(00:02):
Hello, mister and missus Brookings Harbor and all
the fishing boats at sea. I'm cousin Bruce
Ellis. And I'm Kat Liddell. And this is
the Insider Report. So let your ears do
the walk in as we fill you in
on what's going on in the Brookings Harbor
area and beyond.
Well, hello. Hello. Hello. And welcome to this
week's show that keeps you in the know.
Well, hello, Kat. We're back together. Hey, Bruce.

(00:24):
I know it feels like it's been ages.
You know? It's been bouncing by here for
us. Yeah. It's that it's that squirrelly time
of year with the holidays. You know? It's
it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just,
it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just,
it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just,
like, you know, a couple times during the
holidays and then in January, we're back to
normal. That's usually how it goes. Right? Right?

(00:45):
Yep. Yep. Oh my goodness. Yeah. Actually, car
didn't break down. I took it in Mhmm.
And just had a lot needed to be
done. They found some stuff that needed it.
Some stuff. Needed some attention before it broke
down. That's the way it did. Some attention.
I've managed to do that, you know, catch
it just right. I know. Yeah. Yeah. I
was gonna say knock on wood, but usually
I get lucky that way. So, you know.
What you end up doing this weekend, it

(01:05):
was a bunch of stuff going on. There
was so much stuff going on. I spent
my entire Saturday at the cherry tree event
over at the train. Yeah. They took a
couple years off, and they were they were
back at it this year. And,
and, I was there with the library. The
library had a tree, and we had, like,
this, like, nice, like, rustic, like, wood wood
cutout, like, rooted in our stories kinda theme.
You know? Yeah. So it was pretty cool.

(01:25):
And, and there was lots of beautiful trees.
It was a good time. Lots of, lots
of families were taking their kids through on
their way to the the Krampus parade that
was happening. Well, that's what I knew what
you were doing because they Yeah. Some people
showed up and they were talking. Oh, we
thought you had you. Yeah. Yeah. So so
Oh, yeah. So I was there, like, for
for the charity of it all, and it
was yeah. It was a good time. And
and, it went home the tree went home

(01:47):
with someone who's gonna take very good care
of it. So yes. So neither one of
us was able to go to that premiere
or it wasn't the premiere, but the showing
of the Nutcracker in the library. Yes. No.
That wasn't somebody else at the library was,
was helping facilitate that with the film festivals
that that day. But, yes, the the Nutcracker
story was was happening over there, which was
really cool. That was the indie film for
the month that they do, every first Saturday.

(02:07):
And, yeah, it was like, the six came
around, and I was like, there is something
happening
everywhere today Well, yeah. At some point. Yeah.
It was it was a really wild day.
So so yeah. Sounds good. There's plenty to
do. Yeah. I was gonna go to that,
but I ended up doing the Krampus storytelling
at the Krampus thing Mhmm. For the kids.
And and it was and there was nice
stories, you know, like, the the little Christmas

(02:28):
tree. It was Not scary stories. Not scary
stories. Scary stories. Nice stories. Nice stories. Because,
you know, some people have different opinions. I
wrote a big thing, and I wrote a
bunch of stuff. I wrote a big article
on Krampus in Yeah. In my paper for
this month. So if anybody wants to read
that, they can go online or they can
read there, and they can read all about
it because there are difference of opinions on
that thing and everything, but it was all
fun. It was all in good fun, and

(02:49):
everybody had and it was, you know, bunch
of group good people. I knew most of
them went down there and everything like that.
It's like, yeah. So it was a good
little event. And then, you know, like I
said, the afternoon we're going on, the charities.
It was Yeah. We I was just sitting
there on the week well, the week before
you did too, but
it was just the sixth was nailed to
the wall. Yes. I mean, it's like, I'm
sitting here taking it off of the script

(03:10):
that I was putting together for this week.
I'm going, man, that's like two pages gone.
Yep. Yep. And topped all off at the
tree lighting ceremony downtown. So, I mean, yeah.
I was gonna say it was the kickoff
day for sure for yeah. Yeah. Everybody picked
the sixth.
Well Yeah. So here we go. But, hey,
we got more stuff coming up this weekend,
though. I hope you all went out and
had some fun and everything like that. And,

(03:31):
hey. Before we get going, I'd like to
thank the Oregon South Coast fishermen, otherwise known
as the Castaways, and Oregon Coast VIP Marketing
for sponsoring the Insider Report. If you'd like
to sponsor our show or one of the
other fine shows out there, KCIW, all you
gotta do is go to kciw.org,
and you will be on your way. Mhmm.
So we got some music going on here
still. Let's look at that. So starting with

(03:52):
Sysco, who was at the cherry Tree event
on Saturday. But Sisko plays Tuesdays at World
Headquarters 101 from four to 6PM.
And then on the seventeenth, he's gonna be
at the Addie Meadham House from noon to
01:30.
Yeah. And then, Black GTO on the twelfth,
they'll be at Anateka from seven to ten.
And disturbing the peace is playing on New
Year's Eve, the thirty first over at Checo

(04:13):
Brewing Co. Sounds like a tradition over there
from eight to midnight. Mhmm. And then Patty
On on the twelfth, she'll be at Koon
Tai, six to eight. And on the nineteenth,
she'll be at Pizza
Bar and Grill, six to eight. Yeah. I
saw her down there too at the beginning.
Yep. Yep. Yep. And saw her at Cherry
Tree as well. Yeah. Yeah. She was telling
you about that. People were making the rounds
that day. Yeah. Alright. Well, Mike Powell is

(04:34):
playing on the twelfth at Checo Brewing Co
from six to 8PM over there. Yep. And
then, hey, we got a few at Interteca
going on still. On the twelfth, they got
Black GTO at 7PM. On the thirteenth, they
got karaoke
at seven. On twentieth, Antidote at seven. And
then on the thirty first, they're having a
big New Year's Eve bash with the mighty
Steelheads, and that'll be going from eight to
midnight. Perfect. And then, finally here, Yana g

(04:55):
is playing on the December
14.
That's a Sunday over at Augustino's. Music, they're
running from two to 4PM.
Yep. She's the other half of, the Rogue
Strings.
Oh, okay. A little bit of context there.
There you go. That was an unfamiliar name
to me on the schedule. Mhmm. No. And
then Lacey played the week before a couple
weeks ago. She played there at August. So,
yeah, they're both making Yeah. So there we

(05:16):
go. Well, hey. Let's turn our attention to
some other events happening in the community starting
with, of course, the Checo Library of Everpacked
over there, adding to the packed weekends, I'm
sure. But let's look at weekly events first.
On Tuesdays at 10:30AM, they've got story time
for young children.
At 03:30PM on Tuesdays, they have their twink
club. They explore new activities every week. And

(05:37):
then on Wednesdays from 01:30 to four, they
have their weekly after school program.
So school age kids are welcome to come
by after that early release day and get
a free snack and hang out, work on
homework or craft using supplies from the Maker
Cart.
Thursdays are packed as well. 10AM to noon,
it's the Rowdy Creek String Bay Band rehearsal,
and this is for acoustic string instrument players.
And even if you don't play string instrument,

(05:59):
you're welcome to drop in and listen.
From three to five on Thursdays, they have
Checkmate Corner. It's a weekly chess club. It's
for players of all ages and skill levels.
And at 05:30PM on Thursdays, they have Easy
Flow Yoga. This is a free class. They
do recommend that you be able to comfortably
get up and down from the floor for
maximum enjoyment and participation.
And then on Saturdays at 10:30AM, they have

(06:21):
Saturday story time, and this is another story
time for young children.
1PM on Saturdays is Saturday shuffle. It's a
big Pokemon and Magic the Gathering trading card
event.
And then on the second and fourth Saturdays
from two to 4PM,
the library works with Harmony and Mii Music
to provide teens teach tech. You can get
free, drop in technology help from a trained

(06:43):
cyber senior technology mentor.
And now coming up in monthly, special events
over at the library now through December 12,
the youth department is hosting a Gingerbread Disguise
Take Home Craft. You can, join them for
a Gingerbread Man themed story time. That was
on Saturday, the twenty ninth was the story
time. They read the classic tale of Gingerbread
Man. And after, the story and, continuing into

(07:03):
the middle of this month, you can pick
up a cardstock gingerbread cookie template to take
home and disguise any way you want. And
then they invite you to bring it back
to the library by the twelfth. They'll hang
them in the library for everyone to enjoy.
And then Saturday, the thirteenth from three to
five, the Saturday's back on the Art Walk
Trail for second Saturdays. The library is a
stop on the Art Walk, and this month,
they're featuring glow in the dark paintings by

(07:25):
Gold Beach artist, John Harold Scott, who does
art by donation.
And at this event, there'll be plenty of
paintings to look at under the black lights
and refreshments will be served.
And then coming up, just a note for
everybody. We just got word over the the
weekend. Wednesday, December 17, Craft and Connect event.
Unfortunately,
the instructor has had a bit of a
family emergency, and this month's Craft and Connect

(07:46):
is canceled. They will resume in January.
And then coming up on the December 19
on Friday, if you were looking for crafting
and connection, worry not, there is a creative
cafe.
Creative cafes are a free monthly art event
for adults and teens at the library.
And at this event, you can drop in
anytime, again, Friday to the nineteenth between two

(08:07):
and 5PM
to explore a new art medium with supplies
for my maker cart and connect with other
creators. And December's medium that they're gonna focus
on, of course, you can bring any kind
of art product you you wish, but the
focus for this month is collage.
And then on the nineteenth and twentieth, it's
a two day event from 10AM to 3PM.
There's gonna be another escape room at the
library. This one is the case of the

(08:28):
stolen jewels.
So the library turns the river room into
an escape room over a two day period.
You can sign up with your team and
see if you can solve this heist themed
puzzle in an hour or less. And this
is an approachable puzzle that's suitable for the
entire family, they say. Now, of course, spots
are limited. They are one hour slots that
are available, and they invite you to call,
the library at (541) 469-7738,

(08:52):
or visit checkco.librarycalendar.com
to sign up for a spot.
And, then let's see. There's lots of other
things going on. We'll get to it on
another show, but again, all library led events
and programs are free to attend whether or
not you have a library card. You can
always get more info about those programs at,
checkco.librarycalendar.com

(09:12):
or by following them on Facebook.
It's a busy library. Yeah. Always. I just
try to put it out a couple weeks,
you know, just so we can get that
stuff in. Couple weeks. Couple weeks. That is
two weeks out. Yeah. Two weeks out, people.
So, yeah, you get to hear it. There
you go. Alright. Hey. Nature's Coastal Holidays going
on. It's running now until the twenty eighth
from, 5PM to 9PM at Azalea Park in

(09:33):
Brookings. Kick off the season under three plus
million sparkling lights. Opening night
already happened. The magic is going on. They
got photo ops, lights on, countdown shortly after
gates open, hot cocoa and cookies at the
snack shack,
festive photo ops all over the park, cheerful
holiday vibes and community fun. And then they

(09:54):
got Santa, and I think missus Claus there
too, scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Wednesday night,
six to eight.
The admission is $4. Kids,
12 and under are free. The proceeds help
keep this community nutrition glowing.
For helpful info,
gates open at five. Light lights close at
nine. Dress warm and wear comfy shoes.

(10:14):
Parking available near the park. Please follow on-site
signs. Yes. Oh, there you go. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. All the usual signs. If the path
path's not lit by, rows of lights, that's
not part of the light sheet. Yeah. That's
right.
Good thing to keep in mind. There's three
plus million. So yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Follow the
lights. You'll find them. Alright. Well, the hey.
The Manley Arts Center does this, workshops. And

(10:36):
for the month of December, on the thirteenth,
they'll be part of it's not a not
a workshop per se, but on the thirteenth,
they will be part of the second Saturday
Art Walk. On the fifteenth, however, they do
have a workshop assemblage jewelry.
And on the sixteenth, there's going to be
swirls and snowmen. That's part of the children's
art program. So that one's for youth. Yes,
indeedy. Hey. And then pop up toy exchange

(10:57):
at the Brookings event center located at 800
Checo Avenue. It'll be happening on the eleventh,
2PM to 7PM.
Bring a box of toys.
Take a box of toys. Gently used toys
for all ages, sports equipment, puzzles, games, all
are welcome. There you go. There you go.
Alright. I like that. That's pretty cool. Yeah.
Absolutely. Hey. Now it's time for quotes from
famous people with cousin Bruce. Yeah. Hey. Here

(11:19):
are a few quotes from old blue eyed
chairman of the board himself, Frank Sinatra.
He was born 12/12/1915.
He says, I feel sorry for people who
don't drink. When they wake up in the
morning, that's as good as they're gonna feel
all day.
It's a French you gotta love living, baby,
because dying is a pain in the butt.
He goes, the big lesson in life is

(11:39):
never be scared of anything or anyone.
And last but not least, a man doesn't
know what happiness is until he's married. By
then, it's too late. So I hope you
enjoyed this week's quotes from Frank Sinatra, my
buddy Frank Sinatra, man, with cousin Bruce. Till
next week, have a great one. You know,
he was a cool cat. I liked him.
He he was a good guy. Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah. You know? That's not funny. I've
known him. I've known him for years. So

(12:00):
I was like, yeah. He he's a good
guy. But He's known for a good assistant.
I always have to do I have to
give him tribute on his birthday every year.
And he's got tons of quotes to come
from. I'm a tell you what. Man's a
Sagittarius,
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just like right
along. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. He's, like,
ten days past my birthdays. Oh. Yeah. We're
all Sagittarius. Mhmm.
Yeah. Alright. Well, turning our attention over to

(12:20):
the Checo Pelican Players. Their theater is located
at 1240 Checo Avenue, and they are presenting
Seussical, that's a musical,
happening from the December 12 through the twenty
first. So two weekends there. They invite you
to experience a magical journey that touches the
heart and ignites the imagination,
and they say it's an experience perfect for
the entire family. Seussical beckons you into the

(12:41):
whimsical world of doctor Seuss, where beloved characters
like the Cat in the Hat, Horton the
Elephant,
Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Maisie, and Jojo come alive
with a vibrant spirit and boundless charm. The
Cat in the Hat leads attendees into the
jungle of Newell, where Horton's kind heart shines
brightly as he discovers a tiny speck of
dust holding Whoville. Now, that sounds familiar. Yeah.

(13:01):
A tiny universe full of hope and courage.
Horton, a gentle giant with an unwavering devotion,
is determined to protect his fragile speck and
the tiny inhabitants within even as he is
misunderstood,
ridiculed, and betrayed by those who refuse to
see what he knows to be true. His
steadfast friend, Gertrude McFuzz, stands by him, her
faith never wavering. In time, their friendship blossoms

(13:23):
with love that touches the soul. There you
go. They're inviting you to join them from
December
for this experience, and performances are on Fridays
and Saturdays at 7PM.
They have a Sunday matinee at 2PM, and
tickets are $15 for adults. They have $7
for students, and there are a few ways
to secure your seats. You can buy tickets
online at chetcopp.bookticks.com.

(13:45):
You can call (541)
469-1857
to reserve a seat, or you can purchase
your tickets at the door before the performance.
Doors open forty five minutes before each show
to invite you to settle in and feel
the magic begin.
Yeah. We got a couple of ceremonies going
on here. Brookings Wreaths Across America ceremony is
happening here on the thirteenth.

(14:06):
Breakfast snack, 08:30AM.
The ceremony is at 9AM. This is at
the WJ Ward Cemetery on 7th Street in
Brookings.
It's featuring VIP
speakers,
court court
court boys, Curry County commissioners, and the Brookings
mayor. Brookings
VFW will provide the honor guard and rifle
squad. Live bugler will play taps. Doctor Jessica

(14:28):
Carlson will sing. And weather permitting, a flyover
by Dan Bratton of Air Medicare.
After the ceremony ends, all who attend are
welcome and encouraged to place a wreath marked
with The US flag on each of the
veterans' graves. Hey. If you got any questions
about this, you can call Dawn at (541)
661-0462.
Alrighty.
And then there's another Wreaths Across America ceremony

(14:50):
happening on the thirteenth. This one is at
noon, and this is happening at the Gold
Beach Library up on 3rd Street. There will
be VIP speakers, including mister Court Boyce and
doctor Carlson will sing. And the Gold Beach
VFW will provide their honor guard and rifle

431-2621.
Yeah. And this, the third annual kids Christmas
bazaar. This is happening at Salmon Run Golf
Course on the thirteenth, 10AM to 4PM. There's
handcrafted gifts and ornaments,
Christmas treats and baked goods, local vendors, live

(15:33):
music and performances,
kids fun activities. For more info on this,
you can call Wendy at (541) 254-1125.
It's pretty much a Alright. It's always a
way with the kids getting Christmas. You know?
I was gonna say. Christmas, you know, have
money for Christmas. That's It works out great.
Sounds yeah. It sounds like a good solid
plan there. It's a good one. It's a

(15:53):
bunch bunch of kid vendors instead of, like,
adult vendors like we usually see. That's right.
It's pretty cool. Yes. Alright. Well, down in
Crescent City, the Elk Valley Casino is having
another holiday bazaar at the Betty Green Center,
and this one is again on the thirteenth.
It's running from 9AM to 3PM. There's gonna
be dozens of vendors featuring gifts, decors, food,
and crafts. Yes, indeed, and then, hey. To

(16:14):
make it different, on the fourteenth at the
Wild Rivers Symphony is presenting echoes in time.
This will be happening on the fourteenth, like
I said, at 3PM. This is at the
Crescent Elk Auditorium located at 994 G Street
in Crescent City. And then on the fifteenth
at 7PM, it'll be at the Trinity Lutheran
Church in Brookings.
Wild River Symphony is proud to present the
twenty twenty five winners concert, Echoes in Time.

(16:36):
This performance invites you on a vibrant journey
through drama,
lyricism, and
celebration. Vivaldi's concerto for two trumpets features soloist
David Sedgwick and Colin Kirkwood, whose brilliant interplay
brings this baroque masterpiece to life. The program
also includes Frank Ciccieli's
Acadiana,

(16:57):
colorful tribute to the Cajun spirit and musical
vitality of Louisiana.
Julie Gurok's
hymn for the innocent offers a poignant reflection
on peace and compassion,
while Samuel Haso's
ride propels us forward with exhilarating energy.
Rosanna Galante's terminus a lot of people love
this. Terminus approaching adds cinematic

(17:20):
intensity and modern flare.
Rounding out the concert, if you didn't think
that was enough, they got
Shostakovich's
waltz number two brings a nostalgic elegance and
wit and Rossini's
effervescent overture to the Barber of Sezitfeld. Now
that's one of my favorite with its timeless
humor and charm. Tickets are 20 at the
door, 15 presale, and kids, 12 under free.

(17:44):
So Oh, looks like k through 12 students
are free. K through 12. Oh, is that
what it is? Yep. K through 12. Okay.
That means anybody, if you're, if you're enrolled
up through high school, you can get in
for free. Oh, I didn't get the students,
Pat Pat Pat. Okay. Good. I dig it.
Alright. Hey. Pre sealed tickets are Del Norte
Office Supply, rights custom framing, and online at
wildriversymphony.org.
Yeah. Get them kids introduced to that kind

(18:05):
of good meeting. Absolutely. Recognize a lot of
that. I can even pronounce some of that
stuff.
Yeah. No. I'm always impressed myself. No. Those
concerts are always a ton of fun too.
No. They Yeah. Yeah. No. They're great. I
enjoyed I enjoyed seeing them in my youth.
I enjoyed, I I enjoyed as an adult.
And and sometimes I see students in the
symphony, which is groovy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh,
the Barber of Seville. That's a that's a
great one. Yeah. Alright. Well, hey. Now it's

(18:26):
time for a bit of real history with
Bushwacker Bruce. It certainly is. Right. Hey, cat.
Hey, mates. Bushwacker Bruce here, and welcome to
this week's bit of real history for your
knowledge pleasure.
Did you know that a cat was mayor
and a man left his wife during a
road trip? It's true. Here's the stories.
A cat was the mayor of an Alaskan
town for twenty years. I had some orange

(18:49):
tabby cap. Stubbs was the honorary mayor of
Talkeetah,
Alaska from 1997.
His work was largely a ceremonial one, but
Stubbs won the hearts of the locals who
proudly pointed to him as he attracted far
more visitors than any human mayor could.
Stubbs spent his days lounging at the local
general store posing for photos with visitors. He
served until his passing in 2017,

(19:11):
proving that sometimes
even politics can be perfectly
adorable.
Oh, I got a husband accidentally left his
wife behind at a gas station. In In
a bizarre twist of face, in 2012, an
Argentine couple's road trip turned into a nightmare
when the husband drove off after stopping at
a gas station, completely forgetting his wife who
had stepped out to use the restroom.

(19:32):
And wherever absent, he drove nearly 100 miles
before realizing his mistake.
Meanwhile,
the wife stranded without her phone or belongings
walked 12 miles to find out. Although the
incident led to a public apology, it's unclear
whether the wife ever forgave her husband's lapse
in attention.
Well, I hope you enjoy this week's been
a real history of yours truly, Bushback of

(19:52):
Bruce. Until next time. Hey. Always keep it
real.
I'm a tell you what. There's somebody that
was in the dog house. Probably still is.
How big was the car they were driving
in? Was it like a three row seater
kinda Escalade and she was napping in the
back? Like Oh my god. Oh. Okay. Oh,

(20:15):
no. No. No. No. No. No. You'd be
in trouble. I gotta follow-up on that. On
Facebook, there was, there was and you knew
this was real. It wasn't set up, but
it was on Facebook. It was a guy,
and he's and his his outdoor camera's catching
him. And he's and he's backing up, and
he just got from Home Depot. Right? And
he and he's pulling down his trunk and
he get ready to pull stuff, and all
of a sudden his phone rings. And he
goes, hey. What's up? And she goes, hey,
Ernie. What you doing? He goes, oh, I

(20:35):
just got back from Home Depot. She goes,
yeah. I know. I was with you. And
he goes,
the look on his face. No.
He slammed the back of that thing, and
he ran. You knew it was real because
the camera was just, you know Mhmm. It
was creeping. No. It was a and I
just went, oh, that guy. Because the look
on his face was so it was classy.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like, okay. Okay. So

(20:56):
an errand to the store is one thing.
Yeah. A 100 miles
on vacation.
Oh, in in where they were at too.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Not cool. Yeah. Yeah. No.
I I
counseling counseling is needed after that. I was
just gonna say trauma associated with this. Man.
Glad I mean so much to you.

(21:17):
Okay.
Yeah. Alright. Well, before we get into any
PSAs here, Porta Pines in South Beach area
down in Crescent City, Kenny Lee's StarMania and
Friends is playing at their Christmas Eve nineteen
sixties dance party. That's on the December 24
at 07:30PM.
And, as mentioned, there's gonna be music, food,
and dancing. And with that, let's get into

(21:37):
our our PSAs a little bit. Here we
are. Yeah. Turning our attention to Coastal Home
Health and Hospice.
They offer grief support groups at 585 5th
Street in Brookings on the first and third
Tuesdays of the month at 3PM.
These are free of charge and open to
the general public. You do not have to
have received hospice services before to participate,
and walk ins are welcome. If you need
more information about the group, you can call

(21:58):
(541)
469-0405.
That's right. And then Cascadia Pickleball Zone located
at 16185
Highway 101 South is presenting an hour of
pickleball yoga. This is happening on Mondays at
11AM, Wednesdays at 10:15AM,
Thursdays at 06:15PM,
Fridays at 10:15AM,
and Saturday

(22:18):
at 9AM.
Alright. And then KCIW has their ongoing soapbox
series.
They give folks a chance to speak their
mind, basically.
KCIW offers two minutes of airtime to anyone
who has something to say. There are a
few rules. Of course, there's no cussing, no
slandering, no advertising.
But other than that, folks can share what's
on their mind. The studio is open every

(22:38):
Wednesday from two to 3PM for people to
come in and record. Tell tell them how
you feel. There you go. Yeah. Hey. Legends
Arcade. If you're setting a trading card, game
night every first Wednesday of the month, 5PM
to 8PM. Magic's Gathering, UGO, Pokemon, and more.
You can sling spells, summon monsters, trade, or
battle with local players. And then there's another
game night over at the whimsical Griffin. That's

(23:01):
at 615 Checo Avenue over by the Redwood
Theatre. And this one is weekly, Tuesdays and
Fridays from five to 9PM.
It features Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons,
and board games. All that fun stuff. Mhmm.
Yeah. And Meals on Wheels volunteers needed. If
you'd like to do something that'll make you
and those you help very happy, if you'd
like to do something to help give back

(23:21):
to the community you love, and if you'd
like to just help out your fellow human
beings, then Meals on Wheels is looking for
you. By delivering a hot meal to those
who are home ridden, you not only help
someone who is hungry, but you also bring
a bit of kindness into their lives, a
friendly face for them to see every day,
and social contact they may not have otherwise.
There are three routes that deliver hot meals
to about 60 seniors on a daily basis.

(23:43):
Each route takes about one and a half
hours. You can volunteer by the day, the
week, biweekly, bimonthly, even if it's just one
day a week, one day a month. Hey.
Whatever works for you. Every little bit helps.
If you're interested in helping in this great
cause for the community, you can contact Meals
on Wheels via the Checkout Activity Center, (541)
469-6822.

(24:04):
Oh, there you have it. And then, of
course, one last PSA here. The Scouts of
America, they're scouting for new troop members, and
boys and girls are invited.
Troop thirty two and troop forty thirty two
are now accepting new scouts, as well as
adults who are interested in volunteering, and scouts
can join the troop from fifth grade to
age 17.
Adults are able to volunteer as long as
they're over 21, can pass a background check,

(24:24):
and are willing to spend about an hour
and a half completing a youth protection training
course. The scouts meet at Scout Hall, seven
to 08:30PM
every Monday night except for holidays. They invite
you to meet the troops and learn more
about what scouts can help you achieve. And
Scout Hall is located at 414 Azalea Park
Road in Brookings. If you need to get
in touch with troop thirty two scout master
Mark Haglin, you can reach him at (541)

(24:46):
661-2749.
And if you need to get in touch
with troop forty thirty two scout master Rebecca,
you can call (707)
951-3647.
Man, you won't be seeing Mean Junior there
yet. So You're still trying. I'm still trying.
