Vrouwenrechten staan wereldwijd steeds verder onder druk. Volgens een nieuw rapport van de Verenigde Naties is genderongelijkheid diep ingebakken in de samenleving en een Europees onderzoek toont aan dat jonge mannen meer geweld tegen vrouwen tolereren dan oudere mannen. Het is niet gek dat het feminisme weer een opmars maakt, in al haar verschillende vormen, ook in hiphop.
Voor buitenstaanders is hiphop en feminisme misschien soms moeilijk verenigbaar, maar het hiphop-feminisme is misschien nog wel liberaler dan andere vrouwenbewegingen. In deze aflevering legt onderzoeker Kim Dankoor (Erasmus Universiteit & Universiteit Utrecht) uit hoe hiphop feminisme ontstond en waar het voor staat.
