Cuando tenía 21 años, Rubén decidió que quería competir en los Juegos Olímpicos. Tomó un deporte brutalmente difícil: el trineo. Cuatro años y unos cuantos huesos rotos más tarde, él estaba compitiendo contra los mejores del mundo en los Juegos Olímpicos de Calgary 1988.
