Speaker 1 (00:00):
We are back.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
The nplis cult seven in one another Sunday another ass
kicking and Eddie. You don't see it often, although you
did see it quite a few teams around the league.
But playing walk on football in the fourth quarter of
an NFL game, you don't empty the bench too often.
And the Colts have emptied it a whole lot here

(00:22):
because of them in twenty twenty five. They did it
again on Sunday thirty eight to fourteen.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Again.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
I feel like a broken record.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I feel like I've done this Monday pod so many
times this season and it is just an unbelievable compliment
how they've played football this season. Again, no twenty point
wins last year, the year before, or the year before that,
and they've got four of them here through the first
eight weeks. Jonathan Taylor is extremely good at football and
the Colts are seven and one. Good morning to you, sir.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Good morning KB. How are you good?

Speaker 5 (00:56):
Good?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Yeah, hollween, Well it looks good for Friday.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
What are we dressing up as cheerleader or K pop
demon Hunter for Rosie? Really help cheerleader because we don't
pop demon Hunter. We don't even know what like Little Band.
It's probably the easiest way to say it, Like you
don't like demon Hunt. No, No, it's fine music. Yeah,

(01:21):
I actually it's it's enjoyable music. But dressing up, No,
we already bought the cheerleader outfit. Okay, that's what we're wearing.
And then for Max either a dinosaur or a or spidery.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
So yeah, we're going back and forth. So up here
we are.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
This is pretty simple. I just want to be an animal.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Sound we sound like Mike McCoy at the fifty yard
line versus we need some shainsake and decisiveness?

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Are you and Maddie not dressing up in our house?

Speaker 2 (01:48):
If Maddie dresses up thirty eight weeks pregnant, then she
deserves a purple heart.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
I will be baking, I think.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Okay, here can we get? Can we get some improvement
there in your part?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
What do you mean?

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Come on?

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Why mess with success?

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Success?

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I'm like the Colts offense.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
You know one thing too to note about yesterday, Eddie
is like they've handled business at home, you know, I
mean they were a fifteen to nineteen home football team
the previous four years during this playoff drought, and for
you to be what five and oh at home right now,
and you know again the professionalism grand takeaways after playing
the Titans. I get they're not probably going to be
there too too much, but still it is unbelievable, unbelievably

(02:30):
impressive what they are doing. So a lot to get
to on today's pod. Probably a little bit more trade
deadline centric coming up on Wednesday, as it'll be coltson Steelers,
a three point.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Favorite early in the week.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
I think it's Iron Eagle and JJ Watt on that
call off Colton Steelers coming up one o'clock. Pittsburgh looked
really bad in the second half last night.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
They've looked really bad for some time now that I mean.
I was just looking over their schedule before we got
on the pod. I'm like man and Stiking owns there
this defense for Pittsburgh is not good. And Mike Tom, yeah,
it is not good. But to dive into what you did,
like starting with Jonathan Taylor, Kevin. A lot of people
don't know this, but like the Colts send out a

(03:09):
ton of emails, especially after the game, mainly like quotes
of what the players said, which she and Sichin said.
Same for the Tennessee aspect of it, they'll send it
with the opponent. So and they also send these postgame notes,
which I think are really really helpful for like stat
nerds like you and me. And I was looking at
Jonathan Taylor's name and all the stats and athletes take
up a whole damn page. It's unreal.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
I mean there was like fifteen bullet points I think
there was this week for Taylor, which is a massive amount.
I said to my chapel, who I think I've here before?
I sit next to chap at home games. I said
to my chapel, I think, after maybe the second run
of the game, what is.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
His career high?

Speaker 5 (03:46):
Again?

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Like it had that feel out early for me. Yeah,
like his first run was a great run yesterday, like
that twelve thirteen yard or.

Speaker 5 (03:58):
So.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I found myself over the last twenty four hours that
he thinking the why Why is a guy that has
already had a Hall of Fame start to his career,
why or how is he taking it to another level?
Because I think that's the question you have right now.
You know, Taylor has been unbelievable in his NFL career,
but why is it going another wrong up the ladder?

(04:19):
The biggest thing I can come back to. And I
know it's not something super scientific or something super whatever.
Maybe insightful to some people, but I just think it's
general health. I don't look and Taylor has largely been
I think a healthy running back.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Now. He's fought some things over the last three years.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
You know, he had the ankle issue issue in twenty
twenty two, and then the contract issue and then the
ankle kind of lingers.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Remember he had the thumb yep, you know, missed a
few games.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
With that right after coming back from the whole contract dispute.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Right, and then had the ankle last year a little
bit early in the season. I can't recall the last
time he's missed a practice.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Practice.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yeah, he hasn't shown up with the injury report in
eight weeks of season. How me starting running backs go
eight weeks into a season not showing up, you know,
like a Wednesday rest day or a Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Sit out for whatever anything. And I'm trying to think
back preseason.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
I mean, hell, in the preseason, Eddie, he carried the football.
You know how many running backs with his resume touch
it in the preseason, right? And then training camp the spring.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Pristine health because I feel like what has that led to?
It's led to a few.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
More second level runs turned into the third level, third
level runs turned into the fourth level. And that's that.
It would be my summerization.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
I guess fourth level being the end zone.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Sure exactly, that would be my summerization of Taylor right now.
Pristine health is leading to a few more of the
Let's take that run. You know, seven becomes thirteen, thirteen
becomes nineteen, nineteen becomes eighty, And think back to the
season Eddie yesterday. The eighty yard run is one of
the finest runs you'll ever see. I can't believe, given

(06:06):
that angle, he is able to full throttle it down
the sideline and still keep still saying bounce. I said
to Chap many times during the run, I go, there's
no way he's stayed in bounce right, and yet he
has the balance and the speed and the combo of
that to do it. What's you know, what's your favorite
tailor run of the year? Is it Week two in
Denver when the dude has him right in the backfield
for a tackle for loss and he breaks that and

(06:27):
turns it into sixty? Is it Week three in Tennessee
when Warren's leading into the hole is the full back,
and Taylor right in the middle of the field, you know,
puts his foot in the ground and boom, breaks a
couple tackles. The next thing, you know, he blows that
game open. Is it the Rams run that Ady Mitchell
commits the holding penalty on that one doesn't even count
in the stat chet or is it yesterday? And I mean, honestly,

(06:49):
I thought the first touchdown run was just as impressive
as the eighty yarder. And you know, even the shovel
pass doesn't go down as a run, but that was
beautiful as well. So well, MVP chants are abound. Maybe
I'll save my MVP rant for Twitter questions. I'm sure
we had we had had a tailor something question and

(07:09):
in Twitter questions, I'll maybe save my MVP thoughts on that.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
But Jonathan Taylor extremely good at football ATY.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
You know, if he plays all seventeen games, he's on
average or he's projected to have one and six rushing yards,
so he needs to pick up the pace.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Was yesterday his fewest touches of the season.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Let's see at fourteen touches yesterday? Oh yeah, easily. And
you know, it's probably the best game so back to
back weeks. By the way, the last two games Chargers
in this game are the fewest touch games of the
season for him.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Mm hmmmm hmm.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
He had nineteen against the Chargers and then which fourteen
against the Titans yesterday.

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Score.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
I have something new with that, but I would be
good with you knowing them back a little bit, just
to saving for December.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
But special, special.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Player, absolutely another special player who's been the most consistent
player in the wide receiver room when he's been healthy.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Michael Pittman Junior had another solid day yesterday. Kevin, Yeah,
I want to make sure we mentioned him. I was
kind of hoping he'd eclipse one hundred just to get
that stat done. It's kind of a wild stat. They've
played eight games and they haven't, you know, had a
hundred yard put yard receiver yet. Obviously scores indicated some
of that. Pittman, you know, easily could have gone back
in the game and gotten over one hundred eight catches

(08:22):
and nine targets for him and Eddie. That's one of
the catch best catches I've seen from a Colts player.
His touchdown catch, you know, to be blanketed pass interference
to fight through it, make the play go to the ground,
complete the catch.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
All of it. Uh, pretty special by Michael Pittman Junior.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
There.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
I had to laugh when he slid.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
That's one of the funny in the midfield. Yeah, you know,
insert you know what I say quite often about that
man in his collegiate background.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Wait, wait, what is it? For those that maybe just tuning.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
In there was no UFC pretty boy and how Michael
Pittman Junior plays football. I can think a lot of
other Colts white outside of probably or would have slid
doing that, But I had no issue with it. Yeah,
you know, you have the juggling catch kind of reminiscent
of Reggie Wayne and the AFC Championship cable for the.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Right off the face mask. But I just they're reminded
me of at the game they do the simmacam the
way you caught it.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Hold by the way, shout out to the movie lookalike
cam Yesterday and ended with India and the Jones and
a camera shot off Daniel Jones. Let's go, very very
nicely done by the Colts in game entertainment crew. So yeah,
I just I wanted to mention Pittman, but I also
just want to mention the skill group because like their
ability to not have ego to allow them to be

(09:42):
as balanced as they are. It's not just a slam dug.
It's not a given to continue to kind of whatever
run out your route tree and you know, save the
balance that you do have there. It's it's a very
special group off the field as well. And so by
the way we left Tanner BORDERLINI joined the pod here.
We had that our morning show earlier today. We'll throw

(10:03):
that here coming up in a few minutes there. I
think you'll really enjoy not only Bordalini's comments. I think
he's pretty good voice emerging voice for them, but I
also think when you hear Braden Smith's breakfast order, oh boy,
brace yourself.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
The eight catches and ninety five yards are most in
the game by a pass catcher for the Colts this season. Coincidental, Kevin,
Weren't we just talking about that on like Monday or
Wednesday of last week, about what's the most catches in
a game for a Colt receiver?

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:31):
I think yeah, because I remember we were looking up
kind of Warren's numbers and so yes, good on Pittman,
who was he was the Jim Orsi guitar guy yesterday.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Good walking in the stadium. I'm sure Tyler Warren is
not gonna, you know, complain, but yesterday was national tight
ends to day. One of those touchdowns should have gone
to him.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Oh, I know, I think they were trying.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
There was only one play that I thought was stupid, Kevin.
But something you liked was that there was nothing stupid
about the game yesterday for the Colts offense. We were defensively,
I feel like stupid play.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
The do one, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought opening
drive against the worst team in the NFL. I don't
know if that's necessarily something you need to be deploying there.
I did think Tennessee did a decent job of breaking
it up. But yes, could have been Dirted, could have
been first, could have been not called, could have been Dirted,
and Ashton Doalon could have not tried to act like
he was Reggie Bush at usc All on the same play.

(11:20):
But yeah, as far as the nothing stupid or no,
just in general, no negatives. And I guess I'll use
this time to bring up Daniel Jones Eddie. I would
not have guessed yesterday was a career high in passer
raady just judging by the game I saw now certainly
like when you it gets inflated when like you throw

(11:41):
the shovel to tailor and you know he does the
rest there.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
On that play.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
But still, and you know, I found myself walking out
stadium being like, it is such a credit to Daniel
Jones where he has and I'm speaking for myself here,
he has raised his standard to where.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
I look at yesterday.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Don't you know from a pure passer writing standpoint, that
was an A plus Daniel Jones game. If you would
have told me yesterday, what's your letter greade on Daniel Jones,
I would have said, like, uh, I don't know, B
B plus. But it's like he has taken his standard
over these last two months and he's raised it to
a level where like that performance to me.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
Looks a little w hum yeah, which.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
In reality it's like, wait, man, hey, do you realize
where he came from? And then b that's pretty darn
good quarterback play. And I get the second quarter is
probably what I point to for a little bit of
nit nippick. You know, I thought maybe recognizing a little
bit of the pressure, feelings in that pressure, especially the
free rusher.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
I guess I'll.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Point out I I you know, the Colts have had
a few of these Monday concussions today. I was a
little shocked Daniel Jones didn't get checked out at all
after that sack. I mean that was a violent slam
to the turf of his head there, And you know,
you think about Javarius Ward and Josh Downs. I think
they might have had another one that had concussion like

(13:06):
symptoms develop on a Monday. So I don't know, just
something to keep an eye on, But yeah, I thought
second quarter it kind of bounce back from that. Obviously,
hits the deep ball to Pierce, gave him a chance
there after missing him a little bit long in the
second and then you know Downs finding him for that
last touchdown that really just kind of iceed ice the game.
So no negatives. Six times in eight games, stuff that

(13:29):
I shouldn't take for granted.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
How about this from a Live Sports brio, Kevin most
points per drive through Week eight in a single season
since nineteen at seventy eight. I'm sure that's as far
back as they can go with tracking such statistic. Number
one the two thousand and seven Patriots number three. The
two thousand rams twenty eighteen Chiefs is fourth. The Colt's
second three point four to six points per drive New

(13:56):
England was three point five to seven. Absolutely unreal.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
Yeah it is. It's amazing what he is doing. And
you know, all these stats point to him, you know,
greatest show on turf and this and that. It's pretty
darn good.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
And the final one, uh shout out to Mount Kanti
for this one. Yesterday, Coltzoff scored either a touchdown or
a field goal on sixty seven consecutive red zone possessions
dating back to Week seven of twenty twenty four. It's
the longest streak among all NFL teams dating back to
at least nineteen ninety three. Can you imagine looking that up?

Speaker 2 (14:33):
I know, yeah, that one really because obviously that means
no turnovers whenever, no missed short field goals when you
do occasionally settle for field goals.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
So no turnover on downs.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Right, yeah, turnover downs for sure, yep.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
Yeah, no, we're in the game clock managements. Yeah, where
you don't score either. Kevin wann win like this and
the way they've been playing, it's hard to find things
that you didn't like, but I think we could all agree.
It was pretty painful watching Mike McCoy coach yesterday.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Yeah, I I was dumb, though, I mean listening to
Tennessee media. I mean, it was just unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Like you're an interim head coach and you are punting
the ball like you're Army or Navy in a snow
game in December. It was I mean, I don't want
to act like that game was ever going to become
a game, but Tennessee, at several points, we're driving with
the ability of like if we score here, it's still
one possession, you know, kind of those types of drives,

(15:25):
and yet they'd get into these like whatever fourth and
threes around midfield, fourth and fives, and oh, let's get
a net. You know, I think we really need a
net punt.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Of twenty two.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Nothing says a good one in six football team needing
a with an interim head coach need a net punt
against and giving the ball back to the Colts offense
like that. Yeah, Yeah, that was just pathetic. I literally
said in my chapel, I go, can they fire an
interim head coach?

Speaker 1 (15:48):
Are you allowed to do?

Speaker 2 (15:48):
That? Is an NFL team ever fired two coaches in
one year, because that's what I'd be doing with.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
Well, the Colts did that right in the uh that
one year they fired Marcus Brady.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
And then well I meet two head coaches.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Oh you know, I actually.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Think cam Board's got some legit talent, and I feel
bad for him a little bit there. I think he's
got some. And you know, if I am gonna nitpick,
I guess a couple things, Eddie. One, I counted Tennessee
for ten real drives yesterday. Yeah, seven of them got
to Cult's territory. So again, no grand takeaways. I think

(16:28):
when you play an opponent like this, but I guess,
eight days away from the trade deadline, I still think
you need to be looking into something. And I do
think they are looking into something, but that would be one.
And I don't know what to make of this, but
I'll ask you this, uh huh, what.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Do you make of Zira Franklin's tackling numbers this season?

Speaker 4 (16:49):
I think it's a you know, it shows the difference
in scheme, so.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
You think it's purely scheme. No indicator of Zire Franklin's play.
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
It could be a mixture of both, but uh, I
feel like it's more scheme related than anything else, because
it felt like everything with you know, Gus Bradley was
funneling towards the middle of the field, especially in the
wrong game. So that you know, whomever's I here, e J.
Speed or whomever's playing linebacker Grant Stewart had a really
nice game for him last year or whatever did rack
up tackles.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Yeah, it's quite amazing that yesterday's Are Franklin was eleventh
on the team in tackles. He had two tackles in
the game, two assisted tackles in the game. It's the
few as he's had as a starter since he became
a full time starter for this team.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
So Jermaine Pratt led the team in tackles with eight.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
So no double digit tackle games yet from Zider this
season either, right, but I mean he does have he
does have the a sack on the season and a
couple passes defense.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
I And again I don't think it's you know, I
don't act like what Sara Franko's the liability needs to
be pulled off the field. But it is kind of wild,
how like Jermaine Pratt's coming here and like he's been tackler,
you know, a couple of different games now, whereas Franklin
is not. You know, is that Will versus Mike?

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Is that what it is?

Speaker 3 (18:06):
There?

Speaker 2 (18:06):
So but again, defensively, I still just have questions when
you play more legit teams moving forward here, And I
don't think yesterday necessarily whatever changed my mind anyway, shape.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
Or form on Do you think teams are running away
from them at all? Maybe a little bit, I don't.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Know, But I mean I think in general, running up
the middlegans the Colts is probably dumb considering their defensive
tackle play. True, obviously the third and six is a
great design and Tajy Spears, you know, rip that off
down sideline there. But you know, again, I think in
general when I think about this defense is like not
every game. Are you gonna have rookie quarterbacks miss third
and fourteen home runs?

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Or you know, do what they did? You know near
the fifty yard line there? You know, I know the
field goal was long by slide, but how easy was
that to just get into field goal range there?

Speaker 1 (18:55):
To plays forty one yards? Boom boom? That that some
of that stuff's playing with fire.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Last thing to add in terms of what you did
not like the defense not getting off the field early.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Yeah, and I guess I kind of said that, you know,
probably in covernt of just like the natural ability to
get off the field. And again my assumption isn't seven
of ten drives should be reversed, but like, can you
get that closer to whatever? Fifty to fifty, especially against
offenses that have struggled to the magnitude of what Tennessee's

(19:28):
offense has, So you know, that would be a question
that I would have continuing here as you're going to
face you know, better, better offenses, more competent quarterbacks. However
you want to define it here, And that's really the
that's kind of the big shift.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Now, Eddie. It's almost like you can cut up the
season into two.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
You know.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Now, I'd be stunned if you are a double digit
favorite really in any game the rest of the year,
barring injury, yeah, barring obviously quarterback injury. But you know, now,
the schedule shifts. I don't think p was a great
team at all, but you know, the atmosphere you know,
at Pittsburgh, at Arrowhead and what at Seattle. Those are

(20:06):
three of your next four road trips, and I think
one of them is the one that's not is at Jacksonville,
which we know the history there. So I mean those
are just different atmospheres and you know, more competent football teams,
and you know, maybe when you start to build the lead,
maybe the other team isn't throwing.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Off the white flags as often. So the schedule certainly
is about to shift.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Yeah, three for six third down conversions in the first
half for Tennessee. I'm not sure what they finished on
the game. Let me quickly look, Tennessee finished after three
for six in the first half, they finished six for fifteen,
so three for nine in the second half, So they
a better job on third down getting off the field
in the second half compared to the first half.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Sure we get to Tanner Borderlini, let's do it the
Colt Center. I think you'll enjoy the con though with
him up in early seven to forty five on a
Monday morning for Tanner Bordellini, him with us on the
Morning Show.

Speaker 6 (20:58):
Tanner Borderlini the Offensive and for the Indianapolis Colts on
the Payless Lookers Hotline. Good morning on another victory Monday
for the Indianapolis Colts. I would have guessed that you're
okay with this getting old, this this victory Monday thing, right.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
No, it has been a lot of fun to be
a part of. But I got to keep them rolling.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
Absolutely, Tanner.

Speaker 7 (21:18):
When you look at what this team is able to
be able to do offensively, how impressive is it or
how much fun is it? Rather to be a fan
every now and then, Like, for example, when you're blocking
for a play, I don't know how often you get
a chance to just sit there and watch the rest
of it. But when JT goes for eighty yards, what's
your reaction to what you're seeing on a regular basis.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
I mean, it's pretty awesome.

Speaker 8 (21:43):
I think you see some of the players, our guys
make a weekend week out, it's always extremely impressive. You know,
watching JT break that ADR touchdown something that I don't
think ever gets old. You know they think the kid
inside he lives a little bit watching and make plays
like that.

Speaker 5 (21:58):
And it's, uh, you get the chance to.

Speaker 8 (22:00):
Be a fan again. You see Pitt make a grab
like that in the end zone yesterday, It's like, oh my,
did you see that? Uh? I think We're just as
excited as the fans are, and it's been really a
lot of fun to be a part of. And uh,
I know, I think me I can speak for everyone
on the offense when I say we're having a blast
out there.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Tanner, Mike, did you see that moment? Was when you
out jumped Shane Steichen on the sidelines. There you got
Shane's got to get his vertical up.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
Oh so Shane tried to get me out on last
week and I missed him. I misread the situation. So
I gotta get him back this week, so I make
sure to.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Get up there.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
I'm pretty sure this next game.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Will be dialed on it.

Speaker 8 (22:34):
He'll be ready to roll, He'll get some height on
that jump. But uh, I think we both get a
little pretty fired up when when our offense is rolling
like that.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
It's a starting center for the cold Tanner BORDERLINI with
us here on the Payless Slickers hot line, seven am
on a Monday.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
What is your Monday routine?

Speaker 8 (22:50):
I had it in Now I'm about to get some treatment.
You know, he'll up whatever. You know, not feeling great, but.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
I think everything always feels a little better after a win.

Speaker 5 (22:58):
But I'll get healed up, get a lift in, hit
some meetings, watching it, watch.

Speaker 8 (23:02):
The film, break it down to what I can improve on,
just personally going through the next week, because I think
you know, it's about getting better week to week. See
when we get improved upon every game, winner, lose, and
then just enjoy the rest of the day.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
Tanner, Why do you think this offense is performing and
executing at such a high level right now? What's been
the key?

Speaker 3 (23:21):
I think it's just everyone doing their job right now.

Speaker 8 (23:24):
We have eleven guys that know if I can do
my job, we have tremendous talent at all those other
positions where those ten other guys are going to do
some great things if I give them the opportunity to.
And everyone buying in every week, every game plan. I
don't think there's a single week where guys are preparing different.
You know, there's key consistencies, been at a premium, and

(23:45):
I think guys just really being focused and wanting our
offense to keep excelling the way it is so.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
Tanner, Obviously, as a center, you touched the ball more
than anybody else. How much more comfortable do you feel
this year being a full time starter versus last year
as a rookie, just trying to make sure that you,
I don't know, I don't mess up at the NFL level.

Speaker 8 (24:06):
I think you know, you just kind of embraced that
this is like my position, my spot now, and.

Speaker 5 (24:12):
I think you just do. You do feel a little
more comfortable just you know, you're you're playing.

Speaker 8 (24:15):
With those guys in practice every day, You're getting all
the reps with them. You're going to be the guy
at that spot. So I think that confidence is there.
You're just more comfortable just having stacked.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
And had all those reps of those guys that are
around you.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
A number sixty for the colts. Channer BORDERLINI with us
here on the Payless Slickers hot line seven to one.
Start here in this twenty twenty five season, Tanner you
shared with us. I think it was on Zoom last
week about kind of what you witness and the Daniel
Jones Chanstiken relationship on a weekly basis for our audience
that maybe didn't hear that, what do you see from
those two Monday through Saturday? And I guess I point

(24:52):
out Saturday because I believe you do sit behind those
two on road trips as well.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
You know, just getting to see the way they talk
to each other.

Speaker 8 (25:01):
You know, how invested they both aren't winning.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
How on the same page about the.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
Game plan they are like on the plane, I'll.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Beat behind those two in the whole flight.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
You know, we're in a four hour flight to LA.
They're both throwing through.

Speaker 5 (25:11):
Stuff, talking about, Hey, here's what I think we.

Speaker 8 (25:14):
Can get on this situation, this play if we get discoveraged,
you know, here's what I think would be a good call,
you know. And I think it really shows once we
get the game time that they both know when this
play comes in, here's what we're thinking, Here's what we
want to do, Here's what we want to achieve. And
I think that's a really important part of why this
offense has been the way it has.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Who can eat the most in the offensive line room?

Speaker 8 (25:36):
Man, we got a lot of guys that are up there.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
I would say, Braiden.

Speaker 8 (25:40):
If you get Braiden on the right day, he can
he can demolished some food. He has probably had the
biggest breakfast I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
What is that?

Speaker 4 (25:49):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (25:51):
I assume it's plates plurally, but what does that look like?

Speaker 8 (25:55):
So he he'll have seven over easy eggs, seven pancakes,
and then uh, he like the biggest bowl of fruit
you've ever seen. I'm talking like it'd be like another plate,
you know, piled highway fruit. I mean, it's unreal how
much you can put down?

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Is that daily or this game day?

Speaker 3 (26:17):
I mean, honestly, it's daily for breakfast.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
That's what he knocks out. He said he's a seven
over easy.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Egg guy, which I think is an.

Speaker 5 (26:23):
Insane amount of over easy eggs.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
But I love Brandon, but he could put that down
like no other.

Speaker 7 (26:30):
Tanner aside from the dieting, I think the seven pancakes.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
Yeah, damn. I'm just like, how are we the same species?

Speaker 7 (26:38):
Right?

Speaker 5 (26:39):
You know?

Speaker 7 (26:39):
Two eggs over easy? Probably as much as I got,
you know, for for my uh you know, buck fifty frame.

Speaker 8 (26:46):
I'm with you on that, two or three maybe seven's
that's a man's number.

Speaker 7 (26:49):
I guess Tanner, speaking of beyond just I guess the
dieting expertise of your teammate, Uh, Tony Fronto Junior, your
offensive line coach. How much is he meant to you
and that room, because from the sounds of it talking
to you and others, he'll love you up. But he

(27:10):
also won't sugarcoat anything.

Speaker 8 (27:12):
No, He's been huge, and I think that's a great
way to do it. I feel like you always know
what he's telling you is true and it's what he
actually means.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
And I think it's a great thing for a coach
to have.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
And again, as a player, you won't you it's not.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Always going to be perfect.

Speaker 8 (27:25):
You understand that, but if you take the coaching for
what it is, I think you can grow a lot
from it as a player. And it makes our group
a lot better because I think we all see that
the same way, where look, we know we're not going
to be perfect. It might not always be what you
want to hear, but sometimes it's what you need to hear.
And he does a really great job but you know,
telling you what you need to do better, but loving

(27:47):
you up on the things you do well and then
just having us ready for games.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
He does a phenomenal job.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Does he have an inside voice sometimes he.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Also has an outside you know, he's.

Speaker 8 (27:57):
Got a little bit of both, but he finds that
happy medium of you know, don't how to coach?

Speaker 2 (28:03):
Each got tanner last one for me, and we really
appreciate your time here on this Monday morning. Do you
have a favorite Jonathan Taylor run from this season?

Speaker 8 (28:12):
I mean that eighty yard one was just pretty electric.
There there are so many great ones though that, like,
I mean, this is a really good problem to have,
you know, I really can't choose one. I feel like
every week there's one where I'd like, that was unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
But that's just the kind of runner as he is.
He gives you something like that weekend.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Week out all right, the Braden Smith played Eddie, that's unreal,
seven over easy eggs, seven pancakes And to hear him
describe that plate to fruit, it sounds quite large.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
No chance I could handle the seven pancakes.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
No way.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Like I get frustrated and you go these you know whatever,
you know, these breakfast plates, and I am like.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Probably more of a breakfast person.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Oh me too, I don't need the three pancakes, yeah,
like just you might as well give me the box
right now.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
That's why you need to do the two by two
by two if they have that or they you know whatever.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Can I allo cart one pancake you might.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Be able to do that, or you can all of
KRT like silver dollar pancakes, you.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Know, sure, sure, yeah, that works there so and boy
Aleca Brainsmith, I think there's an ounce of body fat
on that body there.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Big one for him coming up this weekend.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
DJ Watt, We've got some Twitter questions to get to.
Are you ready for them?

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Let's do it?

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Got three of them, starting with King. First, I want
to say Andrew Luck has officially transferred full custody of
the Titans to Jonathan Taylor. I'd like to throw in, Kevin.
I asked you at the end of the podlast Wednesday.
Can to keep the streak last three games? Three touchdowns
against Tennessee?

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Now?

Speaker 4 (29:41):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Also?

Speaker 4 (29:42):
Shane Steichen undefeated against Tennessee. Here is King's question, Taylor
is the best running back in Colts history right now?
Two or false? King leans toward that statement being true.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
The fact that he can ask that is amazing. Yeah,
I mean the Colts have one of the richest running
back histories of any franchise in the league.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Yeah, the richest.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
I you know, I kind of feel this historically about
the Colt running backs Eric Dickerson and Marshall Falk were
better elsewhere. Now Edgrid James is the real combo, and
I don't want to forget who Edgerriend James was right,
But I think Jonathan Taylor is in a lane and

(30:26):
he's driving Cam Jones speed and he's catching up the edge.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
Okay for those that don't know Cam Jones and rookie
for the Pacers gut pulled over for going ninety down
the highway here last week.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
He's on a path that canton Jonathan Taylor, and he
sees Edge in front of him and he's humming.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
So I.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
It's an unbelievable first six years in the NFL. It
is on a Canton like trajectory. I get that he
has taken some growth as a third down player. Let's
not forget what Edgriend James did early in his career
as a blocker and as a receiver.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
And so.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah, I have. I mean, I've always been a huge,
huge edge guy. So I don't know. I found weird
at the age of thirty six, being like, well, just
to make sure our youngsters still remember Trin James.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
But the fact that the statement of question couldn't even
be asked, Like, I love the thought because it makes
me think, But I also realize that you're discrediting a
bus that's already in Canton and one that you can
start to think about being in Canton. It's just like
unfair to do to either of them. But yeah, unbelievable.
We don't have a question about this. So I'll ask

(31:32):
you this. Should he be you know, in the top
three top five for MVP? Yeah, thank you for bringing
this up. Okay, so this is my MVP rant and
I've probably given something along these lines before. Is MVP
the acronym or is it best player?

Speaker 4 (31:47):
I think in today's world it's best player.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
Well, that's not how they vote on it. They vote acronym.
We haven't had a running back win since Adrian Peterson.
Are you telling me Derek Henry wasn't the best player
in the NFL one of those years? It is the acronym,
that's how we vote on it. That's why I was
so happy to see Travis Hunter when the Heisman last year.
I'm like, thank you, that is the best player. So
let's start there. If you're going to go play a

(32:10):
football game Sunday in Pittsburgh, you rather have a mir
Abdullah Beer starting running back or Riley Leonard Beier starting quarterback.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
I'd probably I would rather have a mirror Abdullah be
my running back exactly.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
I don't think it's a fair KMDP valuable. How valuable
are you to the team, Daniel Jones more valuable Jonathan Taylor. Yes,
there's no debating that. But the best player is Jonathan Taylor.
He just happens to play a position that isn't super
valued in the league. And there's more drop off from
starting quarterback to backup in this league than there is

(32:43):
starting running back to backup running back. Hell, the Colts
have ed Jonathan Williams run for one hundred yards, you know,
when Taylor's miss games or you know whoever was missing
May of that was Marlon Mack. But anyways, that's where
I get in this argument of like, Okay, what does
MVP truly make. If it's the acronym, then you might
as well just call it a quarterback award. But if

(33:05):
it's the best player. Now, we talked Jonathan Taylor, and
we talked Puku Nakua before he got hurt, and we
talk you know whatever, b Jeon Robinson if he can,
you know, put up more of those numbers, or hal
Miles Garrett, if if he played for any other team
not named the Browns, that's where I think it's really
really difficult with these awards, and I guess maybe that's

(33:27):
why we have Offensive Player.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
Of the Year award.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
I should say it's more of like a blend of
the two. Are you the are you the best player
on the best team, thus making you the most valuable?

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Well, I mean now we're getting into some semantics with it.
Like to me, the Heisman Trophy has turned into before
Hunter had turned into are you a quarterback on a
top ten team that can chew gum? Like you didn't
really even have to put up that good at numbers. Yeah,
just if you you know, if you had a great
defense and whatever, a nice skilled player and you were

(33:58):
the quarterback, you were sitting in.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Front row in New York for the Heisman trovies heremony.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
I was team Ashton gent last year, so Jens or Hunter.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
And you know that was one too, right if I'm
not a second, Yeah, I don't think cam Ward was
that high, so you know, but like I remember, Bejon
finished like ninth in the Heisman voting at Texas, and
it's like really like and we'll see whe Jeremiah Love
finishes this year. Like to me, he is certainly deserving
of at least an invite to New York. So that's
where I get frustrated again on But you're also biased, Kevin, Well, certainly,

(34:29):
But in this instance, what does MVP mean? Like, Jonathan
Taylor has been on this football team for a couple
of different years, and I get these battled injuries, but
the Cold Ti haven't looked like this.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
It goes to show you just how much quarterback means.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
Yeah, as of right now, on one particular sportsbook, it's Mahomes,
Alan May, Stafford Love Jones, goth Mayfield, Taylor.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Yeah, i'mbolic. I haven't watched my which of much in
New England, but Drake May has been incredible.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
Oh, it's been fantastic. Outside of the one game in Pittsburgh, dude,
it has been as good as it comes. Right in
the NFL Twitter question number two is from Cameron. That's
so media saying the Colts haven't played anyone, But how
massive is it to be six and zero against the
AFC money in the bank for seeding slash tiebreakers? And

(35:24):
this is me in putting something here, Kevin. To Cameron's point,
the Denver Broncos have only lost two games and the
Chargers are a competent team. What do you mean they
haven't played anybody.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Well, and I'll say that's how big was that Broncos win? Baby?

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Right?

Speaker 1 (35:40):
What was the penalty leverage? Leaping?

Speaker 4 (35:43):
I'm just kidding. Leaping was the Monday nine.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Game eeping with Simon Rice?

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (35:46):
Yeah, leverage. I mean, I'll go back what I said
to lead off the show. Winning home games, you know,
and one of the longest playoff drouts in the NFL.
Right now, you were four games under five hundred at home.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Yeah, in that stretch.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
So you know, as far as the last part is concerned,
you know, in terms of whatever national media sancles, I'm
played in one, okay whatever, Yes, to your point, Denver
and the Chargers, the Rams. I We're about to see
a shift in schedule, and it's mostly in location, to

(36:21):
be honest with you. I mean it's definitely in composition
as well. But like I want to say, six of
your last nine are away from home. I'm trying to
think what your home games are? Home games, Houston, San Francisco. Yeah,
so you know again you don't play home games laughter.
Thanksgiving football, by the way, for San Francis, right, it's
your only home game between now and now in December

(36:44):
twenty second, which is kind of crazy.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
So because they lose the home game to Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Yeah, so I am ready to see the shift and
like you are going up a wrong on the ladder now,
I want to be clear, just because you're going up
with a wrong on the ladder doesn't mean like the
course should be discredited for what.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
They've done on the other rungs.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Yeah, Like no, they've done things that a they don't
usually do and be many teams don't usually do you know.
I'll go back to that point differential stat that throughout
you a few weeks ago, through.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
The first x amount of weeks of the year. But
like these types.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
Of games are more January like on the horizon, you know,
particularly you know at Kansas City or at Seattle or
you know, whatever Jacksonville's going to be.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
We'll see exactly what San Francisco looks like when you
get to them.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
But I'm just kind of looking forward to it, Like
I don't know, do you ever have this nervous energy
for your team ady of like you know you're a
huge Reds fan. Yeah, it's like facing whatever the cubs
of the Brewers in a series. Yep, sure you'd rather
play the bottom feeder. There's a part of you, but
as a fan you're like, no, no, no, I circle

(37:52):
that one a little bit more and yeah, we might
lose it, or it might be more nerve wracking, or
it might be harder to win. But like, that's being
a competitor. And that's kind of how I feel about
the shift of the schedule starting now. It's like, all right,
here we go. You know, it's a little bit more
of let's put the big boy pants on and not
much of a why are the Colts and Titans at

(38:13):
four to twenty five? Because that's the only question I
got last week from people.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
I'm not aware of this to wor Kevin, So if
you can explain it to me. This is the final
question of the Twitter question portion of the podcast for today.
It's from Turp. I know it's more than likely going
to end up being a quote best Tackle Award, but
where are your thoughts on Big Q getting the first
Protector of the Year award.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Yeah, I'm not super familiar on the history of it,
but you know, I know in college they do the
Joe Moral Award for the best offensive line, you know,
to me the Colts should.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Be right up there, and I was glad.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
You know, I thought to myself, you know, the Colts
Jonathan Taylor is not necessarily the greatest whatever radio interview.
So I was thinking to myself as the game moved on, Hey,
you know who would be good to kind of talk
about this Colts offensive success. And I hope you guys
enjoyed Tanner because I didn't think he's a great voice,
and frankly, I think he deserves credit. I was glad
to see CBS featured him a little bit there on

(39:10):
the Tyler Warren screen and the great block that he had,
because you know what he has done, what Tony Sprownter
junior's position coach, has done. And really one thing that's
been so key I haven't talked about at all, Pod,
but I'll sneak it in here, Eddie, just your overall
health of your O line.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
I mean, correct if I'm wrong.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
But the only game you've lost this season is the
only game your on line hasn't been intact. Right, was
that gonzolves his toe injury against the Rams?

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Yeah, I mean I'm pretty sure that's right.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
I believe it's the only game missed. So again, it
just kind of goes to show to you what obviously
a good offensive line, but also a healthy offensive line
means to your football team. There, So yeah, I think
more than just just Nelson.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Honestly, anything else you'd like to have that a word.
By the way, was just introduced in twenty twenty five,
So this is year number two for it.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
Got it?

Speaker 4 (40:05):
Actually no, this was year number one. I'm an idiot.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Oh well, I'm not super familiar with.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
All these awards here, but it's the.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
NFL Honor Show, doesn't program itself.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
Yeah, it was introduced for the twenty twenty five season,
recognizing the league's best offensive lineman. The award aims to
shine a light on the critical role of offensive lineman
in the game, who often received little recognition outside of
Pro Bowl and All Pro nods. The winner will be
determined by a panel of former offensive line greats, and
the award is seen as a long overdue recognition for

(40:38):
the work of these players.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
He is Eddi Garrison. I am Kevin Bowen. Thank you
for listening to Colts Corn with myself, Kevin Bowen. We'll
be back Wednesday. Previeum Colts Steelers and a little NFL
trade deadline,
