In the first episode of 2025, Nick and George break down Release Wave 1 2025 for Power Pages, separating real improvements from underwhelming updates. AI features take center stage, but do they actually add value? Discussion covers AI-assisted forms, web agents, and natural language queries, questioning their usefulness in real-world applications.

Modern lists get long-awaited updates, including JavaScript event support and metadata filters, finally closing gaps with classic lists. The ongoing file upload saga resurfaces, and the new virus scanning feature raises questions about effectiveness. A streamlined Microsoft Entra ID setup wizard promises easier authentication setup, but handling failed logins remains tricky.

A surprising security threat in social logins also comes up — cross-IdP impersonation —where external authenticator can let attackers register an account with someone else’s corporate email.

With event portals moving from outbound marketing to Power Pages, the clock ticks toward a July 2025 deadline for migration. Anyone still using the old Angular-based event sites needs to start planning now.

Want to know what’s missing from this release? A wishlist of features Power Pages actually needs is coming next time. Don’t miss it!

George (00:00):
Good afternoon, Nick.

Nick (00:11):
Good evening, George.

George (00:15):
How are you?

Nick (00:17):
I'm doing pretty well. How's the, the new year treating you?

George (00:21):
Uh, very, very busy. Uh, before you blink, it's, uh, what, 10% of the year gone so. Uh, quite busy. Um, how about yourself?

Nick (00:33):
Yep. Same here with us. It seems like it's, uh, well, in our part of the world, the, all the government contracts are kind of up for renewal at the end of March, so it's a busy season for proposals and that sort of thing. So, uh, yeah, definitely a busy time.

George (00:49):
Is that the same? Um, as with the government's, uh, budgets around the world? Like if you didn't spend money being. Diligent and, you know, [00:01:00] careful with spends and you didn't spend the money, which sounds like a good thing, but actually it's a bad thing because say, oh, you, so you didn't need all that money, so we're not gonna give it to you again.

Nick (01:11):
Yep. That's the, that's the same things we see

George (01:25):
so you're working like, uh. Uh, 39 billable hours per day.

Nick (01:31):
At least. Oh yeah. At

George (01:32):
At least. At least someone did manage to, uh, rack up, uh, something like, uh, you know, 32 billable hours per day, working on four, four different projects. And, uh, during covid, no one checks. It's like, whatever. Um. Anyway, so what's, uh, what's new in our professional world, what you've been up to.
