The comedy4cast network. Let's dog ear that for now.
(00:08):
This is comedy4cast, Episode 823. And then there was this one.
It's time once again for the Dog Days of Podcasting. For more information and

Let's get started with Odd News Plus.
(00:32):
Since this is the last day of Dog Days of Podcasting, it's time to wrap up the
2024 run of Odd News Plus.
But before I put bubble wrap around the expensive neon sign I made for the show.
Which in hindsight made no sense for an audio podcast, and it's so bright.
Where was I? Oh, right. I thought I'd read you the headlines of some of the
(00:55):
stories that I didn't cover this year.
For instance, this headline caught my attention.
6,101 pieces of history.
Brazilian owns world's largest shirt collection. It turns out they're all soccer or football shirts.
Sports! This headline said, Champagne-filled shipwreck found by Polish divers.
(01:15):
I thought that made it sound like the ship itself had been guzzling champagne
and then forgot how to stay afloat.
Again, these are the headlines that grabbed my attention.
Theodore Roosevelt's stolen pocket watch returns to his home after more than
three decades. not returned like someone brought it back, but returns like it
(01:36):
crawled there on its own asymmetrical hands.
This one was a bit disappointing. Tank falls off flatbed trailer on Texas Highway.
No one was hurt, by the way. Apparently the tank just slid off the trailer and
they had to put it back on.
But I had visions of the tank falling off the trailer on an overpass and commuters
looking up to see this tank falling from the sky like a new asset spawning in
(01:58):
a game. New Orleans restaurant put cicada salad on menu. Kind of self-explanatory, right?
Sometimes I thought whoever wrote the headline was making some strange assumptions.
Emu found wandering loose in Virginia City. How do you know the emu was just
wandering? It might have had a very specific goal in mind.
Some were just too obvious. Hockey game breaks out after 40-car pileup outside Montreal.
(02:23):
And some seemed interesting at first, like restaurant sues customer after he
left $3,000 tip on a $13 meal.
It's a pretty complicated story, and someone was out a lot of money. Pass.
I'm not sure if that old Twitter account, SavedYouAClick, is still around,
but here's a headline. line, man who dropped GoPro into ocean finds terrifying
(02:46):
object with people urging him to make emergency call immediately.
It was an old sea mine. Saved you a click.
This one sounded more like a case Detective Haartte would get. Tracking down the
asteroid that sealed the fate of the dinosaurs.
Leave no stone unturned, Haartte, even if it's from outer space.
Some would have worked better with a visual. For instance, groundhog found inside
(03:09):
claw machine at Pennsylvania Mini mini golf course.
Or, Ontario Premier tells residents, don't be pooping on the beach.
Um, maybe no visual on that one. The wording on this one seemed off to me.
Francis Ford Coppola, Grateful Dead, and Apollo Theatre among 2024 Kennedy Center honorees.
(03:30):
I had visions of Coppola, the ghost of Jerry Garcia, and the actual Apollo Theatre
sitting inside the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Remains of ancient papal palace believed to have been found in Rome. What are the odds?
Pennsylvania Market asks public to name its new tent. Can you guess one of the names?
(03:52):
If you guessed Tenty McTentface, give yourself five points.
Oh, and it was a finalist too. And this last one came in just a little too late to cover.
German woman poses as empress of made-up kingdom, to mingle with Italian socialites.
The good news is, there's always more odd news.
(04:12):

But if you subscribe, you'll always know what's up. Oh, and one last thing. The 20 lab mice?
(04:35):
They were all part of the show. They're all right here. Say goodbye. Goodbye!
That about wraps it up for today's Odd News Plus.
A big thanks to the comedy4cast patrons for helping make this show possible.
