Las mamás son los héroes olvidados, el personal de apoyo, de los que todos dependen. Nuestras carteras contienen de todo, desde vendas para las rodillas despellejadas hasta barras de granola para los estómagos hambrientos y pañuelos para la nariz que moquea. Si lo necesita, lo encontraremos. Pero hay días en los que nos cansamos de cargar con el peso del mundo. A veces, corremos harapientas, cuidando de todos, es decir, de todos, excepto de nosotras mismas.
Llegó un momento en que Elías se cansó de cuidar de Israel. Agotado, corrió hacia las colinas, contemplando el retiro anticipado. De hecho, esperaba que Dios le diera un respiro y le pusiera fin a todo. “Solo mátame”, le rogó Elías a Dios. Estaba tan exhausto. Que deprimido.
¿Estaba Dios enojado con Elías por buscar un escape? ¿Se paró Dios junto a Elías, moviendo un dedo, diciéndole que lo juntara?
¡Todo lo contrario! Con ternura, oh, tan tiernamente, Dios envió ángeles para cuidar de Elías. Proporcionaron comida, descanso y aliento.
A veces, estamos tan ocupadas y cansadas que no nos queda nada para dar. Durante esos momentos, recuerda a Elías. Descansar, comer, nutrirse. Deja que Dios esté a cargo por un tiempo.
