Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to episode. I didn't even look. I
didn't even look.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
I knew it didn't I didn't bring it up. I
didn't say anything.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I'm sorry that.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Episode whatever.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
If Briar doesn't care, I don't care.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
TV.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
I got a question for you.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
I cannot wait to try and answer it.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Now.

Speaker 5 (00:28):
Nobody likes slurs, right Like it's you shouldn't use slurs, however, camera, Now,
any groups people that you think should get a slur,
I'm gonna give you some examples, just to kind of
start the conversation off set the tone. I made a list.

(00:50):
I believe that people who wish we need slurs for right,
they don't care.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
People who don't us.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
That's a good one.

Speaker 5 (00:57):
You could just say all BMW drivers, people, people who
drive in the speed limit I think need a slur.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Oh dude, come on, yeah, I totally agree. It's like
this lane's for passing, people who.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Block the entire aisle in a grocery store.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Come on, man, yeah, yeah, people.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Who enter a highway at forty miles per hour, people
who use chat GPT, people who drink Harvy wallbangers, uh,
anybody from Massachusetts right now.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Massachusetts has a slur for them already, people who.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Insist, oh you know Ohio State, that's a good one. Yeah, yeah,
it really rolls off the tongue, done it.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yeah, I mean it's I didn't make it up. It's
very common. Now, I'm not saying that y'all. Are Bryer
lives much closer to you. I've never been to Massachusetts.
I am no, no, like a common term.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Personally, I've been enjoying the hatred towards robots. You know
when someone says one of those delivery robots.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Yes, nice.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yeah, there's plenty of like sci fi that we can
look for for like the best.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Robots slur, right, that's true.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, Clanker is a good one.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
That is good.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
Brian's gonna go to, uh, I don't know, one of
those restaurants like Cci restaurants when I got the robots
serving you just to use it.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yeah, the little vacuum cleaners that come up to you. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
So in my in my current context, I'm doing a
lot of Rivals Marvel rivals content.

Speaker 6 (02:43):
Right.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Oh yeah, so I've kind of been living in that
space and the people that bother me the most are
it's it's a six v six game. You have tanks, healers,
and DPS characters, right, just like you wouldn't overwatch Ideally
you want two of each, right, a well balanced team.

(03:04):
So what bothers me is when we get to the
character selection screen and like everybody locks in, you know,
like you'll get like two duel lists, two DPS ers,
one healer, one tank, and you're like, come on, we're
almost there, it's almost perfect. And then the next two
people pick damaged dealers, you know, so now I have

(03:25):
one healer or sometimes you end up with one healer
of five DPS ers and you're like, if you're the
guy that locks in the fourth or the fifth DPS or,
you deserve a slur too.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
You come here for a long time, came here for
a good time.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, it's true. There's a lot of annoying people in
the world.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, yeah, there are.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Sure I made the.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
List on numerous things. I mean, it's it's not escaping me.
I'm sure people have their nicknames.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Plead the fifth on that man, Yeah, you already call me.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
If I had a slur that reference to you specifically,
it would be a derogatory term for people who I'm
angry because they don't age like this, like you would
fall into the category of Paul Rudd.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
You know.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
It's just like, dude, when are you gonna show your SAPs?
Because I started ten years ago and it's kind of
pissing me off that you have.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
You're a dirty rudder.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
It's all lighting rudder. I don't like that. That's good.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Dirty what.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Rudder?

Speaker 6 (04:33):
Rudder?

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Okay, I get it now.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
I was like, what, Oh, it's.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Like rudders on a boat, right, and then I got
all distracted just immediately thinking about rudders, like, wow, a
dirty rudder. I'm like, that's out. Yeah, like you know,
there's all like barnacles on it. I just got that visual.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Image, but it has nothing to do with that.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Well, thank you. And also screening.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Coming up with this, Yeah you like to when you yeah,
move on.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
You look so good for your.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
It's chatsk resquito. I think that's a rest ghettoo uh
brought up that. Have you guys seen that World of
War Amazon movie with ice Cube.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
I know I've seen the memes about it.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
But it's so fucking bad.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I don't know how that stuff gets made. Dude, Ward
burned down. Yeah, it's one of those I.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Watched it like it was intentionally that bad, right that.
It's like, there's no way they could have done this
on accident.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
They did, dude, it's so bad. It was a COVID
era movie, right, so everything is filmed like from point
of view of like a laptop or a phone camera. Yeah,
because it was filled like it was filmed in like
everybody was in isolation.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
So they had to like stitch this thing together.

Speaker 5 (05:59):
But then they didn't release it forever because it's so bad,
and they finally just pumped it out on Netflix. I
have to watch it because home. I was home, like
I was home for two weeks because I had just
had like like a little medical thing, and I just
like I couldn't go anywhere for two weeks. So I
watched it. I was like starving for anything, right, dude.
It was hilariously bad. As soon as my wife came

(06:21):
home that day, I had to explain the entire movie
to her and how bad it was.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
You didn't watch it with her?

Speaker 1 (06:28):
No, I couldn't do that to her. I mean I
could be a real jerk, but I mean.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Like, honey, you have to it's so good.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Get the pop you set it up you're like, it's
so good, and then like ten minutes in Jerry's.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
You know, you don't get that kind of trust back
in a relationship, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Well, that's but yours is long eroded, way past thing.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
That's true.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Well, the fun thing, The fun thing is if you
keep the bit alive and you see how far into
the movie you can take it where she's just trying
to be polite because she thinks you're over there, Like
she's like, I don't want to hurt his feelings. This
might be the worst thing.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Yeah, that man for a movie that's really bad.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
That would be hard to act like you enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
For a long period of time, because it takes the
whole fun out of watching a bad movie.

Speaker 6 (07:21):
You know.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
My wife would tell me immediately though. I'll be like, hey,
you should listen to the song. I really really like it.
It's like my new jam. It's like two seconds and
she's like, this is trash. Please turn this off. I
do not enjoy this.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
Okay, my wife walks into a room, explains why she
hates whatever I'm looking at, and then walks.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Exactly but this is trash, all right.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Well, Where do we start this. There's a lot of
big game news.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
I have a suggestion we start with what we've been
playing and then talk about some news.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
Oh I think you just start with Double seven First Light.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
I don't know about this yesterday the.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Yeah, did anybody else have time to watch the full
gameplay reveal?

Speaker 6 (08:10):
I haven't watched it. I'm saying clips all.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
That I did I can get into if you like.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
This is made by the guys who made hit Man.
Hit Man. Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
So yeah, bring everybody back up the speed. You may
have seen like an announcement, you know, a Game Awards trailer,
stuff like that. But yeah, IO Interactive out of Denmark,
you know, has been doing hit Man forever, and if
you played a Hitman and followed them, you're like, man,
it would be so cool if like they did James Bond,
you know, and then somehow it all finally came true.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
So they've been toiling away at this coming to Xbox series,
XS PS five PC and Switch to as well. Believe
it or not, curious how that's gonna all pan out.
But yeah, they had a full demo yesterday, and uh,
before I gush about it, I'll just skip to that part.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
It looks amazing. I just have to give.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Them credit for Like I was so happy grinning ear
to ear because I feel like I got a real
demo from a real developer, and it brought me back
to like, Oh, you're just going to play the game,
like the first mission and show me the It's not
like this like trying to sell. Not that that hasn't
happened for decades, but like, you know, you used to

(09:23):
get way more gameplay reveals and trailers and things that
are like, oh, this is like actually like gameplay for
It's like a ten minute look at the game, you know,
and they're not afraid to show it. We understand it's
not finished, especially for a big franchise. So anyway, the
demo starts off and there's just like driving in the car,
you know, on the country side in Swiss Alps or

(09:43):
something like that, and show up at the you know,
the mansion, the classic Bond situation of okay, well I'm
trying to get inside this mansion and so yeah, they
basically they preview the driving, then they preview a little
bit of what's hit Man and Bond games especially are
also famous for it is like making the decision.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
You know, Oh, I kind of.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Scope the area out and you know, you got a
barrel of hay over here, you got a water hose
over here, you had an open window here, stuff like that.
So just showing off the systems. And then you know,
after they get past that, a good like ten minutes
of infiltrating the mansion, no cuts. So drove all the
way up and it's a lot of dialogue and just panache,

(10:23):
like just looks amazing.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
So are they liked guy in this or like, can
you drive up to this mansion, get out of the
car and just start exploring this place?

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Uh, well, it's not an open world like that, I
don't think, but that's what happens on the mission. I
didn't you know, watch every camera cut, but it was
all continuity from the gameplay. So yeah, you are driving
up the road, pull into the mansion. You know, I
think it's directing you where to go kind of thing.
But yeah, when you get out of the car, you know,
it just is immediately a real time cutscene as part

(10:52):
of that whole scene, and then it cuts.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Back out to you.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
I believe, like right, the camera will pull back and
show Okay, now you're at the mansion, what's next talk
to this person and.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Then get inside.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
So then they finally do the cut and you kind
of drive back out in this sports car that you
I don't know if you stole it her because they
kind of cut. So they do all the classic Bond
stuff and then you show up at like a freaking airport,
and this was where like I just I was like
pre or pre or pre or.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
I just wanted to smash the.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Button because I was so extreed, going, oh my god,
you never hear me talk like this, right.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
Are older guy? I know?

Speaker 2 (11:33):
But I do love hit I mean I like hit
Man and especially just Io Interactive, like immense respect for
their talents. There's nothing like hit Man that it's that good.
They've been doing it for so long. So in any event,
they get at the airport and they'll just say it
is so explosive. I was like gushing about the explosives,
like the way they handle the explosives. But to kind

(11:54):
of set things up again, right, it's like part of
it's like, well, I get it, you're James Bond, and
airport is gonna blow up barrels and make him explode.
And you're like yeah, but just the way they show
the fluidity of start with your pistol, you know, pick
up an SMG off the top of a barrel, like
just your point blank like run an SMG up some
guy's chest into his helm with the helmet flies off,

(12:16):
you know, shoot the explosive barrels, which the explosion effects
are so well done with the physics, you know, pipes
exploding all around, and then you're kind of climbing through.
You run around this corner. This guy's got a shotgun.
You push him off the ledge. I don't know if
he had dropped that shotgum, but then stylishly like you
kick it up off the floor of your foot, pick
it up, and he just continues to like shred blowing

(12:38):
everything up.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Then he like grabs this frame.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
This is well, I just watched it today as well,
so I'm still like, just like, it's such a great demo.
It is, to be fair, like one of those demos
that somebody played this a lot to get this, But
it was real gameplay, you know.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I wonder what a real.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
First time player goes through, Like is it one of
those where you to do what I just described and
you keep having to like restart, but anyway, let me
get to the end, because it's so like everything about
it just looks so good. But anyway, so he jumps
off the top of this scaffolding you know at the
airport here, lands on the ground again, picks up another gun,
and then like the suv start rolling in on the

(13:19):
runway and he just starts taking dout the tires and
these things are like exploding across the tarmac, and like
just the way they handle all the explosiveness and the
real time physics especially, it just looks so good.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
And all of this culminates.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
All of this culminates in him getting onto the plane
that you know is on that tarmac and it of
course taking off, which still goes into more where you
like take control of the plane's internal controls and then
you with your controller are actually tilting the plane to
try to like throw boxes and things with real time
physics in it, and then of course, like James Bond fashion,

(13:57):
you like jump out of the plane. All is this
I believe it was the first mission or something. It's
just such a great demo and yeah, I will disclose, like, well,
it's in Alpha and it's on PS five and it
was a lot of motion blur probably gonna run at thirty?

Speaker 3 (14:13):
How's it going to.

Speaker 6 (14:14):
Run on the rest? Prause bringing that up, because that's
actually what eyes let's put. You're going to go in
this quite usual optimized I'm saying a lot of skipping frimes.
I'm watching it.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
It's an alpha.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Dude, didn't play the game, just watched a demo and
this was on PS five Pro. Because of course they
probably have some deal with PlayStation. They revealed it on
the PlayStation Direct.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
So anyway, just give ahead.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
I don't know were you guys excited about James Bond
First Light at all based on what I described or
you've seen you know, are you interested?

Speaker 1 (14:46):
It comes out next March. I've always been.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
Cautiously so because, like I love the hit Man games.
I thought that Last Hit being like that last like
kind of trilogy that they combined into like one big game,
was phenomenal. I've always been looking forward to this, but
I've always been like, can they fit James Bond into
that mold? Like, well, they have to change too much
because they have the James Bond license, so that they'll

(15:12):
kind of take the the fun out of the Hitman franchise.
Like they'll have to make it too much about shooting.
They'll have to make it too much about action, not
enough about just like the crazy shit that happens when
you're setting up one of these hitman kills and then
the escape.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Right.

Speaker 5 (15:29):
But what I'm seeing in this trailer is yes, they're
keeping all that and they're just like amping it up
to like eleven.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Yeah, Like I do wonder, like, like how much of
what we're seeing here?

Speaker 5 (15:43):
Like you said, it's like this guy has played this
level a thousand times. He knows exactly how to line up,
Like he's got the he's got to truck with the
conveyor belt for the luggage, and he's chasing down the
plane and he climbs up the conveyor belt, he grabs
the fuel line, he climbs up onto the wings, and
he starts fisty cuffs and cuffing with this guy. He

(16:04):
knocks one guy off and gets blown off the train
like or off the plane wing, Like how is this
all gonna be? Like can you do this like dynamically?
Is this gonna be the kind of thing that you
just like happen into it becomes like a like an
experience that like.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Yeah, or will and it doesn't work, and it restarts
and restarts, and.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
Because at his finest was just like it's like cascading chaos, right,
It's like every you plan everything out, one thing goes wrong,
Like you know, you throw a fire hydrant at somebody said,
somebody else happens to see it, and now just like
everything's going crazy and like everything yeah, and you got
to like figure out how to like either complete your
mission or get the hell out of there.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Like, but from what they're showing, it looks like it's
gonna be that.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
But with James Bond and like driving a Jaguar and
looking suave, it looks awesome.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
Yeah, it looks great. So it remains to be seen.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
But I will say I love obviously, I love that team,
and I'm just excited that we're kind of getting this
dream come true scenario. Like I think we've even brought
it up on the show when it first got announced
or whatever. But like there's developers where you see them
making stuff right in fact, if you have any thoughts,
now share it. But like, oh, I wish they would
get to make X franchise, you know, because they're perfect

(17:23):
for it, and it's rare that you actually get to
see that come true.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
So I'm excited.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
Listen, I'm gonna offend you. I don't long it, man,
I said.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
It for starters.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Do you like Hitman type games or James Bond games
of the past?

Speaker 6 (17:40):
I mean I love GoldenEye double a Sevan That's what
I grew up on, but typical like stealth games, I've
never really got like stealth assassin games, I haven't really
got into.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
You should try to stream in the game. It is
super fun to stream. It's hilarious.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
But that but that's the thing my so hit Man game,
it feels like you're bringing and I think it's rightly so,
but it feels like you're bringing over baggage from say
Hitman to say, well, that's a stealth game.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
But that's not what this gameplay demo shows.

Speaker 6 (18:10):
I know, I agree a combination it looks more appealing
because it's a little bit more action based and bombastic.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Then I think that's what they were trying to show
and to get Like I'm asking the same question of
like wait, though, are you just gonna constantly be on
alert and nothing's gonna work because it's so hard because
you have to sneak around or you know, as they
reminded us, you have the license to kill now as
well as part of being bond in this one.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
And that is what. I didn't even realize it until
i'd gotten almost to the end.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
I was like, oh, yeah, like we're killing everybody, and
it's so satisfying because you're bond killing everybody, all bad guys.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Of course.

Speaker 6 (18:48):
I mean, you guys think it looks really good. I
don't know. I think it looks pretty standard.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
I think it looks yeah, I don't want to swell you.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
I feel like I've saying it before.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
I mean, name another game that looks like this.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
Ten years ago.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Well, Just Cause has great explosions and moments.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Yeah, I think that's a good But people liked those moments,
didn't they.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Yeah I did.

Speaker 6 (19:18):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
I'm trapping a cow to a windmill. That was my
favorite part of Just Pause.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
But like.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
You know, third person games, recent ones that yeah, have
a lot of shooting, a lot of explosions.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
I don't know. I'd have to think about that one too.
It's funny.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
I more would think of like Remnant, you know, which
is very different play style.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Yeah, I mean, but so what are some good person.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
Not really, yeah, and stuff like that, like has it
been something similar to that recently?

Speaker 3 (19:49):
So many good games.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
It's funny when you try to go through your rollodecks,
you're like, man, I I'm like a deer in headlights
even trying to think about it. I bet you there's
like ten games that match that description recently.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
But so this is just a single play experience that sorry,
seems like I.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Think as far as we know, I didn't catch them
talking about any multiplayer or anything like that or co
Oper Yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Was there any Every time I see him, I'm excited.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Every time I see him close fist punching guys with
helmets on him, Like, bro, oh, there's a lot of that.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
You mean, because it's gonna hurt him. Is that what
you're saying?

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Yeah, he's gonna break his dang fist.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Yeah, it's some implants or something you know from Q
Maybe maybe.

Speaker 5 (20:37):
I don't know that last Hitman trilogy that came out
that was several years ago, right, Like.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
When did those come out? Now?

Speaker 6 (20:46):
I'm just surprised for him because these are these are
the things you stay away from, like Gume playing Demo,
there was something in the graph Eggs and Buddy.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
I don't know it was a.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Trouble friend.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
I'm like, honestly, you have me questioning myself where I'm like, wait,
am I like somehow some like bias James Double seven
Io Interactive super fan Boy, and I don't realize like
that that gameplay looks totally You're right.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
If you enjoyed the the Hitman games, this game just
looks like it's taking that and just like amping up
the quality level to the next level. Like this looks
like the next evolution of those games, and those games
are so much fun.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Yeah, I wonder, I mean, mylin like, for real, you
might be an a something really important? Is have have
people lost faith in like these Triple A franchises? Is
it because it's bond Like in other words, if you
saw this and it was just like some random, let's say,
cool looking our style that you love, you'd be like.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
Oh that was Double seven game you play right? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (21:59):
No, I mean it's better, right.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
I was kind of excited for Perfect Dark and that
got canned, right, Ah.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Man, you had to bring it up.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
The soul leave his body and he said that just
he deflated like well, like pulling the plug up, the
fancy castle, you know what.

Speaker 6 (22:18):
Having a look at it. This is probably my major criticism,
how much of this is scripted and how much of
this is like player.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Or told me, it's a good question, you know, did
you watch.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
Like if you're just going to get on that plane
the same time each time, but if you can do
it and like, you know, I mean, guess that's the
the strength of Hitman is like you solved the problem
in your own way. If they apply this to James
Bond with lots of action stuff too, then cool. But
that's I'm just skeptical of the cinematic parts of it.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
We should always be skeptical, I agree.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
But it's interesting, you're the demo is trying to tell
you the answer that you know you want to hear
to that question, which is, yeah, that's exactly what we're doing.
Because they show you all the hip man systems and
then they show you the explosiveness and all this other stuff.

Speaker 5 (23:07):
So I am not the regular and they kind show
you him doing it like three different ways too.

Speaker 6 (23:13):
Yeah, and watch the whole thing I've just been flicking through.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Well, first of all, make sure you watch the airport
park because that was the like the part.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Okay, I just love like the explosiveness.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
I do again question like we'll play anything like that
for a first time player versus someone who scripted that.
But I am not saying you should go out and
pre order this. I have not pre ordered. It's not that,
it's just like, for what it is, I'm super excited
about it.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
And yeah, like every.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
Once in a while I pick a game or.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Two that I I get that excited about Metric four
like I've barely seen, but I feel that way.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Sure, m man, you guys really bringing me down.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
What I do now? You know how way feel?

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Frame was just sick and pissy. Don't worry about him.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
I'm so.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
I'm like, if I was shooting down as excitement, I
might actually I don't know.

Speaker 6 (24:13):
Maybe, but I like it all long enthusiastic friend playline
play telling us that was fantastic.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yeah, whying, don't worry that's coming later in the episode.
But yeah you're used to mean a battle pass and yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
Maybe that's it. Yeah, Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Actually, uh Umber from Chat brought up the you know,
Indiana Jones getting done uh so well was a nice
welcome change.

Speaker 5 (24:44):
Sure that was surprising, good example, Yeah, yeah, there's been
a bunch of good Indiana Jones. Remember that one that
was made by the guys who made the Buffy game.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
What was that?

Speaker 5 (24:59):
Something that original Xbox there's that really good Buffy the
Vampire Slayer game. And then the same guys used that
engine to make an idiot a Jones game that was
really good too.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
I don't know, we'll look it up. In the meantime,
Watts is asking she just she's been busy. I think
Watch should go, like she said, a long day. I
think Watch should probably just lay down.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
But she was asking just lay.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
Down and hang out and chat and pop up every
now and then say oh, play this game, what about that?

Speaker 5 (25:29):
Just yeah, and chat up to her whatever she watched.
She's had a tough day, but I could it's not
going to mess up the show if I was watched.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
Yeah, well, whatever's gonna be therapeutic for if if if
hopping in and just shooting the priests about video games
is therapeutic to that. But if needs some rest, do
that too.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
I feel like anyone who says should I do this
or lay down?

Speaker 1 (25:53):
Always you should go lay down. Yeah, like, don't.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
Give into like this other your worst you know, impulses.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Of like, yeah, maybe I should like, I feel bad
I didn't make the show on top.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
No, like you suld probably lay down from the sound
of it as my read.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
What else was in the PlayStation presentation? Anything else good? Oh?

Speaker 2 (26:15):
No, it was dedicated to that's dedicated to that. It's
one of those special reveals.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
The dzy ride for that developer, right is, they were
like part of Square. They got let go by Square,
but they got to keep.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
The Hitman license.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Then they get picked up for Bond and now they
get their own PlayStation.

Speaker 1 (26:35):
So that's amazing.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
Yeah, they're riding higher right now, I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
I mean that's a big franchise as well. Don't forget
how big the Bond franchise is. So, I mean PlayStation's
excited about it. I don't know what the deal is
like other than showing off PS five Pro, which was
sort of.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
The moment for them, and they get to be the
first reveal.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
Just I mean that's in other words, why does PlayStation
care so much to be revealing it? It is just
enhancing the PlayStation brand by saying, don't forget James Bond
is coming to PlayStation and you should buy a PlayStation.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
I guess it's nothing.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
More than that, because I don't think they're like working
on any movie counterpartner anything with it.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Is it Amazon and MGM now or something?

Speaker 1 (27:17):
But that's right, Amazon owns Pond now. Don't they.

Speaker 6 (27:22):
Like that?

Speaker 3 (27:22):
I mean, I think it's still the original. Get the
name of them? I just looked it up. Broccoli Family
starts with the D. The Broccoli Family. Yes, that's with
the D a J.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Anyway, Well, I'm excited about it at this point.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
Did any of you guys get a chance to check
out Silk Song today?

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:42):
Say it was launch today?

Speaker 1 (27:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:44):
Yeah you played some burn?

Speaker 6 (27:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (27:45):
I played a little bit, not not a ton.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
And you know the nature of that game, being a metroidvania,
is like you have a move and you are just
you know, just explore in the very beginning of it.
And I'll be honest with you, I am very into
SHBI right now, so it was hard for me to.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Tear myself away. I also knew, like.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
In my heart of hearts, like I'm not gonna be
able to get far enough into this game to like
really talk about it too much. My wife was watching
me play, though, and she was kind of like well,
first of all, she really was impressed by how the
game looks. It's not like, you know, she watched me
go from Shanoby to this game, and she she made
the comment like, this isn't like as detailed as Shanobi,

(28:28):
but there's something very artistic and very cute. Yeah, sure,
very beautiful about this. And then the game starts off
where I don't want to spoil anything, but you're kind
of in a cage and you like kind of fall
into this hole and then you know, the cage breaks
and you get out, and then you start exploring. And

(28:49):
she thought it was hilarious because the very first thing
I did was kind of start exploring and go around
a loop and then accidentally fall down a hole that
brought me right back to the beginning. I'm like, oh, dang,
it's all right. I didn't go that far. And then
I started exploring again. I remember to jump over that
hole this time, and started exploring again, had a little

(29:10):
tiny like first like exploratory boss fight, fell down another hole,
ended up right back at the beginning, and she just
about lost it right then. She thought that was hilarious,
But yeah, I mean it's it's definitely a Hollow Night
more Hollow Night.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
But like you know, I'm.

Speaker 5 (29:28):
Very very early into the game, so I cannot talk
at all about quality of the exploration or or like
you know, any kind of weapons or abilities that you're getting.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
I don't even have a double jump yet.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
Okay, I did not get a chance to play today,
I mean launch, Like buying it on Launch was a
hassle sites for crashing. I didn't hear that yeah but yeah,
which you know, kind of coming out with a little
bit of a speed bump. But I had other process
was working today, so I had streams pulled up because
I was like, I want to see some of the

(30:01):
gameplay and just kind of get the general vibe and
read some early reviews like Igen's already got there, like
work in progress review, going just to see what some
of the early takes are a lot of people saying,
you know, it's more of what we expected, like you're
saying brier, but and then expansions in key areas like

(30:24):
the abilities and customizing. I do think that Hornet's character
is more interesting to me, both aesthetically and I don't
know if you picked up on this, but there's more
like it's like dialogue you know, she has more character too,
or she's kind of narrating some things. It seems like
she's got a little bit of a playful edge to her,
and she is still pretty stoke, but she's not, as

(30:47):
you know, like one dimensional. So I think that her
character is, at least from a viewer perspective, so far,
I'm like, I'm more intrigued by this. I also like
the overall aesthetic of her character too, which is it
is kind of a simple design, but it is still
visually striking and immediately recognizable, you know what I mean. Yeah, yeah,

(31:11):
and I think that the spaces that I was seeing,
uh seem to have been crafted with care. So I
really do want to get around a plane it myself.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
But yeah, yeah, the game's gonna sell a ton, and
they're gonna make a ton.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
I think they can marketed itself.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
It peaked over multi ky today, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Two D Metroid Rain?

Speaker 6 (31:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Yeah, yeah, it's just one of those rare it's it's
you know, it's a uh I wanted to say, like
a miniature version of the bomb that will be dropped
by g T A six, right, But it's that right,
you I mean, think about that this is Silk Song
and it's getting half a million concurrence, and then you
have g t A six, the biggest gaming franchise in

(31:59):
the world pretty much at this point. I mean obviously
you got Minecraft and Roadblocks and stuff like that, but
uh yeah, soil Song it what was it fifteen plus
million sold I think was.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
The number I saw.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
And then now you've got the sequel, which I'm very
curious see how fast. Yeah it sells if they disclose that,
but it's obviously doing very well. I'm sure it sold
at least a few million today, have no doubt. I
mean five million concurrence. That means there's probably you know,
a million unique players just today on Steam, you know,
so that's Steam.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
Alone five hundred thousand concurred too.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yeah, but again, you know, always remember those.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
Are you said five million? I just wanted to, oh,
just five thousand. I wanted to make sure for the listeners.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
No, I didn't even realize yeah, five million, well half
a million.

Speaker 6 (32:53):
Yeah, so that's similar to the Battlefield six I've been
bite off that was just half a million as well.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
That's right, that's a good man.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
Sorry, it's pretty crazy for of the game an audience. Yeah, yeah,
I'll be playing it next week today.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Yeah, I just bought it on PlayStation. I didn't realize
there was all sorts of.

Speaker 5 (33:20):
Like problems downloaded and downloaded really fast for me on
PlayStation in.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
The middle of the day, you know, so maybe they
had something to do with it. Let's talk about buying switch.
But I don't know.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
After we talked about Shanobi, you got scared off, right,
I we.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Talk about Shanoba a little bit. Man. This game is
fucking awesome, guys, It's so cool.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
I hadn't heard that yet.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
The first we're hearing this. Tell us more.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Talk about it.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
Like there is a dedicated button on your It's not dedicated.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
It doesn't.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
It's like it does a bunch of stuff. But when
you come up to like a rate and you're running,
you can just kind of like vault over it and
keep running if you hit the R one button.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
It's like so well animated. Yeah, it is hardcore part tour.

Speaker 5 (34:11):
It is like everything feels so smooth, so well animated,
but also so tight. You know how Sometimes this used
to happen a lot in like older games. I feel
like maybe it happens less now, But there's like games
that have animation priority that make things kind of feel
a little bit sluggish.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
I'm thinking like in the two D space.

Speaker 5 (34:31):
I'm thinking like Earthworm Gym or something like Flashback, you know,
like where it's really well animated, but that animation kind
of it slows everything down and makes it feel a
little This looks animated like that, but it's so smooth.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
It's so tight.

Speaker 5 (34:47):
You have so many moves at your disposal, and you're
continually It has a shop where you're continually just buying more.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Right at the beginning, you start off as Joe Mushashi.

Speaker 5 (34:58):
He's like an expert Shanobi, expert expert Ninja, and you're
talking to your pregnant wife. You talk to your student,
and then oh, the town's being attacked, so you just
like get right into it. You start just you know,
running to the right and slashing things. They start teaching
you a couple of the different moves. You have a
heavy attack and a light attack, and you can combo

(35:20):
between them, and a lot of the heavy attack stuff
will put will shove people up into the air, and
then you can jump up and continue your combo up there.
So it's very versatile.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
With how.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
Like how you dispatch enemies, but also like how you
keep them from attacking you. And then you also have
these combos where if you get enemies down to a
certain amount of health, but you do it in a
dramatic fashion with much more heavy attacks, you can actually
use an execute move, and if you kind of move
around and get like multiple enemies into that execution kind

(35:57):
of you know mode, you can just like zip zip
zip zip and like kill them all real fast, and
that gives you like a bunch of uh like resources
like health and rage, which gives you like a super
and money for the shop. And then as you go
to the shop, you're just buying more like buying more abilities,

(36:19):
which is a nice way to do it because you're
not just getting stuff that you're never gonna use.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
You can just kind of.

Speaker 5 (36:24):
Pick pick the moves, like, oh, you know, I do
have a problem when like guys are up in the air.
I'd like to be able to keep them in the air,
juggle them more, or I want to get them back
down on the ground so I can continue in my
combo longer. Like it's it's just very intuitive with buying
your moves and getting them it feels so tight, Like

(36:45):
it feels so fast, it's so phrenetic. But you're always
in control, you know what I mean. Like you always
can see what's going on on the screen. It doesn't
get like overwhelmed with like flashy effects. You can always
like you can kind of rock what's happening, and you
can you can always like move your character and get

(37:06):
them to where you feel like you need to be
and also like kind of strategically move around the battlefield
to give yourself the best chance at survival and of
getting health.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
It's a very cool game. It looks real good.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
Every once that I'm like this might have been the
early two thousands that ruined me a little bit. Every
once that I'm like, oh, this looks a little bit
like a flash game, But that might be just because
like flash games were the first like two D games
that had like high resolution graphics. So now every two
D game that has high resolution graphics looks a little
bit like Yeah, you.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Know, it's funny you say that because I have a
friend that jokingly says this, but says that about Silk
Song as well. You know, you go, man, this this
flash game is gonna sell, like you know, fifteen millies.
But yeah, like that sort of flat style on the
backgrounds and I get that.

Speaker 6 (38:01):
But yeah, but I actually I played the demo. I
can I play the demo on Stayman, just download the
demo and do like the first area I think or
with boss.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Yeah, pretty good.

Speaker 6 (38:15):
I kept getting like there's a lot of there's a
lot of moves to like combos to try to remember.
And then yeah, as you said, you got your execution buttons,
You've got a super button, and you've also just got
like I kind of like call it like your magic button,
you know, like the fireballs, and yeah, yeah, that's what
it is. Yeah, which I always forgot what it was.

(38:37):
I always forgot to use that.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
Is there much platforming in the game as a focus
or is it literally.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
There's a lot of platforming.

Speaker 5 (38:45):
Yeah, yeah, it gets to so you know, there's some
of it that's more action, some of it that's more platforming.

Speaker 7 (38:51):
So there is something in between of like yeah, and
there's it's level based, so you go from one level
to another level, but each level it has a little
bit of like exploration to do and somebody in the
areas to find, so it's like a little bit of
Metroidvania in there.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
Yeah, but you don't have it doesn't seem like you
have to interact with it if you don't want to.
But there are unlocks that can give you power ups
and you know, unlock new abilities and weapons which I
haven't gotten yet, because you do have to go back
once you've unlocked abilities, like right, you know, you unlock

(39:29):
it like a like a powerful punch that could break
through barriers.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
And yeah, so like you.

Speaker 5 (39:38):
Start that, you get that in like level three, then
you could go back and play the first two levels
and find those barriers that you weren't able to break through.
Or there's like grappling points. You don't have a grappling hook,
so you can go back and do that.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Uh yeah, And I asked that to you because did
you I can never remember you played Prince of Persia
The Lost Ground or yes, okay, cool.

Speaker 6 (40:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
It just maybe reminded me how good action platforming, you know,
in this style can be. You shouldn't just look at
it and be like, wow, I don't know, it's not
a big three D game. You're like, man, Prince of
Persia Lost Crown was a Game of the Year material,
So yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Play it. If y'all didn't that was from last year.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Yeah, it was phenomenal.

Speaker 5 (40:25):
There's a new Principal Persia game, like a rogue like
that actually looked pretty good.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
Yeah, it's actually called Rogue, is it. I thought it
was gonna like Prince of Persia. I'm gonna look at
a rinking rogue.

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Oh the rogue. That's what the rogue. Prince of Persia.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
That was like another Prince swing from Ubisoft.

Speaker 6 (40:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
It's good reminder too, Like I don't know how that
one turned out. It's got a lot of very positive feedback.
I remember hearing good things about that too, So yeah,
I mean it goes back to Silk Song, right, It
like it all lines up in the whole. Like there's
so many metro veins and games of this style that
you're like they're all good, right, and you're like, yeah, actually,
what makes Silk Song so much better? You know, I

(41:15):
haven't played by the way people talk about it. I'm
like curious to see how that pans out, you know,
in a year where you've got say Shnoby, which is incredible,
and I don't know if there's.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Any other stiff competition in that style.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
I mean, granted, Silk Song just came out month.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
Oh yeah, that's right, that Ninja guid in Rage Bound
called Rage Bound. Yeah, but Silk Song's not as fast
and furious in the combat, right, I mean you get
into combat, right, But.

Speaker 5 (41:47):
Yeah, I haven't gotten there in Silk Song, but I
assume it's gonna the first out and.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
I got difficult mm hmmm.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
We're eating good a z always Yeah, fran and.

Speaker 6 (42:01):
I and what was actually played Kronos, I can't.

Speaker 1 (42:06):
Wait to hear it about this.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
Oh big news.

Speaker 6 (42:09):
Yeah, very dead space. You're gonna get very big dead
space vibes all even including like the stump mechanic and
the malee mechanic, and just kind of how the character
controls you know, heavy intentionally heavy. You know, you're not
omni omni directional dolphin diving all the duty, you know,

(42:34):
like it's you know, intention of that to suit the
survival horror genre. The environments look great. It's kind of
a mixture of sci fi and I don't know, resident
with lots of like kind of abandoned towns, like you're
going through posts apocalyptic area. I think it's Poland or Russia.
I'm not too sure exactly. It's Poland.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
In that on the time period though, It's like, what's
great that there is like a you know, Cold War
block I think I forget which term, but yeah, it's
totally Russia included.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
But it's important.

Speaker 6 (43:11):
Yeah, you don't really know exactly what's going on. You
kind of just get thrown into it and you start
piecing stuff together. The idea being you're from the I
see what you think, fran this is what I think
is going on. You're from the future. You're sent back
to these time periods to extract people and memories, to

(43:34):
try to advert to try to prevent this thing coming
to pass, you know, trying to prevent this apocalypse and
and for whatever reason, this virus, this pandemic that's happened.
I think people have turned into monsters from it, Like
I think they are humans. We don't really had that
confirmed yet.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
Yeah, I'm so far into it. It's what it sounds like. Yeah, yeah,
it almost the last of us kind of thing people.

Speaker 6 (43:59):
But there were yeah, it was big warnings of like
this might trigger people who had a rough time during
COVID basically because all the law that you read during it.
It's like Lockdown Military. Yeah, you get a lot of
characters through the writings that you read, like you know,

(44:23):
different opinion about what's going on, and you know you've
got your conspiracy brides in there too. You're gonna go find,
you know, people that I think someone else is going on.
So I think the story is probably the the most
interesting aspect. I haven't really seen the combat like evolve
much yet, very like typical survival horror, like you constantly

(44:47):
feel like you're out of health, you're out of AMMO,
and you have to manage that as you go through,
similar to Resident Evil, like Okay, I've got five bullets,
like I need to make sure hit these shots, or
you know, use the environment to destroy the enemies. There's
often like barrel barrels and like other things you can

(45:08):
bait enemies into to blow them up.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
Did you on that note, I don't know how many
hours you played or whatever, but did you Yeah, I mean,
did you find it intense the combat that it was?
Like dang, this is kind of like because there's no
difficulty mode, So I think.

Speaker 6 (45:25):
They've they've balanced really well, like and I think you
kind of need to do that with some other horrors otherwise,
you lose the horror aspect as soon as you get
like so as soon as I ever felt like, oh man,
I've got like a couple of heels, I've got like
twenty bullets, I've got two shotgun rounds. It's kind of
like you know in resident and be like fuck, yeah,
bring on a zombies, motherfucker. Yeah, ive like I'm I'm loaning.

(45:46):
And then of course it through like a big area
with five or six and you're back down to like
a single bullet. I really hope the same point comes up.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
So yeah, you know, I think they've got that, and
I think I was really happy for that. Is why
I stopped on that point to bring it up. I
was like, you don't. Part of it is I punish
myself by and I do this all the time. I'm like, man,
I like it difficult. I'm not going to use my
skill points until I have to. And there's an upgrade system.
And of course the first upgrade I took was just

(46:18):
like I'll just take more inventory because i'd rather stock
up than i'd rather or it's a resident eval inventory,
so it's literally one of the grid things and you're like, well,
I need one more square, so I can hold one
more thing.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
And well I did that.

Speaker 2 (46:33):
I definitely feel like it punished me a little bit
because I got into the first big snow spoilers.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
I'm not going to get into detail, but a.

Speaker 2 (46:40):
Big like first area where they just throw a bunch
of the enemies right in your face.

Speaker 6 (46:45):
I found that first area of the hottest area and
it hasn't been hot since. I reckon for something.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
Is just the one where well you fall through a floor.
Yeah that one. Okay, so that was hot. Spoiler you
died there?

Speaker 6 (46:57):
I would hope.

Speaker 4 (47:00):
You die.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
Yeah, yeah, but I only Tolory upgrade died.

Speaker 6 (47:06):
Maybe died since But that was probably the only part
I've had to repeat a couple of times.

Speaker 3 (47:11):
Yeah, that one I just kind of got stuck on.

Speaker 6 (47:13):
But I was.

Speaker 2 (47:14):
I was a little distracted by some settings and other stuff.
But but yeah, the game's awesome.

Speaker 6 (47:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:18):
Watts is hanging out in Chad. I know I can
speak for her. She was really into it. She puted
like eight hours.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
Uh, she was actually noting I guess the Traveler is
the character name, I think, but she had said that
the character doesn't even know there's kind of following orders.

Speaker 3 (47:33):
Yeah, warping some space time in.

Speaker 6 (47:35):
Here, you definitely get this idea that you're part of,
like you're the soldiers of the time. Lord's right. It's
very like the collective, secretive organization, and you'll the single
time traveler gets pushed out to complete the mission and
you don't always really know what the mission is until
you know what you get given. Yeah. Yeah, so it

(47:57):
has that vibe to it, which is pretty class thing
for like time travel stuff is like we can't tell
you otherwise you affect time itself, so like you know,
we're going to send you there first and then tell
you the mission. But the story is really good. I
think my gut reaction is you probably play it to
see this story unravel. I don't know if the combat, Like,

(48:20):
the combat is definitely enjoyable, but I don't think it's
like best in the genre for like some horror. I
don't think it's like groundbreaking or anything kind of there's
no crazy spins on it yet that I've really seen.

Speaker 3 (48:33):
Shooting, I think it's good.

Speaker 6 (48:35):
I like the environmental. Yeah, you get different guns, you
get shot gun, and you get you a lot of
inventory for the.

Speaker 3 (48:43):
Genre assume for you too, right, So it's.

Speaker 6 (48:45):
Yeah, it's still got to development for sure. I think
I am about uh six hours in, so there's still
plenty of time for it to change. But I wouldn't
be upset if it didn't change either, Like I wouldn't
be like I wouldn't be upset with the quality of
the common bad and upgrades and that if it didn't
drastically change, because I probably still say I'm there to

(49:05):
see how the story unravels, and the world is kind
of cool to being basically.

Speaker 2 (49:09):
Yeah, yeah for me, other than well, first I'll just
get out of the way that I'm playing on PC,
and yeah, it was distraction. It's another Unreal Engine five
game that is just uh, you know, plagued with stutter problems.
And so if you're having that and you have a
really nice rig, which I have a good setup, and.

Speaker 3 (49:30):
It's it's not just me I looked around into it.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
It's a lot of people. So if you have right
tracing on unfortunately, as good as it it may look,
that's not going to do you any favors. And there's
just some like traversal stutters, and I hope you by
all the same to Double O seven.

Speaker 6 (49:45):
First lot you hear.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
It doesn't run realizing five it runs on io interact
as proprietary Glacier Engine.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
So why would you ever run.

Speaker 5 (49:55):
Smooth Glacier engine. I've been that runs crystal smooth.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
It's icy frame rate.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
No, I really it did actually look like you could
have a bunch of those types of issues. But anyway,
putting aside that, in other words, I didn't get to
play it on console, I hope it's just kind of
like locked closer to the thirty frames or whatever, and
it's solid. But putting all that aside, man, I just
want to say, yeah, these are the types of games
that I want.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
I really, As you may.

Speaker 2 (50:24):
Remember on the podcast if you've been listening for years now,
dead Space twenty twenty three, how many times have I
told y'all to please play that game? I want more
games like this. I was so happy they redid it,
they added content. This was from Motive, who now got
put on Battlefield because you didn't buy it and they
didn't get enough they would do Dead Space two or
maybe a sequel. It is by these games.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
But that's my point.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
This is the type of game that if you do
love it actually like I do, And I was getting
to my it's point of like, yeah, like it doesn't
seem to be like innovative, and who knows, it's early
for me, but it's good.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
It feels good.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
The animations are like really like when you reload your guns,
like it just sounds great.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
It feels good, and it's just fun to.

Speaker 2 (51:10):
Walk around in those It's yeah, resident evil with like
heavy dead space, you know, suit and shoes on, and
everything is very slow and methodic so far, and you
have to be really careful with crafting AMMO and how
much you use and all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (51:24):
And you know, we'll see.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
One of the mechanics in the game that I think
is interesting, which heightens things is so you can kill enemies,
but if there's enemies alive, they consume the dead bodies
to become stronger, and we'll be putting on like armor
and transforming and it's it's definitely annoying, but in a
good way.

Speaker 1 (51:43):
So far.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
I'm like, oh God, I gotta take these enemies down.
So I'm definitely liking it so far. But it feels, yeah,
like a strong, more resident evily experienced but inspired by
some of that dead space feel.

Speaker 6 (51:55):
Yeah, how do you think about like the suspense and
like horror or like I definitely had a couple jump scares,
but I don't know if it's I wasn't feeling anxiously
tied time like some of these games, like I feel
like everything's going to kill me all the time, and
I'm piking around corners where I felt like this is

(52:17):
like there were definitely tweaky like it's it's a bit yeah, yeah, exactly,
it's more jump scary things like creepy kind of deal
an atmospheric.

Speaker 2 (52:27):
Yeah, yeah, it's been very atmospherically moody, creepy. Everything is
very dark and moody, and like I actually I love
it for those reasons. And in fact, I think you
see the Silent Hill inspirations of like a lot of
fog and you know, just atmosphere everywhere you go and
walking around. Yeah, not too many jump scares. I mean yeah,
I think they tried a couple, but they're not. It's
not trying to be like, yeah, Residentaval, which can a

(52:49):
lot of times like really try to like with sound
and cut scenes trying to jump scare you. I've don't
run into that, but it's definitely meant to be the
intensity of yet only having that one bullet left and
getting the job done or you're going to die kind
of thing.

Speaker 1 (53:03):
So it's got that going for it.

Speaker 4 (53:05):
I don't dislike that style, but I think I prefer
I think a good example would be the game control
from Remedy, where you get that creepy factor in a
lot of these places, you're also really powerful, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 6 (53:22):
Yeah, And it's closer to Yeah, I think it's closer
to what you mentioned this When I was I was like,
I feel like this is closer to like Alan Waken Control,
where you're kind of playing with this, like to see
this story unfolding, and it's not like super Jump scares

(53:42):
all the time, more atmospheric, more kind of just being
absorbed in the world. And then there's some moments that
have like high action, but for the most part you're
kind of like moving around and trying to piecings together,
like reading reading notes of what people left behind. And
they've got this feature where if there's something written on
the wall and I aim at it, it will bring
up the text of it. So there's a lot of

(54:06):
storytelling where you should should be looking at like posters
and calendars and yeah, start the walls and stuff like that,
and it tells a story that way.

Speaker 3 (54:17):
Yeah, I do like it for that.

Speaker 2 (54:18):
There's no like cut scenes explaining what's going on so much.

Speaker 3 (54:22):
You get some narration and stuff with the traveler.

Speaker 6 (54:24):
There there's some cut scenes coming.

Speaker 3 (54:27):
Well there's some, but oh you're coming still, you're.

Speaker 6 (54:30):
Saying, yeah, I think you haven't got them yet.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
Yeah, I only got to like, there's a town, you
know that's sort of foggy town if that makes sense
to you, with a big apartment something.

Speaker 3 (54:39):
That's where I'm at right now.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
Okay, but yeah, I mean, but there is a lot
of story told through the game, like you've been getting out,
which I appreciate.

Speaker 6 (54:47):
Yeah, so it's cool.

Speaker 4 (54:50):
I mean, I recommend it any plans to play Hell
as US.

Speaker 6 (54:55):
I wish I've been on the face with this, but
I have to hearing like Watts, and I've been. I've
seen some people talk about it a bit more. It
I think I really appreciate, if only just support them,
because I think I really appreciate what they've done, and
I don't think I really say about it. Is how
there's no like objective markers on the map and no guidance.

(55:18):
You've just got to talk to people, have a notepad
next to you and take notes and be observant. And
I kind of really appreciate that, because I don't think
you really get those kind of games anymore. And I
think anyone who likes open more games kind of fell
in love with that kind of aspect of open more
games is like not having objective markets everywhere and just

(55:40):
kind of stumbling upon something, accidentally solving something or intentionally
remembering when something is and and you know, finding it,
so that that seems really cool for sure. But I
haven't played. I've watched What's Play a little bit, and
I've seen a couple videos on it saying.

Speaker 1 (55:56):
This looks great.

Speaker 3 (55:58):
So nobody here played it them?

Speaker 4 (56:00):
No, I didn't.

Speaker 6 (56:04):
I was too busy for filling our fundraiser requirements.

Speaker 4 (56:08):
Yeah congrats.

Speaker 6 (56:10):
Let play League legends.

Speaker 1 (56:13):
Oh how that go?

Speaker 6 (56:16):
Because that was our last for g c X. I
would play League, and I hated every moment. Oh my lord,
one of the most popular games in the world. Thankfully,
we had once and her league team playing with us.

(56:39):
At least I could talk to people and give instruction,
but man, getting into a pre established moment ain't for me.

Speaker 2 (56:48):
Yeah, nobody but Watts plays League. But nobody else here does, right, Yeah,
you have to bring this back up when when.

Speaker 3 (56:54):
She's on next week, is yeah, true, I want to
hear her grillly over it. Well, but not for you,
not your game.

Speaker 6 (57:04):
I think. I don't know. It's one of those like
it made me think, like this game is so ridiculously popular,
can anything knock off it? Like compete with them mobile wise?
I mean, I guess we're getting Deadlock at the moments,

(57:25):
which is still in development or whatever it's called, uh,
which seems to be received well. But like I feel
like that mobile market is so locked down between DODA
and legal gend and like people are so locked into it,
like it's hard for something to come along and yeah,
throw dethrown it like I was. I loved Paragon, played

(57:48):
so much Paragon back in the day by Epic Games
before Fortnite popped off, and you know, it was kind
of excited to start a mobile that wasn't also top
down all that was like that person then that doed.
I guess it's coming back now because they they they
just gave the IP to everyone, so someone's picked it

(58:09):
up and has made it, oh continued it.

Speaker 3 (58:14):
Yeah, I mean I think part of it. Tell me
if I'm wrong, since you've played it now.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
But yeah, I mean I've always wanted to try Lea Legends,
but it definitely it always feels like the farther you
get away from like whenever it launched, people got any
and you're like, don't even touch it because you're gonna
get smashed if you like, who do you even play with?
At the level you're at, which is zero? If you
start that game, right, is it possible getting new players?

Speaker 3 (58:36):
Probably is a system. You know, we'll have to ask
wats next week.

Speaker 2 (58:39):
But mean, I think it's fair that a lot of
us get that impression it's Destiny's problem, right, Like people
are like, even though it's not.

Speaker 3 (58:45):
As bad as it it.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
I mean it it is bad, but it's not as
bad as I think, like the impression can be. Sometimes
it's like, yeah, well play the game for a few days,
you'll be fine. But it's just when you dive in,
you're like, I don't even know what to do.

Speaker 3 (58:58):
What are you talking about? You're asking me to pick up?

Speaker 6 (59:01):
Yeah, there's so much baseline knowledge, and like the thing is,
I went into it with a baseline knowledge of how
mobiles already work and how like roles in mobiles already
work because I kind of knew that from playing Paragon
and playing Deadlock and that kind of stuff, So I
kind of know it's a jungler, a top laner, mid laner,

(59:24):
you know, a bottom laner, a carry you know. I
already knew the foundations of last hitting, buying items, and
even then, it's like.

Speaker 4 (59:35):
It's like the difference between knowing some vocabulary of a
new language and then hearing somebody speak it at normal
base and like, yeah, like I'm lost.

Speaker 5 (59:48):
Yeah, yeah, sorry, wrap back to chronics real quick.

Speaker 1 (59:52):
That's coming on on the switch To.

Speaker 3 (59:55):
No, it's not ye coronas the New Dawn.

Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
Yeah, how are they going to get that to run?

Speaker 5 (01:00:04):
I'm looking at a video now comparing it to the
PS five pro version.

Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
I mean it is very GPU heavy. I'm sure it's
CPU heavy too, but.

Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
I typed it in Google and one of the first
headlines was New Dawn on switch To suffers major downgrade.

Speaker 6 (01:00:22):
But that is surprise.

Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
But wait, it's.

Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
It's out.

Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
Wait, it's you.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
Can buy it on switch To.

Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
It's coming out tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
Oh okay, Justice and played on switch I would not
be doing that, but I'm going to be very curious
to see this, So.

Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
That sounded like a personal challenge. Myleer your money.

Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
On the other side, though, we should say awesome, good
job putting on switch to. Unlike Shanobi, shame on you
for not putting on.

Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Switch to you know what game should be on?

Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
Switch to make an effort, and they're out there. They're
showing up, So good on you, Blueber and Friends.

Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
Yeah, uh, what else we go going on?

Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Try I take a quick Destiny to insert real fast.

Speaker 6 (01:01:22):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
I was going to ask about the Destiny Rising raid too,
if any of guys did some.

Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Of that, well we should cover both things maybe, But
did anyone here play Destiny Rising yet?

Speaker 6 (01:01:33):
Nope?

Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
I only talked like fifteen minutes, so not qualified to
talk about.

Speaker 4 (01:01:39):
We should have Tasty come on this week.

Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
Yeah, that's right, we got dude. He's of course, he's
all in.

Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
Oh he's so in.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
You're gonna get the scoop on.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
How much money he's actually spent. You know, he doesn't
talk about.

Speaker 6 (01:01:51):
Yeah, we haven't people hit the wol yet? Is there
a wool? When's the wool?

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
Like?

Speaker 6 (01:01:56):
When is the Oh my god, I just hit the
I have to spend real money.

Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
Now, Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Here's all I'll say about it is, I've heard a
lot of good impressions. People are just happy to play
New Destiny content that's new for the sake of being new,
you know, but that it's actually totally decent and the
campaign is decent and it's all free, and I haven't
heard too much about you know, all those paywall or
pay the play type things, and like this is the
same you know, publisher and all that. Diablo Mortal has

(01:02:25):
gone through a lot, but it's actually pretty.

Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
Solid, I believe, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
I don't play it, but I have a good friend
that's super into it and in this scene, and he's
talked a lot about how yeah, like there's some things,
but actually it's quite good, you know. And it it's
managed to even push Diablo in some ways, right because
they're experimenting with certain things, so you know.

Speaker 6 (01:02:46):
I mean that if they did that, well, then I
mean that's always the complaint with a friend to play
mobile is like it gets you hooked in the first
twenty hours and then all of a sudden, I was like,
what the fuck? You just hate this matter character? You
have to stop buying characters. You have to start spending
some currency to really progress without putting in tens of hours.

Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
You know, so it's not usually going to, say ten
thousand dollars twenty hours. So yeah, I don't know, but honestly,
maybe in chat, if there's anyone who's played it that
has had a negative impression, I'd be curious.

Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
But I've actually heard mostly like, you know, reasonable, like yeah,
it's not bad, you know, or I like it. I've
been playing it, so that's.

Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
Why I have heard it. It feels better on pacy
than mobile, which is weird.

Speaker 3 (01:03:34):
Well you can't you can emulate in PC. It's not
officially on PC, right, but you can emilate.

Speaker 6 (01:03:39):
But like, it's weird that it feels better than.

Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
Maybe people were just talking about they didn't use a
controller on mobile because like, I don't know why it
would be different other than maybe it's the screen size,
you know, but but.

Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
I use the controller, so yeah, I don't want.

Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
To play it with the the screen controls. Oh yeah,
Wat's saying Nettie's does provide an emult that's interesting, But.

Speaker 6 (01:04:04):
I mean they did that, so did the right thing
that knowing that Destiny's on PC and like console just like, Wow,
actually understanding the audience pretty impressive. Yeah, I understand that
the streamers wanted to play showcase. The cultic grid is
all there trying to make videos.

Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
Again, it's not their first rodeo, right, so you know
they have experienced dealing with I think Diabo Mortal will
probably be in mobile only and all that first and
all that.

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
So but anyway, yeah, I mean I would like to
play some.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
I just like, I don't play mobile games unless they're
like I really liked like Grindstone and like games more
like that Bilatro. I think, you know what, I don't
play it on mobile, but stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
I more enjoyable anything with controls.

Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
I end up I'm using a controller, which I did
do for Desting, right.

Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
And then I'm like this tiny screen, laying it on.

Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
Its side or propping it up on a tripod just
to like obviously I should you know, I wanted to
try it on mobile, was why? But you know it
sounds like you can get it on your PC pretty easily.

Speaker 3 (01:05:12):
Is a better way to do it.

Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
But if I'm on my PC, it's like my point is,
I'm there's all this other stuff I want to play.
So but I've heard mostly good things, so it'll be
interesting to see. I think it's worth noting. I'm curious
what you guys think on this. Actually, here's why I read.
You're like, so, what's going on with Destiny Rising as
a bet from Bungee? You know, now, Sony, because you're

(01:05:34):
at this situation where Edge Offa came out, Destiny Rising
comes out, that's free, and it is actually getting some
some conversion. I think of Destiny players that are going
to play that instead, and I think absolutely that's a factor.
And you can look at it and say, well, I'm
just guessing this number, but Bungee is going to make
fifteen percent of the revenue, so they're like good new
income stream.

Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
But what you don't want is those people converting to.

Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
That right where you only get say, my made up
fifteen percent revenue when you want them buying the next expansion.

Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
Yeah, so that's a scary bet.

Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
However, I think this it's there's that like, if this
game can go on to make two billion dollars and
they're able to carve fifteen percent out or whatever it is,
and eventually, you know, when this comes to PlayStation or however,
it would work out for them, they'll get even bigger
cuts of all this stuff. As complicated as I might be,
I think there's that's part of it. They're like, we
just want to make money and we'll let them do

(01:06:31):
what they did it with the Elbow Immortal. I don't
know what those economics look like, but probably quite good
for Blizzard. But I think the other side is the
one we forget, which is, oh, there's all these people
that are going to try Destiny for free because it's
not a free game truly. There's a bunch of paid
content and also just mobile so accessful, and what if
it does become super popular and they decide to try

(01:06:53):
out core Destiny. I think that's part of their big bet,
because what you don't want to do is Loseesney players.
But I think obviously mobile the history is more like, oh,
you're going to pick up, like whatever, fifty million players
after a couple of years, Maybe what what can you
convert them to Destiny?

Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
I'm assuming that's where their head's at with it, but
I don't know what you guys think.

Speaker 6 (01:07:14):
I'm kind of think that it provides an avenue for
players who put down Destiny to just keep playing Destiny.
So it's like I'm interested in how many people who
picked up Dead Destiny Rising lapsed or were Destiny players
that were unhappy with the grinds or unhappy with Bungee
and like, rather than play something completely different than like, well,

(01:07:36):
just keep playing Desciny.

Speaker 4 (01:07:37):
To be familiar.

Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
Yeah on mobile.

Speaker 6 (01:07:40):
Yeah, and that might be this kind of synergy where
maybe Bungee can trying to get Destiny back on track
and people can have a healthier Well I don't think
it's healthy if you plan on that, but like, do
you know, like when I look at the war Frame
nearly like all the Warframe players are just like I
just come back to Warframe when they drops, you know,

(01:08:01):
and I play it for a bit, I get the stuff,
and I leave again. And I can kind of imagine
that happening with with Destiny and Destiny Rising. Is like
people spend more time with Destiny Rising, and maybe they
come back for a drop and see if the things
have improved and if they like it, and then if
they don't, they just continue Destiny Rising.

Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
Yeah, that's another interesting way to look at it, Like
it keeps them in the Destiny ecosystem, It.

Speaker 6 (01:08:25):
Keeps them in the franchise basically, yeah, and they were
probably seen a lot at launch anyway. Like I think
a lot of people in my community anyway have picked
up Destiny Rising who weren't actively playing Destiny.

Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:08:40):
I mean you can look at it like from that
point of view, is bungees just put another net underneath
them to stop you escaping.

Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
Net ease.

Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
Yeah, I mean that's an interesting way to look at it,
as like even though you know it is, they've licensed
it out, you know, to net ease, and I'm sure
Eddies makes a lot of the revenue. It does keep them, yeah,
like always thinking about Destiny no matter where they go.
I hadn't thought about that part of it either, which
is interesting. It'll still keep you in there. So yeah,

(01:09:13):
we'll see where Destiny Rising goes, ye'all. We'll have to
have someone on who actually plays it. You can talk
about it in detail because we've asked. Apologies, folks, we've
asked a few weeks now, but uh, yeah, I mean, look,
there's so many other good games that you know DCP
now is uh it's DCP was born out of Destiny
Community Podcast, right, so just called DCPA. Keep going a

(01:09:34):
Disney Community podcast.

Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
You're gonna be dispressed.

Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
That's a comment every week on the YouTube ubbloads. Yeah,
it's like, yeah, this is supposed to be a destny
podcast's in the name, and none of you guys played desk.
It's like, you know, I totally understand that. I think,
I mean, I think that's a fair thing to to say.
But also it's to rebrand a whole show just because
we're not not all of us are super knee deep

(01:09:59):
into Destiny anymore. It's a really big challenge too.

Speaker 6 (01:10:02):
Yeah, so I like friends analogy, like, well, it's like IGN,
what is RGN.

Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
Stand for nothing less? They changed it since I left,
but it used to Yeah, it's the same. It's a
similar story. It was the Internet. It was a couple
of things, but originally it was Imagine Games Network because
Imagine was the publisher was owning them at the time.
And then it turned into Internet Game Network and then
they thought that was dumb. That's a really dumb so
let's not do that, and then it's like just IGN,

(01:10:29):
you know, And so I think DCP but had a.

Speaker 6 (01:10:33):
Request though, and uh, look I should have talked about offstring,
but whatever, I'll say it now. We're on the on
the topic of feedback, people have enjoyed when I bring
up my screen, Like we talked about trailers and stuff,
and I have a whole bunch of trailers lined up
and ask if it's a way to maximize my screen
to make it a little bit easier to say, so
maybe we can we can talk about that. I don't know,
it's a bit hot with that.

Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
Oh you'll have to get bried have a scene switch
on that one.

Speaker 6 (01:10:54):
It would have to be stuff. But if you've asked
that I have, I have heard it. So we're talking
big Damn I releases.

Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
It might be a good segue. We've been talking about
Nettie's obviously, but Marvel Rivals says their brand new season
this launching next week.

Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
Well, maybe you put a pin in that because I
still had to talk about Destny too.

Speaker 4 (01:11:17):
Oh there's another Destiny game. We're still talking.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
Yeah, but Marvel Rivals next.

Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
That cool and the thing in between, Briar, though you
didn't say anything on the name.

Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
Do you have any feedback on the naming? What do
you think?

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
You're the og here dude, like you know came before
all of us. I mean, I want to hear it
from Captain Bryar.

Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
What do you think about the DCP thing and the name.

Speaker 5 (01:11:42):
I mean, we've tried to like kind of add the
side quest to it. Is there anybody who really expects
us to talk about Destiny anymore?

Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
You know what I need it?

Speaker 7 (01:11:52):
I asked.

Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
I got the answer that, oh, man, I was open
you were going to appeal to them a little bit,
but we are about to talk about destiny too, Okay,
But that's that's how you feel. Yeah, you're like, yeah,
like we've been doing this a while, it shouldn't surprise you.

Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
Right, No, it's been a long time since we've been
like really kind of devoted to Destiny.

Speaker 6 (01:12:12):
Yeah. I had someone wait me yesterday, Well, I twitted
at both for whatever reason, and then replied to their
own comments at both, did Marlin Games really lave? I'm like,
it's been over a year. My lost responded, Yeah, it's

(01:12:36):
in July twenty twenty four, was my lost Destiny VideA? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
I my yeah, my view would be honestly, yeah, it's
like Briar's right, you probably shouldn't be that surprised by it.
But also, I mean I do play Destiny to just
not like as hardcore as y'all. And I know it's
nice to have on folks that because there's a lot
of Destney players still that listen.

Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
But it's never been the only thing we talked about.

Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
Here anyway, So yeah, I shouldn't be and it's not surprised.

Speaker 4 (01:13:04):
Yeah, this is interestingly not playing it and like cheering
against it. None of us are Destiny haters, like I'm not.
I'm I will always cheer for Destiny to succeed. I
want the passionate people at Yeah, three quarters of us
are not test the haters I will always cheer for
to succeed. I love that universe, the lore, the characters,

(01:13:27):
the stories, the journeys we've been through. I have very
positive memories and experiences. But man, yeah it was a
decade and sometimes you just end up other places. I
think that's totally okay.

Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
Yeah, and it's not like, yeah, nobody's hating against it,
so so.

Speaker 1 (01:13:45):
Yeah, be nice about your feedback.

Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
If you want to know about Destiny too, leave a question,
But don't be mad at us if we're not talking
about it every week. Right that being said, I do
try to talk about it and bring up the important stuff,
and here we go, so they didn't on Tuesday, they're
gonna it. Was surprised then I kind of forgot not
about they have a new major update coming. This will
be the first major update, which is a lot of

(01:14:08):
new free.

Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
Content, new activity. We're going back to the Plague playlands.

Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
By the way. Yeah, so that's just interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
Yeah, they're doing some like dungeon Lyer like hmm okay again,
oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
Yeah, half of us are not Destiny haters.

Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
I mean, well, you know what's funny is, even as
we brought up all this, like we had just segued
out of talking about how mad Destiny players are.

Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
So they're playing Destiny Rising, so it's let.

Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
Me come on, like there's a lot of people that are,
you know, plenty upset with Destiny, right, But so anyway,
it's Star Wars Renegades, sorry, Destiny to Renegades, which is
inspired by Star Wars. I forgot you know that they
are of course going to show more. I was surprised
that they said they're gonna show even more this coming Tuesday.
So I'm really curious what they have to say about

(01:14:55):
this is for the December update. I had, I think
previously even called that on the show. I was like,
I don't think we'll hear about that till like late
October November, you know, And so for us to hear
about it this soon is is interesting. So very curious
about that, So that was big. I also thought it
was worth noting that they talked about the voice actor stuff,

(01:15:17):
which if you remember, I Kora was voiced by Sabbath Thoon,
who's Deborah Wilson or whatever because of like the voice
actor strikes and all that and so wh starty short,
They're like, with this upcoming update, I wasn't like one
hundred percent clear how it's working, but they got I'm
assuming that Deborah Wilson's voice is now were placed in that,
but they say they're happy to announce that with Dash

(01:15:37):
and Iron update the original English voice talent for I Kora,
so I guess just for English Orrin and Koma have returned.

Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
So you know, that's interesting for those of us who
were keeping.

Speaker 6 (01:15:48):
Track of that. One quick sad night on voice actors
and voice actresses. My first character I picked in Legal
Legends was voiced by marisolv. I didn't remember the actress.

Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
Oh really, I was like, fuck.

Speaker 6 (01:16:01):
If I got his skype this sh I'm like, is
that maral.

Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Oh Man interesting?

Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
But yeah, next week is a big week for you know,
another major update, and then I is the Raid epic
Raid thing. Uh, I forget if it's the end of
next week, I mean no, uh, that's actually not until
September twenty seventh. It looks like that's more in the
what Silent Hill f territory. I was thinking Borderlands Fords
around the corner now too, so they were right in

(01:16:31):
the middle of all this.

Speaker 3 (01:16:32):
But anyway, short story, star Wars Renegade stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:16:36):
I'm gonna call it Star Wars Renegades, but it's Destiny
to Renegades, the Star Wars stuff. I'm interested to see
what they show next week, so we'll keep an eye out.

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
Gover that Marvel Rivals interrupts, That's fine, No, I interrupted you.
We were still midjestin, but I could I could see
that Mylon was starting to get twitchy, and I was like,
we've ever move on soon.

Speaker 1 (01:16:59):
It was morphing.

Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
Yeah, So obviously that's kind of the space I hang
out in most of these days. That's where my content is.
But excited for the new season launches next Friday. A
ton of balance updates coming along with that to sort
of shake things up in the meta. But they're really
staying committed to this pace where they're like, we're bringing
new maps, new heroes, new game modes. There's always something

(01:17:26):
new every single month, and it's not small stuff like yeah,
they have free events, free skins and things like that
going on all the time as well, But they're really
staying committed to like making sure the game is constantly
moving forward with meaningful content as well that actually changes
how you interact with the game. So we get two

(01:17:46):
new heroes with season four with staggered launches. So next
Friday we get Angelo, which is this one winged as
Guardian Angel Warrior. So she's like giant, big beefy. She's
going to be a tank. She's our first flying tank
in the game. She has a spear so she can
like legitimately skewer people and see them like carrying them

(01:18:08):
across the map displacing. So displacement tanks aren't a big
part of the game right now. You have Thor, who's
able to you know the other as Guardian Tank. We
have who can kind of carry people with his hammer.
He can knox into them and carry them places, so
it'll be nice to have another tank like that. She
does have some built in team up abilities. It's a

(01:18:29):
big part of Marvel Rivals. If you're not familiar with
the game is obviously in Superhero comic books you've got
these team ups that happen every now and then, so
they do that in the game as a mechanic. It's
a really cool thing, and they're always a rotating door.
So Angela will have a team up with Thor where
Thor gets to basically she has her lore is kind

(01:18:50):
of interesting. As an as Guardian Angel figure, she has
like this golden icker for blood that she can then
transform into objects, so she can transform it into a
shield in the game to block damage. She can transform
it into a spear for your long reach a melee,
but she can also transform it into these battle axes
for brawling up close. The team up with Thor gives

(01:19:11):
him the ability to summon her spear and throw it
and then like launched to it, which is great because
he's a dive tank. He does a lot of big
brawler damage to squishy targets, so if you can if
you're fighting enemy tanks on the front line, is Thord
and you see a healer behind him, you get chucked
that spear back behind the enemy tanks and just leap
to it and suddenly be right there with the healers

(01:19:34):
and you know, beat him down. Kind of cool. So
we get that, we get new map, we get Daredevil
is going to be coming as a new dualist, new
DPS character halfway through the season as well, So give
us another another few weeks after Angela will get a
new we'll get a new.

Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
Dualist in the form of Yal Daredevil.

Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
Pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
I had a question for you, yeah about this last
week was Overwatch had kind of popped again for a
rare moment, had taken over at least in twitch numbers,
and I saw some chatter about folks not playing Marvel Rivals.

Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
And playing overwatching it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
I was like, do you happen to know if that
was like seasonal fatigue or there was something with Marvel
that was driving folks back towards Overwatcher.

Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
I think so with Marvel Rivals this past season, there
was a little bit of a frustrating meta that existed
that drove some people. Some people just kind of got
tired of it. But it's real, there was the focus
on characters in the game that we're kind of taking
over who are hard to hit. Right, They're fast, you know,

(01:20:40):
kind of glass cannons, but they're just really hard to damage.
It could be frustrating if you're like, I'm a casual player,
hop in here, I don't have the greatest aim I
just want to play as a healer, and that's who
their primary targets are are the healers, right, these big,
zippy characters that are just like really really fast, big
burst damage and get the heck out. Who are they
going to pick on. They're going to pick on the
heelers because healers can't really fight back too much. So

(01:21:02):
I think that created a little bit of frustration. Those
characters are being addressed, and you know, they released a
you know, like balance patch update news today, like a
blog post kind of detailing ways they're going to help
mitigate that next season. But quite honestly, I think a
part of it is that they know that people like
to play DPS characters, so they just keep giving us

(01:21:24):
more DPS characters. So right now, yeah, right now in
the game, there are more DPS characters than there are
tanks and healers combined. So I think they just need
to also with their hero release schedule. Luckily, our next
heer that's getting released, Angela, is a tank, but they
need to do more of that make people excited to

(01:21:45):
play the other roles, to kind of help shake things up,
because right now it's real DPS heavy. Nice, But I
think the Rivals is just like most games start up
here big, you know, chaotic launch with tons of people
playing and being really excited about it. It's a new
game in this genre. I love that tapers off over time,

(01:22:07):
but it also stabilizes and I'm not too worried about it.
It's still have a really healthy player base, even though
it is considerably lower than it was two seasons ago.

Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, I guess it'll really be like
next season, see what the impressions and the meta and
all that, how it's handled. If it's still pretty well
done based on what they've been doing, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
So as an Overwatch fan in general, I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Keep up with it these days, but I was, I mean,
I was happy to see right that the community still
is willing to go back to the game when I
feel like a lot of people move towards Rivals because
they were the narrative was like, I'm tired of Overwatch
and I didn't like Overwatch two's launch, Like I get that,
but Overwatch too is still incredibly polished and awesome in
so many ways.

Speaker 4 (01:22:48):
So yeah, that plays. There's a lot of overlap. I
think they're gonna you'll see people ping pong in and
you'll see these swings in the player bases.

Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (01:22:57):
Yeahs connected absolutely breeds innovation.

Speaker 6 (01:23:01):
Yep, I'm gonna I'm trying to think of like other
PIO sounds like they're putting out like content very quick
and consistently. I'm trying to think of other PvP games
that do it that well. I mean it's probably just Fortnite, right,
and then yeah, I don't know what Call Duty's like.
These days were putting out content, but you're saying like
new maps and characters, not just like battle pas stuff,

(01:23:23):
but right like game modes and maps and that.

Speaker 4 (01:23:26):
And they've got that too. Obviously the game's free to play,
so they're they're dropping skins every Thursday. One probably went
up what times it, thirty minutes ago one probably went
up with a new Penny skin, which looks really cool.
But I mean, yeah, there's constantly cosmetics you can buy
and stuff like that to subsidize the game, but it
is free to play and all that content, the new maps,

(01:23:47):
the new characters, everybody gets access to them, and I
think that's obviously a big pull. And the maps. I'm
excited because where we're headed now, we're coming out of
a season that is been it's been themed around fund
the planet Clintar, which, if you're familiar with the Marvel
universe or not, this is where the symbiotes come from.
You know, the Venom symbio, the things black go, That's

(01:24:10):
where all the symbiotes come from. It's dark and it's dismal.
So the new maps we've been getting kind of have
that same vibe. They're dark, they're dismal, and I'm excited
that where we're going next is a much brighter space
in the form of I think the next map is
supposed to be like this, sort of as Guardian Heaven theme,
so a very different palette. I think that'll be refreshing too.

Speaker 6 (01:24:35):
Nice Well, it's it's refreshing to have a piggyp game
launch and they've got a real tight pipeline for release.

Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
I forgot what it was like to constantly get new
PvP maps.

Speaker 6 (01:24:47):
I was like, you must be swim, Like, what is
this weird?

Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
I'm like, still trying to learn a new map. They're like, hey,
we got a new map coming out in three weeks.
I'm like, I'm still learning this one.

Speaker 6 (01:24:59):
Yeah. Yeah. I mean it's great for content too, right,
you know, it's what you.

Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
Chase, absolutely, And that's I got to say. On the
flip side of it, you know, as somebody who makes content,
that's also very refreshing because there's so many and gosh,
one of us is not a Destiny hater. I'm kidding.
My Destiny experience as a content creator got challenging when
the PvP tap closed, because then the burdens on you

(01:25:27):
to be creative. And that's not to say I was
still enjoying playing Destiny, so that's I'm not being Destiny
hater here. I was still loving the experience. The problem
was the problem that the players don't have. It's a
content creator issue. But when there's not new maps to
cover and new things like that that are specifically PvP dedicated,
you have to get creative with your content and come

(01:25:48):
up with all these new ideas for what video am
I gonna make today? I don't know. There's nothing new
in the game, so I've got to be the innovative
one here. It's nice to have some of that pressure
alleviated as a content creator for real problems, I know,
but I'm enjoying that side of covering rivals because there's
just new characters to make guides on. There's balances that
are happening constantly to their kits, and it's not like

(01:26:11):
small It's not like, oh, we changed their damaged by five.
I can make a whole video because the character updates.
They're dude, like one of the characters next week is
a character that's been the game since launch, but they're
completely changing this player's this character's ultimate and what it
does and how it interacts with your team.

Speaker 3 (01:26:28):
It's huge changes.

Speaker 1 (01:26:29):
So it's refreshing.

Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
Yeah, now, I think, I mean, you're right, there's a
content creator sub but also, I mean the community is
responding to all those changes in a similar way. Right,
We're meaning like, oh, wait, what are the changes, because
there's people who want to be in that No, I
mean it being an EVP game, so it refreshes everybody us.

Speaker 6 (01:26:55):
Why anything else, I.

Speaker 4 (01:26:58):
Mean, my tabletop games. There's the whole I don't know
if any any tabletop fans in Yere.

Speaker 1 (01:27:06):
I mean I was friends, Brier is not. I mean,
I'm war Crafted, not Warcraft Warhammer. Curious, right, yeah, we're
very curious.

Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
I have Yeah, we know that I really missed those days.

Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
Immediately be just close up on his figuring maybe related though.
I don't know what you're gonna say about tabletop stuff,
but Space Marines I think is getting it update.

Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
Did you see this?

Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
Oh yeah, new season stuff first place between That's right.
I didn't look into it.

Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
Yeah, I mean, unfortunately I'm not an expert, but I
quickly glancing over at maybe I can look it up.

Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
Why you you mentioned tabletop stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:27:43):
But yeah, I'm just gonna say it's been really fun. Like, honestly,
the last decade of tabletop has been so explosive at
people treating tabletop as a new medium for express and
creator activity, and kind of at the forefront of that

(01:28:03):
has been the most people are familiar, least familiar with
the critical role cast. But this is Matt Mercer. He
voices Fickrel in the Destiny franchise. But yeah, their whole cast.
They're launching their next campaign campaign for October second, I think.

(01:28:25):
But they've been doing a ton of promo work getting
it up and running, and they've did some stuff with
like Retin Link. This week they have a new DM,
so Matt Mercer is actually going to be letting go
of the rein, says the Dungeon Master for critical role.
If you watch animated shows, the Vaux Machina series, animated

(01:28:46):
series on Amazon Prime, this is them. That's their characters.
They're voicing their own characters that they made in a
Dungeons and Dragons campaign. They got turned into an animated series,
which is like every D and D player's dream, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Like that's cool.

Speaker 4 (01:29:01):
If Amazon reaches out to you, they're like, hey, you
came up with a cool world and you acted out
your characters and it was really compelling. Can we like,
do you want to reprise your roles in an animated
That's like freaking dream material right there. It's amazing. But anyways, nice,
they're living that dream. Uh, Matt Mercer taking hands off
the reins and Brendan Lee Mulligan is coming in as
the new DM, and he is insanely talented. He's like

(01:29:23):
one of my favorite dms in the entire genre. So
great storyteller actor turned DM. Yeah, very cool. Nice, Oh
that's what Fox is, Yes, that's what Fox is. Yep,
and we do get a new season of box making
to do. This's right, and then mighty nine is coming,
which is the other characters in a different campaign they ran. Yeah,

(01:29:45):
they're eating Good and us as if you're a D
and D fan, well tabletop in general. Yeah, oh, campaign
for by the way, super cool. They're going full Tolkien
because they've got a huge cast, so it's not just like, oh,
there's six of us going through a linear campaign. They're
doing it like think. So they were talking about like

(01:30:06):
it's like two Towers if you're a Lord of the
Rings fan, where it's like, these are all our favorite characters,
but they're all over Middle Earth, and they're all fighting
their own battles and having their own stories and their
own character growth and development, but they have crossroads and
they're all working towards a same shared world goal. So
huge cast, multiple campaigns running at once, so it's going

(01:30:26):
to be chaotic and fun.

Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
That sounds crazy to put together.

Speaker 3 (01:30:31):
Yeah, huge production thing, so yeah, maybe real fast.

Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
Your reaction to the space Marine two Year two content.
I guess they were saying that there's yeah, of course
some planned patches and free gameplay additions through the rest of.

Speaker 3 (01:30:46):
Twenty twenty five and then into twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
But what they're doing is they say four new operations
and a new Siege manse, three new eternal war arenas,
new stratagems for PVEE, and then hellbroot Onslaught would be
a PvP game mode, a new playable class, the Tech Marine,

(01:31:09):
and that's.

Speaker 4 (01:31:10):
Been like highly requested. That's cool.

Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
Oh really yeah, and then like you know, new progression,
new enemies and bosses. So they say the second year
of content kicks off, yeah, in September fourth, So that
just kicked out today.

Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
I guess that was its big anniversary update as well.

Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
I guess that's awesome. Yeah, when I get free time,
that mythical thing that people talk about, I've never seen
it free time, but I.

Speaker 1 (01:31:33):
Hear it's a real thing.

Speaker 4 (01:31:34):
When that happens, I do want to go back and
play more Space Marine and scene. Like you know, the
Hord mode is a big thing. New playable classes, new operations.
I played those operations until my eyeballs bled. I loved
Space Marine two on launch. I was so hooked.

Speaker 1 (01:31:51):
Yeah, it was great.

Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
That's what I do forget.

Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
Yeah, like how much time it takes to just play
rivals and master things and then do content it.

Speaker 3 (01:32:00):
I'm always asking you.

Speaker 2 (01:32:01):
About Space Breeds in the same like, yeah, maybe he
had some free time.

Speaker 3 (01:32:05):
It's like, I guess it has.

Speaker 2 (01:32:06):
Been a while now, but I know that you always
appreciated it, and I was really happy.

Speaker 4 (01:32:10):
I thought that came was phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
Yeah, I was always like, I guess I bring it
up so much.

Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
It's a good example, Like I don't play it at all,
but when I did, I just enjoyed the way they
you know, compartmentalized, like a great campaign that I could
play and enjoy. Yeah, kind of an OG style, just
awesome looking, awesome sounding.

Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
Then the operation stuff was really nice.

Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
I didn't have the time, but I played a little bit,
and then I saw how much community loved it, So
I guess I'm always keeping an eye on it.

Speaker 1 (01:32:37):
I can't remember what platform I was playing on that
on was a PC, might have been PC. I'm gonna
have to figure that out. I'm with you. I want
to get it back into that that's a fun game.

Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, it's nice to see they've just
really kept at it. They even announced to I think
we talked about it. I forget the exacts, but it
was like, you know, the sequel is coming, and yeah, they're.

Speaker 3 (01:32:56):
Just really quickly. Yeah, they were really keeping this community
and they.

Speaker 4 (01:33:02):
Were like, but don't worry. That doesn't mean we're stopping
development with Spacebreed too. We told you guys, forget committed
to this game, and we are. Yeah, it's just for
getting refreshing too.

Speaker 1 (01:33:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (01:33:14):
I wonder whatever happened there was a Warhammer series that
was being it was I don't know if it was
under development or if it was just being tossed around
with the guy who played Superman.

Speaker 4 (01:33:25):
Oh, Henry Cavill.

Speaker 1 (01:33:26):
Yeah, I don't know if that ever.

Speaker 4 (01:33:29):
They hit some hiccups, but I think they're moving forward
with it. Last I saw, I think there's some creative
clashing going on, but they must have come to some
agreement started moving forward again.

Speaker 1 (01:33:42):
Good. Last I heard.

Speaker 4 (01:33:45):
I could be wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
I did want to mention super Fast maybe Metal Eden
if that's all right?

Speaker 1 (01:33:53):
Yeah, what's up? Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:33:55):
Medaling is that game I had brought up quite a
bit there was that demo this bring if you remember,
but it's very like cyber punky looking.

Speaker 3 (01:34:04):
Some people were even like, oh, it kind of looks
like Marathon because of some of the like text funds.

Speaker 6 (01:34:09):
This game is a sci.

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
P punky kind of look, but it's more like future vibrant,
almost a Kira at times. And but it is like
very like a Doom Eternal Slash, one of those like
run fast and forward and you're gonna have to melee
in for health, get upgrades, you know, and all that.
So in short, I've played only a little unfortunately, another

(01:34:33):
game that despite my very good PC setup and I
know other people had some trouble, Like it's definitely some
performance issues that I've been kind of grappling with. So
that's a bummer. But yeah, i'm console, maybe it's a
bit better.

Speaker 1 (01:34:48):
I get the joke.

Speaker 3 (01:34:50):
I'm console, maybe it's a little bit better.

Speaker 2 (01:34:52):
But look into it as my point and then take
the feedback, which is the game seems cool if you're
down for this type of game. When it's worked right
for me and I've got my settings going, it's been nice.

Speaker 1 (01:35:05):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:35:05):
It's just fast and really cool looking, and there's more
like powers and upgrades that you might think from looking
at it, But yeah, the basic format of the game
is like run.

Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
Forward, you're gonna wall.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
Run some you're gonna get a hover ability eventually, and
you're gonna get even more powers. You'll get on rails sometimes,
but it does. A core thing that happens is you
get in a room full of enemies before you can
kind of progress sometimes to you know, slow down that
need for like developing these huge levels, so you kind
of be wall running in circular paths as you try

(01:35:39):
to like take out waves of enemies. And it's definitely
more that type of game where it's about like what
is your build and can you get better at this?

Speaker 3 (01:35:47):
I was playing on hard mode, so that could be.

Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
It could be pretty rough at times because again you
got to like really be careful not to let your
health drop. You gotta keep meleeing folks, and it's this
very like rhythm of those shooters, you know how it goes.
I mean Doom, the Latest Doom was even a bit
like that. You had to be cautious about getting your
health back and stuff. So yeah, I mean it's certainly

(01:36:09):
inspired from that style.

Speaker 6 (01:36:11):
You can play the Demi for free on steam, so
I recommend playing it.

Speaker 3 (01:36:15):
Yeah, it's good point.

Speaker 6 (01:36:15):
I gave it a shot, only gave it an hour,
and it really hadn't sunk in for me. I I
I kind of wanted it to be a rugue lot.
I've a lot of rug lights and it kind of
felt like it should have been one. I don't know,
so I need to say how it unfolds a little
bit more combat wise, and it's upgrade wise.

Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
I guess I like it because it's the opposite.

Speaker 2 (01:36:38):
And it's not that I don't like rogue lights, but
like as we talked about I think it was last week,
it's like everything's a rogue light, everything's a Metroidvani, and
like there's nothing wrong with that, but the market is
saturated and obviously I'm you know, showing my gamer age
here of like, uh, I like that. It is just
kind of more of that. It's not a boomer shooter,
but it's in that vein. It's doom style and just

(01:37:00):
focus on like an upgrade path and like.

Speaker 3 (01:37:04):
Good, yeah, like I think that's what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
It's like thank you and Chronos similarly, right, like thank
you for just keep it right there on the nose.
I like these types of games, and I know that
there they can be a bit of a harder sell.
But that's why I bring it up. This is more
of an indie game, So go check it out. If
you like shooters. It's the short of it, very stylish.
Double check maybe performance on consoles et cetera.

Speaker 1 (01:37:31):
PC. I don't know. On PC.

Speaker 3 (01:37:35):
It just feels very demanding, so I kind of wonder.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
I guess I'm snooty because the game looks so good,
so I keep trying to keep some of these settings.

Speaker 1 (01:37:43):
But you probably can back it off and it'll be fine.
So but it's cool.

Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
There's there's way more upgrades than you'd think, Like there's
a morphball at one point, you get grenades, and there
are build components, Like you get a currency of dust,
is what it is. So hey, you get some dust
to use for an upgrade island. Does that sound good?

Speaker 1 (01:38:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:38:02):
You can choose a build, get more in your your
you're laying there, right, But jokes aside, you can use
dust to like choose like, oh, I want to get
like a.

Speaker 1 (01:38:13):
Ice frost.

Speaker 2 (01:38:16):
Explosion from my gun instead of oh, I'll use this
void style blast of So you can kind of choose
some builds, and it's definitely that type of game where
you want to go back and like regrind for dust
and stuff like that. So again, you know it's there
if you kind of dig that. But it seems pretty solid.
It's gotten you know, more in that seventy to eighty

(01:38:36):
style reviews, So it seems solid.

Speaker 6 (01:38:40):
Us.

Speaker 1 (01:38:45):
Did you just say Unreal Engine five game?

Speaker 3 (01:38:48):
I think it is.

Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:38:49):
I sure feels like a lot of stutter issues for me.

Speaker 5 (01:38:52):
And did you see that quote from Tim Sweeney No
Unreal Engine five. What do you say, basically like un
pushed off performance issues for Unreal Engine five onto developers?

Speaker 4 (01:39:05):
Oh fun?

Speaker 3 (01:39:08):
Any I don't know what he said.

Speaker 2 (01:39:09):
My first reaction is anybody who made an engine that
somebody then uses and has issues could say the exact
same thing, right, Yeah, Like they're gonna be like, well,
we told you be careful, don't overdo anything, and you're like,
look at games like they're very complex, hard to do
what you want to do in the time and money
you have.

Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
And so I'm not you know, a developer in that right,
but I just I think everybody is.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
It's not going to work for him came, Everyone's like
you had all these stuttering issues with on Reel four.

Speaker 3 (01:39:40):
It's here again, and it's very common with unreel.

Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
So like, how did we arrived this problem again? You know,
maybe he needed to design an engine where whatever it is.
Then that's what I'd say, Tim. I'd be like, Tim, so,
could out of curiosity, could you lock developers out of
whatever feature is causing this issue to keep them from
using it unless that they get a certification test from you? Like,

(01:40:05):
what what is it that they don't? You know that
they're they're just you know, they have full run of
the house, and they're like, you know what I mean,
they're not being responsible.

Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
I don't know what he said, though.

Speaker 5 (01:40:14):
He says performance issues are developers failure to optimize for
low end hardware early in the development cycle, leading to
a reliance on last minute fixes and making games perform
poorly on less powerful systems. But games aren't just performing
poorly on less powerful systems, they're also performing poorly on
very powerful systems.

Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
Yeah, exactly, Like Kronos and Metal Eaten both have issues.
What I'd say is like, I feel like this is
not just an unreal issue, like developers do do exactly
what he just said. Unfortunately, It's the gripe I always
have about Metroid Prime, right, like, how do we get
a sixty fps? You know both you know, Bespoke Experience

(01:40:56):
on GameCube in two thousand and two that ran at
sixty Yeah, had so home frame rate hitches, but not
like ridiculous constantly plagued by issues.

Speaker 3 (01:41:05):
How do we arrive.

Speaker 2 (01:41:05):
Twenty some years later and it's like we get a
game every at Star Wars Jedi, you know, I always
bring up like how bad that launch was? Like games
are just really complex and developers, you know, I think
they do get too ambitious, like too often.

Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
I mean, even look at Cyberpunk. It's amazing now, but
look what happened at launch.

Speaker 5 (01:41:26):
It was well, they want the game to look good
in a magazine, right, It's like, but that's not that
can't be the case anymore because everybody's looking to YouTube
to see a game, so you want to see it
running smooth.

Speaker 1 (01:41:39):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:41:40):
The first thing Milon noticed on that new James Bond
game was that it wasn't running smooth.

Speaker 3 (01:41:46):
Well well.

Speaker 2 (01:41:47):
Also, by the way, watch the trailer, the gameplay trailer,
not the gameplay demo, which Sony you know, forced them
to show on PlayStation five Pro.

Speaker 3 (01:41:54):
So it looked like it looks sharper and nicer on PC.

Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
I would assume it's PC dev environment for the there's
like a game pay trailer that's much nicer looking, not sponsible.

Speaker 4 (01:42:06):
He's bite the tongue.

Speaker 6 (01:42:07):
He was you would have watched the thing that's clearly
the bad pops.

Speaker 3 (01:42:15):
I'm just saying it might look nice on PC.

Speaker 2 (01:42:18):
You know, I don't know, but I'm just saying anyway, Yeah,
either way, it's a disappointment, and I know I've been
having this reaction all week. I'm like, how dude, Just
for those listening that aren't clear, I have a Intel
thirteen nine hundred K and forty ninety that has got
its own built in all in one cool Like it's

(01:42:41):
there's no reason that I shouldn't be able to just
boot up Chronos or metal ead in and not have
just like a just go on medium or high and
not have like stuttering or whatever, and like you totally
do so that that is the issue. Like Interestingly, I'm,
you know, not an expert on this, but Xbox was
talking about some stuff I think games calm about. It

(01:43:01):
is quite complex. It's the way I don't know exactly
how it works. But there's direct X eleven and now twelve,
and like the way direct x deals with this stuff,
and they were talking about putting stuff in the cloud
for like shader compilation and all this stuff that's way
over my head. And I caught a little bit this
on Digital Foundry, So thanks to those guys for trying
to explain it.

Speaker 1 (01:43:20):
But it is.

Speaker 3 (01:43:21):
It's a big issue in gaming.

Speaker 2 (01:43:23):
It's not just unreal but shader compilation and all these
issues is a big deal that Microsoft is actually trying
to figure out how to solve it, obviously getting ahead
of the fact they're going to have this new ecosystem
of like handhelds and consoles and PC that's everything's supposed
to just work and it never does, you know. It
is sort of the point of all this. So I

(01:43:45):
think that'll play into it too. But I think we're
many years away from stutter not being a problem, despite
what Tim CD. Tim Sweeney says.

Speaker 4 (01:43:54):
And CD was that a slip that was.

Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
Like bumgy, I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:43:59):
If you're here, did you hear about bumgee yet Briar's
typo go check out episode four thirty seven.

Speaker 3 (01:44:05):
He didn't on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (01:44:09):
Anyway, anything anything else I want to get in.

Speaker 6 (01:44:18):
No go place your Moobi.

Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
I will tease next week hopefully WATTS is on.

Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
But I beat elder Ring DLC and I think we
suld oh you did the WATTS is on as well,
but I have a lot. Yeah, Like I think even
last week, I was about to be done and we said.

Speaker 3 (01:44:32):
Oh, I can't wait to talk about it.

Speaker 2 (01:44:34):
Yeah, but I would like to wait until WATS is here.
So teaser for next week.

Speaker 1 (01:44:37):
Can I ask a couple of questions just because I'm curious?

Speaker 5 (01:44:41):
Love?

Speaker 3 (01:44:42):
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 1 (01:44:42):
Now I can't How many hours did it take? Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:44:46):
Actually, I know it was about fifty five or something else,
fifty five.

Speaker 1 (01:44:49):
Do you remember how many hours you put into the
main game?

Speaker 6 (01:44:53):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:44:53):
Yeah, like four hundred and fifty maybe more. Wow, Yeah
a lot. I played a lot elden Ring.

Speaker 2 (01:45:02):
So I mean on that front, like I got addicted
to exploring. I mean it was still like a little
more in the thick of the pandemic many gaming hours,
but it really captured me exploring and then I just
kind of had to get every item. But I just
kept finding stuff on the map where I was like,
oh my god, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:45:21):
That was this was here.

Speaker 1 (01:45:23):
That was incredible. Yeah, that was my favorite part about
elder Ring. Honestly.

Speaker 5 (01:45:27):
Yeah, I've never seen an open world that does it
better than Ellen Ring.

Speaker 1 (01:45:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:45:33):
Well yeah, the DEALC didn't quite deliver in the same way,
so I'll say that, but I did. Look, I liked
Eldering Dalc. I think I said that previous weeks. The
bosses are incredible. The art is incredible, the music is incredible.
But the way they designed that map my experience exploring
and the end of it as well, which we'll talk about, interesting,

(01:45:56):
as I put it, for a billion dollar franchise.

Speaker 3 (01:45:58):
Interesting to see how it turned out.

Speaker 5 (01:46:00):
Yeah, I can't wait to really get except about that.
I'm looking forward to that conversation. Yeah, I might have
to play a little bit of it just to refresh
my memory because it's now been like a year since
that came out.

Speaker 1 (01:46:12):
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (01:46:13):
Yeah, yeah, it has, it has you know. I really
let that one marinate. That's a fine wine.

Speaker 5 (01:46:21):
All right, guys, I think we should wrap this one up.
But you got anything else we want to say.

Speaker 1 (01:46:25):
Before we go? All right, Thanks for joining us. We'll
see you next week. Have a great weekend. Stay safe
out there.

Speaker 6 (01:46:36):
Bye bye bye bye
