Speaker 2 (00:01):
You can do this, you do my.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Oh hello there, Internet's welcome to issue six hundred and
eleven of Comiccasts. I'm Michael Carroll, Nojong lead today. He
is sick. I blame baby Joey. It was all her fault,
who just turned one. Happy birthday, Joey. But you got
my co host sick. I'm just saying, so, no song.

(00:57):
But that's okay because I have a friend the podcast
coming back. It's been a while since he's been on.
We were talking about it in Instagram, DM like, wow,
it's been a while. I didn't realize how long it's been.
But Andrew Cruise of the Cruising Podcast is back, returning
to Comicast. Andrew, how are you?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Oh, I'm good. How I'm doing very well. Michael was glad, glad,
just here, glad to be back. Sorry John for you
getting sick. Hopefully you get well soon, very.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Soon, hopefully hopefully so we'll see crossing fingers that his
immune system kicks in.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
We're going to cross fingers toes and you know, everything
else and make sure that you and baby Joey are good.
Happy birthday to baby Joey by the way, too. But
you know, Michael called me from the bench. He said, uh,
he looked at I was looking at him from the bench.
He was like, hey, yeah, time for you to come in, Andrew.
And I was like, all right, I'm ready, coach. What's ready?
So it's just you know, six man in a year

(01:54):
or eighth, ninth or ten, but it doesn't matter. I'm
always ready. I'm a superstar in my role.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
You, Andrew, you are a superstar. You're a superstar to me.
And I did. I was like, I was like pat
Riley or or Eric Spolsure or something. I just looked
at you and I just pointed and then you knew
you knew it was dam On.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yeah. Always, I'm always always ready to stay ready, So
you're always ready.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
I appreciated Andrew. And for folks that may have not
caught your last appearance, because it's like we said, it's
been a while. I forgot to look up when you
were last on, but it's been a while since you've
been on. Catch up people that maybe don't know, they're
tuning into comic casts for the first time. What is
cruising podcast What do you.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Do cruising podcasts? It's really just a swortman of things.
But mostly I talk about movie cv shows, but my
biggest passion has been anime and comic books. Pretty much
all nerves subjects is really what I'm into, and so
that's what the Cruising Podcast is mostly about. It's just

(03:00):
talking about different animes I've watched, especially my favorite ones,
and we did go through a little bit of a
mental health cycle, but now we're just really strictly going
through nerd subjects for sure.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
And I think that's the thing with Cruising Podcast is
that you will turn two deeper subjects like that, because
I'm trying to remember way back when when you first
were starting to come on, I feel like you were
doing a special series that had more of a historical
angle to it, if I remember correctly.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Oh yeah, that was a cruising around the world I
was doing talking about Black history different like different events
and different people. I definitely need to get back to
doing that because I actually really do enjoy it. It's
just a lot of research, and sometimes I just don't
have time to do all that research.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
I understand, I get it, but we're very busy people nowadays.
Oh yes, Well, for folks again, go check out the
Cruising Podcast. It's available wherever you get your podcasts. Uh
do you when do you typically release?

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (04:09):
We it's week to week right, yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
It's about weekly. So I got to on YouTube normally
try to get it out maybe Tuesday or Wednesday, and
then also on Patreon that just varies between the days
and what subjects and we'll talk about that day for sure.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
And what's the patreon? Is it just at Cruising podcast.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
YEP, at Cruising Podcasts, cr e ws I n podcast.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
And then I always like to mention this whenever you're
on because you unlike Jong, who's oh I got kids
and I can't play video games like I used to.
You still play video games as well as I. Do
you stream a little bit? Right?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Oh? Yeah, I stream on a twitch. That one is U.
I have so many names.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
There's so many names to keep up with. I understand.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Nice Down. I think it's nice down, Underscore Finance twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I think that's right. I think that's right. Yeah, as well,
go check out your streams. I know you've been streaming
or the last I saw it was like Call of Duty, right?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Oh yeah, Call of Duty has definitely been like my
biggest streaming.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Are you are you excited for Black Ops seven? When
it comes out, and like a month or so.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
It's like, you know, you just go back for the pain.
I just I guess I'm a masochist. For Call of Duty.
It's like my Walking Dead thing. I have to watch
everything walking Dead. It might be bad, but you know
we're here. I started it. Now I got to finish it.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
I understand, I get it. I used to be in that,
in that realm only because my friend Albert, who used
to work here at ESPN ninety seventy five and all
that in gal media, me in kicking and screaming into
Black Ops two and I really enjoyed it. Don't get
me wrong. I prestiged on that like that was fun.
But then ever since it's it's been hit or missed

(06:10):
for me and Call of duty terms, and I have
now I have to announce it. I have retired from
Call of Duty playing I The jersey's up in the rafters,
even though I sucked at it, but still it's up.
It's it's done. I can't do it anymore.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
You know what, you gotta know when it's time to
call it quits. Me I don't know. I don't I
don't know when I'm like Brett farr In. It's it's like,
you know, I just don't know when to quit our
Tom Brady. I mean, I don't want to call myself
a goat, but you know, I just, you know, I
don't know when to quit.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Hey, you keep winning, you keep winning. I kept getting destroyed.
So I was like, you know what, it's time. It's time.
I went from averaging like fifteen or you know, eighteen,
to averaging like to a game. And you know, it
was like, you know what, this ain't fun. I'm gonna
just recall it a call it quit now. But we're
not here to talk about call of Duty all the time.
I promise people are like, what did we tune into?

(07:06):
We're here because as always comic ASTs, we're gonna be
talking about Alien Earth and Peacemaker. We're doing our ongoing reviews.
I hit up Andrew. I's like, are you watching these
and Andrew you were like, yes, I am so perfect.
We'll get into episode three of Peacemaker and Alien Earth
episode five here in a little bit. We do have

(07:26):
a little bit of news right at the beginning that
I want to get to right before we get to
our spoiler reviews. But first, as always, you can follow
us on social media. I'm at producer Mike nine seven
five Jong is that one punch? Andrew? Remind the people
where they can follow you again on social.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Media, I'm at the Cruising Podcasts on Instagram and also
a nice down find us on Twitter or at Twitter.
We saw Twitter here, right.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yeah, we still say Twitter here. You're good of course,
wherever you are listening to this. If you're on your
podcast app choice, give us a rating or review. That
would be cool. We would really appreciate it. You can
also listen to a version of this podcast on ESPN
ninety seven to five and ninety two to five Wednesday
nights at nine pm. So, Andrew the thing I wanted

(08:15):
to bring up because the news came out late last week,
and again we'll get to Alien Earth and Peacemaker here shortly.
But James Gunn, as he does, he posts a lot
on social media and what a shock. He posted some
more last week with some pretty big news in that
he has revealed that a Superman sequel, kind of a sequel,

(08:39):
kind of not called Man of Tomorrow will be in
theaters July ninth, twenty twenty seven. And with the announcement,
he had an image of Superman with Lex Luthor. In
the Lex Luthor is wearing the warsuit armor, the powersuit
armor that he wears to be able to fight Superman,

(09:00):
the green coloring. What's interesting, too, is that it wasn't
just him that made this announcement. It was also Nicholas
Holt and David Cornsweat, who also basically posted the same thing,
but the images that they used were a little different.
It's still Superman and Lex Lex being in the power suit,
but in one image they're fighting, another one they're not,

(09:23):
and then the one with James Gunn, it's more of
like kind of almost like like friendly with Clark or Superman,
kind of smiling with a screwdriver and leaning up next
to Lex Luthor. So we have Man of Tomorrow, but
it's also being described by James Gunn as more of

(09:45):
the next part of the Superman saga. It's not necessarily
Superman two, which was a little confusing to me, to
be honest with you, Andrew, I'm like, it's not Superman two,
so I don't know. But as he described it on Threads,
all of it just in necessary and lengthy in regards

(10:08):
to what he was doing writing. He said just in
the necessary and lengthy stage of rewriting and rewriting some more.
It's been a lot of fun trying to get some
done now before Peacemaker errors, because we like to watch
it as soon as it comes out. The person asked,
have you completed Man of Tomorrow writing? And he's, of
course saying he's rewriting currently. And then someone asked if

(10:29):
Lois would be important for Man of Tomorrow. He said, yes,
she would. Someone said, hey, there's some weird concerns about
this R rated DCU project shouldn't be the main direct
tie in to the main share arc with Superman and
Man of Tomorrow, which are obviously PG. Thirteen. And you
have said it many times that you don't have to

(10:50):
watch Peacemaker season two to understand Superman or Man of Tomorrow. Correct,
like shared universe aspects are just more context to that
individual story. James Gunn said, that's right, as I've said
countless times. You can watch every project by itself, of course,
just like you can watch Peacemaker by itself or watch
Superman without seeing Creature Commandos. But Man of Tomorrow and

(11:11):
Peacemaker season two are very, very connected. So it's been
talked about that. Episodes five through eight of Peacemaker season
two are really crazy, and that's where we get to
maybe the strong tie ends as to why he's saying
it's so connected to this Man of Tomorrow movie. I

(11:32):
guess let me back up with all this information dump
and just say, Andrew, what did you think of the announcement.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
I think that, first of all, it's cool that it's
like he's directly already saying, look, this is when Superman's
coming out. It's probably gonna get pushed back no matter what.
I don't see it happen in a year or the
date that's happening. But he, to me, I love the
Superman like the Superman movie. I feel like it was

(12:02):
a really a good, good first edition to I guess
his DC is a DCU projects, and I love that,
you know, Superman is like finally, he felt hopeful this
time around, like it felt like a really just a

(12:23):
I don't know how to really explain it, but yeah,
he felt a lot more hopeful this time instead of
like destruction and things like that. And for Man of
Tomorrow it looked like I'm hearing two different things. I've
seen that him and Lex are going to be fighting
someone and they haven't, you know, they don't know who yet.
And then I guess it's just another one where I

(12:44):
guess Lex finally gets the power suit and he's gonna
fight Superman. And I've also been reading a little bit
that he hinted that something may not pop up until
episode eight of a Peacemaker that's shows us the direct
high I just don't like that he's not saying that
this is a direct sequel to Superman. It just doesn't

(13:07):
make any sense. While it's just gonna be like an
anthology type series like with these movies, and then somehow
everything culminates, but you're still having continuity between Superman and Peacemaker.
It's just I just need to I need more clarification
on like what his direction is with these these dc

(13:30):
DCU movies, because are they just going to be their
own standalone movies or it's just telling a story like
Marvel was doing for ten years. It's just that direction.
That's the only thing I kind of need right now
to figure out what's going on with this.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yeah, with with James and the DCU, it's it's interesting
because I was talking to who is it, Sean Tajapor
of Nerd Tropolis. We were at a screening together and
he was saying he was kind of like mixed on
this whole DCU stuff because of what one of the
commenters said to James Gunn on social media about like,

(14:08):
you know, some stuff is al rated, but then this
stuff is PG thirteen, So how is it, you know,
the balancing of tone and all that. And then, like
you said, Superman very very hopeful and very much a
departure from what we had seen with the Zack Snyder stuff.
I mean, Zach, I don't want to get into the
weeds on the Zack Snyder stuff, but you know, obviously

(14:28):
there was hope, but it was different in the whole thing.
We've talked about that at lengths here on the Comiccast
a lot, but you know, it's it's a different feel
that we got this time around than what we've got previously.
And so the tone, what's the tone going to be
for this deal, and what's the tone going to be
for the overarching story? There is supposedly an overarching story

(14:52):
that we are going to get with the DCU based
off what he said previously, but I also don't know that.
I don't I don't want it to sound like I'm
saying he's lying, but I also think that just the
plan is changing in that you know, when when James
Gunn was initially announced way back in what was that

(15:12):
twenty twenty one or whatever, you know, he had that
video where it was like, we got ten projects and
it was the Authority and Superman and Supergirl and Swamp
Thing and this and that, and you know of those
where we've only seen Superman and we've only seen Supergirl
and Creature Commandos and of course Peacemaker, but we don't

(15:35):
know we know about Lanterns as well, but some of
the other stuff is kind of still on the back burner.
We still don't have a Batman for this world as
of yet. There's still a lot of stuff up in
the air with the overarching narrative of whatever DC is
trying to do. And it's surprising to me that this
pseudo sequel pseudo not sequel, you know, who knows what

(15:57):
to say what to make of that, that we're gonna
get that sooner than a Batman, Brave in the Bold,
or you know, just any of these other DC projects
to establish more of these characters. It does feel like
I already lived in world. Obviously, that's we've talked about
that with Superman and Peacemaker and everything, but there's still

(16:18):
some key characters that I feel like you need to
introduce into this world that we may not get until
like twenty twenty eight, twenty twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
It's crazy that we were getting a quote unquote Superman.
See we know about a Superman se quot quote unquote,
but we, like you said before, we don't even have
a We don't even know who Batman's gonna who's gonna
play Batman? And uh, we're hearing I've seen different people
come up as Batman, and I'm actually kind of excited

(16:50):
if it does happen. But when when are we're gonna
When are we going to do this like the Gods
and what was it? The Gods and Monsters? Like you
said the first ten projects that you talk talked about,
we still haven't had anything about the Miss Scare movie,
the Miss Scare Show, the Authority. We only got one
Authority two Authority members that we've seen so far. And

(17:12):
then Creature Commandos is I think I like to show myself.
I really did enjoy it, but we haven't established any
other hero like you said, we and then we do
have a Lantern's show coming out. We don't know who
if we're going to have a wonder Woman and maybe
a Awquaman, but we know that there is a Supergirl

(17:32):
movie coming out, and and Lobo is coming to coming
to the big screen too. Well. I just rather like,
can we just get a Batman.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
First, so I know I know what's going on?

Speaker 2 (17:46):
Because you know, if thiss y'all first time hearing me,
I'm a huge Batman fan and so that that's pretty
much what I was here for is for Batman. I
want to see who he's going to do, because I
like James Guns and he's directing a movie because he's
really good with an ensemble, and I feel like he
can really portray the bat family in a very specific

(18:08):
and cool way, and I just want to see that now.
But it's just, you know, I know, Superman is like
the most popular in DC sometimes, and to have two
movies before you have a even just a we see
anyone else's kind of I don't know. I just I've

(18:31):
never been a Superman fan either, so it's just like.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Not the biggest Superman I understand. I understand, and I did,
and I was like, you know, it's like Man, we're
getting two we I mean, to be fair, Marvel did
do two Ironman project. We did see Incredible Hulk in
the middle, so it's not like apples to apples comparison.
But we did have two Ironman movies before we had
Captain America and Thor. But still it is surprising that

(18:58):
in this shared universe we're gonna see Superman, Supergirl, a
Man of Tomorrow, which is still a Superman saga if
you will. But I guess I think it's the wording
of everything Superman saga versus Gods and Monsters chapter one,
like do we have sagas in chat? Like, I don't know.

(19:19):
I don't know how this is gonna work. Whatever it is,
I still enjoyed Superman, don't get me wrong. I think
it's just the overarching narrative and stuff we'll see from
project to project how that develops further. Now, going back
to what you said about like reading about the warsuit
and everything, and how you know, there's different theories out
there of what all this could mean. Obviously, for sure

(19:42):
one thing, it seems like we're finally gonna get live
action Les in the Power Suit that we've seen in comics,
that we've seen in animation. We're finally gonna get that
in Man of Tomorrow. But again, what does that Man
of Tomorrow mean? Is it directed towards Superman or is
it directed towards Lex, because as some have theorized, it's

(20:03):
minor spoilers for the end of Superman, by the way,
but at the end of that movie, you know, Superman
has this big final plea that there is still some
humanity left in Lex. So is it something where he
turns a corner and we see Lex kind of come around,
or is he going to continue to be just the
irredeemable person that we've seen in the past, and he's

(20:29):
just gonna just fight him and they have to come
together to fight something else, you know? Is it? Is
it like, is it basically the equivalent of Godzilla versus
Kong where it's Lex versus Superman, but then parasite or
something shows up and they have to fight them together.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
Yeah, exactly, or like you have my brainiac or somebody
coming down that they have a common enemy.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
I just.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
To know this is coming out in two years. I
feel like a little quick for this type of sequel,
and I Like I said, I really don't think it's
gonna come out in two years, as much as as
much as that would be great, I guess, but it's
just you have to write so much and then also

(21:17):
also do all the filming and things. I don't think
to two years. I just don't don't seem like a
good timeline. It seems rushed, yeah to me.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
But I do wonder if he's like so gung ho
about it that he's because you know, he doesn't he
doesn't green light things until they have a proper screenplayer
and a proper script and everything. So I wonder if
he's just been so gung ho about this whole story
that he has in his head that he just fast
tracked it, you know what I mean, Like he just
cause I imagine, if you're releasing in summer twenty twenty seven,

(21:49):
July ninth, twenty twenty seven, you're shooting probably early next
year something like that. So I mean, I don't know,
like maybe it's it's gonna track out directly.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
I do go back to the other thought I had
in my head of how the how in the world
are we getting a Superman two before we get shann
Chi too what the what kind of It's been like
five six years. Come on, now, you're killing me.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
We haven't even seen shunk Chi.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
See you know what, I'm gonna see Him'm gonna see
him in what If for Marvel Zombies here shortly, where's
shong ch two. It's gonna be like six seven years
before we get shann Chi two.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
This is crazy. It was a good it's a really
good movie.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
It's so good.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
I love that movie. That came out of left field
for me, I was not ready for the ear that was.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Honestly, that was like one of my first thoughts. It's like, man,
I'm gonna get Man of Tomorrow before I get shung
Chi too. This is insane. This is an insane world.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
We live in. I'm over here worried about Batman.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
I'm worried about shaun Te. I'm just like, give me
my chunk to too. But oh wow, but before we
we completely move on, I do have my little like
little theory and again minor spoilers for Superman. So if
you haven't seen Superman, maybe skip ahead like five minutes

(23:20):
before we get into Peacemaker. And this kind of leads
me into Peacemaker as well. You know, because in Peacemaker,
we're dealing with a different dimension, right, We're dealing with
different alternate realities, and of course we see Peacemaker going
into this alternate reality and living out his fantasy life
in a sense in Peacemaker season two right now, and
you're seeing different characters in other universes. At the end

(23:44):
of Superman, we see Ultraman kind of go off into
a black hole somewhere. But Ultraman, that name means a
lot and when you talk about comics and everything, and
Ultraman is the leader of the Crime Syndicate. In theme,
Syndicate is an alternate version of the Justice League where
they're all very bad people. You know, they're they're very bad,

(24:07):
and in that world, Lex Luthor is the good guy.
So I wonder if Man of Tomorrow is going to
take inspirations from that and make it to where we
see our Lex is still bad and in prison, but
a good Lex comes out the you know, comes out

(24:28):
of a dimension door or something like that, and needs
Superman's help to fight the Crime Syndicate. And maybe we
see that come into play or you know, some characters
or something like that. But we see the heroic version
of Lex in that way rather than just seeing our
Lex come do some sort of truce with Superman.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Not that. Yeah right the check James, there it is
right there, you right there? Uh yeah, that's I like that, Like.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
I have no I have no no notes, no notes.
This is good, no notes.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
I was thinking where you were gonna go if it
was that somehow through like the dimensions, like Bizarro comes out. Yeah,
like we get a Bizarro.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Because that's the other thing too with Ultraman. Is he
is he straight up Ultraman or is he Bizarro? I've
I I think I'm trying to remember when when John
and I talked about it on our review, it felt
more Bizarro. So I wouldn't be shocked if he ends
up being Bizarro. But with the whole like power suit
and everything, and with Lex in prison, maybe Lex isn't

(25:50):
able to just build a power suit. I mean, unless
they they're like Superman needs Lexi's his help, like in
the next one, and he has to go to Nicholas
Holtz Lex Luthor where and he finds a way to
build it from there. But I do wonder if it's
more of just a different version of Lex comes through
in the Power Suit Superman doesn't know what to make

(26:13):
of it at first and fights him. You know, there's
a confusion, and then they have to team up to
fight the new version of Ultraman or something like that,
because you know, you're dealing with black holes in comics.
Maybe Ultraman goes through a transformation in terms of time
dilation and it takes him time, but he becomes smarter

(26:35):
than he was in the Superman movie, or he teams
up with other characters that are smarter that can help lead,
or whatever the case may be. But I wonder if
we're going that route, which would be a very very
different route to go, and I wouldn't be mad about it.
You know, when we were talking about it previously, it
was like, who would you like to see Superman fight
in the sequel? Well, I'd like to see Parasite Metallo,

(26:57):
you know, brainiact something like that. But if we go
this route, I wouldn't be mad at it, you know,
I think it's an interesting different route to take, And
like my basis for a lot of this comes from
the animated version of this story, where Lex is a
hero in in that universe and he comes to the

(27:17):
Justice League universe to get their help, and you know,
maybe it's somewhere along those lines and an adaptation or
taking inspirations from.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
That, I'd be I'd be pretty cool. I like I
like the idea for sure.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Yeah. I Hey, I think so too.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
I like it. I like it not.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
I'm not biased at all.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
I mean yeah, just like I said, James gunn Is
check and we'll write slide to the plank. Check. He's
just sign it up every way you want to want.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
To Michael Carroll for sure, yeah, please please do I
need money, man? So they you know, we're talking about
alternative dimensions and everything that'll lead us. Let's go straight
into Peacemaker episode three, another rick my sleeve. Of course,
if you haven't seen that latest episode of Peacemaker, maybe
tune away for the next I don't know, twenty minutes
or so. As we talk about the episode.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Spoiler alert, spoiler alert, spoiler alert, and wont die.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Things were already crazy in the first couple of episodes,
but things have really like, oh snap, we're really going
here with this whole world. One of the things I
wrote on social media last week was that you never
drink and go through dimension doors, kind of like a
don't drink and drive. You don't drink and go through

(28:43):
dimension doors. And that's what Chris or Chris Smith aka
Peacemaker does. He ends up in this new dimension and
he's living out his best life, though is his fantasy life?
If you will, Andrew, let me back up a little bit.
What did what did you think of? What have you
thought of Peacemaker up until this point, and what do

(29:04):
you think of this episode?

Speaker 2 (29:06):
I think this is they have they have done a
really good job with playing around with the multiverse and
also catching us up on like all everyone's relationships and
things that I think that was. They think they've done
a really good job with that kind of keeping us,
you know, kind of attached to the story normally. I
don't know why everybody's been doing multiverse stuff. But he

(29:29):
actually pulled they're pulling it off right now this episode particularly,
they they really the comedy is so it's so out
of there, but it's my I guess it's my cup
of tea with the comedy, I just I love it.
But overall, I think they did a really good job

(29:49):
with this with this episode, him having to, like you said,
living out his best life and also living with his
brother and his dad actually being like kind of a
superhero family of some sort, so and him really being
a celebrity in this new dimension in him riding around
that dimension. So I think that it's a great It's heartwarming.

(30:16):
It's like it has this you know, it has this
heartwarming part where you know, he's having a conversation with
his brother that he's never actually ever been able to have,
so us being able to see like how it would
have been if his brother lived and his dad was
actually a good person. It's actually pretty it's pretty good.

(30:37):
I like it. And then also him being a really
like a superhero and being respected as a superhero is
pretty pretty good too. I like the like the difference
and how he's reacting to it, for sure.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
But it is like, you know, the peacemaker that is
in our Earth one, if you will, he's going through
a rough go of it, right, his brother was killed.
He accidentally kills his brother when he's a kid, had
to kill his dad. He ends up killing himself. From
a different universe, he's not looked at as a hero.

(31:16):
It seems like, based off what we see now from
this episode and context clues, the woman that he loves
had a friendship or a friend was friends with benefits
relationship with Rick Flagg Junior, and possibly that's why she's
all upset with Chris and can't stand him and hates

(31:39):
him at this point. And maybe that's what we're leading
to in terms of what happened on that boat. This
Chris is going through the worst of it, right, and
now he goes into this new universe and it's perfect.
It's everything that he ever wanted. It's him being marvel

(31:59):
d at as a superhero. It's him being being able
to accomplish those superhero things, as we see in later
in the episode with him taking on the Sons of
Liberty and then having an actual genuine emotional conversation with
Amelia Harcourt the Earth two version or as James Gunn,

(32:19):
and some of them are saying thirst Court, if you will,
instead of Hardcourt, first Court. It's just hilarious, and so
it's it's interesting to see that that change and for
him to be like, oh, I like I could see
Chris making the decision at this point of I'm gonna

(32:40):
stay here because this is perfect for me. I just
got to act like myself, you know, this new version
of myself. I could do that and just live out
my I feel like that's a contemplation he is having
one hundred percent mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Well him walking, well, I don't want to skip too much,
but he's definitely about to be in a word world
have hurt, Oh for sure.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
But I think that he's gonna find out though, that
something's good that's gonna come with a price. For sure,
that what he's doing right now it's cool. You know,
he's living his best life and everything, but it's definitely
gonna come with a price.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Well, it's gonna come with a price. And it's also
maybe it's not the perfect dimension that you think it is,
because there is ongoing theories online because if you watch
that episode, there's one thing that's peculiar, if you will,
and that in every scene when he's in that new world,

(33:42):
when he's going down the street, when he's in argust,
when he's in this and when he's in that it's
only white people. It is he in a world where
his dad the I think it was Red Dragon in
the original version or in Peacemaker season one and this

(34:02):
one he's Blue Dragon. Did his dad and some other
bad people accomplish some things that we don't realize you
know what I mean, Like, is this a bad version
where kind of Nazison everyone out?

Speaker 2 (34:18):
Wow, I did not even notice that.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Yeah, wow, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
He still dresses a dragon too.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Yeah he's still a dragon. And the Sons of Liberty
say something to the effect of or actually I have
it written down. They they when they first take over
the DMV. I didn't realize that was DMV either, but
it's like, of all the buildings you take over, they said, quote,
we the Sons of Liberty are united in fighting our oppressors.

(34:53):
And I was like, uh hmm, that's interesting. And then
again everyone on the street, everyone walking around, they're all
white people, so hmm. Interesting, especially like when you see
Argus in that world, there is no Flurry version. There
is no I forget the character's name, but Sofia Bordeaux, Boudreau,

(35:18):
there's none, nobody, No alternate versions of them are there.
But there is alternate versions of the white people. So
I wonder if James Gunn is setting up Chris to
be the Oh no, what have I done? Because then
on top of that, if you look at it that way,
he murdered the people that are like freedom fighters in

(35:39):
this episode. Yeah he did. He possibly did.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
In some very gruesome ways.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Oh my god. Okay, by the way, and you we
were talking about video games earlier. The guy that got
the pencils in the head that was one hundred percent
Ofdeo game death, Like that was just he comes in,
look like he's trying to investigate where Peacemaker's at. He
says the line where are you? I was like, this

(36:11):
is just an NPC looking around. You're you're watching from
the shadows as this dumb NPC walks around like where
are you? And then gets stabbed with two pencils. Like
that was brutal.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
It wasn't just getting stabbed, was the turning and stuff
like that was a fatal That was a Mortal Kombat fatality. Oh,
I was gonna talk about that too. I was like,
he he thinks he's John Wick, but he uses.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
He was like he's seen John Wick and he was like,
I could do that with two pencils. Stab brutal, brutal.
Even the guy, even the guy that got the axe
to the head and where he was still confused like
what boom dead, that's gonna be a rude awakening once
he were oh no, what have I done.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Yeah, it's wow. Oh it just blew my mind. Wow,
I'm I'm going to not I rewatched it. That's the
crazy one.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
I rewatched it.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
I didn't even notice it.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
It's man, it's it's insane. Like to be fair, I well,
I read about some of these things before going into
it because I didn't have a chance to watch it
until yesterday. We're recording this on Tuesday, September ninth, and
I just haven't had time to watch it until yesterday.
And so I saw some people like there's like no

(37:38):
white there's only white people in this building. And and
I'm watching the episode like oh yeah, there when he's
driving down the street, it's nothing but white people. It's
nothing like oh no, oh no, Chris, You've gone into
a dimension that you shouldn't go into. You you've made
a grave mistake.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
Oh my goodness, was a whiffday.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Oh no, no, I don't yeah, I don't know. I
don't know if it's that, but like it's bad. It
is bad. But this also makes me go, is this
where James Gunn is possibly teasing that there is significant
things that happened because maybe this universe is the crime

(38:20):
Syndicate or something like that. Like, I don't know, that's
just me speculating. I don't I don't know that that's
the that's the case here, but maybe it's a racist
version of the Crime Syndicate or something like that. It
may may not be, but like that would be insane
if it does.

Speaker 2 (38:37):
That's yeah, that's crazy. If that's the case, that would
be oh Man and his best friend is black, so
it's gonna be very yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
Yeah, because we don't see a version of Ada Bio there.
We don't see a version of Flurry there, we don't
see a vert version of Rip Jagger aka Judo Bester there.
I love JOHNA. Kanovis's reaction to that, whose name is
oh Man so hilarious, Hell.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
So good.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
It's so hilarious. And going back to you know, this
is the craziness of this new dimension. We also see
a new version of Rick Flagg Junior, which the return
of Joel Kinneman. I mean from the jump we had
the return of Joel Kinneman, which seemed to be the
version that we see in the Suicide Squad and and

(39:36):
and even this the other Suicide Squad movie before that,
with reference to Enchantress played by Carla de Lavigne. So
we get this. Joel Kenman's back as Rick Flag, but
in this version that I was listening to the official
podcast for Peacemaker and they described him as mealy Rick

(39:57):
where he's like this a little guy, like just trying
to He's not as gravitas, if you will, as the
as the original version of Rick Flag. The funniest moment
is him tripping over the trash can, Jim trying to
hide in the office, tripping over the trash can, and
then he I think, to my understanding, he improvised the

(40:20):
line where he's like, oh that's you know, you should
put it to the big problem. And the way he
says it, it makes James gonna laugh every time. Oh
that he steals the guy, just steals the guy's desk.
It's hilarious.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
I thought, what is the funny way you sitting there
on the desk and just staring.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
At him so funny?

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Hey what are you doing here? Oh goodness it was.
I was like, wow, this is a completely different character.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Yeah, it's it's so it's so so funny. I loved
what allowing Joe Kinneman to do the comedy because you
don't really see him do that type of stuff and
Peacemaker and Suicide Squad where some of his first experiences
in doing comedy. There might be other stuff that I'm forgetting,
but yeah, it's just unlocking his comedic abilities is pretty great.

(41:13):
And I've enjoyed that very much so far in this
in this particular episode, and excited to see where it
goes next, you know. Going back to some of the
more emotional stuff though, again, John Cena is really shining
here with his acting abilities and and and in the
discussions with his brother, you know, just saying he misses

(41:35):
him like it. That's good. Again, goes back to this
is like his fantasy life. He gets he is more
in touch with his emotional side, and he's actually able
to have these harder conversations with Keith. With Amelia. You
know this Amelia can tell he's different than not the
arrogant version that she knows from her universe. This one

(41:56):
is a different person and a softer Chris, if you will,
a softer piecemaker. I mean, he's still murders, but he's
he's a soft there's a softer side.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
To him, maybe a non racist side.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
Yeah, also a non racist side.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
I think the conversa like I was going back, like
those conversations he's been having with his brother, Like finally
being able to have that conversation. Is it's cool to
watch like what could have been between those two and
you know, him being the older brother and telling him, man,
I'm always going to be there, and uh, you can

(42:35):
kind of just see him like get choked up a
little bit when he says I'm always going to be
there and him, you know, being actually genuinely worried about
him like sitting like, you know, is the pills what
you keep you keep disappearing? Is it the pills again?
You know? And it's just I love it. I love
that he's actually getting to be the little brother instead

(42:58):
of like having to deal with a racist that that
that you know, builds them suits and stuff.

Speaker 1 (43:04):
Yeah, And it's it's you know, we I have my
concerns about this universe and what it means for Chris
to be in this, but it is cathartic, I think,
and going to be helpful for him in the long
run to be able to voice these points to both
Keith and and and Amelia and whoever else he speaks
to in this alternate universe. It's gonna blow up in

(43:27):
his face, I'm sure, but it'll only help him in
his universe once he gets back and dealing with hardcourt
and dealing with even Adebio and and economists and some
of the other ones. It's it'll help him in the
long run, and he'll he'll grow further as a more
of a heroic figure than he than he's trying to
already be.

Speaker 2 (43:47):
I think he's going to finally get his closure with
his with his brother and probably with his father with
in in this universe for sure.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
And possibly help him with you know, because in our
universe we see him getting absolutely wasted and he's doing
drugs and all this and that, and now with the
brother and them saying, you know, they have concerns about him,
maybe this will help him in the long run with
dealing with substance abuse, because that's what he turns to
instead of actually dealing with the problems. He's turning to

(44:19):
just numbing the pain with with drugs, with with sex.
You know, he has that big orgy thing in the
first episode. Holy crap, Like, you know, he's having these
different things to numb the pain. And this universe, while
maybe bad is actually allowing him to deal with the
pain in better ways. So there's good things happening here

(44:41):
for Chris. It's just gonna blow up in his face.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
Absolutely, that the way when you when you bringing that up,
but just blow now. I have to rewatch the episode
all over again, watch it again, which is fine, I'll
watch it again.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
And before we move on to Alien Earth, I do
want to mention, you know, well, let me back up.
I do want to tell this little story because I
thought I had spoiled myself from this episode in that
with when I do the you know, put together the
podcast to post, you know, I do the podcast art
for each episode, and I'll put pictures from whatever the

(45:27):
the episodes or whatever the topics are, you know. And
I've been doing Peacemaker, a photo from Peacemaker and a
photo from Alien Earth as of late. And so to
get the Peacemaker photos, I'm able to log into the
Warner Brothers press room to grab photos and they post
photos early for like episodes. And one of the one

(45:51):
of the photos that they posted was of Vigilante kissing
John Economus on the forehead when he was drunk passed
out in the bathtub. The way that photo looked on
the on the website, it looked like a funeral coffin,
and so I thought I got spoiled, and I thought
John Economis was gonna die in this episode, and I

(46:14):
was just waiting for it to happen, and then the
post credit happens and it's just him taking off his
pants to so he can wash it and clean it
for him. I was very confused, but very happy they
didn't kill John Economis because that man Steve ag is
freaking hilarious as he's trying to deal with all these people,
specifically flurry Ate played by Tim Meadows, who is getting

(46:37):
Tim Medows is freaking hilarious here. Why did you when
he gets caught When JOHNA. Komas gets called by the
one Argus agent and he said about like, why didn't
you tell us that Chris has some got a superpowered duck,
a meta duck? He told me a duck. What kind

(46:58):
of man takes advantage of another man? Bird blindness? Oh
my gosh, that was like the hilarious.

Speaker 2 (47:05):
Is it funny? Yes, very.

Speaker 1 (47:11):
Great, solarious.

Speaker 2 (47:14):
He almost killed.

Speaker 1 (47:17):
You, almost got titties killed. Oh my god, Oh.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
He's playing He's just I know, it's like you know,
quick quick, like one two minutes. He steals it every time,
every time, every time superpowered du Meta duck our Vigilante
with the uh spider fact.

Speaker 1 (47:44):
Oh my god, that's al facts, spider facts.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
I could be what is it? What? What's the I
forgot what the name of it? That? When you study
oh at at to my or whatever?

Speaker 1 (48:00):
He says, Oh my god, how.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Many eyes is a translant well trick question. It's too
so they come in pairs of two, he said. He said,
you sounded so confident. I looked that up. I had
to look at my phone.

Speaker 1 (48:16):
My phone, I said, that's so, that's so confident. Oh
my god, it was. The Vigilante is just insane, Like
that man is just insane. We also learned he like spiders, owls, dolphins,
manta rays, and crows freaking hilarious.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
And also uh washing his friend's pants up on a
kitchen counter.

Speaker 1 (48:41):
It's very kind of him. I don't know why I
did that, but very kind of him. Oh I can't
you know. I love that. And I also love going
back to at a Bio and Harcourt. At a Bio
is able to call out Harcourt, unlike like Chris is
able to a little bit, but you know, there's there's
obviously some tension and things there, but at a Bio

(49:03):
is able to call her out on it in a
way to where it's like, you know, you are messed
up too, You're pretty messed up and you're not recognizing that.
And at a Bio is gonna be key in helping
Harcourt realize that. And also I'm sure Hardcourt is gonna
be key in helping at a Bio realize while she
has pursued her dream of running her own thing, it's

(49:25):
kind of hindered her life in a lot of other ways.
So maybe there's a there's a common ground that the
two of those can the two of them can strike.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
See. What I like about her character is that she's
that friend that's gonna set She's gonna tell you straight
up yes on her mind, like it's not gonna be
it's not gonna be sugarcoated. She sounds very nice when
she's telling you it. Yeah, but she's some real, real
stuff that's being told to you like a you know,
you're not dealing with it because, like you said, with Chris,

(49:57):
he goes with substance abuse and things like that to
you know, kind of dull his pain Hardcourt goes and
fights a whole bar full of bikers to deal with
her problems, you know. And it's I think Chris and
like you said in that and that to mention, Chris
needs Keith, but Harcourt definitely needs out of Like it's saying,

(50:19):
it's like out of bio. It's everyone's best friend that
tells you the truth.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
Oh yeah, she's and she does it in a way
to where it's it's it's it's like pointing it out,
but not like in a in a mean way. It's
just like a you're being dumb right now, like you
know what I mean. Like it's it's just a straight
up friendship of yeah, I'm your like one of your
best friends. I'm telling you you're screwing this up right now,

(50:45):
you know, and calling you out on your stuff without
making it feel like an attack.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
Yeah, it's definitely That's what I like about her, Like, yeah,
definitely trying to sit and she does it with Chris.
She did it in the first season with Chris, like
kind of setting him straight also and making making or
like he's going down the right path also, So it's
just she's she's everybody's moral compass to me.

Speaker 1 (51:09):
But she does need help as well with everything that's
happening with her and Kia, and while she is going
for her dreams and is you know, and normally that's
a good thing to do. But if you're damaging your
relationship to pursue your dreams, maybe you could have done
it in a different.

Speaker 2 (51:26):
Way, different time.

Speaker 1 (51:27):
Yeah, yeah, maybe little little adjustment out of bio.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
I still love when she's said, how many people, how
many people have you? Goodness?

Speaker 1 (51:40):
Gracious and vigilante is just you know, happy to be there,
just living his best life.

Speaker 2 (51:45):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 1 (51:46):
Of course, episode four releases this coming Thursday, so we'll
we'll find out more very soon. But we're gonna have
to pause because we need to talk about Alien Earth.
What a phenomenal episode that was episode titled in Space
No One dot dot dot. Of course, you know in
space No One Hears your scream. This was the episode

(52:08):
that's basically a mini alien movie, directed by Noah Hawley,
the creator of this show, who I was listening to
the official Alien Earth podcast and it was like, of course,
I'm gonna direct the mini alien movie episode. But what's
interesting is that they didn't actually have plans to do
this episode at first. They Noah ended up writing it

(52:30):
later on, and they eventually shot it after the fact.
But man, I'm loving this show so far, Andrew and
this episode one of my favorites for sure. And again
I spoke about this last week with Jong. There is
a world where Alien Earth could have just been this

(52:52):
concept over eight episodes, where it's the destruction of the
Magino if you will, right, But he's on a different
route with the storytelling, which I appreciate, and this episode
giving us that classic alien feel even more so being
in the magine, know, being the xenomorphous let loose as

(53:12):
well as other aliens and other creatures and other problems
like this was just a I love this episode, what
about you?

Speaker 2 (53:20):
I loved it. I loved it. I'm surprised that they
didn't plan on doing this show, I mean doing this episode.
We kind of did need a little bit of a
backstory of why that first that first scene that we
saw an episode one happened, and I'm glad we got
a whole backstory behind it, and it definitely brought me

(53:41):
back to Sigourney Weaver. Uh yeah, Alien for sure. I
thought this was a really good episode. For it to
be like a bottle episode and to keep it just
on the ship until the end. It was it was good.
It was good to get the backstory why Morrow is
the way he's like the way he is.

Speaker 1 (54:01):
Yeah, understanding how he operates, right, like understanding that you
know when he we talked about the first episode, it
felt very much like he was a robot in that moment,
and it felt like he was cold, like he was
he was going to do anything for the for the
mission itself, and it is still cold to a certain extent,

(54:22):
but now understanding what all transpired before then, he was
trying to help, he was trying to save people. He's
not like a heartless monster. He's going to do what's
in the best interest of the company. Now and we
understand better why he does the things that he does.
And I like seeing that side of it and understanding

(54:43):
where he's coming from, because again, he's not He's antagonistic,
but he's not a villain. Maybe anti hero is a
better form for it, but I am rooting for Morow
with each and every episode, and with this one, I
am definitely rooting for Morow. Baby is amazing in this role.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
Yeah, he's he's really good as a cold. Yeah. I've
seen him in a car in one other show and
he played a really good He was like pretty much
like this just cold and and like uh and mission
oriented and.

Speaker 1 (55:17):
Was lands Yes, it was, yes, it was.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
That's where I first saw him too, And.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
So I was like, you know, it's cool to watch
the backstory on why everything went down on the ship
like the way it did. He it seemed like he
had the right idea at every turn, and they kept
going when they when it was time to go right,
they will always go left from what he was saying.
And it was just like all right, well at some point,

(55:46):
I'm just gonna I can't lead you to the water anymore.
I'm just gonna have to leave you. Yeah, And that's
what he did at the end of the episode, because
he gave them too many chances, too many chances.

Speaker 1 (55:57):
Yeah, I mean he was he had like you know,
he said that one part about like we'll go to
the bridge, we'll lock it up, you know, we'll we'll
do this, we'll do that. He is running things in
those moments, and then, in no disrespect to the acting
captain in that moment, of Zeverie, but she is freezing
up in those key moments when you need the captain

(56:19):
to take control of things, and he was willing to
take control of those things because we also understand where
his mind state is at, and that we know he
We knew in previous episode that he had a kid,
but now we know that he had a daughter. That
daughter died when she was nineteen, which was only year

(56:40):
eight of his mission, and so he's been living for
what is it, sixty five, well, you know, fifty whatever
year is knowing that his daughter has died and that
he's got nothing to go back to except for the
company that took him off the streets and gave him

(57:00):
an opportunity, gave him a purpose in a sense, and
really created unwavering loyalty to wailing Utani with what they
did for him. M m.

Speaker 2 (57:12):
And the company clearly does not care about the crew
very much soever. It's the cargo safe, it's the car acknowledge, knowledge, acknowledge,
My goodness, great, you know theice people on board, right,
they just don't matter because we have to pay them.

Speaker 1 (57:31):
Yeah, it's it's again. The alien is always like the
good alien movies and the good you know, a lot
of the themes that Alien explores is, you know, corporations,
they don't care at the end of the day. This
is obviously taken to the nth degree of it's turned
up to the max when we talk about bringing aliens
and not caring about the damages done and all that,

(57:53):
but more and more as we see in this world currently,
that doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. With
the way some of these tech oligards and billionaires and
folks operate, and how cavalier they are with see what
I did there. Cavalier they are with people's lives and everything,
and that's what this company is wailing Utani prodigy, all

(58:15):
of them seem to be. That being said, though, I
understand why even through all that, Moro has unwavering loyalty
to them, because they took him off the street, gave
him a new arm. You know, he's suffering with that arm,

(58:36):
and obviously the grandmother had a care for him. You know,
it's probably still a a like an employee relationship type thing,
but still showing that care. You created unwavering loyalty, and
it's just like what companies do, especially if you're a

(58:58):
younger employee. And you know, it's obviously different. We're not
getting cybernetic arms and things like that. But like for me,
I related to it in that when I first started
with ESPN ninety seventy five, Dave Tepper, Julie Takahashi and
some of these others that picked me from the intern
group to be a part timer and all that, like

(59:19):
I am and still will be fiercely loyal to them
no matter what, Like I'll always have their back on
different things, in different situations or whatever, just because, yeah,
they believed in me when no one else did. And
seems like that's what Moro is operating on Whale and
Yutani believe me more than anyone else did. And now

(59:39):
I also don't have really anything to live for outside
of my life's work, the sixty five year mission. I
am going to accomplish this mission because he doesn't want
it to be for nothing at the end of the day,
you know, to lose his daughter for nothing, right.

Speaker 2 (59:55):
Exactly like I could have lived those eight that I
could have had those eight plus years with my daughter. Instead,
I'm in space getting these these these uh one of
them called it parasites, Like we're getting bringing parasites back
there for sixty five years. I'm just like, good, it's gracious,
I don't going in and out of cry of sleep.

(01:00:18):
That has to be that's got to be taxing.

Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Yeah, brutal, point brutal, it's it's got to be brutal.
And it's just and then as you go through it,
and we don't really know what all went into actually
capturing the creatures, right that we we've heard mentions of
it that it did take out people that were on
that part of the crew. At one point, the one

(01:00:42):
who ends up being shown as the saboteur said something
about his girl had eggs in her eyes or something
like that, And I don't know if that was reference
to the eye alien or one of those blood ticks
or whatever. But you know, we know that a lot
went into capturing those creatures. And again, it doesn't matter

(01:01:03):
all wailing you Tonic cares about. Is at the end
of the day, those creatures and Prodigy with boy Cavalier
promising he's promising the world to that dude, and he's
not gonna be able to deliver on any of that,
right Like he's he's saying all those things just to
get those aliens.

Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
Because I like, you know how you say, so you
can put me in a new body. Yeah, it ken
kind of kind maybe like you're doing this for it.
Maybe nah No, and you might not live well, not
even there's a high probability you're crashing a spaceship into

(01:01:44):
the ground of Earth. You're not gonna live through that,
I'm sorry, unless you're in one of those little pods
that Marrow gets into the uh for when they crash
the lane, right, I forget that little pod.

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
So yeah, then I think they called it the Impact room.

Speaker 2 (01:02:00):
Impact for Mess movie. Yeah, and yeah, so it was.
I mean, he did it for maybe and then pretty
much still died for it. So it just seemed like
this mission for sixty five years took his toll on
everyone going there and probably coming back and formorrow. Like

(01:02:23):
you said, it was that he is loyal towards wailing
Utani and he is mission focused and I'm going to
get this mission done no matter what, and if you're
trying to sabotage it, I'm just gonna We're just gonna
leave you at this point because I'm I'm not gonna lie.

(01:02:44):
I'll be tired, right.

Speaker 1 (01:02:46):
Yeah, But it's been sixty five years, right. He doesn't
want to waste those sixty five years for it to
mean nothing, right, Like he's he's gonna make it mean
something by the end of this. And now we also
know why he asked for boy Cavalier in that first episode.
He wants to kill him. He wants to kill him
for what he did to the mission, destroyed the mission,
destroyed his life's work. He doesn't just want to make

(01:03:09):
restitutions in a legal way, like he just wants he
wants to murder this dude and get back the specimens
for whaling you Tani, to prove it at the end
of the day that it was all worth it. And
it's just it's a fascinating place to put Morow in
and he's such a complicated character in it, but it
works so well, and it helps when you have an
actor like Babousis who's phenomenal in this role. It's interesting,

(01:03:34):
Like if you listen to the official Alien Earth podcast,
I'm gonna reference that a lot because I enjoy that podcast.
But he talked about what he did to prepare for
the role, and he talked about watching There Will be
Blood No Country for Old Man the Dark Knight another
Heath Ledger movie where he wanted to understand their movement

(01:03:56):
in how someone like his care character, like the Joker
or some of these other characters move in these spaces.
And there is a you know, a quiet confidence but
stillness to him, especially early on where he's just kind
of humming as everything is breaking loose and chaos is

(01:04:17):
outside that door. He's just very nonchalant about like getting
into the impact room, making sure he's set, Like he's
very just nonchalant about this whole thing and manipulating slightly
and doing what he's doing. But again it's done in
such a way where it's it's not like a villain,
you know, Like I don't think of him as a villain.

(01:04:39):
I think Boy Cavalier one hundred percent villain. He's not
so much.

Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
He definitely feels like a Some people will probably say
anti hero, but I would say, look like he's in
every turn he tried to tell him to do the
right thing and they just wouldn't do it. It was
like there was always fight, fight for it, like everybody
wants to fight against him and kept like when they

(01:05:05):
the little ticks that was on the on the kid
that forgot his name, I think, not Clym.

Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
Mal Kate Malla. It was the younger engineer.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Yeah, yeah, and he was like, look, don't take those
off of them or I don't know how he said,
don't take them off him. It's in contamination. Like we're
gonna have to seal off this room. No, no, no, okay,
well all right now I want to take him off anyway,
A guy that just got done taking a huge swig
of whiskey and doing surgery, that's the guy I'm going

(01:05:36):
to listen to. And he takes the ticks off and
they die in there, you know, And it's just every
every turn he tried, and he was like at the
end of the day when he now I understand why
he sealed off that door, because he I told you,
I told you, get to the bridge, we'll hunk her
down and we can survive this. But you didn't want
to listen. So here we are.

Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
Yeah, just devastating, but like again, you understand why he
does it in that moment, especially with the airborne thing
that the blood ticks do, which I want to go
to the aliens now because the blood ticks have now
superseded the ie alien as being the most creepy things
that are on the ship Like that is just disturbing

(01:06:18):
the fact that they first of all, we got to
talk about whaling Utani's contamination or control things or whatever,
the glass things that they put the creatures in. We
got to figure something out the fact that like one
of the antennas could just like slide through that to
open it. And then the thing gets out and goes

(01:06:39):
to the woman's water and just proceeds to just splait
a bunch of tadpoles whatever into the water and then
distracts them by getting into the bread Like that is terrifying.
That is just I am terrified by that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
It got caught on. It was like it had intelligence. Yeah,
it so like and then but I would say this though,
the eye thing was trying to warn her, which was
kind of interesting. So it seemed like he kept banging
on the glass to Warner.

Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
So I thought that too. Now again I'm going to
reference official Alien Earth podcast. Noah Hally said, he the
they call it the image of the alien. Apparently he
saw what was happening, or she saw what was happening
and wanted to distract them from seeing what the blood
tick was doing. I thought he was it was trying

(01:07:34):
to warn her, but apparently he the im age was
in on on the on the distracting and and trying
to escape plan.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
Okay, yeah I thought that too. I was like, oh, snap,
it's trying to warn her. No, I was trying to
distract her. I was trying to distract her so that
it could help in terms of getting out. Although I
still wonder about the the I imaged the I Alien
because you know, it takes over the chief engineer at

(01:08:07):
one point. We don't see it happen. When we just
see the eye engineer turn around. It's the big the
one big eye just sticking out of his head. And
I don't I'm trying to figure out and I want
to get your thought on it. When it goes towards ZAVERI,
I think it's how you say her name, Zoya. When

(01:08:27):
the xenomorph is outside the door. She's by the door,
but then it's like we're trying to steal this door,
and the image comes over and I don't know if
it pushes her out of the way or what, but
I you know, it kind of defends in that moment.
But it might be just a you know, animalistic to
survive and fight its way when it goes against the Xenomorph,

(01:08:50):
because it did seem like it just lost all interest
in the humans and was focused on the Xenomorph. Of course,
the Xenomorph being the more pertinent problem in that in
that Anario.

Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
It's like a Xenomorph and they they have like a
in like a generational beef between each other, like yeah,
species or something like that. Yeah, I wonder Yeah, I
was thinking the same thing, like did he save her
from the Xenomorph? But then again it did that little
yell and then that's when the Xenomorph came back, and
I was like, I don't it might be he's probably

(01:09:26):
detected which one was the bigger threat, and said, well
I wanted to go after this big thing. I'm not
gonna plus already I know this enemy.

Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
Yeah, because it again, like you know, Moro goes after
it rather than looking behind and seeing the Xenomorph. So
was it trying to warn Moro that the xeno Morph
was still like on the way or was it trying
to distract in that moment, because then again it goes
after the xeno Morph and tries to fight it and

(01:09:56):
actually is doing okay, but of course it takes over
a human who you know, teeth aren't going to do
much to the xenomorphic. It does bite them in a
weak spot, it seems like, but doesn't do much at
the end of the day and jumps on it. But
of course the xenomorph doesn't have any eyes, so it
can't take that over. That would be terrifying if it did.

(01:10:17):
But yeah, like I thought that was just a cool,
like just over the top sci fi scenario that I
really really enjoyed.

Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
Yeah, I think they do. Just this whole episode was
like a good, like scary slash sci fi. It like
you said, it went back to classic aliens, like you
never know what's going to happen around the corner. But
I do say that this whole like this mission is
like showing us like humanity's kind of like ugly side too,

(01:10:47):
where we were curious enough to go out in space
and also curious enough to bring something back from space
like this. And one of the thing is right, this is, yeah,
let's go out in space and bring back bring back parasites.
You're just gonna go violence and space to just bring
back parasites. I'm like, yep, that's that's humans. That's definitely

(01:11:10):
a human thing to do.

Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
Yeah, for sure, it's definitely a dumb human thing to
do as as we as we're prone to do stupid things.
And it even if if everything screams bad idea, bad idea,
let's see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Always listen to your security officers, especially they didn't do
it for sixty five years.

Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
Especially when he's a professional at what he does. You know,
it's just wow. But again he's still looking out for
his crew. He tries to say clem Clem gets shot.
He straight murders Petrovitch like in a brutal way. And
Petrovich was almost like at that point it just felt
like he was just an insane person. But uh yeah,

(01:11:52):
like just a wild scenario. But Moro a very, very
well equipped to handle the situation.

Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Absolutely, But yeah, the swords out of your hands and
you have a you can burn them, right, Yeah, I
need that hand.

Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
And we also learned going back to Morrow, we learn
that at the end of it, he does go to
whaling Utani does tell him about you know, I assume
everything that's happened so far, and they say something about
like lawyers, and he's like, I want to sell it
my way, I'm gonna kill Boy Cavalier because now that
we know he's the one that sabotaged everything and made
it sure that the ship tried to crash land on

(01:12:36):
to Prodigy Island or Prodigy's territory, He's going to make
it a goal to kill him. And whaling Utani's like,
go ahead, sure, we'll give him everything he wants. And
I just found that scene just very fascinating and that
I still don't know that there's much you know, it's
still a CEO employee relationship at that point, so I

(01:12:58):
don't know that there's much there. But I think she
understands that this is a weapon that I can just
dictate towards or point towards Boy Cavalier and just let
the chaos.

Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
And two mm hmm, yeah, I mean he stayed alive
for this mission, like he stayed alive on a crash landing,
Like I don't. I think he's going to do everything
in this power to finish this mission off, for sure,
And I don't understand why. Maybe I'm maybe I'm not
too much in the alien and lored, but why do

(01:13:29):
they want this uncontrollable monster on Earth. It's just these
monsters on Earth.

Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
It's just we you know money, you know money, Let's
get the alien trying, like because we always assume we
can tame these creatures or the hubrist of man always
thinks we can handle us. So then we bring them
to Earth and it'll be fine, nothing could go wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
How many ships does does this thing have to take
down before we figured this out?

Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
A lot of it turns out so many ships that
we still don't understand because if you think about it too,
two years from now, what is whaling and Tony do
they send another one? And that's the of course the
first alien movie, you know, it's like and it's I
think they It's been a while since I've watched that movie,
so I haven't watched it again recently, but yeah, it's

(01:14:23):
one hundred percent like just not learning from your mistakes.

Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
I hope we get like a prequel to like what
happened for them the first time to go get to
go get these things. I hope we get that, like
it like either like a little movie or maybe a
couple episodes just to find out, like what it took
for them to go and get these in the first place,
what the world looked like too, that they went and

(01:14:49):
got them from.

Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
At this point, I wouldn't mind just a Moro focused series,
you know, Like he he was already one of the
most interesting characters on the show, and this just further
cemented him as probably my favorite part of the show.
I think everyone's doing very well so far. I think
Sidney Chandler's great as Wendy and Alex lother is Joe

(01:15:12):
and everything, like, it's a great cast. But man, at
every moment, Baboos just finds a way to like steal
scenes or outshine and it's just there's no disrespect to
anybody else, but it's just he's doing such a phenomenal job.

Speaker 2 (01:15:27):
Yeah, he's Yeah, he's definitely done an amazing jobs as
as Morrow. For sure, I'm definitely tuned in because I
just want to see what type of decisions he's made,
how he's going to get to the CEO right now.
I can't wait to see how he does.

Speaker 1 (01:15:41):
That, and we'll find that out again. We're recording this
on September ninth, which is Tuesday, and episode was this
episode six comes out tonight, so we'll find out the
next step for more sooner rather than later. Before we
wrap up. I do want a credit, Jong, because he
called it way back when when we were doing our
episode one and two spoiler reviews. He said something to

(01:16:03):
the effect of I'm paraphrasing, but he said something to
the effect of boy Cavalier being part of or or
or you know, finding a way to crash land the
ship onto Prodigy. He called it from the jump. I
was like, oh no, it just crashed and it just
happened to be land on Prodigy. How naive I was,

(01:16:23):
because you know, one hundred percent this was all a
boy cavalier, a machination, if you will, and then his
plans from the jump to get the creatures onto his
property and study it. Even though he's got this huge
hybrid project that he's working on, He's just focused on
the next shiny thing. And credit to Jong. You're sick,

(01:16:45):
but hey, you got it right, Jong.

Speaker 2 (01:16:48):
It sounds like John is a clairvoyant, so I'm going
to need the Powerball numbers to win. So whenever you
want to do that, I mean, I know you're sick
right now, I understand, so I'm going to let it.
You know, Mike clouds your clairvoyance, but when you're feeling
better and everything, you know, just you know, Slider brother,
you know, I'll give you a couple of dollars just.

Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
You know, just a little bit. You know, it's fun. Well,
that's gonna do it for issue six hundred and eleven
