In each episode of “Got a Minute,” retired Methodist minister John Ed Mathison will share a small piece of wisdom to help you through your day.
The best criteria for being a good neighbor is to treat everybody just like you would like to be treated. That will not only avoid lawsuits but will create healthy relationships.
You can ride through life on His coattail if you fully desire to follow Him and you will have many more victories than you can ever imagine. He will love you, not sue you for copying Him.
One day, He will say to all of His people who have elected to follow Him, “Because of My Son, you are not guilty. Come let me show you what I have prepared for you.”
Use your time and energy to look for something good in every situation. It will not only help you face it, but will give you a much better attitude.
Solomon also wrote, “Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards.” (Proverbs 12:14)
Relationships are precious. Don’t wait for an emergency to help make one.
More people might remember the bad sportsmanship more than actually who won that particular Ryder Cup. Winning at sportsmanship is very important.
I suggest that the people you trust with important decisions are really people and are people of integrity and people who would do what you expect.
Does the way you present yourself represent who you really are? Does the nice wrapping on the outside fool people by what’s on the inside? Be real.
Being selective about thanking God for only good things can lead to pride. Thanking God for all things can lead to a proper attitude about life.
What do you have today that is extremely important to God, to you, and to other people?
If you break the rules, you will be “caught” and every choice that we make will have a consequence. Always play by God’s rules.
If you are accused of being a fake, deflate that accusation by a lifestyle that shows you to be the person that God has called you to be. No fakes.
Read the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew chapters 5-7. You will find there the best emotional support that is available, and you can receive that comfort whatever your circumstances or wherever you go in life.
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
God has a purpose for every person. Fulfilling God’s purpose is the best record we can work toward—and it has eternal consequences when we fulfill it.
What can you do today to make God’s presence felt in every situation that you encounter?
Trust Him. He is always faithful. His promises are always true. In Jesus, you find truth and trust.
Why am I surprised when prayers are answered? God can do miracles. If you pray for rain today, carry an umbrella!
Today, would you be more concerned about who is going to be on top, or who will take a towel and serve. The choice is yours.
