Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to episode ninety two of the Retrost Podcast,
a podcast about old stuff. I got a whole list.
I got a whole list of old stuff. We're gonna
be talking about the nineteen eighty four Honda Civic tonight,
also trapper keepers and what else we got. Yes, all right, Jay,
(00:32):
it's been I was looking. I think it was July
almost last episode. Yeah, we look. It's hard to do
a podcast with two people, because, yeah, if one of
us can't do it, nobody can. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
It was kind of back and forth, to be honest.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah. Yeah, Well we're here now and we're gonna make
it fucking count. What do you think about that?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
There may be screaming children that come in at some point,
so just beware.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Oh did they get out of their chains again? Jesus
got double? That was it. That's the whole that's the
whole podcast. See next time. Oh man.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, lots of life and lots of kids stuff, summer stuff,
like whole summer, right, like July first? What was happening
July first?
Speaker 1 (01:27):
I'm trying to remember. Had the switch to come out? Yeah?
I don't think I think we're still looking switched. Yeah,
switch to that's right, what else? I mean a summer
fullest stuff, like summer family wise. Is it like your
busiest time, It's my busiest time.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, I mean we we went on a bunch of
trips and I can't remember if last time I said this,
but my wife decided, without discussing it, basically that this
last year was going to be our big because we
both turned forty and it is our fifteenth year wedding
out of our three and stuff. So she's like, yeah,
this is there a big like trip here, and so
we booked a bunch of trips and now we have
(02:06):
to figure out that financially repercussions we're currently doing. Yeah, Yeah,
it's been busy, but good. Got another trip coming up
in November to Mexico, so.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Great. I did a bunch of camping. I actually actually
had surgery, which was, you know, fun but the acid
plant looks great. What else do Yeah? I got a
new knee. Everybody's getting those right now and the hot thing.
(02:43):
I actually so, I really did get surgery and it
was it was really minor surgery. It was no big deal,
but it did require me to basically, you know, just
chill for three weeks afterwards, which was like mega epic
video game time because I was doing nothing, was sitting
on the couch. Just I bought a PlayStation five Pro
(03:04):
and the switch to was not available around me anywhere.
So I ordered one off of eBay, which I I
hate to do, but you know, I gotta. I had,
you know, I knew I was gonna be sitting on
a couch for two weeks straight, like like I'm gonna
gonna play some video games, you know what I mean.
And so I only actually paid like fifty dollars over
retail for it anyway, which wasn't that bad.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
But yeah, no, the the scalpers really were like driving
down their own price.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
You know.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
It was like race to the bottom kind of situation. Yeah,
because once once people realize that the only game to
play is Mario Kart World, it's like, oh.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Yeah, yeah, have you been playing the switch? The switch too?
I mean, we I've played I've played Mario Kart World
for all of an hour, and uh yeah, we played.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
We've played some Donkey Kong. That's probably what we've played
the most of as a family. Yeah, Donkey Kong. But
like you know, we we have two other switches, and
there's not a whole lot of like killer software out
yet yeah, switch too, So it's you know, plus we
don't I mean, I personally don't have a ton of
time to play video games right now. I've been the
(04:13):
most I've played anything in the last few months is
Borderland's four, but I've only put in like maybe twenty
hours total in that, So.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, the switch to for me. I mean, you know,
I had to play Mario World Mario Kart World when
it came out, and I'm not the biggest Mario Kart person. Like,
it's just not like I like racing games, but I
prefer like the grand tarismos and the forces of the world, like.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Mario Kart's better like locally anyways, people in the same
room kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
But I did. I did enjoy it on on the
like I'm sitting on the couch not really watching a
TV a TV show kind of play, you know, that
kind of play where you're you're like you're with the family,
everybody's kind of watching a TV show. You don't want
to just like walk away and go play like a
like do something else. You just kind of you want
to be in the room, so you just like play
(05:09):
something on like a portable system silently, like you turn
the volume all the way down. You're just in denial. Rier, Well,
I'm just spending time with my family. I'm just not
like I don't I don't care to watch sex in
the city, you know what I mean, Like it's just
not interesting, But I don't. That doesn't mean I don't
want to spend time with my wife. Does that make sense? Sure? Sure?
So I actually play a lot of like a lot
(05:30):
of my my portable gaming time. That's probably the majority
of my gaming. My portable gaming time is exactly doing that.
It's like I don't want to leave, Like I want
to be here physically with you, but I don't want
to like partake in this terrible TV show. You're a
better human than I. I.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
I escape to my office pretty much any opportunity I
get not I mean, like mainly, like I get over stimulated.
And when I get over tomulated, I kind of like
I get like a little testy. So I'll take like
ten ten minute breaks, as you know, when I need them,
and then I'll go back down and I got to
like make dinner and you know all that stuff, get
(06:11):
them ready for bed, and you know, all that kind
of thing if there's like concentrated it for like, oh,
let's go do let's do this activity. Let's put together
the lego game boy. Right, that's what my son and
I are currently working on, and like we'll sit down
and like work on it together.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
But otherwise, yeah, yeah, I'm better and exactly what you're saying,
like that's my I'm better at that activity like that
like single minded like focused activity, because any distraction can
basically you know, who knows where all at ijuana. Yeah, look,
(06:48):
I needed a goddamn light bulb. Have you ever seen
that Malcolm in the Middle sketch with where is the
father's name? How I think that sounds right? Yeah? Okay,
so I just I picture the wife yelling. Yeah. The
wife basically like asks him, hey, can you, like can
(07:09):
you change the light bulb in the kitchen. So he
goes to like the light bulb drawer, but the light
bulb drawer is like squeaking, so he goes out to
the garage to get some you know, oil to fix
the squeaking, and then like something in the garage is broken.
So it's like it's just curious. Yeah yeah, and like
by the end of it, he's like pulling a carburetor
(07:30):
off of his car, and his wife walks into the garage, like,
what the fuck? I told you to change the light
bulb in the kitchen. He's like, can't you say that?
I am?
Speaker 2 (07:42):
I need to watch the Malcolm Middle reboot? Is it
out yet?
Speaker 1 (07:46):
I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
They were doing like a like a mini series reboot.
I watched an interview of Uh. I can't even remember
the actor that might no, the actor that played Malcolm.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Yeah, I don't know his name.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
It was really interesting, like his life is super interesting.
He's like a race car driver now and sick. Yeah,
and he's doing NASCAR now. He was doing F one
for a while. Now he's doing NASCAR and he's talking
about all that stuff and that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Wow, what a what a hero? How how fortunate to
have grown up rich? Yeah? Yeah, a little bit. Uh Yeah,
I thought that show was fun. I wasn't like a
huge fan, but I liked it anyhow. Back to the
switch too, Yeah, so I did. I was playing a
bunch of Mario Kart World because I was the only
(08:39):
game that was like that I had that was switched to.
There were other games that launched on it, but the
ones that was I was interested in, I'd harready played
on other platforms like Cyberpunk or you know, I can't
even remember the other games with one exception, street Fighter five.
I'm sorry. Street Fighter six did launch on the on
the switch to, which I do play on PC. I
(09:01):
actually own the PC version and the PlayStation six version
PlayStation five versions. Sorry, I'm getting my numbers bad one
numbers today. Yeah, but I picked up the switch to
version because I thought it'd be fun to have a
handheld version, and it is kind of fun, except, like
you know, there's no dpad on the switch to, which
(09:23):
makes the game extremely challenging to play. But I have
been getting kind of used to it, and I've kind
of like switched over to using the analog stick with
one of those like kind of analog stick kind of
covers you can see that, but smaller. Yeah, it's like
(09:43):
just like an a kind of like a thing on
top of the analog stick to make it a little
bit bigger. And then I got grips to make it
a little more comfortable. And now, like I think my
primary way of playing street Fighter six, oddly enough, is
on the switch which is a super big disadvantage, but
I still have fun playing it because I'm not good.
I mean, I'm a little bit better if I'm using
Arcade Stick on PC, but I'm still not good. So
(10:05):
what's it really matter? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Got to beat up on those twelve year olds playing
the Switch at home?
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Hey, I actually I I cannot match making on Switch,
Like there's no player base on the Switch, like I
have to match make all So I'm playing like basically
people on PC all the time. Oh man, yeah, because
it's not like if you put it to Switch only,
I just like sit there and I get nothing interesting.
(10:36):
And then Silk Song came out, so I've been playing
a little bit of Silk Song. But I think I'm
dropping that game. I think I've already dropped that game.
I haven't played it in probably a week and a half,
and I'm just kind of liked you beat it or no. No.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I've heard I've heard, I mean not mixed things. I've
heard people enjoying that game that like those kind of games.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Yeah, but a.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Lot of people that I would expect to like those
games are like, yeah, I didn't really enjoy.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
The like of that game. Yeah, yeah, I said on
the other podcast that I didn't actually find it that hard,
but I did find it punishing, meaning that like, like
the bosses are Dark Soul's bosses, where yeah, it's gonna
take you know, somewhere between five and fifteen attempts to
beat it. But in like you know, man Dark Soul's games,
(11:22):
there's not a three minute runback between your save point
and the boss, you know what I mean. It's like
they've just kind of you have to do the whole
level again or no, but like a significant portion of it. Ah.
I was really disappointed that Shanobi Art of Rage I
(11:43):
think it's called it's the subtitle, did not get a
Switch to You version. It got a switch version, but
it just doesn't look that good compared to like the
uh the PlayStation five version which I played it on,
and that might be my favorite game of the year. Honestly,
that game is fantastic. I mean, you checked that. A
couple of games I haven't yet.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
No, I feel like a couple of games are getting
like switch releases but not switched to releases, which is
kind of weird.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Yea. Yeah, some developers have been complaining that the switch
to dev hardware is actually pretty difficult to get from Nintendo.
I don't know if there's a shortage of hardware or
if Nintendo is trying to be selective about like the
quality of their switch to library, But I don't know.
It just seems like you'd want, like Shanobi would be
a great switch to title at launch, you know, like
(12:30):
or in the launch window, which I would still consider this.
Who developed that? Uh, Sega? But it was the guys
who made the Streets of Rage like that Gage four Yeah,
lizard Cube maybe is that the name of them? But
I mean that Street storage game was fantastic. I'd say
(12:50):
this is even better. And then that new Ninja Gaiden
game came out earlier this summer too, which was very
good as well. But that switch version ran sixty fps,
where every other version ran it. I'm sorry, it ran
at thirty fps. Every other version ran at sixty And again,
no switch to you version. Man.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah, thirty frames for a twitchy game like that would
be pretty significantly.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
Think right, Yeah, I'll change bad. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
For some reason, I didn't even know that they had
released yet, like because we had talked about them and stuff.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah the good news, they're both awesome. Yeah, good to
hear Shenoby though, I think maybe one. I'm like it
could rank in like my top twenty games of all time,
like I like it. Oh wow. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Do either of them have physical versions?
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Yes, yes, they do.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Good.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
No, I'm gonna I'm literally gonna write down on a
sticky note if I can find my sticky notes right now.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
Shenobi and Ninja Guiden Aiden Guiden Ninja Guiden rage Bound, Yeah,
both of them. Though the Switch version is like the
inferior product, so kind of a bomber. But hopefully they'll
get a V six version six. Sorry, I'm reading V
(14:09):
six Sonoma's comments rage Bound. Hopefully I'm not doing good today.
Obviously well removed too, I'm three months removed.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
You have other podcasts, you have no excuse.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
That's what I did to V six V six and
the chat says I have pre order Schnobi on Switch
and then bought a p S five copy to play.
That's exactly what I did. I hope there's a Switch
to you version uh coming in the future, because I
think that'd be I mean, the switch to is an
awesome platform, like the screen is a much bigger, like
I just like to switch to organomically better than the
(14:47):
switch one.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yeah, I bought a I bought a temper glass screen
protector for it, like the day after and.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
I haven't put it on yet. Oh wow, I did.
I've been doing at t time. The temper glass protector
I usually buy like as I'm buying the console, so
I can like peel the protective plastic off and immediately
like I never there's never a specket dust to ever, Yeah,
to ever get betweet there, which is weird because I'd
(15:13):
never do it for my phone. Do you do it
for your phones? Do you put the not anymore? Yeah?
I don't do it either. I do it.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
I mean so I was an Android guy forever and
since the last iteration, we're now iPhone. But iPhone actually
is doing a better job of protecting their screens, like
without a screen protector, like you know before it used
to use to flick it wrong and it would just shatter.
Now they have like the gorilla glass and stuff.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Well, my wife has. She there was a she had
her phone on the counter and the glass just went.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
It was an empty glass and it just hit like
the corner. She always had iPhones.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
I didn't, and she hit like when when it used
to have the circle button, Oh right, like hit right
on that spot and the whole thing just spiderwebs. Great,
but no, these are like gorilla glass now, so they're
much more sturdy and they're like water resistant and all
that stuff, which they were not before. So I don't
and screen protectors now kind of changes the it it
(16:17):
significantly and changes how it feels and how responsiveness the
screen is and stuff, so I kind of like it
without it now.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
I just got a new phone because they basically sent
me like a coupon to trade in my old one
and I get like a free new one. And I
went to the Apple store to like do the swap,
and they transfer all your data over there, and like
they tell you, like make sure you sign into everything
that's important to you know, before we erase your old phone.
(16:45):
So I signed into my you know, Gmail and everything,
and I'm like, and it says, okay, go to YouTube
to authenticate your new you know, Google sign in. So
I do that on my old phone. I'm like, all right,
it looks like everything things working. So we erased my
old phone and then I try and log into YouTube.
I'm like, oh shit, I can't log into YouTube because
(17:08):
the old phone was my authentication device. So I had
like about an hour and a half panic time a loop, yeah,
before I got home and like was able to like
log into a real ass computer and like make this
like this happened, but oh my YouTube, Like, yeah, I
guess I don't. I guess I'm not in YouTuber anymore.
(17:35):
The tech guy couldn't figure out the tech No, you know,
it's just just dumb, just dumb. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
I mean that's kind of how we got new phones
last year as well. It was one of those like
we'll give you a thousand dollars trade in and if
you send in your like all right, yeah, sure, problem.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
I feel like they must do that like every three
years or something like to make sure they catch the
people who have like three or four year old phones.
You know. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
The stipulation was that you had to have a specific plan,
and we we didn't have that plan, so we did
have to upgrade to a new plan, which was slightly
more expensive. But I did the math and it was
like it took six and a half years for that
to equal out for the free phones. So I was like,
all right, that's fine, it is.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
What it is. Yeah, it's expensive. I'm very much trying
to push my adult children into getting their own cell
phone plans very much.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Motion Like, once you have three on your plan, pretty
much everything after that is like next to nothing.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
It's like ten yeah, like fifty bucks per person.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Man, Like on T Mobile it's like ten extra bucks
really for four five versus three I think. I mean,
last I looked, I was like dank because they have
all these promotions, you know. Yeah, and there's always like
at a line promotions. If you add a line, you
get a free phone. If you out a line, you
get a free phone. If you at a line, you
get a free phone.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
I mean, my Apple Watch costs like thirteen dollars a month.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Yeah, our son, our son doesn't have a phone, but
he's got an Apple Watch.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Yeah, so that run them independently on the phone. Now,
if that option was available when my kids were like
of age, that's definitely the direction I would have gone,
because I think is a huge mistake.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Yeah, he can't take it to school anymore. There's a
law now as of this year, an orient watch you
can't take smartphones or smart watches like into class at all,
which objectively, I'm all for you know, like learning has
been better, apparently, like reports from teachers has been better,
focus has been better, grades have been better. But because
(19:45):
our son has ADHD autism. For him specifically, the watch
was like a comfort because he would use it for
like speech to text so that he could formulate his thoughts,
or he would use it to text us if he
was having a hard time.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
He would type out on his watch no, no, no
speech to text okay, so then he could like read
and write okay.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Or he would ask it questions like science questions. Well
that's like he likes to learn facts, you know, or
or like doing calculator stuff. It wasn't he wasn't like
he didn't he doesn't have like he hasn't got like
a couple of games on it, but he wouldn't do
that kind of stuff during class, which we could probably
get an exception, but he's been okay with it so far,
so we just left it.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
He did iron Man, Cassio iron Man, he did.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
He started with like a Cassio watch when he was
like five.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Yeah, he loved just having a watch. It was like
his favorite things. So, yeah, you got a new car
we did last week? Yes, let me guess. Let me guess.
I'm gonna say a portion of nine to eleven. Okay,
all right, I don't think further. So I don't think
(20:59):
it could be further for what we got. Let me
make another guess. Let we make by the guests a hybrid,
possibly a was it electric electric car? Yeah? No way,
you got a Tesla right, couldn't? Yeah? So who makes
an electric car that j would buy? Hmm, I don't
(21:22):
know who makes electric cars? Kia? Did you get a
Kiya that was in our top three? Okay? Honda was also,
Hondai was in our top three. I'm not gonna tell
you who it was. You're not no, okay, well I'll
tell you who it was.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
I was it was gonna Let you guess.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I think about top three.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
I mean there's like eight or eight to ten different manufacturers,
but the top three was the Kia EV six, the
Handai IUC five, and the Mustang mach E.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
That was our top three. Would you go on the website?
Speaker 2 (22:02):
No, we went with the Hyundai actually for you know,
we needed more space and we need like family like
a family car. And the things that the ionic does
that the other two don't is the back seats can
actually push forward, so you can have more trunk space. Yes,
so it's got that, And then there's some other features
that it had that like the other ones didn't. We
(22:22):
got the base trim basically with all all wheel drive,
but the Ionic is a little bit like roomier than
the EV six. The EV six is smaller and spoiterier,
like little tighter, sporty handling. The Ionic fives more of
like a sit up kind of like smooth, quiet ride. Yeah,
the Machi, the reason we didn't go with that is
because it's half speed charging, so even on like a
(22:45):
speed charger, it's like a forty minute to fifty minute
charge instead of like a twenty minute charge.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
I could see that decision.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
I could see it, but that was that was pretty significant.
And then actually the Ionic is faster than the Mustang,
Like they're like, we didn't get it for speed, but
electric it's fun to drive because it's like zero sixteen
electric cars fast seven like four point seven or something,
when the Machi was like like five point two or
something like that. So I did prefer the other two's
(23:15):
like cosmetic looks, but I can get used to that.
On we got it's it's white with like black trim
so it looks like a storm trooper.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
That's cool. I almost bought a electric truck, the Ford
Lightning that's very.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Electric by Yeah, electric technology is it's it's like at
a point now where it makes sense, like mileage wise,
for a long time, you can only get like, you know,
eighty miles for a charge or one hundred or whatever.
Now like ours gets two fifty to three hundred. Yeah,
that makes a lot more sense.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Yeah. I ended up getting a hybrid. I got a
nice electric, yeah, hybrid pickup truck, which is astonishing to
me that that exists.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Yeah, it's hybrid everything now really Yeah, I mean I
get like I took a drive from It was a
long drive, but it was all like back roads.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
I got thirty six miles a gallon out of a
fucking pickup truck, full size pickup check. It's like all
we spokes, Yes, this is the future.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
The breaking is regenerative of the EV battery and all
that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Yeah, how do you like like plugging it in instead
of going to a gas station.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Well, so I had to do so there's different. I
had to learn a lot because the batteries like eighty
four kilowatts right, or kill a killer something eighty four
something and the charging I think it's killawats and the
charging it can vary. The price of killowat hours can
(24:47):
vary based on time of day, like at home, time
of day, whether you're peak energy time or non peak,
and then on the weekends it's cheaper. And also all
the chargers are different as well, based on where you
go to the charger, Like it's it's like a gas station,
but it varies by a large percentage. Yeah, Like Tesla
(25:08):
superchargers are between thirty to sixty cents, So we equated
that to our Tesla or our Prius, like around thirty
five cents a kilowatt hour is roughly the same cost
of gas in our Prius. So anything more than that
would be more expensive than the gas.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Anything less would be less. At home on the weekends,
we get like nine cents a kilowatt hour charge, so
it's like a third or less of the case it
can you like come home, yeah, let's yeah, you can
tell it when and say okay, don't charge until peak hour.
Phone does that right? Is like if there's an option
(25:43):
that says charge when charge when, it's like going to
be like clean energy or whatever.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
I didn't even think about that on the phone, but yes,
you can do that. The thing is, though, we're not
going to install a type two or a Level two
charger yet. So a level one charger for us basically
charges one percent per hour.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Oh that's not good.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
It's really slow. But yeah, I think about you know,
one percent is like like four ish miles. Yeah, so
if you charge ten percent overnight, that's like forty miles.
And yeah, my wife's normal commute is not that much.
Her normal commute like five to ten miles, so like
(26:26):
over the weekend. Because you have to have it installed. Yeah,
so it's like, uh, it's probably gonna it would probably
be like one to two thousand something like that that much. Yeah, yeah,
because the unit itself is like five or six hundred
bucks and then you have to get it put into
the the thing. Our our utility company has like a
(26:48):
rebate for it, but it only covers up to fifty percent,
so it would still be you know, and Sonoma saying
Level two does work on like an electric RVE plug.
Technically it does, but there's issues there because those kind
of plugs aren't rated for continuous use.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
They're more for like.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
From your basement, because some people have issues plugging it
straight into like a dryer outlet and.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Possible issue could you have aside from your house burning job? Yeah,
you can.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
You can overload the circuit, especially if it's plugged in
the same one as like a dryer or something like that.
So they usually advise to create a separate.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
In the what do they call this the box the
panel like the breaker pai.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Yeah, like to have its own input for the car.
That's the safer route for sure. So you know, we
figured we just take it slow and see if we
actually need it or not, which so far in a
week we haven't.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
So well, I'll be interested to see how you like it,
because I was real tempted to buy, Like I just said,
I was real to tempted to buy the Lightning. Uh.
The main reason I didn't go with it was it
was an electric Ford. You know, you could understand how
that could be sketchy.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
The MS is a pretty good car though it is
it is.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Uh, it's first generation technology from Ford. So I was
just like, you know, it is early, it's like early
adopter stage still but not like yeah first yeah, and
you know, like I was able to kind of make
the like the mid step into hybrid. And my mother
who's had hybrids since like the first Prius, so she's
had them for like twenty years. Yeah. I was always
(28:33):
of the opinion like, why would you buy one of these?
You got two different motors that can break, so you're
gonna have twice the problems. But they've been the most
reliable cars I've ever seen. Yeah. Yeah, so I'm like,
you know that kind.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
Of less stress on the main one.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Yeah, so I figured i'd give it a shot too.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
There's there's like those heck issues that have happened, and
there's some batteries battery issues that have happened in firmware
issues and things like that.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
But I was a little battery so I actually asked
before where I bought the truck. It's only eighteen hundred
dollars to replace the battery in this truck.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Okay, nice, I will say. And I have a Maza
three hatchback as my as my car that I've.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Had since two thousand seven. And it's your drift car though, right,
you just drift that out the track.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
It does take corners pretty nice.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
It's it's.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
I will say that it is, yeah, And driving this
electric car has spoiled.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
My enjoyment of driving my car. Yeah, they're fast, and
I've never I me, I've never owned a new car.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
My wife has owned two, but she drives a lot
more like during for work and stuff than I do.
So and my car still has like sixty five thousand
miles on it's a two thousand and five.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
So wow, you really don't try that much.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
No, hope, hopeful, Well, like when we're driving family stuff,
I drive, but I'm hoping that my son in six
seven years will drive this and then I can get
a new car then. But it's it's a joy to drive.
Even the bass trim model, it doesn't have a few
of the like bells and whistles, but like what twice
as much. It doesn't have an automatic liftgate. It does
(30:10):
have heated seats, it.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Doesn't have cool seats, like, it doesn't have profiles for
the seat position, which is like whatever, a few things.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
It's it's it's like, you know, the our lease is
three hundred a month versus like it would be like
five to six hundred a month for the limited trim,
where like it's not worth the Yeah, double the price.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Yeah, that's a big, that's a big hop up.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Yeah, but there was like an EV credit that ends
today that we wanted to get in before. It was
one of those things too. It was like the Sunday
before I had heard that the credit was ending, and
I go to my wife, I'm like, should we think
about getting an EV soon because the Prius has like
one hundred and sixty five thousand miles on it, like
it's a thirteen year old car.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
And then by Wednesday we were driving off the lot.
That's how it goes though, right. It's like, yeah, make
up that once you make your mind up. It's pretty
easy to buy a car. It's not like a house,
you know, where it can take it years.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah, it's it's kind of a two year experiment with
the lease. We'll see how we like it.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
We can buy it at the end two years.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Yeah, oh wow, it's it was much better like it.
You know, it's more expensive for three years per month.
That's so weird, it is whether they do it. Yeah,
it was like three hundred a month for two years
or three seventy a month for three years.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Why on earth? Yeah. No, it was like, all right, well, this.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Will be a two year experiment and if we like
it at the end of it, we can consider buying
it right or leasing a new car or whatever.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
So it's really fun. Though.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
You want to talk about some news, Yeah, there's there's
a lot of news, and I there was literally fourteen
pages of news and I just like on time extension,
there was fourteen pages over the last three months.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
Yeah, and I was like, I was like, I'm gonna
just try to stick to the things that are most
interesting because there's just like there's so many retro games
getting remade. There's so many like news stories and things
of stuff coming out, and so I was just trying
to stick to the to the important stuff.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Taki Oudon has been in the news for a few
different things. He teased this.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Like NES hardware, they're they're speculating that it might be
a new FPGA ne e s.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, I'm taki Udon.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
But like all it shows, I guess it does kind
of show the front of an NES with the two
controller ports and the power switch.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
So, but the tweet says our hardware intern has been
working on a cool project that is almost done. So like,
you know, I don't know, but if he comes out
with like a one hundred dollars one hundred and fifty
dollars nes FPGA.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
I think that's pretty compelling. I mean, I prefer like
to be the look of an NES is more compelling
than the look of a PlayStation. And I find that
his PlayStation themed FPGA is very cool, like the features
he's putting into that, and there's another story we'll talk
about later that he's added to that. Like, I mean,
(33:07):
there's the best deal going an FPGA, right, so oh
key gone. So if they get an NES one, I
feel like somehow that would be more up my alley.
I already have a mister uh and uh analog pocket,
which basically is another you know, Functionally, it acts almost
(33:31):
exactly like a mister but you could play some handheld
cartridges on it. But I've got the dock for it
so you can hook it up to a TV and
functionally it is a mister. So I don't really need
another one of these things, which is the only reason
I haven't ordered that PlayStation one yet. But I am
weak willed and would pie ANYS themed equipment, yeah, even
though we have multiple at this point. Do you have
(33:54):
the analog NES Yeah, yeah, but it doesn't look anything
like any gas. No, it looks what it looks like.
It looks more like a Nintendo sixty four probably than
anything that's fair.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
He also was talking about the superstation one, which is
the place the FPGA PlayStation. Yeah, and he was saying
that it's going to be able to They added support
for Sega CD games and Saturn games and apparently PC
engine is coming next.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
That's what it said. I wonder how far he'll be
able to go with that? Can he do an ouns station?
If he's Saturn, he must be able to do PlayStation, right,
that's what the machine is. I understand it, But he
doesn't just specifically say the machine.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
The machine is made for the machine is made for PlayStation.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
They're adding, okay, I got you, Yeah, okay.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
But but I'm with you on the like how far
can he go? Because at that point, like why not
allow for like sixty four cores or other system cores?
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Like, well, the mister, I mean this is based on
the mister project. The mister does yeah, Nintendo sixty four,
So like I don't see why he couldn't.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
But there's no disc probably for yeah, that's where like, yeah,
like what other discs are there? I mean, like it
probably wouldn't be able to run game Cube.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
That seems that seems aggressive Dreamcast, it seems aggressive or
we or that's yeah, that seems like way out out reach.
But who knows. I mean, they said that N sixty
four was out of reach. Yeah, so we'll see it's true.
It is. I didn't know that they even had a
(35:39):
disc add on for this thing. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
He also teased the the like clear blue one as well.
That looks pretty slick.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yeah. Do we even know when these are coming out?
I don't know if I think they're they're not out yet.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Oh, they can be pre ordered for one hundred and
eighty bucks. The super Doc, which is required to run
physical disc costs about forty bucks, so.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
It's like two that's amazing pricing.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Yeah, well, you can currently order them on what retro
remake dot co uh Superstation Batch three for two hundred bucks. Oh,
the the batch one of the super Doc is sold
out currently. Okay, but there's a pre ordered deposit for
five bucks, so like, you know, two fifty ish for
(36:31):
like more than one disc system. Yeah, and there's not
like there's the only other disc system that exists that's
a FPGA is the.
Speaker 1 (36:41):
TurboDuo right at this point. Yeah, physical, well, no, because
you can well I don't even know if you could
buy it anymore. But the Mega CD, which was the
analog Stega Genesis, Okay, yeah, you could actually hook that
up to an actual Sega CD. That's so.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
But for like PlayStation Saturn.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yeah, for PlayStation Saturn nothing, yeah, nothing that I know. Oh,
doesn't the the one that we never thought was gonna
come out that? No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
If you care about that. Anyways, this I thought this
was cool. You know, it's retro, but it's not retro.
There there's so many games getting made, but this one
I felt like it was topical. With Squid Game, Season three,
Season two, all that stuff. Somebody made a game Boy
game based on Squid Game where you basically like play
(37:44):
the story of the original like season one Squid Game,
and it's sixty four bits studio, And you wouldn't think
it looks very good, but I watched the little video.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
It looks amazing.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Yeah, the little mini games, they're like platforming. You gotta
like do Tug of War, which is like a like
a puzzle game type mechanic, and like the just it
looked fun and you can. It's a fully playable d
make you can play in the browser or on real hardware,
and you can.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
I think you can.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
I don't know if you purchase the box manual in
sheets or you just print them out or what you
can play on news grounds.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
It's called squid Game Boy.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Yeah, I'm downloading this now before it looks before you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Somebody says good, the comments say good, but hard as hell.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Okay, I mean you're playing for your life. Me and
the wife watch. Did you see the American reality TV
show based on Squid Game. No, it's not the Mister
Beast thing right, No, No, it was made by Netflix. Yeah,
(39:01):
it's it's a trip. It's it's I would say it's
worth watching, but it's it's a little disturbing, honestly. Obviously
they're not killing people because it's like a reality TV
show right in America, right, But man, they do not
they do not understand like the the the themes of
that show at all. They're just like, let's do a
(39:23):
reality show with the same like as close as we
can get to the same kind of activities as in
the as in the you know, the fictional show and
with the same rule set where you get eliminated if
you lose, and it's got the same kind of like
you know, people fucking each other behind their backs kind
(39:44):
of deal, but it does not like have the themes
and like the understanding of like the perils of late
stage capitalism and like, like the the heart of the
thing isn't there. It's just the show, you know. It's like,
if you're just one of the fucking rich assholes watching this,
you know what I mean, it's really fucked up. It's
(40:05):
kind of worth checking out just because of how messed
up it is. Yeah, it's weird. Yeah, I didn't know
about all.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
I would breat that down. You Are you into Alison
Borderland at all?
Speaker 1 (40:17):
No, I've I've run across that on is it Netflix?
I think that is.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
You should watch it. If you liked Squid Games, you
should watch Alison Borderland. The season three just came out.
I would say season three is not as.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Good as one and two, but it's still good.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
It's similar to Squid Game, where it's like, you know,
it's still entertaining, but not quite as good as the
first two.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
Is it Korean? It's Japanese Japanese.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
So yeah, it's similar in the way of you have
to play games for your life, okay, but the premise
is all different. The way that they get in the
games is all different. It's more it's less like based
on reality, but also there's touches of reality.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
I don't know, it's hard to explain.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
You really have to check it out, but I really
enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Speaking of cars, Speaking of probably electric cars, Atari is
bringing versions of some of their classic games to Volkswagon vehicles,
meaning you can like download the games on the A
lot of these new cars have big ass screens yea,
and so you can like download the game on the
big ass screen and then play with your phones as
(41:31):
a controller.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
I love that. I think that's the conceptually.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
Yes, I mean most of the new cars too, have
like eye detection, so the driver can get in trouble
if he's trying to play kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
Yeah, I don't think people should be playing video games
while they're driving. But now, if you have kids, you
know that you are you spent a lot of time
sitting your ass in your car and waiting, and it's
nice to have a little bit of entertainment and play
a little breakout or something, be just perfect.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
The only thing is, though it's kind of far away,
you think about like the kids being in the back
seat and having to like reach over, you know.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
I'm talking about the adults who are waiting. Like today,
my kid had a tennis appointment and I sat in
the car for almost two hours waiting because I don't
want to sit in the waiting room where like it's
ultimo bore. So, yeah, you're you're old enough, that's fair. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
I mean with an electric car, if you're sitting there
charging for twenty or thirty minutes, you know.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
It makes sense too. Yeah, there you go. I saw
triving by the Tesla. There's a Tesla charg station near
my house, and it was outside his car in the
parking lot with a VR head sat on. That's not safe, dude,
that's not a great idea. In the middle of the road. Yeah,
that is the road, but it's like a big parking lot.
(42:47):
But people are driving around the parking lot trying to
you know, park their Teslas to charge them extra points.
Yeah right, I laughed about that. I was trying to
I almost get got an accent because I was trying
to pull my phone out so I can take a
picture this idiot. Uh.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
You remember that story that a dude had bought a
bunch of undumped like prototype rom carts and stuff, and
then like the Video Game History Foundation was trying to
get them, but they ended up like going with a
private seller kind of thing. There's been all sorts of
drama in the last three months.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
Interesting four separate stories here.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
I don't have every single detail, Okay, So basically what
happened was this dude his home got raided by the
police and the police video police.
Speaker 1 (43:50):
The UK, and.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
So that was like the first story. It was like
rumor has it that he gets his house raided by
the police, right, And then the next story was, uh,
it was confirmed that his house got raided and Sega
was at the forefront of the raid.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Yeah, like Sega had set the cops. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
And then it comes out that like it was weird
and suspicious and the cops were like not doing it
the right way. And then they like there was a warrant,
but the warrant wasn't it wasn't all the best things
on the warrant, like it they didn't get the warrant
the right way or something, and then like.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
Sege set up either Sega sent the cops.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
Sega didn't sell the carts to the guy. Okay, So
the story is Sega commissioned a company that turned out
to be a charity company. They asked the company to
like move things from Sega to a different location, and
then at some point that third party sold those items
(45:03):
to this guy.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Which were like Nintendo like developer consoles, right, consoles and
carts and all sorts of stuff. Yeah, which Nintendo wants back.
That's why Sega is looking for these in the first place,
because Nintendo came called.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Legally, Nintendo still owns them.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
Right you you were leasing these, you don't own them.
You got to give them back. And Sega's like, uh,
what happened?
Speaker 2 (45:30):
And so this guy who legally purchased this stuff from
a third party, it's it's still kind of up in
the air, like the litigation and Sega's lawyers sent or
the at least the cops showed up to this guy's
house with a letter that asked the guy to relinquish
his rights to the stuff, which if he didn't have
(45:51):
the rights to begin with, he wouldn't need to sign
something like this, right, So He's like, I'm not gonna
sign this. I'm gonna take it to your lawyers and
we're gonna figure this out. Yeah, because basically he signs
that he gives up all rights to the stuff that
he had bought. So this is kind of an ongoing story,
and it's I may have gotten a couple of the
(46:12):
details kind of wrong in the order got it the
gist of it because I was like trying to read
all this stuff and like comprehend and soak in while
I was going through all those pages of news.
Speaker 1 (46:23):
But it was, yeah, this this is just this wild
story here. I mean, the gist of it is Sega
fucked up and sent cops after this guy. This guy
who legally bought this shit. I mean, I'm not sure
about this. A third company that like took the stuff
from the Sega offices that had been shut down and
(46:43):
then sold them like that legally.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
Yeah, they're alluding to the fact that the charity company
may have scammed Sega.
Speaker 1 (46:52):
Okay, the illusion is here, But I mean Sega should
have never like had a third party and like clearing
this place out. Sega was responsible for that stuff and
it needed to be sent back to Nintendo. So you know,
Sega up to some shady shit like they were back
in the eighties and nineties. So with no surprise there
Sega doing Sega shit. You know, Sega does winninten don't. Yeah, right,
(47:15):
on a different level. So yeah, that was a fun
feel for this guy though, because as a bad day
having the cops come knocking and he spent, like he's said,
it's set around ten grand on the stuff, is what
he spent.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Yeah, you know, it was just not a small amount,
but of course the stuff would be worth a lot
more if he pieced it all out. Mod Retro, which
I don't know if I had even heard of before,
but they're coming out with an FPGA N sixty four
clone that'll cost two hundred bucks for early adopters just
to find that.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
Palmer Lucky his name is associated with this as we like, Okay,
I'm not sure who that is. He's the guy who
used to be in charge of what is Facebook's VR
program called Oculus? Is that right?
Speaker 2 (48:06):
Oculus Meta?
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Yeah, Yeah, he used to like be a founder of
that company before it got bought by Facebook mm hmm,
and he got kicked out of that company. H And
he's been up to I don't know, a bunch of
kind of weird stuff. Mhm.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
So it says here too that Lucky and mod retro
ceo torn.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, sold I'm trying to slap it.
I'm trying to stop it. My bet Oh was that
I hit the video and it it was not muted
and it started playing. Oh oh oh oh, it's like
playing on the podcast. Got it.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
Yeah, they've said that they the company plans to release
an FPGA based Game Boy Advance console in the future,
but it looks like the N sixty four will be
next in line.
Speaker 1 (48:56):
So there's no date or anything.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
The question is, because we're gonna talk about this in
a minute, Well this's come out before the Analog's three D.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
I don't know, man, I mean, no big surprise from Analog, right,
everything gets delayed forever from Analog. Them in Limited run
are like, you know, like I swear to god, both
of those company companies are just like a scheme that
to invest money. You know, it's like they take your money,
(49:28):
they invest it for three years, and eventually a bank. Yeah,
they send you a product after they've collected interest off
of your money for three years.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
You know, what I mean now, just stick in the
high yield savings account. Imagine like a couple of million
dollars in the high savings account.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
For three years. Yeah, and then you do that every
couple of years. Motherfuckers. Yeah right, because it's every time
they do this. They This is how it goes, is they? They?
You know, you buy something, the release date is like
a reasonable time away, and they gets delayed and then
gets the and it gets delayed. I mean this has
now been delayed for how long? Like four or five times? Yeah,
(50:06):
a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Sorry, I was beeping as if I was swearing, and
I think I alerted prior He was like, what.
Speaker 1 (50:12):
Was that noise? I just assume something is messed up
by my my recording sys. I'm like, what have I done? Alert?
Alert Alert?
Speaker 2 (50:23):
Yeah, And actually this N sixty four is gonna be
using the N sixty four core from the mister.
Speaker 1 (50:28):
Oh that's smart, Well, I write another core. So yeah, yeah,
that makes a lot of sense.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
It just says that that it's been confirmed that they're
working directly with FPGA, ZUM SPASS or as SPAS, and
it's gonna use real cartridges. I would assume. So if
it's an FPGA console for two hundred bucks. I would
I would assume that it would be using cartridges. It'd
be weird to not, but mm hmm, could be wrong.
(50:57):
Speaking of not FPGA consoles, Hyperkins, Turbographics sixteen, Slash hyper
Engine real.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
Quick to go back to the last story. Yeah, if
you are running an N sixty four FPGA and you
can run the N sixty four mister Core like that's
your that's how you're doing it, like, then honestly, you
could probably run any of the mister Cores, So you
can run any like you can run a ne Es Genesis,
(51:27):
Super Nintendo anything. Because it's powerful enough for the N
sixty four, it's powerful enough for the rest of them too.
You think, you think right, And that's a pretty good
price for a mister one hundred ninety nine dollars just saying.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Okay, I'm mister that also plays on sixty four cards.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Yeah, Hyperkin's got a Turbographic sixteen clone for ninety nine dollars.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
Yep, not FPGA, but if you have, it'll be one
of the cheapest ways to play Turbographics sixteen or PC
Engine games.
Speaker 1 (51:57):
I will say that, Yeah, yeah, really, I look to
see reviews on these things before I get anywhere close
to them, because hyber Hein is pretty hit or miss
on quality. Sometimes it makes some cool stuff, sometimes they
make some stuff that not really that good.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
Apparently it was reviewed by like Metal Jesus Rocks and stuff,
and it has some pork compatibility with the PC Engine
library and frame rate issues.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Oh that's right. I do remember him reviewing this like
a long time ago. So did they delay it to
fix it?
Speaker 2 (52:29):
It did say that they have been working on fixing
some of the software.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
That's good Revins. So that's good, doesn't ye? Space Invaders
getting a movie finally? I mean, the story as Old
as Time finally gets the treatment it deserves. I wonder
who's gonna star as Yeah, it.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
Doesn't say who's starring in it, but it does say
it is being screen written by ben z Zove and
Evan Turner.
Speaker 1 (53:05):
So they worked on what they tell me Battleship, Battleship
the movie. Please tell me bout the movie? Which you
know is that? Where does it say that?
Speaker 2 (53:20):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (53:22):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (53:23):
They they worked on Netflix The Outlaws, as well as
Officer Exchange from Amazon, which I have not heard of
either of them. So oh, but the I guess the
Outlaw one has Adam Devine, Pierce Brosnan, and Ellen Barkin
in it, so it's not.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
Like you know, But the question here is what route
are they going to take?
Speaker 2 (53:48):
Are they going to take more of like a like
a biopic version, kind of like the Tetris biopic version,
like the Tetris movie, or are they going to be
doing more of like a what's that?
Speaker 1 (54:02):
Let's hope that you didn't like the Tetris movie. No
I did, But man, come on, what if they tried
to just make like a fucking straight up like a
sci fi space meters movie would be serious? What would
be like you know, I want, like as serious as
(54:22):
let's say, Battlefield Earth. What's the one movie with Tim Allen? Oh,
Galaxy Quest or yeah, Galaxy Quest?
Speaker 2 (54:34):
Or the other one with the ants, the giant ants.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (54:38):
I don't know, the one with the giant ants? Oh?
Yeah you do.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
It's the Space the super campy space movie that The
Hell Divers is based on. For some reason, I can't
think of the name. Hold on, oh are you talking?
Speaker 1 (54:52):
Uh? That's not Tim Allen in that. No, No, Starship Troopers.
Starship Troopers. It feels like a starship you're talking about
another Tim Allhen movie. I'm like Santa Claus, Santa Claus, No,
the Santa Claus two, the ants exactly.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
It'll be interesting. You know, this will probably be three four.
I feel like this will be a couple of years
down the line.
Speaker 1 (55:19):
But the Alexy Quest. By the way, wildly underrated movie.
Space uh, Spaceship Troopers, Starship Troopers. Sorry, wildly overrated movie.
Oh wow. Yeah, people love to be Starship Troopers apologists.
I'm sorry, that's a bad movie.
Speaker 2 (55:37):
But that's the like, you know, a lot, there's a
lot of movies that are fun or funny to watch
that aren't good movies. I could rattle off quite a few.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
I mean, like, look, I love Idiocracy, but I'm not
out there like trying to tell people it's a good movie.
You know what I'm saying, Like, there's great themes in Idiocracy,
but it's not a good movie. There's great themes in
Starship Troopers. Entertaining good movie, it's entertaining. There's part of
me like there's part of a horror movie at this point.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
But yeah, there's part of me that wants to go
back and watch a Dedocracy. But there's also a big
part of me that doesn't. Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (56:17):
Yeah, I recently watched it with my wife because I
referenced it so often, she watched it with me and
she's like, this is a bad movie. I'm like, I know,
I told you it was a bad movie, but has not. Yeah,
Dy Camacho is a lot like the current guy. Don't
you think Brondo? It's what plants need?
Speaker 2 (56:41):
Oh uh, Mega Man Spaceman. Do you remember the did
you ever watch the TV show?
Speaker 1 (56:49):
I didn't even know there was a Mega Man? You
talking about the Nintendo Power Hour where there was like
a Mega Man. No, there was like a whole ass
TV show. No, I never saw it.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
I had an animated series you did back in the day.
I don't know how many seasons or episodes. Let me
see how many episodes?
Speaker 1 (57:06):
Is it? Twenty seven episodes? Brier Wow US TV series.
You need to go back and watch that.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
It was it was early nineties, I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
Yeah, I bet, I don't know. Mid nineties.
Speaker 2 (57:23):
Yeah, they're they're coming out with a like a collector's
and now it was like a collection.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
Of Blu rays.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
Blue Ray It's fifty bucks on Amazon or forty bucks
on crunch roll. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (57:36):
Yeah, that's how they're doing Blu ray disc now because
it's purely like collector's market. Yeah, nobody cares about Blu
rays except for like the the you know, the ultra people,
Ultra into it people, you know, like the the audio
files of the Blu ray world are like willing to
pay unreasonable amounts of money which they have to charge
because they only make limited runs now of these things
(57:58):
because they're not like sold mass bark and they only
sell them for a little while, so everything goes out
of print and then goes up in price. So if
you get into fifty dollars, you're actually getting a bargain
because caculators later speculators get in now.
Speaker 2 (58:14):
I wonder if you'll be able to watch this digitally
at some point, Yeah, I don't know, because there's like
there's some bonus materials, TV commercials, anime, pitch pilot scans,
the original press Kid, and they should at least like.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
Have like a clip. Oh okay, yeah, they should have
like a clip. It wasn't like I don't remember it
being like the best show as a show, but I
mean it was mega Man in the nineties.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
Dude, it was like one of those iconic like the
original Super Mario Brothers animated show wasn't a great show,
but it was still iconic.
Speaker 1 (58:50):
You know what I'm talking about. I know what you're
talking about. Iconic is at a strong word? What? Maybe
that's just our age, Gat Briar.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
It could be being a being a ten year old,
being a being a five to ten year old watching
the Super Mario Brothers TV show was pretty.
Speaker 1 (59:08):
I appreciate Captain Lou Albano playing Mario. I thought that
was a genius piece of cast thing. I do like
the box art for this. I think that's pretty good.
M but I'm not willing to pay fifty dollars for
mega main cartoon. I can't remember if this show came
out like in Japan first and then it like was
(59:29):
brought over with dubs. Yeah, it says the American TV show,
US TV series and standard definition.
Speaker 2 (59:40):
Anyways, Have you ever played a Vectrex at this point?
Speaker 1 (59:47):
No? No, no, Well now there's your chance.
Speaker 2 (59:51):
They're coming out with a Vectrex Mini with an amo
ed an m D screen.
Speaker 1 (59:57):
That looks cool. It does.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
I am curious though, because the whole kind of point
of this console, at least now to play it is
with like the three D effect with the the CRT
and all that kind of stuff. Yeah, so it'll be
interesting to see. There's a little video here. It looks
pretty cool because it has the overlay on it and
then the AMO lead behind it makes it look kind
(01:00:22):
of three dimensional a little bit. Yeah, but this will
be one hundred and one hundred and seventy five bucks
and it's going to have a bunch of different games
on it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
I remember how many games it's said some it'll have it.
Does it have asteroids on it? I feel like that's
the game it needs to have.
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
Yeah, I think it's gonna have asteroids. I think it's
like ten games or something with the with the different
overlays and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
I have seen. I've never played one, but they're pretty
interesting because they use like a different kind of CRT
monitor that did like vector based graphics and then you
used overlays that it's stuck on the screen I think
with the static electricity of the RT to stick them on,
and that was like your playfield. It's gonna be old.
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
School twenty games on this.
Speaker 1 (01:01:22):
This It came out in like the late seventies, right,
was it? It wasn't even the eighties.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
Was it something like that either early eighties or late seventies.
But it like it's a pretty dope idea, but they
were pretty finicky.
Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
Yeah. I think they're one of those like things that
like collectors still collect, but they like kind of like
get passed around. You know. It's like you collect it,
you play it for a bit, and they're like, Okay,
I've had enough of this. It takes up a lot
of spaces in the TV, you know, like it's a yeah,
and then you it like makes its way around the
community kind of everybody gets their chance to play. The vector.
Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Came out in eighty two.
Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
Eighty two. That's later than I would have thought. Two
years two years before NYS came to the United States,
is that right?
Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Eighty four eight well, eighty five was the test market. Yeah,
eighty five, eighty six was test mark. Eight eighty seven
was like the national release. Ah, okay, I don't know.
I think that's cool. It's and I think it's smaller.
It's smaller so and it has a controller and all
(01:02:31):
that stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
You know, like if you are smart enough to tinker
with this thing, it would make a fun like thing
to have like on your shelf that also shows maybe
I don't know, like the weather and your YouTube subscriber
cow or something like that in the background. You know,
like it'd be a cool thing to have. I wonder
if you could put other like vertical shooters on it. Yeah,
(01:02:53):
it's a vertical screen. I mean, it's probably just a
regular old amold screen.
Speaker 2 (01:02:58):
Right with the overlay that kind of makes it look
three D.
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
Yeah, but I doubt it's got like an hdmi D
so you'd have to figure out a way to open
it up and kind of figure your how to get
a video signal into there. Yeah. I think that's above
my piggod Yeah me too. Pink Gorilla.
Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
Yeah, so I saw this on Twitter actually at the
beginning of the month, so it was just just like
or it was on Reddit and somebody had posted that
they got a very rare famicom game at pink Gorilla
Games and they got it for twelve bucks. It was
marked at eleven ninety nine, and they posted on Reddit,
(01:03:37):
like on the game collecting forum because I will like
check that out and stuff, and they were talking about
it and they didn't know exactly the value it's somewhere
in the like thousand dollars range, and people were surprised
that pink Gorilla like didn't catch it, and Cody from
pink Gorilla actually responded and were like, hey, glad to
see that you got a you found a good catch.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
That was my bad.
Speaker 2 (01:03:59):
I was the one that prices.
Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
Like.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
He didn't say it was anybody else's fault or anything
like that, so it was it was good to see
him kind of like give credit for finding a deal, right,
which also gave him some gave pink Gorilla some like
publicity here this stuff because he was kind of nice
about it. I don't know it, like I don't collect famicom,
but it's one of those things that even it's a
reminder that even like game stores make mistakes and you
(01:04:22):
can still find like deals a game stores and stuff
occasionally if you know what you're looking for. Yeah, Famicom collector, do.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
We know what the game is?
Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
I looked up the game. It shows it in on
the thing and it's just like the Japanese price. There's
a there's a way to look up Famicom games based
on the.
Speaker 1 (01:04:50):
Code on the left, and I had looked it up
and I already forgot, so hold on, it's nothing that
we I mean, it's all just Japanese characters, so I
can't really tell even if it's like a not a.
Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
Lot to go on here hdt Yeah, Famicom.
Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
I go micn.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
And yes by Hector, Yeah, super Famicom dot org. It's
like a it's a moon game, okay, so yeah, short
story one.
Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
Atari, I should put this back in the attorney thing.
Their game station Go is up for pre order for
one hundred and e bucks and this thing has over
two hundred games on it. I am so tempted to
buy this. It looks like a giant switch. Yeah, but
it's got a deep ad so technically and like little
(01:05:47):
knobs as and a little track ball roller. Yeah. I
love this thing. I love this thing honestly. I mean
it might suck when it comes out, but like, based
on pictures of somebody else playing, I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
Do you know like what the reviews of the My
Arcade Handhelm's have been.
Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
No, No, I don't either, and I you know, I
imagine it's based on whatever quality and reviews their hardware
has because it's basically what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
It's a my Arcade retro or my arcade machine with
a couple of exture inputs, so it's cool you can.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
It illuminates the buttons for the controls for each game,
so like the buttons light up, like if you only
need one button for the game. It likes nice. That's smart.
That's smart.
Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
It's like four to five hours of playtimes a seven
inch full color display.
Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
Yeah, Wi Fi built in. I'm very tempted to buy this.
How many peo look at device? It is?
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
The Only question I have is like, how many things
has a tard Atari released in the last few years?
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
Yeah, I hear you. Probably most of the games on
this are probably in that switch collection that came out
a couple of years ago, and I could probably just
play it on my switch. But I don't know. This
thing is neat. I guess I should save my money.
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
You know, I'm not the person to convince you not
to spend money with all the shit that I buy.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
Oh I today I heard this next story. I immediately thought,
I can't wait to talk about this on the podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
I was excited about it too, until I wasn't.
Speaker 1 (01:07:40):
Really, I'm surprised that you're not excited about this. I'll
tell you.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Why so the Virtual Boy is being added to the
Nintendo Classics and it's like the main subscription, the cheaper one, right.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
However, is it the cheaper one? I thought it was
more expensive on.
Speaker 2 (01:07:54):
I'm pretty sure. No, it's I'm pretty sure it's the
regular Nintendo Classics.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
Yeah, there's an out here.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Almost every game, plus a few extras are being added.
It's fourteen games. There's a few games from the North
American Library that are.
Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
Not Yep, sounds good. However, you have to have the
hardware accessory to play them. Yeah. Well they have two versions,
right they have They.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
Have a one hundred dollars plastic one that looks like
the original.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
Which I'm definitely going to buy if I can. I
assume that the big hang up here is going to
be it's immediately going to go out of stock, right
as soon as it goes up for order, it's immediately
going to go out up.
Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
You literally just throw your switch into this little thing
and close it and then you play it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
Yeah, I know. But it's so funny because they're re
releasing their least popular console of all time, Like they
literally were like ashamed of this console. The guy who
invented it also invented the game Boy, and they fired
him because this thing was such a piece of shit,
even though the game Boy had been I think whatever.
(01:08:59):
In Japan the same thing.
Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
They do have a cheaper cardboard variant for twenty five bucks.
My guess is there's some kind of like filter over
the eyewear or something that kind of is gonna help
with the three D. The reason that I'm frustrated is
because when I was originally when I originally heard about this.
For anybody who doesn't know, I have the full North
American Virtual Voice set in box, complete in box, the console,
all the games, everything, but I can't fucking play it
(01:09:26):
because I get a headache five minutes into playing it.
Speaker 5 (01:09:29):
Yeah, so I was sell those fucking things. I was
excited at the news because I was like, hopefully they
add it, or I can just play it in two
D and like experience the games.
Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
Yes, you all you have to do is put your
hand over the left side of the screen, because all
it's gonna do is put like a beer like it's
gonna like the same image on both sides of the screen.
Because it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
I don't, I don't know, because the three DS doesn't
do that in the three D yes also gives me
a headache.
Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
Yeah, but the three three ds had a three D screen.
This does not this headset. All it's gonna do is
have like a cardboard separator between your eyeballs and then
each eye. That's exactly what it is. Each eye is
just gonna be your left eye is gonna look at
the left side of the screen, your right eyes gonna
look at the right side of the screen. It's just
like a VR headset. It's just gonna simulate three D
that way. And if you want to play that game
(01:10:22):
in two D, just cover up one side of that
screen and you're looking at just one side of the image.
You'll be able to play in two D's gonna work.
Maybe somebody can figure out a way to do that.
But also the fact that you don't have to figure
out you just got to cover it up. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
I'm saying, like, I'm wondering if somebody you can figure
out how to like play it on like a TV
and like output. You know, I'm saying like I maybe
somebody will figure it out. I know you can emulate,
I get it, but I was excited to play it
natively legally, YadA YadA. But the fact that you have
to pay twenty five or one hundred bucks to play
these games even though you already have the subscription, I
(01:10:58):
think is a bullshit.
Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Personally. Let me ask you a question, because I'm guessing
that anybody will be to play this. You just cover
up what side the screen unless they put like some
kind of what is the Ambibo technologies that nfccy So
unless the cardboard has an NFC chip in it that
like tells the switch this thing is attached, then like
(01:11:23):
what's stopping anybody from using this software? And just literally
you just found like a piece of paper over one
side of the screen.
Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
Yeah maybe, I mean the fact that literally the Time
Extension article says that it's required to have the.
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Yeah, but how would the switch no if it if
if you have it or not unless it's got that
Ambibo it could have that Amibo technology.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
Or it plugs into the bottom port or something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
You know what I mean? How is cardboard plug it
into anything? You're got a US cardboard, USB cable cardboard.
Speaker 2 (01:11:59):
I'sn't put a little I mean it's twenty five bucks,
Like it's not going to be a twenty five dollars
piece of cardboard.
Speaker 1 (01:12:05):
It was like a hundred bucks and that was cardboard.
Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
Well, Labo included the game and all the things, and
there was multiple sets of cardboard.
Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
And YadA YadA. Yeah, so inexpensive, but fuck.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
Me, I'm gonna buy it anyways because it's a Virtual
Boy and I gotta have it. I probably won't even
open the damn thing.
Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
I mean that goes about saying, of course put it
on because the virtual Boy. Because I'm a dirty collector.
I don't even play my games I collecting. I don't
even collect as much as you do. And I'm like
immediately like, oh I gotta get that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
I mean, the only thing one to open and play
with and want to keep in box.
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Sorry, go ahead. The only way I'm not gonna get
this is if I just can't, like it just goes
out of stock. Like for a while, you couldn't get
these those official nes, these official nes. This isn't Yeah
you know what I'm talking about, though, Yeah, because they
would just immediately go out of stock constantly. It took
me years to get one.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
So there's like four games that it doesn't include. It
doesn't include off the top of my head because I
have the collections. So it doesn't include Baseball, it doesn't
include it doesn't include water World, which is an expensive game.
Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
I'm trying to go down the list classic.
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Yeah, water World is like one of it's like top
three rare game for virtual boy.
Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
Well, if it's if the game is a movie, that's
a real bummer.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
It does have Jack Bros. It has Mario Tennis.
Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
Do you think what else like? It doesn't have Festol.
Do you think they'd have to like reduce virtual license
for water World, like to re release that game? Is
that why it's not coming? Maybe? Well it doesn't like
do you think they'd have to read you the Adams
Family license? Gill, Sorry, it's not Fester's Bowling. What is
it called? I don't hold on it's called even when
(01:13:59):
that thing was fifty's a KB toy store, I was
like too expensive.
Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
Nestor's Funky Bowling. Nestor who created this? I don't even
have a I have a sealed version of this. I
don't have a CIB version. I've been wanting to like
sell it and get a CIB version. I don't even
know who developed this. It's just a Nintendo game. Nestor's
Funky Bowling.
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
They do have virtual Bowling, which is a which is
a like a hack. It's like a a.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
Rom like a rom HACKA not a rom hack. It's
just like a custom game virtual bowling that doesn't exist
in the North American library that's coming. Then there's a
couple of Japanese ones. Space Invader's game doesn't exist in US.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
I mean, the games to me are a lot less
interesting than the fact that they're rereleasing the hardware. I
think it's funny that they are re releasing the plastic
head set that you would like, you said, give people headaches,
but also you had to put on a table and
stick your faith in in a way that you immediately
look at it and said, that's not gonna be comfortable.
That's gonna suck.
Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
And also they're not releasing the original controller either. No,
so you got to use like a switch controller.
Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
Yeah, you use to switch the switch to joy cons.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
But I I I'm I.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
Just I think this is a hilarious thing that they're doing.
I like it. I'll be honest with you. It shows
I do. I do like inside of Nino that you
only get to see like sometimes and it makes you
happy when you see it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
It'll be interesting, though I don't really care because I'm
not doing anything with my collection of Virtual Boy stuff.
It'll be interesting to see what this does to the
third party the resale market of Virtual Boy hard like games,
you know what I'm saying. Because a Jack Bro's cart,
you'll be hard pressed to get it for less than
eight hundred bucks just the game. Right The only other
(01:15:52):
one that's kind of expensive that they're including is three
D Tetris, which is like a hundred bucks.
Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
Three yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
I mean they have the best games on here right Warderland,
Mario Tennis, Jack Bros, Mario Clash. Those are kind of
the best games for Virtual Boy.
Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
Mario Tennis was always the game that everybody said it
was pretty good though, like you know that things sucked,
but Warrio Tennis was pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Mario Tennis for Virtual Boy was pretty revolutionary because everybody
had it because it came with the console, so everybody
had that. I remember, I still remember I never owned
a Virtual Boy as a kid, but I remember somebody
who did, and I remember going over there and playing
Mario Tennis because that's like the only game he had.
He might have had Telerobox or two. But I remember
(01:16:42):
playing Mario Tennis and having that three D effect right
like it was.
Speaker 1 (01:16:48):
It was one of those memories. It's like a core memory,
core gaming members. We got seared in by the migraine headache.
Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
It's like a old plasma TV. I got burning between
that and like I remember where I was playing Super
Mario sixty four for the first time, and all these
games that you remember, like, yeah, I don't know. That's
kind of why I went after the virtual and having
a whole Virtual Boy collection is relatively inexpensive to have,
like the whole set too, so that's why I did that.
I didn't like plan out to have it. It was just
(01:17:22):
one of those situations. I was like, I have twelve
of the fourteen games just organically, you might as well
go after the last two.
Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
Yeah, might as well.
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
Yeah, so we'll just start with the story. So Commodore
sixty four in Spectrum have fragrances coming out like cologne
and but like the descriptions of the it just feels
(01:17:52):
to me like they developed these colones and they're they're
slapping the branding of these consoles on the clones. It's
like Citrus floral like musky whatever fruits things lavender vanilla
smells right.
Speaker 1 (01:18:06):
The spectral care france that almost sounds like a would
make it fun of people who are on the spectrum.
Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
My question more so than the actual like colognes that
are coming out. If you were to make an actual
scent that smells like the actual like Commodore. When you
think of Commodore, what a Commodore scent fragrance smell like?
Speaker 1 (01:18:31):
For me, it would smell like a basement, I think,
you know what I mean, dusky.
Speaker 2 (01:18:37):
Like you have an old cardboard game that you open,
it's got that dusty, almost mildewy smell.
Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
Yeah, there's maybe a little bit like of a Do
you remember how tape cassettes had like a smell to them,
Like there's a certain scent to a plastic smell. Yeah,
but it was different than regular plastic smell because it's
like the tape the tape stuff was actually like had
some kind of metallicating on it. I don't know what
that was. But my I had a tape drive on
(01:19:04):
mine to load games into it. Well a game I
had a packband cloone called snack Man. But yeah, that
about that's the that's the set that comes to mind.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
Actually, Sonoma, Like literally as I was typing up the story,
the thing that came to mind and Sonoma nailed it
is burnt electronics, like a like a circuit board.
Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
It's like kind of that.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Burning warm like you know, you you if you smell
an old Nintendo or something, you get that like burnt
smell because it's so many years of warmed up you know,
material circuit boards and circuits and all those things. It's funny,
like that's a very distinct smell for me. If you
(01:19:47):
take a GameCube and you smell through the fan on
the side too, like similar to the.
Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
Yeah or yeah, even if you like smell the top
of like any any electronic that has like an output,
like a fan output, Yeah, it has a distinct smell.
Yeah or yeah. They have the sets in the article.
So thells like powerful and sophisticated with a citrus floral
(01:20:13):
and a rich Petulli musk base.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
They're just throwing fucking words out there to look to describe.
Speaker 1 (01:20:19):
I could see the Petuli musk base though, like that
that says that says common floor to me. I mean
they nailed it. Also, Spectrum in a similar bold signature
of vibrant bergamot. Don't know what that is, woody warmth
and musky depth. I mean if your basement had wood paneling.
(01:20:40):
We're all over this. A lot of musk in these,
a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
It's a lot of like marketing words for you know, smells.
Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
Yeah, well, I mean that's what smells smell like? Is
these things? Yeah, I'm I'm not a I'm not a
cologne guy. I don't wear a colone. I do, but
only because the wife says it, just tells me it's
a it's a cologne appropriate night.
Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
Yes, dear, Yes, I get headaches from strong smells, so
I can't even go.
Speaker 1 (01:21:22):
Like when you walk into a department store, you get
to avoid that.
Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
I can't do like a bath and body works, dude.
I like I do like the smell, like I like
citrusy smells, like lighter smells like citrus or cinnamon, or
things that aren't as like deep seated perfume, you know, like,
I can't do the perfume smells. I can't do the
like musky axe body sprayed stuff like.
Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
My mother can't eat at places where the waitress is
wearing too much perfume. Yeah, it's just like I She'll say,
I'm sorry, I have to go, Like it's that serious.
I'm like, for real, like can we get to go
the cow I just wear.
Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
There's an old spice deodorant.
Speaker 1 (01:22:07):
It's an anti perspirant that I wear.
Speaker 2 (01:22:09):
And it's like when I get out of the shower
and I put that on, it's just enough to, like,
you know, uplift the scent of me, but not so
much that it's like jarring from ten feet away.
Speaker 1 (01:22:22):
Yeah, you know what I mean. That's how coolones should be.
It's like the axe body sprays in the world got
a little address it with like dousing everybody. Every thirteen
year old was running around with like a full dip
of axe body spray.
Speaker 2 (01:22:37):
Kids got way too much bio going on through puberty, just.
Speaker 1 (01:22:40):
Just sh Yeah. It was not yeah whatever. I'm not
going to get into the xbody spray discussion, but it
was a problem.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
But the amount of times, like going to cons and stuff,
the amount of times that I've gotten complimented on how
I smell, which is weird, like going in for a
hug or.
Speaker 1 (01:22:55):
I can spell you right now, three thousand miles apart,
like it's I just it's a memory. It's not like
I'm not saying that I can smell you now, just
remembering how pleasant your aroma is.
Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
Yeah, I'm very sensitive. Maybe it's the you know I got,
I got some autism in me.
Speaker 1 (01:23:15):
I'm sure it's you know, it's that so you can
get this spectrum. You gotta they gotta flavor just for you.
Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
You want to go to Chuck's Arcade.
Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
Hell yeah, I want to go to Chuck's Arcade. And
I just found out I read this article and there's
one right down the street from me, so for sure
there's one in I think it's a troumble Connecticut.
Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
I think it's I need you to send me some
like some texts or something of the experience.
Speaker 1 (01:23:51):
I actually have a buddy that I've been meeting to call.
I haven't talked to him. He used to be my
personal trainer, and I haven't called him in probably like
a year. And the last thing we did together, one
of the last things we did together was we went
to an adult arcade. So I'm like, we gotta call
them and say, hey, we gotta go check out the
adult Chuck e Cheese. Just say Chucks, you want to
go to Chuck. No, I'm never gonna call Mark Wahlberg
(01:24:13):
anything but marky Mark. And I'm never gonna call Chuck Chuck.
I'm gonna call him Chuck E Cheese. It's all all.
Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
Of these because so they're opening ten locations. I hope
this is more than just like a pilot program. But
they were bankrupt a few years ago and now they
have all this stuff going on. But it's mostly like
southern and Eastern US.
Speaker 1 (01:24:34):
All right, I'm right here, Trumble, Connecticut.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Florida, Connecticut, Oklahoma, New York, Georgia, Texas, New Hampshire, Kansas City.
There's nothing. There's one in California, apparently the west of
the Mississippi. That's it pretty much.
Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
In that where the All Valley Karate Tournament was at
the Braham Mall All Valley Karate Kid. Yeah. Each of
these locations will feature a different design, so you can
go to like different ones and see different stuff. They'll
all be fitted with non moving animatronic character statues such
(01:25:17):
as Chuck E Cheese. They don't even call him Chuck
in the article. They call him check E Cheese. Of course, Well,
this is a time extension reporting on the Yeah, thing.
So they're not moving animatronic characters. What is animatronic if
they're not.
Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
Moving, Well, they're like representation.
Speaker 1 (01:25:36):
So they're just like giant dolls or pictures. Like they're
saying that they're using imagery from like old school Chuck
E Cheese for the ambiance the kids moving animatronic character statue.
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
Hopefully it's the original one and not the bullshit cartoonized one.
Now have you seen the new Chuck E Cheese?
Speaker 1 (01:25:58):
No, sir, he's.
Speaker 2 (01:25:59):
All scant and like gaudy, like super skinny.
Speaker 1 (01:26:04):
Okay is not the right word for that. Scant. I
don't know you. I'm googling this as we speak.
Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
Yeah, very small or insufficient amount, like very skinny, like weirdly.
Speaker 1 (01:26:21):
Ew Oh, it works. It looks like a like a
it's not. It's like a knockoff Pixar. Well let's say dreamwork. Yeah,
it's like a dream work like a yeah, like a
The best one is like the original where he's like
an Italian mob mouse.
Speaker 6 (01:26:40):
Hey kids, you remember like because the animatronics back in
the early nineties were not very good and so that
when the band would come on, they'd be like.
Speaker 1 (01:26:50):
Ah, there were stiff but like if you find videos
like the original checking cheese. He was like an Italian
gangs there. It was awesome. He's completely out of left
feel crazy. I have definitely going to this. I will
report back in a future episode. I'm gonna text Dom
(01:27:13):
as soon as we're done with this podcast, because he'll
go with me. Sadly. You know, you get you have
friendships that you just let fall by the wayside, So
this would be a great opportunity to rekindle that friendship.
He was my personal trainer and I slowly corrupted him
(01:27:34):
and it ended up all we did was like hang
out and drink beer together, which was better than personal training.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
Sorry, I'm getting text from my wife my son. So
backtracking to the electric car, it gives you alerts when
things happen when the car alarm goes off and you
like left the car unlocked and stuff. Yeah, and so
I just got a notification saying the alarm went off. Yeah,
and so I just texted my wife and she's like, yeah,
my son is waiting the car and accidentally accidentally opened
(01:28:02):
it and I can't shut it off.
Speaker 1 (01:28:04):
Wait, she allows your son her son. Did I say that?
Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
I just meant that our son was waiting in the car.
My son, right, there was waiting in the car, and
but now apparently the alarms off, the lights are still flashing.
Oh boy, So I I tried to do like a
remote lock unlock situation.
Speaker 1 (01:28:32):
Just like you just unplug it and plug it back in.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
Yeah, that's I said. Maybe try turning off and on
the car. Yeah, I don't know, So I just imagine
there's some panic happening right now.
Speaker 1 (01:28:49):
Analogue. Oh boy, I have two of these things pre ordered. Yeah,
I've had white and black, and because I didn't know
which one I wanted to keep, I've had them pre
ordered for as soon as they went live with pre
orders whenever.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
That was two years ago. Some like it's getting comical
because I also pre ordered four controllers.
Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
Those are controllers. Those got delivered right you did, like
in July.
Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
Controllers are now on sale for like thirty percent off
right now on Amazon.
Speaker 1 (01:29:27):
So this swits be pretty good controllers.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
I haven't even opened them out of the box because
I'm like, I don't have the.
Speaker 1 (01:29:33):
Three D but you use them on the switch too
to play at six four years Yeah, sure, that's not
my body. Yeah. Yeah, So it got delayed and then
it got delayed again. It's ironic delayed for so long
that the controllers.
Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
Yeah, that's that was the point. Yeah, the whole point
they did the developed those controllers was for the three
d's as far as I'm concerned. At the beginning of
the month in September, a month ago, they had some
gameplay of ten eight, which is one of my favorite
in sixty four games. By the way, I play that
came a lot as a kid. Yeah, yea, And so
(01:30:19):
it's just it's a very short, little kind of teaser video,
but at least it shows it running, assuming that it's
actually using the hardware.
Speaker 1 (01:30:27):
I didn't realize it.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
But there's no real news sense. They said it's supposed
to come Q four holiday season, which is nowishly within
the next couple of months. But yeah, hasn't been any
any shipping dates specifically.
Speaker 1 (01:30:45):
That's how they do. Though. I remember with the uh,
the Analog, the Nintendo, the ny S one is that
that one was the same story. I kept getting delayed, delayed, delayed,
and then it literally like shipped, like theyll, okay, it's
coming out, and then it came. It came within like
a week or something like that. Like it's like Nintendo
(01:31:06):
and it's live. Yeah, yeah, you can download it now.
It's super frustrating to their fans though, Like I don't
think it does them any favors when they just like
do radio silence like this.
Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
But at the same time, like I understand, you don't
want to like constantly be telling them this date and
then delaying, and then this day and then delaying and
then just stay and laying.
Speaker 1 (01:31:28):
Yeah, they have a unique relationship with their fans, Like
their fans are like they love the product, but they're
also toxic as shit. So maybe I understand why I
don't talk to them too often. It's fair, it's fair,
(01:31:49):
and that's maybe I didn't open the controler just like
try it out, though you should at least connected to
your switch and play like an N sexty four game
on your switch to see how. You also have like.
Speaker 2 (01:31:59):
I don't know, probably eight different regular N sixty four controllers, yeah,
all different colors.
Speaker 1 (01:32:05):
I went. I did order. I ordered on like all
the switch online controllers, yeah, those because I wanted the
GameCube one, which is pretty nice. Actually, this is honestly
like a really nice version of a GameCube controller. And
while I was on the website, like all the other
ones were in stock so except for the Genesis one.
(01:32:27):
So I just order them all and they're all really
nice and honestly, there is no replacement for like the
N sixty four.
Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
So is it stick the original joystick or do they
update it at all.
Speaker 1 (01:32:39):
I don't know if it's internally updated. I haven't taken
it apart or watched any videos about it, but it
feels like an original stick for better or worse. Well,
I mean, when they're new, they feel great. It's not
until they start to wear out that they start to
really suck. Speaking of N sixty four controllers, I did
add well I got this. Yeah, that's a good one.
(01:32:59):
I like that one, the Donkey Kong Banana and CC
controller with the brown tips. Yeah yeah, I'm not good.
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
But that's what actually has real tight sticks too.
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Yeah that's good. That's rare. It's hard to find like
a in good shape one. Yeah. Like, the only game
I fucking play is Mario Golf on that thing. But
you need a stick, you know, Like it just doesn't
feel right without a stick. It's true. I'm hoping that
they released the Mario Golf on the GameCube because I
(01:33:34):
mean Oh yeah, yeah, I've never played that one.
Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
Do you have the Expansion Pack?
Speaker 1 (01:33:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
Have you played any of the GameCube games on the
switch to yet?
Speaker 1 (01:33:46):
Not a lot. The GameCube wasn't my console, and there's
only like four games there, and I played a little
bit of so Caliber just you know, because I played
a lot of on the g Yeah. But like, I
don't know there. Eventually, if they get like they get
some of the Mario Sports games, which I really like.
I think those are fun. If they get Eternal Darkness,
(01:34:08):
I'll play all the way through that for sure. I
don't know if they'll get that though. I mean, who
do you think owns the rights to Eternal Darkness? At
this point, I'm not even sure who originally developed that.
It was Silicon Knights that originally did it. But I mean,
you know, I don't even remember what are the games
(01:34:29):
that are on there. While you're looking that up, I'm
gonna look at is Mario Sunshine on there yet? I
don't think Mario Sunshine is on there yet.
Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
I know that Pokemon XD and Pokemon Coliseum are coming
if they're not currently.
Speaker 1 (01:34:39):
Yeah, I'm not a Pokemon fan at all, so I
could care less about Pokemon games. The one I like
is Pokemon Snap because I just pretend instead of a camera,
I have a sniper rifle and un rails. So cab
(01:35:01):
Zelda Win Waker, which I played the we remake of
that or was it we you or h version? Yeah,
so like to play to go back to this version
isn't really interesting to me. F zero g X is
a fun game, but it's stupid hard. It's like stupid hard.
I think that was actually made by Sega. I really
want to.
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
Actually I own it, and I haven't played at the
F F zero GP Legend is like a story mode
F zero.
Speaker 1 (01:35:28):
What's that on? I kind of want to play. It's
a g b A. Oh really, I don't know if
it's on Nintendo Online or not. Yeah. So it's just
like a limited collection of games on here so far.
So you know, if they expand the the releases, I
play the I play the N sixty four, the Superintendo
(01:35:50):
and the and the Genesis more than I play these
five games. It's only five games, you know. Look, c
they just do this over time, right maybe the Sorry
I was.
Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
Looking at a review of the GP Legend. I don't
think it's actually a story game. Maybe I was incorrect.
I always thought it was maybe not uh.
Speaker 1 (01:36:14):
Pitfall, pitfall man. Pitfall is in and of itself a pitfall.
Speaker 2 (01:36:24):
Yeah, I did not remember this game being the way
it is.
Speaker 1 (01:36:29):
It's hard, man, it's it played.
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
It played kind of like Earthworm Gym to me.
Speaker 1 (01:36:35):
A little bit. Yes, platform I think that's a good comparison.
Speaker 2 (01:36:38):
Yeah, you get lost because there's a lot of vertical platforming,
and but you're going back and forth. You're going like
left and right and going left and then going back
right and then and then you got to drop down,
and then you gotta go right, then you gotta go
left and then do a drop down.
Speaker 1 (01:36:57):
Yeah, so it's like a two d uh, what'd you
call it? Action platform er? I think it's fair. It's
super well animated. It's a beautiful looking game. I think
it's like very very well animated, like to the I
think that's where I would I would compare it to
Aladdiner Earthworm Gym. It's just like has that look of
like you know, they drew these animations out and then
(01:37:20):
they you know, digitize the animations. The problem is that
the game is extremely slow to react to your button
presses because it has to go through all these animations
before your character. Like if your character jumps, he bends
at the knees and he braces for that jump and
then he jumps in the air, right, so it takes
(01:37:40):
him like a quarter second, let's say, to jump the air. Yeah,
which makes it I mean, it just adds to the
difficulty of the game. The character also just feels stiff, right,
and like it doesn't feel you know, it's hard. It's
hard to like describe. He doesn't feel like he's like
(01:38:02):
he just doesn't feel like an action hero. He feels
like a bumbling idiot, you know, which, Yeah, it kind
of works for like his animations, like it looks like
a kind of like a bumbling idiot. But it's just
the difficulty just does not match up with like the
look of the game and kind of the feel of
the game, to the point where I just find the
(01:38:24):
game to be sort of unfun. And the only way
I actually like to play this game is to just
turn on like invincibility cheats, so I could just kind
of like just go through it, yeah, just see it,
you know, because it's not like I don't find the
challenge to be entertaining. It's just it feels unfair. Like
that Cheetah bloss at the first the first level beat him.
(01:38:45):
I got really angry at that boss because, like it
is so hard. You basically have to predict when that
cheetah boss is gonna come on the screen. Because once
he's on the screen and running at you, your jump
animation is too slow. You cannot react to jump out
of it. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
Yeah, I was able to jump, but then I would
like turn around to like throw something at him, and
he was already in my face.
Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
He's already gone yeah. Yeah. Like so like I respect
how this game looks. I think it's like it's a
very charming character, but I cannot stand playing it.
Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
It's it's just Yeah, for me, it was I think
it was the responsiveness of the weapons and stuff that
was really tough for me, because you'd see the enemy
skin they're coming at you fast, and then you'd go
to like do something like the hit animation or the
throw animation, and then they're already like in your face,
like by the time the animation gets there.
Speaker 1 (01:39:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
So you take a lot of hits, and it's the
UI is not super clear on like how many hits
you have left or how many hits you've given the
boss or anything like that, you know what I mean. Like,
so it's a little it's a little hard to track.
Speaker 1 (01:39:50):
But yeah, like you said, the animation is pretty pretty dope,
the all the look and feel of it as far
as the.
Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
Graphics. Yeah, what did you play the SNS or the
Genesis version?
Speaker 1 (01:40:01):
I played the Superintendo version. I did want to check
out the Genesis version, but I'll be honestly, I really
get frustrated with this game pretty quickly, and.
Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
The Genesis version is a little better as far as.
Speaker 1 (01:40:12):
Okay, maybe that's maybe that's I'll check that out. I
only owned the Super Nintendo version, so I would have
to go to FPGA to play the Genesis version.
Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
From what I saw, it looks better on sn e S,
but it plays better on Genesis.
Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
And that always the way though. It's like it's like
it's like the story of the Super Nintendo of the
Genesis Expecter on Superintendo plays better on Genesis.
Speaker 2 (01:40:34):
I didn't even realize that this was supposed to be
a sequel after like Pitfall one and two for Atari.
Speaker 1 (01:40:40):
Yes, and yeah, I think the plan was to make
like this a franchise on its own, but it got
pretty mediocre reviews, and I think it just didn't do very.
Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
Well from what I saw, reviews were solid for sure. Yeah,
you know we're thinking like seven's eight's in some places.
Speaker 1 (01:41:01):
That's that's crazy. Give this game an eight or nine,
I think is insane, Like it looks like an eight
or a nine if you don't play it, but once
you play it, like what is going on here? Yeah,
there were a bunch of versions of this. I think
it came out on the so many different platforms, Yeah,
game gear, like just about everywhere at the time, and
(01:41:24):
I think did it get Did it come out on
the PlayStation as well? No? I do not this version
of it anyways. Okay, let's see sports.
Speaker 2 (01:41:36):
There's a section here on the Wikipedia for ports. There's
a Windows Port thirty two X.
Speaker 1 (01:41:50):
Yeah, a whole bunch.
Speaker 2 (01:41:51):
Sega CD was a big one. Yeah, the ones that
didn't get they were announced but didn't get released. It
was three dero Amiga, PlayStation Saturn, and I don't even.
Speaker 1 (01:42:00):
Know what that is you want. I think I owned
the Sega CD version when I was a kid. Almost possible.
I can't none of them are I don't think no,
because it's not a good game. It was first released
for Genesis, and then I got ported to all those
other systems. Well, it sold an excess of one million copies. Wow,
(01:42:24):
I'm surprised. Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
Nineteen ninety six, there was a bug on the Genesis
version where you could get stuck and not be able
to progress.
Speaker 1 (01:42:34):
Yeah, that does a surprise me at all.
Speaker 2 (01:42:38):
And also all the versions you can play the original
Atari twenty six hundred version of Pitfall was like a
little secret fourth That.
Speaker 1 (01:42:45):
Game is pretty fun still, does it? So?
Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
Is the budget of six million big? It feels big
for the time.
Speaker 1 (01:42:53):
Yeah, I would say so. I mean the game looks great.
So if you think about all the animation they had
to do for this game, it's got to be an
expensive It had to be expensive, right, you would think.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Yeah, so the sny S version runs lower resolution, but
it has higher color palette and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:43:18):
Yeah, that makes sense. Give me one second. It's amazing
the difference between like Sega versions of games. Like when
the same developer would do the Supers and the Genesis
version of the same game, the differences between the two
games would be it'd be it'd be pretty funny. The
Sega Genesis really did run a little bit faster to
(01:43:40):
the Super Nintendo, but the Super Nintendo always looked so
much better because it had the much higher color palette.
And then a lot of the times the graphics would
be like stretched on one or the other because the
resolution of the Super Nintendo and the Genesis was not
the same. So like graphics, if they use the same
assets on both versions of a game, it would look
(01:44:02):
a little fatter on one or the other because you know,
they didn't like, they didn't look exactly the same on
a Superintendent and Genesis a weird time in video gaming.
They completed so hard head to head, and they were
so similar, but they were.
Speaker 2 (01:44:19):
And now you liked when I think of Sega.
Speaker 1 (01:44:23):
Now I think Nintendo.
Speaker 2 (01:44:26):
Really like when you think about Sega games and the
platforms that they belong on. Yeah, like the new Sega
games are bringing Sega games back, Like it feels more
appropriate to have like old Sona games and stuff on
Nintendo than it does, like on any other platform for me.
Speaker 1 (01:44:44):
Yeah, okay, I can see where you're coming from. I
guess I associate New Sego with like the Yakuza games,
and okay, that's a Mortastation. That's strategy game that they have,
that strategy series that they have. And remember I don't
play a lot of the modern Sega games. Like they're
really popular, but they're just not my thing, like Yakins,
(01:45:04):
it's just not my my my jam. Yeah, but they're
super popular. Yeah, Like I wonder how much money Sega
makes now compared to like when they're like miad cycled
Genesis and killing it. Like I wonder, I wonder like
how successful Sega is because it seems like right now, Yeah, anyhow,
(01:45:27):
publisher are they publisher developer both? I think they're both. Yeah, Okay,
there were some news speaking of publishers.
Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
There were some Activision news where they're like coming back
with a whole bunch of stuff, but it just felt
like a bunch of like indie game cheat like they
felt kind of weird, Like some of them might be
fun to play, but it wasn't like any blockbuster games
coming through Activision. But at least they're coming back. Some
news that I kind of passed over.
Speaker 1 (01:45:57):
Yeah, it's weird because these names get passed from company
to company, but like the creatives behind those things don't
stay with those names. So it's like it's you know,
it often feels like just a shell. It's just like
a name drop more than like a spiritual sequel.
Speaker 2 (01:46:15):
Even right, So, do you want to know what my
choice is for the next I sure do.
Speaker 1 (01:46:23):
Oh, there's like a big reveal. He's walking away, he's
grabbing the game off the shelf. Is that the Super
Nintendo shelf? It is the Super Nintendo shelf. It's a
box version, you son of a bitch. Come on, Bubbsy.
Speaker 2 (01:46:43):
The reason there were some Bubbsy stuff in the news
because they're doing a bubbzy four D that's supposed to
improve on a bunch of the things from back in
the day.
Speaker 1 (01:46:52):
And there's also is it because I think they pretty
much addressed the fact that we're the series that nobody
needed to come back is coming back. I think they
like address that in their own marketing.
Speaker 2 (01:47:09):
I believe we need to re experience this game, Brier, don't.
Speaker 1 (01:47:12):
I don't believe we do. How about this? We make
a bet.
Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
Do you think it's going to be better or worse
than Pitfall?
Speaker 1 (01:47:20):
Worse?
Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
You think so?
Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
Yeah? Is that game called Clause Encounter of the Third Kind? Yes?
Are you looking at reviews? Yeah? I can't find any though.
It's like the Internet sucks now, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:47:38):
It's like just google bubb Z won, that's any s
review Genesis didn't get good reviews.
Speaker 1 (01:47:52):
I think it really went bad though. I think like
the first game was it was like, Okay, this is
kind of like a below average character action game, character
platforming game, like in the vein of like Sparkster or
Arrow the Acrobat. You know, we're like this was that
time when everybody had to have their own like mascot character,
(01:48:15):
Like everybody wanted their own Mario or Sonic, right, So
it's just one of those. But it really went bad
on the PlayStation when they made Buddy Bubbzy three D,
like that was a elite piece of shit.
Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
Yeah, a review about the Bubbzy four.
Speaker 1 (01:48:31):
I didn't see that. Another reason why I wanted to
do this.
Speaker 2 (01:48:34):
I was at packs packs Western Seattle, Yeah, and somebody
had a Bubbzy cosplay.
Speaker 1 (01:48:41):
I don't know if it was the brain and I
don't know if it was like for the new game.
Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
Yeah, because it very much looked like the Bubbsy from
the new game as opposed to the kind of the
old Bubzy. But I was like, you know, what we
need to do this game all right, and I want
I don't think it's as bad as you.
Speaker 1 (01:49:04):
Remember, I've never played it. I don't think i've ever
played Oh my, you have some strong opinions, though I
often have strong opinions on things that I know nothing about.
Giving an opportunity to learn. Literally, Uh, this review on Google.
(01:49:25):
The thing that it says, it says is Bubbsy the
best game ever made? No? Does Bubbsy wear pants? Also? No?
But I think they were saying, like, I enjoy this
game even though it's not the best game ever. You know,
like people enjoy this game. I don't. People enjoy Starship Troopers.
That doesn't make it a good movie. Somebody literally on
(01:49:48):
Reddit it says, I think the first Bubbsy game is underrated,
not great, but not offul either. I don't think it's
gonna be as bad as hot take off Reddit? What's
in that? Apparently some of.
Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
The hate that it gets is because it's really difficult.
Speaker 1 (01:50:06):
Oh fun, I'm so happy here, all right, Bubbsy it is.
I'm gonna play this one on the Pocket the Pocket.
I've been staring at the Pocket off podcasts and I
haven't haven't brought that one out in a bit.
Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
I think, I don't know if it's gonna go well
on the pocket though it's a platformer.
Speaker 1 (01:50:21):
What's wrong with small sprites? It's not on Switch online,
is it?
Speaker 2 (01:50:27):
Oh, you're gonna play it on the dock?
Speaker 1 (01:50:29):
No? On the pocket. I don't know. We'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 6 (01:50:37):
Not playing a ton of this game, no, no the switch, no,
no pickups for three months, I kind of don't.
Speaker 1 (01:50:49):
I've really gotten into the FPGA stuff, so I just
played the games on the FPGA, and now with the
switch having all these games on it, Yeah, like the
the I don't know. It's just like I like rewind,
you know, like I like to cheat at these old
games that were so fucking hard. Wonder is Bubzy on
the Switch? I don't know. Look, uh, there's a collection
(01:51:17):
for twenty bucks on the swing. How dare you the
perfect collection? Briar? Let me see can I get that?
You can also get it unlimited run. You can also
get it a limited run for thirty five bucks. Oh
(01:51:39):
of course, let's see if can I get it delivered
to my house? Physical addition, that's hilarious, Bubbs. There's a
game called Bubsy Pause on Fire.
Speaker 2 (01:51:54):
Is that a new game?
Speaker 1 (01:51:57):
I have no idea. Now it doesn't look like I
could switch a edition the Amazon. This looks like a
new game Pause on Fire. Yeah, it's like a four
player co op game, m and not official. Maybe I'm
pretty sure.
Speaker 2 (01:52:16):
Why wouldn't it be official?
Speaker 1 (01:52:18):
From the developer of Bit Trip Bit Dot Trip, which
is a Vita feel like No, I just feel like
we would have heard if somebody beating a Bubsy game, Like, yes,
Bubbsy four D is coming out, and everybody knows, like
somebody's making that new Buzsy game. What do they like?
Hate money?
Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
This came out in twenty nineteen, This Bubsy on Fire.
Speaker 1 (01:52:41):
Game twenty nineteen. I wonder if this is like one
of those like remember how that Uie Bowl guy was
making those crappy movies out in Germany because there's some
kind of like loophole where Germany would give you a
bunch of money to make a movie. I wonder if
this Buzzy thing is like that, where like, well, if
we make a game, somebody's gonna give us a bunch
of money, so just make a shitty game. What's the
(01:53:05):
reviews for it?
Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
Five out of ten?
Speaker 1 (01:53:08):
Somebody gave it an eight out of ten. Or maybe
it's like The Producers where they found out tax loophole.
Do you ever see The Producers? Yes, a long time ago. Well,
so maybe it's like those guys where they found a
tax loophole. So it was they'd make more money making
a play that nobody went to see than one that
was good. So they made Springtime with Hitler, Yeah, thinking
(01:53:32):
that nobody would come to see it, and then it
became a big hit in you know, comedy.
Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
So I got this quote, Bubbsy Pause on Fire is
the Bobcats first truly great.
Speaker 1 (01:53:42):
Outing Wow officially license Kate. I'm sure, yeah, probably, sure, sure,
all right, Bubbsy.
Speaker 2 (01:53:55):
The collection that Bubbsy on Fire is on that collection?
All right, my pickups, I have more than this. I'm
gonna fly through these as quickly as I can. Because
for anybody who didn't know, this year, I since I
haven't been streaming full time, I had to figure out income,
and so I've been buying and selling more for income
(01:54:16):
than just to add to my collection. But I still
have been adding a lot of things because I cannot
when stuff. When I get a deal on something and
I want to keep it, I keep it. Uh, Kirby
Starstacker for Game Boy. I'd been targeting this one for
a good while.
Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
Yeah, good shape. Is that like a puzzle it? Yeah,
it's a puzzle game. Kirby puzzle game. Uh, Yoshi topsy Turvy.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
Have ever played this? It has built in It's got
a gyroscope in it, so you have to tilt. It's
not the best game, like tilt Yoshi to get them
to like roll places and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:54:54):
There was like a pinball game that had did I
have a gyroscope in it?
Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
Pokemon Pinball for Game Boy Color had gyroscope in it?
Speaker 1 (01:55:04):
Was or that was rumble It?
Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
Yeah, wharri Aware for Game Boy Advance also has gyroscope
in it.
Speaker 1 (01:55:11):
Was there a Metroid game that had it?
Speaker 2 (01:55:13):
Drill Dozer also has gyroscope in it.
Speaker 1 (01:55:16):
It threatened me with a drill dozer. Here we go,
speaking of idiocris, I think, yeah, wait that was Tell
me what you think of this? Tell me what you
think of this cover art? Dude, I don't know who
that guy is, but I'm into him. Carnage it's like
a car racing game. Actually doesn't look too bad.
Speaker 2 (01:55:38):
Looks like an RC pro am type game.
Speaker 1 (01:55:42):
It does look kind of fun.
Speaker 2 (01:55:44):
I also got new Pokemon two DSXL the Pikachu red
red face.
Speaker 1 (01:55:53):
Is that what it looks like on the inside.
Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
This is what the two DSXL looks like.
Speaker 1 (01:55:57):
That's like the top is that that's a two D
that folds? Oh God, don't drop it? Oh okay, back,
there's the remember there while they were making the two DS,
that was like wedge shaped the fold. Yeah, the two
D s.
Speaker 2 (01:56:17):
Yeah, that was the first one.
Speaker 1 (01:56:20):
Batman returns for S N E S, which.
Speaker 2 (01:56:23):
I think is a pretty good one if I remember correctly.
It's Konami. Remember that one's uh super conflict, which look
at that.
Speaker 1 (01:56:36):
He is so psyched to be at war. Look at
me back twenty three year old that they brought in
and put spray tann on and put some take you know,
army jacket on. That dude's only seen Rambow two, not
Rainbow one. So I finally have Mega Man x two
(01:56:58):
complete in box, and it's probably the CLT I can get.
Speaker 2 (01:57:02):
It might be the cleanest copy this. It has plastic
on it, but it might be the cleanest copy that
I've found. I pieced it together. I had the cart
I bought the box and the registration and then I
just recently got the manual like yesterday. But now I
just need X three and then I will have every
well no, sorry, scratch that.
Speaker 1 (01:57:23):
There's a few more. I need X three complete.
Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
I need Mega Man Soccer and Mega Man seven, and
then I'll have every single Mega Man game from any
S and S ANYS complete.
Speaker 1 (01:57:33):
I've only played the first X game and I liked it.
I don't know why I've never played that. They were
really good. Yeah, did you ever play this in the arcade?
Trog No, I've never heard of that one.
Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
It used, if I remember correctly, the arcade used like claimation,
but the ANYS version does not.
Speaker 1 (01:57:53):
What a great box art like, that's really fun. I've
never seen that before. Yeah, it's it's like a Bomberman
type game. Oh, that sounds fun. What was your question? Oh?
I think it was year Now what kind of game
it was.
Speaker 2 (01:58:10):
I'm pretty sure it's like a It's like a puzzle Bomber,
at least whenever I saw it in the arcade. I
never actually played it, but it looked like Bomberman to
me because it had like all the obstacles and you're
running around the little things.
Speaker 1 (01:58:23):
There's no new Bomberman games.
Speaker 2 (01:58:25):
There's some Switch Bomberman games.
Speaker 1 (01:58:27):
But I like the box. It runts me of a
like old Cereal cartoons, like Johnny Quest Old Snake Guy
on the back. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:58:40):
I had never seen this and it popped up and
I was like, I've not seen that.
Speaker 1 (01:58:44):
I looked it up. I'm like, oh, this is half priced. Sure,
I'll buy it. Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:58:48):
I don't think I showed you this Nightmare on Elm Street.
Speaker 1 (01:58:52):
I've played that game. Is it good? No, it's a
jail End the Top Last Day. That'll answer your question.
I think Rainbow logo up there. Yeah, yeah, pretty much
tells you all you need. It looks. Isn't it the.
Speaker 2 (01:59:08):
Sequel to the Friday the Thirteenth game? Basically, I haven't developers.
Speaker 1 (01:59:12):
I don't know anything about it. I remember retting it
when I was a kid, and I remember I did
not like it.
Speaker 2 (01:59:18):
I've actually never played this before. This was the first
print Wrecking Crew.
Speaker 1 (01:59:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:59:24):
Have you ever played Wrecking Crew?
Speaker 1 (01:59:26):
I think so.
Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
They actually made an homage to Wrecking Crew in the
Super Mario Brothers movie because one of the dudes was
wearing a Wrecking Crew hat. I was like, that's an
Easter Egg.
Speaker 1 (01:59:37):
That movie was pretty fun. Yeah, I enjoyed it. Oh
what did you think about the announcement of the Super
Mario Galaxy.
Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
I mean, I think it's interesting. They're bringing a lot
of the new characters, the Rosalita, Rosalina and stuff Rosalita.
I don't know if it's anything like the first one.
I think it'll be a okay, Motterre City in Control,
which is like the first Grand Up.
Speaker 1 (02:00:03):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
I think I've shown this here before, but I just
got it complete, not that long ago. Kind of an
uncommon it's a match I didn't even realize it's a
matchbox game.
Speaker 1 (02:00:11):
Yeah, that's interesting, matchbox GTA.
Speaker 2 (02:00:15):
And then now I have bases loaded for CIB, which
is the kind of more rare uncommon.
Speaker 1 (02:00:23):
God, how many of those did they make?
Speaker 2 (02:00:25):
Four for a neys, four of them for ANYS, which
the first two are like you can get them for
like twenty bucks CIB third one, I think is maybe.
Speaker 1 (02:00:34):
A little bit more than this one's. I feel like that.
Or RBI Baseball was like kind of everybody had one
or the other. Yes, yes, yeah, you know what I
need to do one or two.
Speaker 2 (02:00:46):
A game that I don't have yet, cib is super
bases loaded or not super bases loaded. That's super what's
a baseball to twenty twenty?
Speaker 1 (02:00:54):
Oh yeah that game was a robot? Yeah that is
kind I like playing that one first. One more geo
version of that too. I think.
Speaker 2 (02:01:03):
I also did complete my Eurofighters for sees, but y'all
didn't need to see that.
Speaker 1 (02:01:07):
And then I got the box for this guy. Wow,
that's a cool game. I still need to get the
Fight for listeners. Sorry, okay, I got the box.
Speaker 2 (02:01:17):
Somebody was selling.
Speaker 1 (02:01:18):
The story was.
Speaker 2 (02:01:21):
They had a friend who owned a bunch of game
stores that sometimes would send them stuff to sell. But
they sold me this box for like twenty bucks.
Speaker 1 (02:01:28):
How much is it worth? Like four hundred? Shit?
Speaker 2 (02:01:33):
But they like some stuff they very underpriced. Other ones
they weigh overpriced. Like they sold me a Mega Man
four box for like one hundred and forty dollars and
it's like a sixty dollars box. I was like, whatever,
it all evens out, Like, I was happy with the
price that I paid for everything, but they itemized everything
and I'm like that's worth ten times as much. That's
where double that's overpriced. I was like, whatever, if I
(02:01:55):
had just seen the end number, I would have been happy.
Speaker 1 (02:01:57):
So I just I just paid them. It's fine. There's
not another there's a really rare final fight game is it?
For that PS three? There's another really rare one that
I think is worth some money. It's a bad game, though,
it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:02:11):
There's I know there's like Final Fight for PS three,
the PS two.
Speaker 1 (02:02:16):
I'm not sure there's Final Fight guy for sn sight CD. Yeah,
this is like much more recent, like Xbox three sixty era.
Maybe uh, the last there's a place, No, that's that's
our type. The revenge maybe Final Fight, the Revenge, something
(02:02:38):
like that.
Speaker 2 (02:02:40):
Bad game, Bad game Final Fight street Wise for PlayStations
street Wise.
Speaker 1 (02:02:44):
That could be it. Yeah, that could be a.
Speaker 2 (02:02:46):
Six sixty bucks. The second CD ones more significantly expensive.
The Final Fight three for SNS is pretty hard to
get to.
Speaker 1 (02:03:02):
Good shape.
Speaker 2 (02:03:03):
If you get Final Fight three for us and he asks,
most of the time it's just beat the hell. Yeah,
It's like it's like a Mega Man X three or
a Mega Man seven. Those are all just beat the hell. Anyways,
that's it.
Speaker 1 (02:03:16):
That's it, Bubbsy excited. I mean, I'm getting there, honestly,
Like worst case scenario in two weeks I start ripping
on bubbsy would be great joy. So I'm either giving
him ammo or I'm changing his perspective one or the other.

I really like the podcast, but I'm really mad because
my favorite podcast is actually Reteal Slot and.
Speaker 2 (02:04:34):
