And before we get started, wehave a message from our friends
Eric and Alexa.

Leave the stroller at home.

Vanessa Ferguson (00:56):
Very true.

Kris Johns (00:57):
Let Eric and Alexa help you out.
They are independent baby quitproviders located in Orlando,
and what they're going to do ismake your life a lot easier.
The first and what they'regoing to do is make your life a
lot easier.
The first thing that they'regoing to do is they're going to
provide you an excellentselection of everything you need
for the little ones, whether itbe strollers, car seats.
What else do they do, vanessa?

Vanessa Ferguson (01:15):
Cribs high chairs.

Kris Johns (01:17):
Yeah, there's just some, you know.

Vanessa Ferguson (01:18):
You name it, they can get it.

Kris Johns (01:19):
And there's pieces of equipment that dads just
don't know the name of.
They know what it looks like, but they couldn't pick it out.
But Eric and Alexa have whatyou need, and the great thing is
is not only is it new, not onlyis their service top notch, but
what's even better is that theyhave providers that will bring
what you need directly to yourresort.
We've used them multiple times.
Karis still needs a stroller.

(01:40):
She's just not as quick asVanessa and I, and nor can she
walk all day.
But as part of that, we useBabyQuip and it was awesome.
And so, with that, pleaseremember, as you're planning
your trip, to consider them andas your BabyQuip independent
quality provider, they willprovide you with excellent
customer service by providingclean and useful equipment to

(02:02):
make your vacation easy.
Want something that you don'tsee?
Just ask.
We've used them several timesand we will use them again.

Vanessa Ferguson (02:13):
Yes, so check out the show notes for the link
to make your reservation today.
So, moving on what we're goingto talk about today, we are
really looking forward tosharing with you.
We are going to be joined byKevin and Amanda, and we got a
chance to meet them at the Houseof Mouse Expo.
So that's always fun, and whilewe were there we were able to
get one of their products to tryout.

(02:33):
And they have a business calledwe Are in the Park and they
offer scavenger hunt game packs.
We got a chance to try a smallone for Epcot.
It's really fun.
It kind of adds a uniqueexperience to your trips,
especially for those of uswho've been there a lot, but
also for people who arecompletely new to the parks.
It helps you dig in a littledeeper.

(02:54):
But we'll get to Kevin andAmanda here in a bit.
But before we hear about alltheir fun, we're going to talk
about some With when in the Park.
You kind of dig a little bitdeeper into things in the park.
So you're going to talk aboutsome with where in the park.
You kind of dig a little bitdeeper into things in the park,
so you're going into areas thatyou might not always go to, and
it made me think about findingsome of those characters that

(03:16):
you might not just automaticallygo and meet.
And it's not to say thatthey're not characters that you
would meet, but they're not onesthat are kind of on the main
pass.
They're ones that you have togo looking for, you need to
schedule.
So I'm calling this like ouroff the beaten path character
meet and greets.
Now I'm going to share from ourexperience.

(03:36):
Of course, I also got somegreat information from our
friends at Disney Food Blog andAdventures of a Disney Dad.
I'll share some of their linksin the show notes Food Blog and
Adventures of a Disney Dad.
I'll share some of their linksin the show notes.
And one thing that's alwaysimportant when you're looking
for characters, check in the myDisney Experience app.
There's actually a tab whereyou can click characters and let

(03:56):
you see.
When we were doing our four-partchallenge, which we'll be
talking about soon in a show, wewere meeting characters at each
park and that allowed me toplan ahead, because you can see
the times the characters aregoing to be there, which is very
helpful.
So today we're going to zero inon some of those characters
that you might not automaticallygo find, or maybe those

(04:16):
locations that you might notautomatically head to.
And of course, we're going tostart off in Magic Kingdom, and
so in Magic Kingdom there's someof those areas that everyone
goes to every time they go, andI would think that those are
kind of where you go to thePrincess Fairytale Hall, mickey,

(04:37):
up front.
Those are some of the ones thatpeople tend to head to right
away, tend to head to right away.
So one place that a lot ofpeople know about, but I think a
lot of people don't make itback to, is going to visit the
Disney Pals at Pete's SillySideshow in Storybook Circus.
So this is where you can meetMinnie Magnifique, disney

(05:03):
Fortuno, the Astounding Don Naloand the Great Guffini, and so
that's really a fun place to gosee the characters, where
they're all dressed up, theyhave some of those unique
costumes, they look like they'reready to be in the circus show
and it's nice because you canget them all.
They're not together in a photo, but you can go and wait in one

(05:25):
line and see all of them, whichis really nice, and because
it's at the back of the park, Ithink a lot of people don't take
the time to go there.
So it's not necessarily ahidden one, but it's one that I
think a lot of people justreally don't realize, that they
don't always make it thereduring their day.
Now, when you move a little bitfurther up front, one place is

(05:47):
in Tomorrowland.
A lot of people don't realizethat you can sometimes meet some
of the characters there.
Chip and Dale will periodicallyappear right by Buzz Lightyear
Space Ranger Spin, so that'skind of that area that's down
when you're taking the peoplemover.
It's between where you exitfrom Buzz Lightyear and where
Carousel of Progress is, soyou'll periodically Chip and

(06:09):
Dale will be there.
We've even seen some charactersfrom Zootopia there at
different times, so check theapp to see who's there.
Stitch also sometimes makes anappearance in Tomorrowland, so
check on the guide to see whenyou might be able to catch him.
Now, since she moved from heroriginal place that was over by

(06:30):
the castle Merida now is over,so where Merida was before is
where Maribel is from Encanto.
So Merida is now over in theEnchanted Glade Gazebo, which is
back behind the Christmas shopand kind of the bridge that you
can take over to Adventureland, the entrance to Adventureland,
and at like Christmas time, santa's there and different

(06:52):
things like that.
So Merida is kind of backbehind.
I think a lot of people don'tgo there unless you cut through
some of the paths behind thosebuildings.
So that's considered LibertySquare, if you're looking on the
map Now, kind of moving alongfrom where she's at into
Adventureland.
Now we tend to see them more atsome of the after hours parties

(07:15):
because they tend to behighlighted.
But you can see Aladdin andJasmine at the Agrabah Bazaar.
So over by where the flyingcarpet ride is, they're right
back behind there and that'skind of nice because you can
usually get them together andnot too far from there.
Over by Pirates of theCaribbean and I know we have

(07:36):
some friends that love piratesyou can see Captain Jack Sparrow
and he's there periodicallythroughout the day.
Usually he'll do a little bitof a show, not like a formal
show, but he has a good act thathe has, along with being able
to have a chance to take apicture with him.
So again, these are some ofthose characters that you don't

(07:56):
get to see all the time.
They might not appear at a lotof other places.
Now, one thing that I sawmentioned in several spots and
we've never lucked out to seethis, but this is definitely a
good tip, and it might beearlier in the day, which is why
we might have missed it,because we are not early risers
to the parks.

Kris Johns (08:14):
We are not.
We will close the park down, but we will not open it.

Vanessa Ferguson (08:17):
Yes, so I think these tend to be earlier
in the day.
But the Town Square porch onMain Street, usa.
A lot of the princesses will bethere and, from what I've read,
whatever princesses are inFairytale Hall that day, it will
be different ones.
So a lot of times you'll seeSnow White or Mulan or any of
them that are not in theFairytale Hall.

(08:38):
They won't have them in bothplaces.
So check out Town Square Porch,so right when you first enter
Main Street.
They often will have princessesthere and of course the app
will let you know if they'rethere that day.
I believe, though it'stypically in the morning, which
is why we've probably missedthem.
So that rounds out some of thecharacters that you could find

(08:59):
at Magic Kingdom.
We're going to now head over toHollywood Studios Kingdom.
We're going to now head over toHollywood Studios, and over
there they have kind of a mix ofcharacters that you see in
other parks as well, but youhave some unique twists.
So one thing that I really likethere is the Mickey and Minnie,
and if you go, it's titledStarring in Red Carpet Dreams

(09:22):
because it's backed by the WaltDisney exhibit, but they have
usually Mickey a sorcerer.
Mickey and Minnie is kind of inher Hollywood glamour outfit,
so it's fun.
I like getting the charactersin their different outfits.

Kris Johns (09:36):
Oh, definitely.

Vanessa Ferguson (09:37):
Yeah, so that's, I think, part of the fun
.
If you've been to Disney, you've had your picture with
Mickey and Minnie, most likely, but this gives you a chance to
get them in some of theirdifferent outfits.
Now, one thing that's fun ifyou have little ones in your
group is to check out the DisneyJunior Pals in the courtyard
right by the Disney Junior DanceShow.
They have Vampirina, fancyNancy and a lot of other ones.

(10:00):
We've done that one with ourdaughter and it's usually not a
very long wait for those DisneyJunior ones.
We've done that one with ourdaughter and it's usually not a
very long wait for those DisneyJunior ones, so it's nice to be
able to go over there and seethem.
It's covered, so in thesummertime or any other time
where it's really hot out, it'sa nice little area to go over
there and the characters arealways fun for kids.

(10:21):
Now, in that same area can oftensee pluto as well.
He'll also be in the animationcourtyard, so that's nice if you
got mickey and minnie somewhereand then you can come over and
get pluto.
Now we know Kris doesn't likeStar Wars, I do not, but over in
so a lot of people I think theyhead over to the main star wars

(10:43):
area to see the characters, butthey don't necessarily go over
to the launch bay and at thelaunch bay you can see BB-8,
Chewbacca and Darth Vader andthey typically will have a
special meet and greet forDisney Chase card visa holders.
So I know we've always gonethere and gotten those photos.
So that's kind of a nice thingbecause it's a little bit off of

(11:07):
a different area than where youwould go for the main Star Wars
attractions.
Now, over by, closer towardsthe front of the park, near Echo
Lake and this is would be nearlike the Indiana Jones show as
well as near 50s Primetime Cafeyou can see Donald and Daisy and
sometimes Chip and Dale appearthere.

(11:28):
We got our pictures with Donaldand Daisy on this last trip and
it was fun because it was anice backdrop and they were both
there together.

Kris Johns (11:35):
Yes, it was very nice.

Vanessa Ferguson (11:37):
So that's something that a lot of times
you'll have Donald or Daisy, butit's nice to get them together.
And also in that area rightnear Grand Avenue, so a little
bit closer to the front, you canget Goofy and Max, which I
would like to get.
I would like to get them onetime.
We actually met the voice ofMax at the House of Mouse Expo,
so it's fun to be able to.

(11:57):
It'd be fun to be able to get aphoto of Max himself, so that
kind of rounds out the more.
And again, I'm not giving youall of the characters, Like, for
instance, at Hollywood studioswe see Olaf all the time, but
Olaf is a genie plus character.
People are always over there.
So those are ones that you'regoing to get, you're going to

(12:18):
know about.
So we're trying to cover someof those bases of ones that
might be new to you.
Moving over to Epcot so let'ssay you take the Skyliner over
and you're going to see some newcharacters.
A great place to see charactersat Epcot we always usually find
them is at the InternationalGateway, so as you're coming in,
we've seen Daisy there quite afew times.

(12:39):
So and one thing I've saw, andwe've not been there before to
see her in this, but saw thatsometimes with Daisy they'll
have her in different outfits.
We've just saw her there in herlike her regular, usually like
the pink and the purple, but Isaw during food and wine
sometimes she'll have like achef outfit on.

(13:01):
So it's kind of fun.
But going into theinternational gateway, check on
the app, because it's usuallylike late morning, early
afternoon you'll see Daisy willbe there and there often will
sometimes be some othercharacters as well.
Now, when another place thatyou can sometimes find
characters is right, reallyright, when you first go in, If

(13:25):
you were coming from theInternational Gateway, we're
going to spend most of our timeback in World Showcase, but over
in the United Kingdom that is agreat place to see some of the
face characters that you don'tsee in a lot of other places.
You can see Alice, depending onthe time of day, and Mary
Poppins, and our daughter knowsshe loves Mary Poppins, she

(13:45):
knows she can see Mary Poppinsthere.
She asked for Mary Poppins whenwe were there last fall.
And another character that'skind of tucked in the back of
the UK pavilion is Winnie thePooh.
They have it set up to looklike Christopher Robin's room.
It's back behind where they dosome of the concerts, behind
some of the shops.

(14:06):
So a lot of people don't go seeWinnie the Pooh back there.
They see him at Magic Kingdom.
But definitely check him out atthe UK.
He's there for the most of theday.
Alice and Mary Poppins are goingto be spread out and a lot of
times people just see thembecause they happen to be
walking by.
But if you check on the appthey will have set times there.
Now, moving into some of theother countries, I think in

(14:30):
France people tend to see theyhave Aurora and Belle there and
they're usually in the gazebo.
That's quite a busy areabecause people are coming in
from the International Gatewayor walking from the other way,
but you can see Aurora or Belledepending on the time of day.
But I think as you move to someof the other countries, people
don't realize that you can see alot of the other countries.
People don't realize that youcan see a lot of the princesses.

(14:51):
We tend to go to Epcot to seethem, not only in Norway at the
meal, but really taking timejust to go see them at the
different pavilions.
And that's nice because if youdon't want to spend the extra
money to go to Norway becausethat meal is wonderful.
We really enjoy the meal there.

(15:11):
We do but it can be quite pricey.
So depending on your budget, orif you're not on the meal plan,
don't fret, you can still checkthem out throughout the World
Showcase.
So we mentioned already aboutin France.
But as you move along, jasmineis really great to meet in the
Morocco Pavilion.
She's kind of back a little bittowards the back of the

(15:32):
pavilion.
You walk through by some of theshops and our daughter really
enjoyed meeting Jasmine when wemet her back there.
And then when you move over toGermany you can meet Snow White.
A lot of times she is going tobe over by the wishing well, and
do you remember meeting SnowWhite before?
no well, Kris wanted to meetsnow white, so we all dig out

(15:55):
those pictures and I'll sharethose with the, with everybody.
But snow white you can see her.
And then also over in china, you can see Mulan.
She's one that we always seemto miss.
She has very few times and it'susually like early afternoon.
We never tend to be in thatpart of the park.
So if you want to see Mulan, make sure that you time it well

(16:17):
and plan it through the app, andthat's one thing I will say you
definitely, for if you want toget all of them, you're going to
have to be strategic in how youplan it.
We've sent Kris ahead of timeto get in line for the
princesses.

Kris Johns (16:29):
How you plan it, we've sent.

Vanessa Ferguson (16:30):
Kris ahead of time to get in line for the
princesses.
Yes, that's my job.
Yeah, his job is to get in linefor us so you can check them
out throughout the WorldShowcase, which I think is very
nice.
Now there are some othercharacters that you can see
further up towards the front ofthe park and right now, mickey.
So this is April of 2024.
Mickey is in the Disney andPixar Short Film Festival area

(16:53):
in the Imagination Pavilion.
But this is pretty fun Startingin June.
So officially, on June 10th,mickey and friends are going to
be a new meet and greet that'sgoing to be in the in the
Communicore Hall.
So that's part of that new areathat they've been working on
and I will say this isdefinitely not going to be an

(17:13):
off the beaten path characters.
There's going to be a lot ofpeople going to see Mickey there
, but right now, over where he'sat at the Disney and Pixar
Short Film Festival area, there's usually not a long line.
I've seen people walking in andout of there pretty fast.
So that kind of rounds out themain characters that you're
going to find in some of thosedifferent areas that you might

(17:35):
not necessarily go to lookingfor characters.
Now, last but not least, we'regoing to talk about Animal
Kingdom and there are a fewnon-traditional character meets
and greets I would say.
The first is Kevin.
From up he's usually roamingand he tends to be in dino land,

(17:57):
or we saw him on our last tripnear the winged encounter show.
I don't think Kris had any cluewho the big bird was, I did not
.
So, kevin, you can check out.
He's not going to be like inone spot, he moves around.
So I did a selfie with Kevinwhen he was walking through
Another kind of fun thing.
And they are not going to stopbecause they're on a boat, but

(18:20):
they have the characterflotillas that go down the
Discovery River and we sawScrooge McDuck this last time.

Kris Johns (18:28):
That was awesome.

Vanessa Ferguson (18:28):
Yeah.
So Scrooge McDuck and LaunchpadMcQuack will be there, and
sometimes you'll see Mickey andfriends, or you could see
Pocahontas and Miko, so that'skind of a fun thing to see.
So if you're walking over someof the bridges, look down, and
that's just how we happen to seeScrooge McDuck and catch a
quick picture.
Now, over in Rafiki's PlanetWatch, also coming in June, so

(18:55):
we have the new Mickey andMinnie one, or the Mickey and
Friends one, coming to Epcot atRafiki's Planet Watch, you're
going to have Timon and Rafikithat are going to be meeting
people starting on June 10th aswell.
So I think that will be prettycool.
Of course that is off the beatenpath because you have to take
the train back to Conservation.
So I think that will be prettycool.
Of course that is off thebeaten path because you have to
take the train back toConservation Station, but that
will be a neat combination ofcharacters to check out.

(19:17):
Now, one thing that we did onour recent trip is over in
Dinoland, donald's Dino Bash, which we all keep hearing rumors
that we don't know how longthey will be there, but most
people know Donald Duck is thereand a lot of times we want to
get Chip and Dale in theirdinosaur suits.
But one thing that a lot ofpeople don't realize is, tucked

(19:41):
back a little bit further is you, as you walk towards as you
walk towards, the dinosaur ridewill be able to catch daisy, and
daisy had really cute outfit on.
We got some great pictures withdaisy, sure did so daisy duck is
over there and sometimesthey'll have goofy as well.

(20:03):
So that's kind of neat.
I think a lot of people headover there to get donald duck
and chip and dale, but peopleoften miss Daisy and of course
he's not there all the time.
But getting goofy is also anice fun thing to do.
So this just gives you a way.
I think sometimes people assumeyou have to go to those really
long lines for some of thosepopular areas for the meet and

(20:25):
greets or go to a character meal, which we love going to the
character meals.
But this also gives you a mixof characters in different
outfits and different locationsand I think really part of going
to Disney is getting thosecharacter photos.

Kris Johns (20:40):
That's one of my favorite parts.
You know, when you ride therides and eat at the places,
it's those character photos thatreally make the trip.

Vanessa Ferguson (20:47):
Now I know I mentioned briefly to Kris, but I
don't know if he ever reallypaid attention.
I think it would be fun to do atrip where you try to get as
many different characters aspossible.

Kris Johns (20:58):
Yes.

Vanessa Ferguson (20:59):
And of course it's fun because you could get
those different outfits in thedifferent parks and stuff.
So hopefully this will help youcheck out some of those less
frequented Disney character meetand greets at the different
parks and love to see somephotos of all of you and some
with some of these differentcharacters.
I'll share some of ours fromdifferent trips because it is

(21:21):
nice when you don't have to waitlike an hour or two hours for a
character, like you sometimesdo at the parties.
So check out these charactersand definitely share with all of
us.
We'd love to see that.
So give us just a minute andwe'll get our call up with Kevin
and Amanda.
We'd like to welcome Kevin andAmanda to the show.
Their business, wear in thePark, has all kinds of really

(21:44):
great games that you can play, not only at the Disney parks but
also other parks across thecountry, which we'll talk about
a little bit later.
We ourselves were able to getan Epcot fun pack when we were
down, when we got to meet themat the House of Mouse Expo, and
all of their packs are designedto really be a fun, creative way
to experience the parks in anew way, especially for people

(22:06):
like all of us and most of ourlisteners, who are veteran park
goers.
It gives you something new andsome fun elements to do while
you're in the park.
So we'd like to welcome Kevinand Amanda to the show.
Hello.

Kevin Richardson (22:17):
Hi, thank you so much for having us.

Vanessa Ferguson (22:19):
Now, recently we've been asking people what is
their favorite event at anyDisney park, and I know you're
from California so you mighthave something a little bit
different, but we'd love to hearfrom each of you what's your
favorite event at a Disney parkour, our favorite event is a
little non-traditional, but wewere staying on brand and we

(22:41):
like to do scavenger hunts atDisneyland in particular.

Kevin Richardson (22:46):
so how we got got started was we would
participate in scavenger huntsput on by the Facebook group
Mouse for Life and the organizerwould take pictures around the
Disneyland Resort and it wouldbe really small details of the

(23:06):
park in black and white andthere was about a hundred
pictures and you had eight hoursand have fun.
Whoever found the most wouldwin and that would include the
Disneyland, disneyland,california Adventure, downtown
Disney, any Disney propertyhotel and the parking structure,
so it covered a wide area.

(23:27):
It was very intense.
It was very intense and it washeld each year and our team if
anyone is familiar with theMouse for Life scavenger hunts,
if you saw the great mousedetectives, that's us.
We won six out of the eightyears and five years in a row
Wow.

(23:47):
So, we are five time reigningchamps and the reason why is
because we would studythroughout the year, because we
would take pictures ourselveseach time we were at the parks
and then send them to each otherthroughout the year to kind of
study.
You know where in the park isthis image?
So, with the pandemic, ofcourse everything shut down and,

(24:12):
uh, disneyland changed their umreservation system.
They created the reservation, yeah, they created the
reservation system and um, we,we can't really gather together
in the same capacity, and sobecause it was a big annual
event where a lot of groupswould come.
There would be several teamsplaying yeah 30 teams of four to

(24:33):
six people, so it was a reallybig event.
It was a lot of fun, so thosewere definitely our favorite
events, yeah, so not an officialDisney event.

Vanessa Ferguson (24:43):
Sure no.
Sometimes those are more funthan the Disney ones.

Kevin Richardson (24:47):
Exactly so.
That's really how we gotstarted.

Amanda Richardson (24:51):
Yeah, it got us looking at the parks in a
whole new way.
To this day, we still have kindof that eye.
When we walk through a themepark it's like, ooh, that would
be a good one.
You know, just that thought inyour head.
So, yeah, it's kind of what gotus to where we are.

Vanessa Ferguson (25:06):
So that really ties into our first question,
which you've already answeredpart of this, but maybe go into
a little bit more detail to tellus about your business and what
are the products you offerconnected to Disney?

Amanda Richardson (25:18):
Yeah, so we make games for theme parks.
They're all seek and find, scavenger hunt games, so the
idea is that you would go to ourwebsite, whereintheparkcom.
Choose your park that you like.
We have, like already mentionedby Vanessa, that we have
several parks.
We have all the Disney parks inNorth America, though, so for

(25:38):
all the Disney fans out there,so you choose your parks and
then you go to the park with apack of cards, and every card
has an image that was pulledfrom the theming of that park,
and it's your request to go outand figure out where in the park
.

Kevin Richardson (25:52):
And if you need any help, we do have hints
on the back.
It's kind of a play on words,we think we're funny.
We come up with all the hints.
Some have haikus, but they havewords that are in blue, that

(26:13):
are ones you need to payattention to, and it'll get you
to the general area of the image, and then we also have the
answer.
So if you are just completelystuck or you only have a few
minutes left in the park, youcan reveal the answer, so you're
never left wondering where inthe park the image can be found.

Amanda Richardson (26:33):
Because when we did those scavenger hunts
back in the day we were not solucky.
Yeah, so that's our generousaddition to the games where you
know, let's let people knowwhere they actually are.

Kevin Richardson (26:45):
So some park goers refuse to reveal a hint in
the answer that it is theirmission to find and others need
that extra help.
So, um, you can, you can revealif you'd like.

Amanda Richardson (26:57):
Yeah and if you're having trouble finding it
, I always say make sure toscratch those off, because with
theme parks I'm sure you guysare aware they're always
changing.
So sometimes the images that wepick and put on a card
disappear from the parks, eithertemporarily or permanently, and
when that happens, we actuallygive you, before you even start
playing, we give you a card toscan that says scan before play.

(27:19):
You scan that card.
It takes you to our webpagewhere we actually give you an
alternate card for anything thatwe know is missing.

Kevin Richardson (27:28):
That's also how you can report if you happen
to find that it's missingbefore we do.
That's how you can report.
Hey, this image is hidden byconstruction walls.

Vanessa Ferguson (27:37):
We'll give you a digital card replacement
right there and that is one ofthe things that we had gotten
our pack and it was the daybefore we left, so we didn't get
to get through our whole pack, but we were able to do part of
it and that was one of thethings that was nice.
We saw with the hints.
We were trying to do themwithout the hints the ones that
we did do but it's nice to havethat option and I did mention it

(27:58):
a little bit at the beginning.
And of course, we're here totalk about Disney, but I'd love
for you to just give a quicklist of what are some of the
other parks that you offer thesepacks for.

Kevin Richardson (28:09):
Sure.
So in California, which iswhere we're located, we have
Knott's Berry Farm, universalStudios, hollywood, seaworld,
san Diego, california's GreatAmerica and Six Flags Magic
Mountain.
It's Six Flags, magic Mountain.
And then over on the Floridaside, in addition to the Fork
World, we have Universal Studios, florida, islands of Adventure,

(28:30):
seaworld, orlando, bush Gardens, tampa Bay.
Did I hit them all?

Amanda Richardson (28:35):
I think that's all the ones we currently
have.
We have a few that are onpre-order on our website where
we've gone to the parks andtaken the photos.
We just haven't gone throughand created all the hints and
cut everything out, um, createall of our images.
We actually cut out somethingunique from the background, so
you won't know how big or smallit is, which adds to the fun.
I think it adds to thechallenge.

Kevin Richardson (28:56):
Yes, experience and the parks that
are coming soon, which you canpre-order on our website,
we'reintheparkcom.
We have Dollywood, carowinds, king's Dominion Bush Gardens,
williamsburg, six Flags overGeorgia and Worlds of Fun.

Amanda Richardson (29:12):
We also have Legoland California set up and
we're going to be heading out tomore parks in May to get some
Six Flags over Texas, six Flags, psa, texas, hershey Park,
dorney Park.
We're crazy and we love themeparks.
We love exploring the detailsof them and we're excited to
make all these games foreveryone to play.

Kris Johns (29:31):
Now you mentioned you're crazy, yes.
What was the inspiration foryou to start a business that
allows you to have all thesecrazy adventures?
You know?

Amanda Richardson (29:40):
when it started out.
It was actually we lovedDisneyland.
That's where we met the two ofus.
We met waiting for World ofColor for New Year's Eve back
during its first year ofexisting.
Oh wow, we just happened to bein the same section and started
talking.
So we loved Disneyland.
We were both.

(30:01):
Whatever the top tier pass wascalled back then I don't even
know Signature pass or whatever.
They keep changing the name, who knows.
But yeah, so we're like hey, welove this place.
We went on our first date atDisneyland a week later.
It was one of those.
We just love those parks.
So, like we'd all said, we didthe scavenger hunt there over

(30:23):
and over again.
So, like we'd all said, we didthe scavenger hunt there over
and over again.
So during the pandemic, obviously we kind of like the
rest of the world, starteditching for more disney parks or
just more theme parks ingeneral.
So I think I came up with theidea of like, hey, we should
make stuff with like theseimages, because we've taken so
many photos, it'd be fun tocreate things with these details

(30:43):
.
So it started out as more oflike a keychain and coasters
kind of company like, wasn't itreally?
It was just like, hey, it'd befun to go to a convention and
sell these things with randomthings, like no one will know
what they are.

Kevin Richardson (30:56):
You know, it was kind of a thought in our
heads and then we would includea card that goes along with the
coaster or the piece of art orwhatever, so that way you could
take that card to the park andfind that image.

Amanda Richardson (31:10):
Yeah, so it was like a scavenger hunt item
is the way we were thinking ofit, but we quickly found out
after our first few events wherepeople didn't really like
buying things when they didn'tknow what they were.

Kevin Richardson (31:22):
Which is crazy , because you have the mystery
pin sets, you have like allthese things that are similar,
but but people did love thecards.

Amanda Richardson (31:31):
Though they loved the cards a lot.
They were like we love that wewere able to go on a scavenger
hunt, so people were buying.
We had little mystery packswith like a few stickers and
some cards.
They were buying those morethan the actual keychains and
coasters.
So we're like you know what?
We should just make games.
That's really what we care moreabout anyway.
So we kind of pivoted quicklyinto making game packs instead.

(31:51):
And yeah, as far as expandingpast that, we kept doing events
with just the Disney packs whereeveryone would ask questions
like oh, that's a lot of fun, doyou have knots?
Do you have?
Do you have knots, do you have,do you have universal?
So we're like we can, why not?
That's kind of how itsnowballed out of control over
here, but it's been a lot of fun.

(32:12):
It's fun to have a reason to goto those parks, especially
since we've traveled across thecountry going to more of them.

Vanessa Ferguson (32:19):
Now that kind of adds into.
Our next question we alwayslike to ask is how do you think
your product adds Disney magicinto your customers' lives?

Kevin Richardson (32:29):
In so many ways there is.
We all love Disney parks, right, but there's something about
walking through a park thatyou've walked through thousands
of times or hundreds or tentimes and seeing something new
for the first time that you'vewalked by every single time you

(32:54):
know, and having that magicalconnection of and imagine you're
put that there on purpose.

Amanda Richardson (33:03):
It was put there with intention and I have
ignored it this whole time.

Kevin Richardson (33:07):
And now I see it, and now I know it's there
and will always know that it'sthere and I know for us creating
these game packs and having allof these pictures it allows you
to stop and really take in theambiance and theming around you

(33:27):
that the Imagineers anddesigners put countless hours
into creating for us.

Amanda Richardson (33:33):
I know I went to the parks like hundreds of
times before I did my firstscavenger hunt and when I
remember doing the firstscavenger hunt I'm like I'll be
fine.
I've been to this park so manytimes.
I know where everything is.
I didn't know where anythingwas is what I learned, where it
kind of opens your eyes to howmuch work was put into these
parks and it's just.

(33:53):
I don't know the level ofrespect that I didn't expect to
have for the parks, on top ofwhat I already had.

Vanessa Ferguson (34:07):
So yeah it definitely helps you to really
appreciate all the beaming putinto these.
Now I will say we had gottenour pack at the house of mouse
expo and it was our anniversaryand we were married in epcot.
So we were going to epcot fordinner that night and it wasn't
a.
We weren't planning on doingany rides or anything, we just
had a dinner reservation andwe're walking around and it was
a great way.
Like you said, you see things ina little different.
It slows you down and we knewwe were already going to have a

(34:29):
slower evening and it was just afun little aspect to add in.
And I think for so many of us,like you said, who've gone so
many times, it's finding thosenew things in those ways to make
you slow down and, instead ofrunning to the next ride, makes
you slow down and look for someof those details, and I know
that was what we enjoyed aboutour when we were doing it in
epcot yeah, absolutely, and you,you touched on something that

(34:54):
that's really key is none of theimages that we have are on
rides or in line for rides.

Kevin Richardson (35:01):
So these are images that you're going to find
just walking around the park, which you're already doing, and
it's a new way to experience theparks and we just love it so
much.

Amanda Richardson (35:14):
We make sure that everything can be seen
outdoors so you don't have toworry about going into shops or
just kind of interruptingpeople's days.
We try to make it that's one ofthe problems with the event.
Scavenger hunts is that theycan be a little disruptive for
the average guests around you.
So we try to like really makethe game friendly for everybody
so that way when you're playingit you're not interrupting
someone else's experience in thepark, you're just having fun on

(35:35):
your own as your group and it'snot time.

Kevin Richardson (35:38):
You can stop and start every month, right?

Vanessa Ferguson (35:40):
now, do either of you well well, I'm sure you
do what is your favorite partfor each of you Like?
Which pack is your favorite?

Amanda Richardson (35:47):
Well, the problem with creating scavenger
hunts is that you don't get togo on the scavenger hunt.
Sure, that makes sense, like weknow where everything is.
So when we first started, people would ask us how hard is
it?
You know, it's like we knowwhere everything is Right.
We know where everything is.
So we've learned as time's gone.
On some of them, we try tobalance the packs I don't know
how your pack was.

(36:08):
We try to balance it where someof them.
You should kind of have a goodidea of where it is as soon as
you see it, whereas other cardsit's like this could be anywhere
.
And that's the fun of the game,I think, is having it where
some of them, where you knowexactly where it is.
You go there and it's not there, which is also the best
experience, in my opinion.
We had one of those, yeah.

Kevin Richardson (36:29):
That's awesome .
I think I don't know if I havea favorite pack.
I know I have a favorite card, okay, and that is actually.
I have two favorite cards, butone of them is from our
Disneyland pack, series one.
We have series one and seriestwo and that is card number five

(36:51):
.
And the reason why that is myfavorite card is because our
sister-in-law and her familywent, and they go to Disneyland
all the time.
But her reaction to finding itlike every time you've walked
into Disneyland, you've seenthis image and so her reaction

(37:16):
of, oh, I finally found it, itwas right in front of my face
the whole time, so that has likethat was one of the first she
was part of our beta test, has, like that was one of the first,
you know, she was part of ourbeta test, you know, and and so
that was one of the first rawreactions that we got to
experience, and so that thatimage will always have a special
spot in my heart because of herreaction now, if I were

(37:40):
planning a trip for disney orone of these parks, how soon in
advance should I order throughyour website?
Well, shipping is usually fivedays.
We do standard shipping, but asfar as getting the order out
the door, it will go out sameday or next day.

(38:03):
So we print everything in-houseand we try and have inventory
stocked.
So if you're planning a bigtrip and you are looking to
purchase multiple packs, Let usknow, let us know.
But we try and keep, you know,10 of each on hand.
That's kind of our benchmark, just in case.

(38:27):
But if you're just going andyou're picking one pack of each
park, we'll get it out eithersame day if you know, the post
office hasn't closed yet, Sureor the next morning.

Vanessa Ferguson (38:42):
Now we've talked so much about all of
these fun games that you offer.
There's also a little bit ofsome other things that you do
related to Disney.
Could you share with ourlisteners a little bit about the
podcast that you're a part of?

Amanda Richardson (38:56):
We're co-hosts on the Imagine that
podcast, which is a littlesub-episode within Walt's
Apartment podcast, so you canfind that on any podcast
aggregator, be it Spotify orApple Podcast or whatever.
So just look up Walt'sApartment Podcast and then you
look for the ones that have theImagine that name on it and

(39:17):
you'll hear us talking aboutImagineering mostly.

Kevin Richardson (39:20):
Yeah, and we're also sponsors for the
Walt's Apartment Podcast, soyou'll hear not just our ads,
but we're also on the Wednesdaylive shows once a month, last
Wednesday of every month.

Amanda Richardson (39:33):
Yeah, those ones are fun because they do
them live on YouTube, becauseobviously we're a very visual
medium with our cards, sobecause that has video, we
actually show a card up on thescreen screen, but we make only
for that show.
We don't have them in our pack,so it's not a spoiler or
anything.
And uh, yeah, so we have it,where we have little hints, we

(39:54):
give them for the host of theshow to try to guess and people
can comment in the uh littlecomments there what they think
it is just a little game we play.

Kris Johns (40:02):
So you know you mentioned all these awesome
things you do.
Please tell us where you'reonline on socials.
Folks want to know.

Kevin Richardson (40:09):
Yeah, so you can find us on facebook,
instagram, all the social mediasuh, we're in the park.
Um, we also have, um, what wecall standby quest games over on
our social platforms.
So, like I mentioned, everything in our game packs are
things that are not found onrides or in lines Over on our

(40:32):
social.
Our weekday games are theopposite, so we will have an
image of something in line, youtell us what ride it's in and we
have a monthly drawing.
So, if this is something thatyou're interested in, go to any
social media platform, check outat we're in the Park, except
for X.

Amanda Richardson (40:47):
We're not doing that.
We're not on X, that's true.

Kevin Richardson (40:50):
But anything else, yeah, it's.

Amanda Richardson (40:51):

So thank you so much forjoining us today.

Kevin Richardson (41:15):
Thank you so much for having us.

Kris Johns (41:18):
Thank you again to Kevin and Amanda for joining us
today.

Vanessa Ferguson (41:21):
And now we are up with our two minute trivia
and our wisdom from Walt Coe andKris.
You are up with trivia.

Kris Johns (41:28):
So with that, you know, we talked about a lot of
characters that are at the park, true, but what about the ones
that are no longer there?
Okay, and I guess part of thatis there's going to be.
You know, there's some thatwere there for a short bit, but,
true or false, the PowerRangers were actually characters
in the park at one time.

Vanessa Ferguson (41:50):
I remember seeing Power Rangers, but I'm
not sure if it was at Universalor at Disney.
So I know Power Rangers meetand greet existed, but I don't
remember what park it was at.

Kris Johns (42:01):
It was for a very brief period.
They were in the park, according to the internet, so in
with that.

Vanessa Ferguson (42:06):
I think it was back then, mgm.

Kris Johns (42:09):
I believe it was yes , and so there was just some
sort of tie in where, for abrief time, disney had the
rights to the Power Rangers andthey used them and they were in
the park for a very short time.
So, yes, you are correct, vanessa, but the Power Rangers
and then.
But the Power Rangers and thensome other ones are Roger Rabbit
, I would love to see Roger.

Vanessa Ferguson (42:25):
Rabbit yeah, that would be cool.

Kris Johns (42:26):
Quasimodo, as well as the Sorcerer from what's the
Merlin?
What's that movie?

Vanessa Ferguson (42:35):
Sword in the Stone.

Kris Johns (42:36):
Sword in the Stone.
Wow, merlin at one point wasthere.
I think some of these areMerlin would be hard, I mean,
cause I don't think unless youhave Disney plus or the original
VHS tape from 40 years agowould you really remember Merlin
.
But yes, there's just a handfulof characters that are no
longer in the park.

Vanessa Ferguson (42:55):
Very cool and I'm surprised.
I remember it, but I think Ihave a picture of me.
I wasn't into Power Rangers,but I think I got a picture of
them somewhere.
I'll have to look for that now.
Now we spent all this timetalking about exploring the
parks, whether it be with whenin the Park, with some of their
scavenger hunts, or looking forthe different characters, and it

(43:18):
made me just want to look upsome of the quotes that Walt had
about the parks themselves, andthis one, I think, is a great
one.
It is you who will makeDisneyland truly a magic kingdom
, so hopefully you can make allthose magical memories with your
family, whether it be doing oneof the scavenger hunts or
checking out one of thesecharacter meet and greets.
And, of course, don't forget tocheck out all of our other

(43:41):
episodes on our Buzzsprout pageand follow us on social media
for even more Disney magic.
And thank you so much forjoining us on this episode of
the Dislove podcast with Vanessaand Kris.

Kris Johns (43:51):
