In the concepts discussed, creativity is seen as a journey leading us towards our inner selves, shedding layers of conditioning, and expressions, revealing our genuine selves. For instance, each brushstroke on a canvas or a written word can unravel another piece of ourselves, helping us inch closer to our own centers of being. Plus, creativity engenders a journey of rich self-discovery, allowing us to connect with our divine beings.

Our creativity isn’t limited to conventional artistic endeavors like painting or dancing. It could be gardening, a profound interaction with Mother Earth, or discovering inspiration in physical exercise. No matter the form, tuning into that creative source places us on the cusp of self-discovery and connection with oneness.

A quiet voice echos from the depths of our being, guiding us while bringing clarity, purpose, and direction. Accessing this quiet space offers unlimited potential that creativity releases, transcending limitations of our physical world. Ultimately, creativity allows us to tap into an infinite well of love and wisdom, embodying an essence of beauty, truth, and divine energy.

(00:00):
Hello, and welcome back to another Contemplative Living, where we talk about
concepts to bring a more contemplative way of living our lives.
You know, we try to bring them into our everyday life.
And today we're going to talk about a subject that I really,
I feel is really critical for each and every one of us, and it deals with our own creativity.

(00:25):
You know, Spirit once said to me, creativity gathers the forces of the universe
together and orchestrates entire new realities.
Creativity is what brought this universe together with love and compassion.
And when we infuse that into our creative nature, we find that we have unlimited potential.

(00:52):
Potential and so that's what we're going to talk about today so let's get to
it welcome now creating a life of peace this is contemplative living with david bennett,
contemplations and reflections to help with spiritual living this podcast is

(01:14):
made possible by dharmatalks.com.
All right. Well, creativity is such a huge primal force in our lives.
We all have it. We all have some sort of creative nature.
Well, I'm going to talk a little bit more about that. then. But first,

(01:36):
let's explore the fact that creativity leads us on a path toward our own center, our own being.
Creativity is a journey. It's a journey that propels us toward our true nature.
And it leads us to discover the core of who we are.

(01:59):
When we engage in acts of creativity, creativity
whether it's through painting writing dancing
movement or any other you know expression
we tap into a wellspring of
inspiration and that inspiration flows
from deep within us and as we immerse ourselves that's a great word about creativity

(02:21):
we immerse ourselves into that process into that creative process and we shed
layers of conditioning and expectations And it reveals our authentic selves.
You know, so through self-expression, we connect with our innermost thoughts,
our innermost thoughts and emotions, and allow them to manifest.

(02:44):
Each brushstroke on the canvas or word on the written page unravels another
piece of ourselves, guiding us closer to our own center of being.
Through our own creativity we uncover hidden talents and passions that may have

(03:05):
been dormant within us and they're waiting for an opportunity waiting for an opportunity to blossom.
Ultimately by embracing creativity in all of its forms we embark on an enriching
journey towards self-discovery. Now.
We all have within our being a creative state, and it's something that we can

(03:30):
draw on to lead us towards inspiration.
I mean, after all, when you think about it, where does inspiration come from?
It comes from our true nature and our connection to our divine self.
So there's so many different ways that we can be creative.
You know, we're not all the best artists. We're not all fantastic dancers.

(03:55):
We're not all musicians.
Maybe we're gardeners. You know, what better way to show our inspiration than
interacting with Mother Earth?
Or maybe we just, we find inspiration in the process of physical exercise, in athleticism.

(04:16):
You know, I mean, there's so many ways that we can tap into our creative nature.
We just need to be aware that when we are in that creative source and when inspiration
begins to flow, that we are on the threshold.
We're on the threshold. And inspiration is a place where we hear a quiet,

(04:41):
calm voice that is our own true nature communicating with oneness.
So in the depths of our
being lies a stillness that speaks
volumes speaks volumes and it's guiding
us toward our truant essence inspiration acts
as a bridge it's a bridge to this inner sanctuary and it allows us to connect

(05:08):
with oneness and that wisdom that resides within the oneness and within that connection with us.
When we tune into that quiet space and we hear that voice, that quiet voice.
We're greeted with the gentle whispers of our true nature.

(05:32):
And it's here we find the clarity, the purpose, and direction that our creativity
flows effortlessly from.
It's a sacred space. and and
it's an infinite well of knowledge
and so that's how creativity can bring such inspiration each and every one of

(05:55):
us and as we embrace it as a portal to our authentic selves we begin to realize
the power and the beauty that comes from aligning with oneness.
We see ourselves not as separate entities, but as interconnected threads.
We naturally begin to relax when we work with any creative endeavor that we enjoy.

(06:23):
I can relate to this in such a way because when I go, I find that I use creativity
in a lot of aspects of my life. I use it in my writing.
I use it in this podcast.
I use it in my art, but I use it mostly in my woodshop.

(06:44):
When I go out there and I just entering that creative space,
I'm able to just relax, let go of whatever is the burdens that have been sitting on my shoulders.
And I can just be me and I can relax into that endeavor of just allowing myself to be creative.

(07:11):
And in a relaxed state of being, we focus our awareness on more than what we're creating.
You know, as the mind settles into a peaceful rhythm, new insights and connections
begin to emerge, and it's effortless. It's effortless.
It's in the space of tranquility that our creativity flourishes.

(07:34):
It stretches beyond the boundary of what we thought was possible.
When we let go of the need to control every detail and instead surrender to
the flow of inspiration.
That's when magic happens. Yeah. That's when ideas come pouring in and they

(07:56):
come from unexpected places, but they spark our imagination and they guide us
towards innovative solutions.
Many times when I've been in a place where I feel stuck,
I use that relaxed creative creative space to help me to clear my mind because
creativity thrives when we allow ourselves to embrace relaxation and openness.

(08:23):
So by quieting the noise around us and tuning into our inner wisdom,
we tap into that wellspring of unlimited potential, you know,
just waiting to be released.
The creative process can take us to new levels of experience.
Again, in my own life, I've found that my creative nature, my creativity,

(08:50):
it's my doorway, my doorway to my own light essence.
And it brings me right to the threshold of that light. And so,
that divine nature that's within us.
So, creativity actually accesses the divine love that exists within our higher consciousness.

(09:18):
Creativity is not just about creating art or music. It's about tapping into
the infinite well of love.
Love and wisdom that resides within each of us.
When we allow ourselves to be channels of this divine energy,
our creativity becomes imbued with a sense of beauty and truth,

(09:40):
and it transcends the limitations of our physical world.
World it's through creativity that
we're able to connect to the higher consciousness that
exists beyond our limited understanding by
allowing ourselves to surrender surrendering to the flow we can accept we we

(10:04):
access a deeper deeper level of awareness and insight that guides us toward
expressing our true selves and isn't that what it's really all about,
but expressing our true selves and bringing that into reality.
Bringing that into our day-to-day experience.

(10:27):
So I hope that you can find some quiet, some solitude, where you can tap into your creative nature.
And then you can bring that into the world and allow us to all see your true
nature and all of its creative aspects.
I hope you have a blessed week.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
