Poul Nyrup Rasmussen husker tydeligt, da hans lærer roste ham og gav ham en fornemmelse i maven, der fik ham til at hænge i og klare sig i skolen. I dag ser han pædagoger og andre af velfærdsstatens fagprofessionelle som helt uundværlige dele i omsorgskæden, der skal hjælpe børn og unge i god trivsel.
