Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey friends, it's
Sass here.
It's been a while.
I wanted to record this episode, which is really an
announcement about a lot ofchanges that I've been making in
my coaching work, and some ofthose are having a ripple effect
on this podcast.
So I wanted to keep you in theloop and catch you up on all the
(00:22):
things.
I'm sitting here at the bottomof the world You're probably
asleep right now.
I have hot coffee, a heatedblanket because it is still
winter here a sneezing pup whoI'm hoping won't bark halfway
through, but you just never know.
And, yeah, I wanted to let youknow where I'm at.
So this podcast, courage andSpice, has been, if you've been
(00:46):
here, since the beginning.
It was 2017 when podcastsstarted to come about and I
thought oh, that sounds fun, letme experiment.
And I remember recording thevery first episode and thinking
no one's going to want to listento me bang on about self-doubt.
And here we are many yearslater almost 175 episodes, I
(01:10):
think over well over half amillion downloads.
So many conversations aboutself-doubt and self-belief and
trying to make sense of this.
It's been one of the mostconsistent companions of my work
and I bloody love it.
I love podcasts.
I'm a huge fan of them.
I listen to podcasts every dayand so it's kind of fun to be
(01:33):
contributing Courage and Spiceto the podcast canon.
So I just really wanted toacknowledge like where we're at.
I mean, I couldn't do thiswithout you listening in.
So, whether you've been herefrom the very early days or if
you're brand new, I'm so gladyou're listening in and thank
(01:56):
you for all of the messages andemails and conversations we've
had as a result of me banging onabout self-doubt, and there is
a shift coming.
Over the last year or so, mywork has started to shift.
I think my coaching and myprograms are starting to become
(02:18):
much more focused on supportingfellow practitioners, coaches,
therapists, folks who areworking in a coaching modality,
and a lot of that has come from,I think, a couple of things.
One is developing theself-belief coaching methodology
and realizing that I couldteach that and license other
(02:42):
coaches to use it with theirbeloved clients, and just seeing
the huge ripple effect of that.
That led me to want to deepenmy skill set in terms of
supporting other coaches.
And so, about three years agonow, I trained and certified as
(03:02):
a coaching supervisor and I'vebeen working in this way for a
while now and I've realized thatwhen I help other coaches build
their self-belief and theirbusinesses, that ripple effect
with every single client theywork with.
It is such a powerfulmultiplier and I'm kind of in
(03:26):
love with that work.
So some things have beenchanging behind the scenes.
If you are a human withself-doubt, you may have been
part of programs that I've runover the last few years, like
Courage Based Goals and Selfself-belief school and things
that are designed for folks whoare not a coach but just
(03:50):
experience self-doubt, and I amclosing down that side of my
practice which is both, you know, sad and difficult, and also I
feel really energized by thesechanges and it's felt really
natural that the podcast wouldevolve too, and so the first
(04:14):
obvious change is that the nameis changing.
From now on this is going to beCourage and Spice for Coaches,
with a tagline of build yourself-belief in your business in
under 30 minutes a week, so youcan expect shorter, punchier
episodes that give you somethinguseful when you listen in.
We'll focus on the intersectionof self-belief and business for
(04:37):
coaches and how your ownpatterns of self-doubt will show
up when you're doing the funstuff of marketing and pricing
and coaching and creating andwhat to do about it.
So my work is shifting and thepodcast is moving to be focused
on supporting coaches.
Some things aren't changing.
(04:58):
It's still going to be me, myvoice, my compassion, my deep
fascination with self-doubt andmy kind of ongoing love affair
with how we build self-belief inways that are really pragmatic
and robust, and you can start tosort of see the practical
(05:21):
outputs of really embodyingself-belief.
I'm still going to be bringingin guests.
I am really excited aboutinterviewing other coaches
around how they set theirbusiness up and what works and
what doesn't, and what their biglessons have been and how
self-doubt has rocked up forthem.
I really want to demystify thisquite complex work that we do
(05:49):
as self-employed coaches, likewe're running a business and
we're doing this helpful work.
Both of them are a craft and anart and they're complex and
they bring up all of our shitand I want us to just really be
okay with that.
And I want us to just really beokay with that because I firmly
(06:12):
believe that this coaching workwe do is sacred, right.
It's part of how we build aworld that we all want to live
in.
We are all about supporting ourclients to stand in their
values and be fully expressedand do the work that they are
here to do, right?
So I've always seen our role asbeing kind of in the wings of
(06:34):
the theatre of our clients'lives, and they're on the stage
and we're there to remind themof their significance and to
help them kind of unpack all theways that maybe they get in
their own way.
And for us to do this reallyeffectively, right, to be able
to ask the right questions, torefrain from the temptation to
(06:59):
rescue, give advice, to actuallyshow up and partner with our
clients to help them understandthemselves.
That takes real skill.
That takes real skill.
So look, if you're a coach andyou sometimes struggle with some
self-doubt around your servicesright, like actually showing up
(07:20):
with clients or in yourbusiness right, the marketing,
the pricing, the visibility, allof that shiz stick around, keep
listening.
If you know a coach who coulduse a boost of courage and
clarity and some confidence allthose lush C words this is the
podcast for you and I guess youknow.
(07:40):
One of the things I want toleave you with is I feel like
I've always been evolving, orI've been at this for 13 years
now, but so much has changedsince I first started, you know,
back in 2012,.
Whenever it was that I trained,it was 2012.
I mean, no one knew what analgorithm was Like.
(08:01):
The idea of Zoom felt very StarTrek, right.
We did not have videoconferencing back there.
In lots of ways, I feel likeI'm starting again, but I have
all of this experience under mybelt and, you know, with this
new focus comes a new website, some fresh new visual branding,
(08:22):
rejigged offers, like all ofthis is about for me creating a
more streamlined and simple, simple, intentional business.
Over the last year, I've beendoing a ton of personal work to
really get me to here, andhere's what I'm kind of excited
(08:43):
about now is I want to share thebehind the scenes of all of
this, like sharing with you howI'm setting my practice up,
what's flying, what's flopping,the lessons I'm learning about,
you know, creating a reallyhuman business and what is
becoming a much more technifiedworld.
(09:04):
So if you are interested in thatmessy, real, sometimes magical
stuff of what it's like toreally build a coaching practice
, please do listen in.
You don't have to wait.
The next episode is alreadythere and it's all about my new
business focus, where I'mheading next and how I'm setting
(09:24):
myself up.
So I just want to say, ifyou're not a coach and you're
like, yeah, I'm going to beunsubscribing, I just want to
say thank you for being here.
This isn't goodbye to whatCourage and Spice has been.
I think it's the next chapterof what's coming, and it's been
a joy to be taking up yourearbud time.
(09:45):
I know that that is incrediblyprecious, so thank you for being
here.
Thank you for listening in.
I wish you only good things, and if you are a coach and you
really give a shit about thiswork and you want to build a
beautiful business that youfreaking love, then hang out
(10:07):
