Come and listen to our Host, Gia-Raquel Rose for our “End of Year, Beginning of Me” Podcast Series.
A powerfully themed mini-series helping women close the year with clarity and step into the next one with grounded self-love and vision.

Gia-Raquel Rose, owner of Airs Above Yoga, LLC and a real estate sales associate in Tewksbury, New Jersey has had a love for horses stemming from early childhood. Growing up in “horse country” afforded her the privilege of beginning to ride from the tender age of four. It was a childhood illness, which brought her riding aspirations to an abrupt halt. It took twenty years before she was able to reunite with her long lost passion for horses and their ability to heal. In that time, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communication from Arcadia University and became a twice two hundred hour certified yoga instructor in both Hatha and Vinyasa. It was the loss of her mother, Rose, to breast cancer, which ultimately shifted her trajectory from the corporate world to the internal work for which yoga, as a practice, is renowned.

We guide a trauma-informed meditation using a carousel metaphor to identify repeating life cycles, meet symbolic animal allies, and create a safe path from stuckness to forward motion. We set a protective container, invite clear messages, and end with journaling prompts for real-world integration.

• grounding in breath, body comfort, and a protective light
• carousel metaphor for cycles and closure
• animal beneath you as protector and present pattern
• animal ahead as the next right step
• animal behind as motivation and drive
• right-side ally for pacing and method
• left-side ally for balance and grace
• releasing poles to move from confinement to freedom
• journaling prompts to capture animals and messages

SPEAKER_01 (00:31):
Thomas Day, and welcome to the Diva's that care
network.
I'm your host, Giorka Rose, owner of Airs Above Yoga, and
you are listening to Above theGround Podcast.
If this is your first timetuning in, our network is in its
15th year and listened to inover 30 countries.
I would like to personally thankyou for giving me the gift of
your time.
As always, it is my honor tohold space with you.

(00:54):
And continuing on this theme ofthe cycles that involve, you
know, awareness,acknowledgement, um of which
aspect of the cycle you happento be in, and you know, the
process of the beginning, middle, and end in its simplest
form.
Um, as we're gonna do a littlebit of a meditation today, what

(01:17):
I really want to focus on uh isthe way that we identify, you
know, which cycle, let's say, istop of mind, that is the cycle
that is most hindering ourgrowth, or the cycle that maybe
we repeat the most often, thecycle that is keeping us stuck

(01:37):
or not fulfilling our highestand best good, highest and best
use as a human on this planet, how these cycles um can be
stepped out of or completed onceand for all, so that we can move
on to the next.
Um, and I will say as a plug touh to Miss Chonda, and if anyone

(02:01):
in my in and around my age groupdid not grow up on Gray's
Anatomy, then I don't know whereyou are.
Um, and you know, most of theshows that this woman has come
out with have have taken on alife and a following of their
own.
And so I want to give a littlebit of a nod because this
meditation kind of came to me umthrough a certain episode from
Gray's Anatomy.

(02:21):
Um, so I apologize for any ofthose of you who may not be
fans, um, but I'm going to use aspecific episode based on
trauma, childhood trauma.
Um, and I'm gonna kind of pull ameditation from it as the
meditation came to me from thiskind of metaphor and this
experience.
And for anyone that's notfamiliar, I'll give you a brief

(02:43):
backstory on this particularsnippet.
Um, the main character of theshow had a mother who had uh
Alzheimer's.
It's a pretty big themethroughout the show, but
especially in the earlier years.
And um the mother also they hada complicated marriage and she
had an affair.
And I don't want to give toomany spoiler alerts for any of

(03:04):
you who haven't had the pleasureof experiencing Gray's anatomy
from beginning to not quite overyet.
Um, but essentially, there isthere's a flashback episode
where in that episode um a youngMeredith Gray is on a carousel,

(03:24):
um, and her mother isessentially being broken up with
by the man she was having anaffair with.
And the mother, even though sheuh was not, I believe the fact
in the flashback she had alreadywas experiencing signs of
Alzheimer's, but in the episodeitself, the flashback was with
regard to prior to anydegradation of her mind and the

(03:47):
fact that she still had a fairlytumultuous and or aggressive way
of relating with her daughter.
Um, and so she stuck poorMeredith on this carousel, wound
up having, you know, a bit of anemotional breakdown over the
abrupt and one-sided ending ofuh an affair of relationship.

(04:10):
And and you know, the quote, which give or take is pretty
close, is that she couldn't getoff the carousel and that she
wanted to get off the carousel.
And it was the mother who madethat comment, ironically enough,
even though it was the daughterthat she had placed on the
carousel as this happened, atleast as far as my memory is
concerned.
And so when we think about thismeditation, the reason that I'm

(04:33):
sharing this backstory isbecause not only is that, I
think, you know, a greatmetaphor that everyone is
familiar with, um, this idea ofgoing around in circles and
going around in circles andgetting nowhere, right?
But also this kind of, you know, bringing it back to childhood
trauma and how that affects ourrelationships as adults and how
that affects our choices withour environment, with our work,

(04:55):
with the people that we interactwith.
You know, your childhood kind ofsets the tone.
And unlike Miss Meredith Greg, Iwill say I had a wonderful,
wonderful, very uh nurturing andcaring mother.
So I don't have that experience,thankfully.
Um, and I was very, very blessedum to have the mother that I did
for as long as I did.
But um, that doesn't mean thatthere weren't other, you know,

(05:17):
child, no one gets out on thecage, right?
Like everyone has something, whether you were bullied,
whether, you know, whether youhad a divorce or an ill parent,
or you know, there are anynumber of ways that a child can,
you know, feel traumatized.
And they are neither to bejudged, they are you know true
experiences to that child.

(05:38):
But what I want to focus on, andI don't usually preempt the
meditations because I like tokind of let them flow and kind
of get rid of them, but I dowant to give a little bit of a
prompt prior to diving into themeditation itself, and it is
very, very simple.
This prompt is while we when Ilead us through this meditation,

(05:58):
it's going to place us tongue incheek on a carousel.
And what I want you to payattention to, now I don't want
you to start thinking now, oh,this is what my carousel looks
like.
That's not that's not what Iwant.
But what I do want you to kindof plug into your subconscious
now as a little bit of anintention for the meditation, is

(06:20):
to see and ask yoursubconscious, kind of ask
yourself in this prompt rightnow, to put the animals that are
the actual carousel pieces, orif you can imagine a carousel
and generally it's horses, maybesome circus-style animals like a

(06:41):
bear or a lion.
Um, so those are the types ofanimals that are generally
associated, air quotes, forthose of you that are listening
with carousels.
But I want you to kind of setthe intention now before we get
into the meditation itself, toask your subconscious to put
underneath and around you as wecome into this meditation,

(07:05):
animals which then can act assignifiers, symbols, or
representations of what you mayneed to focus on.
And the reason is that again, spoiler alert for the
meditation, as we move throughthis, there's going to be the
main animal that you happen tobe riding on on this carousel.

(07:30):
And then you're going to beable, in your mind's eye, to
look around you and notice whatother pieces are around you in
front of you, to the left andright behind you, etc.
Um, and I want you to, when youcome out of this meditation, I
don't usually give jot downnotes, I usually let it be open
for interpretation, but I wouldlike you to jot down the

(07:50):
animals, A, the one that you'reon, B, the one that is directly
in front of you, C, the one thatdirect that is directly behind
you, the one that is to theleft, and the one that is to the
right.
Um and you know, to that end, Ihope that they carry
significance for you.

(08:10):
And I want you to be able toreference them as you kind of
navigate through the next steps.
Um, and more on that later.
But as always, now that I'vegiven a little bit of a spoiler
alert to the meditation and anod to Miss John Primes, and
thank you so much for all of thewonderful creative work that
you've put out to inspire umteenage and pre-teen and

(08:32):
prepubescent and um young adultsand adults and middle-aged
women.
Um, thank you for all of thosethings.
And I'd like to now invite youto set yourself up for this
meditation um in whatever wayyou feel comfortable and
confident to do so.
And again, always rememberingthat when you come into
meditation, the most importantthing is your physical comfort

(08:53):
and the ability to remain inthat place undeterred,
uninterrupted for, you know, let's say approximately 10
minutes.
Um make sure that you're not ina position where you're going to
start to feel pain, whether it'sin your lower back, in your
knees, um, in your hips, anywhere that you have a
sensitivity or predispositionfor getting stuck or feeling

(09:15):
tight.
Maybe choose a way that you canconnect yourself with the ground
comfortably and supported, whether that is in a seated
position, where you can even sitwith your back up against a
wall, you can lay down.
I'm a big fan.
I know it's not traditional inthe eastern sense, but I am a
very large fan of uh laying downand being reclined in

(09:37):
meditation.
Um it's just always worked wellfor me.
And I do think it supports thegrounding, even though from an
Eastern standpoint it is nottechnically aligning the chakras
vertically.
I still think that if you arecoming out of that because of
discomfort, then it's takingaway from the meditation and
your chakras are still inalignment, even if they're
horizontal.
So take from that what you will.

(09:58):
Legs up the wall is also awonderful way.
And if you are concerned thatyou may not feel as grounded
with legs up the wall, then youcan always put, um, if it's
comfortable for you, like alittle bit of a weighted blanket
or a pillow or bolster just onthe top of your bottom, on the
bottoms of your feet as yourfeet are up, um perpendicular,
if you will, to the ceiling.
Um, arms outstretched, palmsfacing up if you are reclined

(10:22):
and feeling inspiration isrequired, or palms facing down
if you feel a little bitfrazzled, that you may want a
little bit more of a restorativeenergy, a little bit more
grounding, if you will.

SPEAKER_02 (10:33):
And then just inviting you to, from wherever
you are, begin to gently loweryour gaze and finally close your
eyes and begin to draw yourawareness into your body by
connecting with your breath.

(10:55):
And as you breathe, begin tosend that breath into all the
points of contact betweenyourself and the earth beneath
you.
Truly begin to ground down.
Feel the support of the earth.

(11:20):
Feel it grounding you into thissafe and sacred space.
Begin to visualize the lightsurrounding you.
And declare that in this spaceyou are safe.

(11:42):
You are protected.
And only high vibrational truemessages for your highest and
best good.
Can penetrate through thislight.

(12:05):
Only that which is directly fromsource the universe, God itself.
Let me connect with you here.
And use any visual aid thatcomes to mind if it feels safe
and right for you.

(12:28):
To see this.
Golden, luminescent, whitesometimes lavender light
surrounding you fully andcompletely in a sphere.

(12:52):
And then begin to visualize aglowing column of light just in
front of you.
And with your mind's eye.

(13:17):
Gently place your hands aroundthis glowing column of light.
As you hold on to it.
Feel its warmth.
Continuing in the knowledge thatyou are safe.
Then allow this light to beginto move through you.

(13:50):
As it does illuminating yourhands, your arms.
And moving up through your body.
And as this light moves throughyour body, begin to feel the
gentle rhythm moving up anddown.

(14:18):
Feel free.
Feel at peace.
Feel balanced in this rhythm.
Almost in the same way that youmay find comfort in a rocking
chair.

(14:39):
Gentle Repetitive Soft Steadymotion.
And then as you slide your handsgently down What do you see?

(15:03):
In your mind's eye realizingthat you are now completely
safe.
On this carousel.

(15:49):
Notice what stride this animalhas.
Notice its feet.

(16:15):
Continuing in the knowledge thatthis animal is here to protect
you.
Ask if it has a message for you.

(16:38):
Hear its voice.
Trust in its message.
Feel with your hands thesoftware at the base of the neck

(17:03):
of this animal.
Does it have a name?
Is it an animal maybe that youknow?

(17:27):
Or have lost?
Is it a wild animal?
Or a domesticated one.

(17:52):
Ask this animal to help you lookout in front.
And notice the light expandingout and around you.

(18:14):
What is it that you see?
Do you see an animal just beyondthe one that you are riding?
The one that is carrying youthrough this cycle.

(18:39):
Allow it to turn and look backat you.
Again, feeling the safety andthe steadiness and the gentle
repetition of the rhythm.

(19:29):
That is the next step.
In the cycle that you'recurrently in.
For your highest and best good.

(20:23):
Onwards.
And upwards.
Thank this animal for giving youthe message it has to share.

(20:50):
And gently Coming back to theanimal that you're currently
riding on in that steady, gentlerhythm.
Allow yourself and your animalto look back just behind you.

(21:20):
What is there behind you?
What animal is with you on thisjourney.

(21:46):
Notice the movement.
Is it free?
Is it soft?
Is it strong?
This animal helps you to knowyour motivation.

(22:15):
This animal helps you torecognize the drive to push
forward through the cycles.

(23:18):
Know that you can rely upon it.
Whenever you feel even for justa moment.
Or that you're tired.
T or that you can't go on.

(23:42):
T Remember this animal.
T and remember this message.
T as you and the animal beneathyou begin to turn your heads.
Gently pause.

(24:04):
Extending your right hand out.
And reach out to the animal justto your right.

(24:24):
What animal is running besideyou.
Gently reach out.
Notice how it moves.

(24:48):
Notice its demeanor.
Run your hand gently down itsneck.
Thanking it for being with youon your journey.

(25:21):
Ask this animal if it has amessage for you.
A message of how to move throughthis cycle.

(25:56):
Is it one you know?

(26:26):
Heartfelt for you.
Bringing your right hand back tothe animal beneath you.
As you both look over your leftshoulder.

(26:49):
Extending your left arm outlong.
What animal do you see on yourleft side?

(27:16):
What animal is running alongsideyou.

(27:41):
Look towards its gate.

(29:33):
As you move through thisjourney.

(30:00):
Thank the animal to your leftfor sharing its message with
you.
And bring both hands back to thegolden light, connecting you to

(30:25):
the animal just beneath you.
This animal is with you alwaysthrough every cycle.
This animal can inspire you, support you, guide you, and

(30:52):
protect you.
Thank it.
Thank them all.

(31:30):
Allow the light that is betweenyour hands to release from the
form of a pole into the form ofa lead, know that you and the

(32:04):
animals that surround you arefree.
That even with the pull of thecarousel in a new form, the

(32:26):
rhythm is still there to comfortyou when you need it from the
animal that you have been goingthrough this journey on.

(32:55):
Look again to the animal to yourright.
Follow its lead.

(34:18):
Releasing the poles and theleaves.
Connecting you always.

(35:10):
Above all, that you areprotected on this journey to
your highest and best self.
Allow the light to settle intothe sensation with the palms of

(35:39):
your hands.
The light of the leadsconnecting you to these animals
that now run free.
As you are now free.
Free in the knowledge of whereyou're going.

(36:04):
What animal is helping you getthere.
The drive you have behind youbringing you there.
The animal leading you.
And how to fulfill theculmination of this cycle and

(36:24):
the animal that is protectingyou along the way.
Feel their strength.
Feel their innate knowing.

(36:48):
And feel safe.
And the love and compassion theyhave for you.
The love and compassion you havefor them.

(37:08):
Ground yourself back into yourbody now.
Taking five deep breaths.

(37:59):
Bringing your hands with thesame soft glow from the leads
connecting you to your animalhelpers.
Bring your palms to your heart.
Ground yourself back in yourbody.

(38:21):
Knowing they're with you.
And when you feel ready, gentlyopen your eyes.
Always take your time formeditation and opening your eyes

(38:45):
and making movements.
And gently begin in your owntime to make your way from your
mat.
I encourage you to write downany notes, the animals you saw,
the messages they had for you,and how they were placed in your

(39:13):
vision today.
We hope this brought youinsight, strength, motivation,
and peace.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
