definitely get on that textchain.
And then you also need to getsome Buzzsprout swag.
(07:57):
And it sounds like Kevin, arewe doing secret swag just for
Buzzcast listeners?
Speaker 2 (08:04):
I mean I ordered some
um.
Half of it came in.
I uh, I'm not like over themoon about it, but it's fine,
Cause I'm kind of testing somelike new products with our logos
on them and so, yes, I'm happyto give out the stuff that I got
.
I'm another box might come in.
I won't be here, but I have itshipped to the office.
So, Alvin, maybe you can grabthat if something comes in with
(08:24):
my name on it.
Yeah, I mean, we always want tomeet Buzzcast listeners,
whether we have special swag ornot.
So please come say hi, and ifwe do get special swag, I'm
happy to share it with you.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah, and it might be
like a limited run, so that's
right.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
We need to make an
enamel pin for Buzzcast
listeners.
We do like one just foreverybody who comes in who
listened to this show.
You know we don't need to makea ton of them, there's not.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
you know, we know
that we only need like 20.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Well, we love each
and every one of you, so maybe
we could try to figure somethingout.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Yeah, that'd be
awesome, all right, well, I'm
super excited for PodcastMovement.
If you're going to be going toPodcast Movement, tap the Texas
Show link in the show notes tolet us know that we're going to
see you there, because we'llkeep an eye out for you.
