We leven in een buitengewone tijd, waarin oude verhalen afbrokkelen en nieuwe verhalen ontstaan. Een soort tussenfase, vol chaos en verandering – of, met een moeilijk woord: liminaliteit. Dat zegt antropoloog Jitske Kramer in haar boek Tricky Tijden. Volgens haar zijn we ‘cultureel verdwaald’ – en dat heeft één duidelijke reden. Om als samenleving weer de weg terug te vinden, hebben we rituelen en verhalen nodig. Maar welke dan? Waar vinden we houvast? Volgens Jitske moeten we ‘de sjamaan en magiër’ in onszelf aanspreken. Wat houdt dat in? En is dat een betere plek om te zoeken dan de religieuze tradities dichter bij huis, zoals de kerk?
