Lorsqu'ils explosent sur la scène internationale en 1993, les frères Albert & Allen Hughes représentent une énorme promesse cinématographique. Ils n'ont que 22 ans et un seul long-métrage à leur actif et pourtant, MENACE II SOCIETY les fait rentrer dans la cour des grands. Plus de trente ans après, ils n'ont malheureusement pas totalement transformé l'essai, mais la puissance de leurs premiers films demeure. Stéphane Moïssakis et Rafik Djoumi explorent ensemble LE film qui a totalement transcendé la notion de "film de ghetto" dans lequel la critique a bien voulu l'enfermer à l'époque, pour s'élever à cent coudées au dessus des autres représentants du genre.
