Rinke Verkerk | Opnieuw heeft Israël doelgericht journalisten in Gaza vermoord. Onder de doden was Anas al-Sharif (28). Israël probeerde hem al anderhalf jaar verdacht te maken en het zwijgen op te leggen. Zijn westerse collega-journalisten hebben gefaald met zijn bescherming – ook na zijn dood.

Correctie 18 augustus 2025: In een eerdere versie van dit artikel stelden we dat in Gaza meer journalisten zijn gedood dan in de Eerste Wereldoorlog, de Tweede Wereldoorlog, de Vietnamoorlog, Afghanistan, Irak, Oekraïne, de Amerikaanse Burgeroorlog en alle andere gedocumenteerde oorlogen bij elkaar. Dat is onjuist. Wel is de Gaza een van de dodelijkste gedocumenteerde oorlogen voor journalisten ooit. Dit is aangepast in de audio.
