Well, welcome again, kat.
You were here, I believe 2023.
I don't remember the date, butwe did chat before and I am so
looking forward to today.
It was on the phone.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
That's how long ago
it was.
It was on the phone.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
It wasn't even on
Zoom, no, and now I I mean we're
, we're totally different, right, we're not doing just talking
cat and her confidence, we'retalking cat and her confidence
and how she runs her business.
So I'm gonna, we're gonna, diveinto this conversation.
I'm really looking forward toit.
So the first thing I want toknow from you so we're talking
(02:41):
boss, babe, summer and upleveling.
You know our business and ourlife.
So the first thing I want toknow from you what is your word
of the summer and do you haveone?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
my, it might be a
string of words of get my butt
in gear and I don't know if it's.
I know it's not just me, but alot of times we hit that wall
and it's like, oh, I don't knowwhich path I need to take, what
(03:21):
that next step forward is.
And lately I've been like boldaction.
It's like let's just step in,let's take the action, let's
just do it, and then, if westumble, then we'll figure it
out.
Right, and that's what we callit Right, yeah, so now it's,
(03:42):
it's more.
I guess my word is bold, actionand visibility.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
That's my, that's my
phrase right, like, it's still
(04:08):
the summer and now is a time tosort of maybe, you know have fun
with all the different ideasthat can come up, right, oh,
that would be great for the fall.
Oh, I could do that in thespring.
Like, now is a good time tocome up with all the the fun and
enticing ideas, right?
I mean, they say that, you know, summertime is the time to
party and enjoy life.
So you know we need to do thatwhile we're coming up with all
(04:30):
these cool ideas.
Now tell me you're in Florida.
No, you're in California,california, right?
So are you close to a beach?
No, no.
So you wouldn't have a beachread unless you go to the beach
on your on the weekends.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
No, I am going, I am
leaving.
I'm leaving the country nextweek for a little bit and going
on a retreat and I think there'ssome beach in there somewhere.
So that's good.
And to what you said I wouldsay that the fun and the joy and
(05:11):
the reflection and all of thatisn't just summer.
It's building that incontinuously, because if we wait
until summer, then by the timewe get to summer we're like oh,
I just want to now go summerlong.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Well, this, this is
very true, that's part of that's
part of our routine, right.
Rest, rest and reflection hasto be in our daily routine, for
sure.
But I find that in thesummertime nobody wants to sit
in the office all day, right, like I noticed yesterday and the
day before here in Edmonton.
The weather was just beautifuland I was like looking out my
(05:52):
window, when what am I doing inhere, right?
And so I packed up my computerand I went and sat.
You know, well, I went to forlunch with a friend and we sat
outside.
I didn't open my computerbecause I'm, you know,
socializing, but I had mycomputer because I thought, just
in case I get there a littlebit early, right, I can do a
little bit, right.
And so I find that's what I doover the summer, like I sort of
(06:15):
squeeze in, you know, as much ofthe fun as I can, because I
mean, we still got to work, westill, you know, you can't just
(06:37):
stop working, right.
But I find in the summertimeit's easier to take a little,
you know, an extra hour here andthere, right.
And then in the wintertime, when you don't want to be
outside as much's, you know, maybe for your business or just
for you know?
Recreation, do you have afavorite?
Speaker 3 (06:52):
I I have the list of
many books, um, that I I would
say I I'm probably in the middleof a few books, Because I get
(07:12):
intrigued when people are likethis book would be really good
for you to read right now.
No, don't give me another book,or you know, like you know, we
talked about some.
We talked about Jen and youknow how real she is, and I have
(07:33):
a few of those mentors that arelike that from you know.
They come from different spaces, different coaching paths and
they're like oh, the book thatgot me, you know, to take more
action is this one.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
I'm like, all right,
I'll just add it to my list
right, I have, I have anextremely long list, but what I
started doing, so I listened toaudible and when I'm talking
with someone and they, you knowat the time that they suggest,
you know, oh, you got to readthis book, I write it down and
(08:09):
as soon as my visit with them isover, I go on my phone and I
download that that read, becauseI know if I don't do it right
now it's not going to happen.
And now it's on my phone.
That doesn't mean I'm going toread it right away, but it's on
my list, right.
So it's like okay, I finishedthat book, let's what's next.
And then I just pick one.
So eventually I will get to it.
And I joined a book club andthis is really strange for me.
(08:32):
So I joined it on Friday, sothat was due July 4.
And on July 28, we're having abook club meeting, right, and I
have to read this book.
Well, this book is See you atthe Top by Zig Zig Ziglar.
Right Now, I don't know if youhave read this book, but it's
super fine print.
Like I opened it up thismorning and I was like, oh no, I
(08:55):
won't have this done by the28th.
Like there's just no way right, with everything else on top.
But I will do the best I canRight, because I'm'm like I
don't know how I'm gonna getthat.
Like you know, like Mel Robbinsbooks, they're easy reads,
right, you could read them in aweek, but this one is not that
easy.
Anyway, let's talk about BossBabe Summer.
(09:18):
What does Boss Babe Summer looklike for you this year?
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I think Boss Babe,
summer resonates with my bold
action and visibility and, youknow, really stepping in and
taking risks and really beingmore bold in who I want to be,
(09:48):
love that and shedding the oldskins of, or the old identities
of.
You know, I sat in corporate.
I used to sit behind a computer.
I used to just do the thingthat they said to do, to get it
done to you know, make them lookgood.
(10:08):
And now it's like, wait, wegotta, we gotta.
You know, we gotta do that, foryou know my business and we got
to get out there and reallyspeak about who I am and you
know how I can, you know, reallyhelp others on their journeys.
(10:32):
So it's really, you know, it'sreally that blend of who I am
and what I bring to the tableand, you know, really leading
life in a different way.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
I love that, and so
now I know that you have many
new coaching strategies andtools that you're teaching
others and your clients, so areyou finding that this is going
to be the time for you to?
Sort of put that all togetherin packages, or have you already
done that and now you'repromoting the packages?
Speaker 3 (11:11):
So yes and no.
So yes and no.
Um, I have.
I have some things that we talkabout, you know, stepping in,
and then all of a sudden it'slike that didn't work so well.
So I have workshops that I havebeen experimenting with.
Well, my experimentation insome levels didn't quite work as
(11:34):
well, and a lot of that waswhen you are taking different
actions and experimenting andI've become more, I guess, more
risky.
In my experimentation ofbusiness it's like well, let me
get out to eventbrite and playin that land, and let me get out
(11:56):
here and play in that land andsee who I can meet and all of
that.
Well, you know some mistakes, you know I had a whole bunch of
people sign up for a workshopand it's like, oh yeah, they
weren't getting my directcommunication.
They were only focused on theEventbrite communication, which
didn't have all the information.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Oh, that's part of
the learning right.
I mean that's, yeah, I get that, I get that, and then now you
have to learn how to navigatethat.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
So, yeah, earlier in
the summer, you know, last month
, I learned that you know I had30 people sign up for a workshop
and only three showed up,because you know there was a
communication gap that I didn'tknow about.
Know, building thoserelationships and helping you
(12:57):
know, really getting to know allthese tools that I'm working
with and understanding where myflaws and lack of understanding
is so I can build thatunderstanding, so, yeah, those
are, those are the things thatwe have to step into and go.
Oh, yeah, let me just thinkabout that and let me Because
it's not.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, because Grab my
brain around it.
Yeah, it's not always as easyas it sounds.
Right, you know there's otherthings involved that you don't
consider if you've never done itbefore.
Yeah, wow, that's awesome,that's awesome.
Yes.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Well, I mean, you
learn about yourself and how to
use the systems right.
I mean, that's what it's allabout, yeah, so how are you
using this season of summer andboss babe, to recharge and
refocus I think I want to get atattoo, kidding and I'm using
the summer to really look atwhat's working, really do a deep
reflection of what's working, what really speaks to my current
(14:07):
clients, and what words orphrases or, you know, even in
social media land, what thingsdo I say that create that
(14:27):
interest, so I can really, youknow, figure out what I want my
vision to look like.
It's like really stepping backand pulling back the curtain and
going let's see how we can, youknow, take this in a way, take
this journey or, you know, create this journey that speaks
(14:51):
to my heart.
This journey that speaks to myheart isn't, isn't in this have
to land, speaks to my heart andallows me to continue my journey
of growth and development andpassion for who I am and where I
want to go, and also, you know, helps me help my clients in
(15:16):
bigger, bolder ways, so they canbe on their journey and expand
on their own path ofexperimentation and life and
reflection.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
So, I love that.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Yeah, this whole
pulling back the curtain and
seeing what's possible.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, I love that and
it makes me think like every
year is different, right, everyyear in our own business is
different and we can we have thecontrol to expand that or
shrink it if we need to Like, ifwe know it's going to be a
heavy year, say in our personallives.
We have that ability to look at, you know, I mean we know what.
(15:56):
I mean we don't know everything, but you know, sometimes you
know stuff is coming up Rightand so you can look at that and
go, okay.
So this year, you know I needto sort of scale back on the
hours I put into my business.
What can I do so that itdoesn't affect maybe the income
or the like, the revenues andall the things, without my time
(16:17):
right, or I got nothing comingright, everything that that was
supposed to happen has happenedand now I can be in the business
a little bit more.
So, yeah, I love that.
I love the whole pull back thecurtain concept, right, because
then you can look at everythingas much as we can know.
Right, because life has thetendency of showing up when we
(16:38):
don't expect it.
So I love that.
Now we kind of we kind oftalked about mentors earlier and
then I just want to know likedo you have like a boss babe
role model?
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Well, I kind of think
of Jen as a boss babe role
model, because it's like oh, Iwant to be like her.
And then me too there's,there's a few of them, you know.
Uh, I think you know.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
Joey Joey's.
Uh yes, joey Flessner, absolutely, I love her too.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Yes, yeah, katarina
Rando, there's, you know things?
that are very boss babish.
And then another gal that I amin one of her groups why am I
not Amanda Kaufman?
So I don't know if you know her.
(17:31):
Yeah, I met her when I was inDallas recently with Elaine
Williams and I was doing like aphoto shoot and I was getting.
That's another place where Ihad to get out of my comfort
zone.
All right, let's just do it is.
Elaine Williams is like avideographer and you know total
(17:56):
videographer and you know total.
Let's, let's get that camera inyour face and let's just do it.
And so in three days time werecorded 30 videos.
Talk about out of my comfortzone.
I'm like, and all like inpublic.
It's like walking through apark.
Let's sit here and let's recorda video.
And there's people walking by.
I'm like, all right, what arewe talking about now?
Speaker 2 (18:18):
what?
But that is, that is like theway to get you out of that
comfort zone, just to expandthat just a little bit more.
That's great.
I don't have the guts for that.
I think I need her, oh my gosh.
I I love routines.
I love, you know, knowing aboutroutines.
I like creating new routines.
(18:38):
I want to know what your summermorning routine is.
If you could summarize it inthree words, what would you say?
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Coffee reflection and
it's like coffee food coffee
(19:16):
reflection.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
I love that, I love
that, you know.
And it's funny that, like, notall women are quick to admit
that, right, most women are likegive me coffee, right, and then
I do a little bit of exercise,I do a little bit of this, and
then food seems to be last onthe list.
No one wants to admit it.
But, yeah, you're right.
Right, if you're hungry, youneed to eat.
Your body is telling yousomething.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I needto eat.
(19:41):
Yeah for sure.
Well, we all do, right, we alldo.
Yeah.
Is there a move that you'remaking for, like, during the
summer, to set yourself up for astronger fall?
Um?
Speaker 3 (19:55):
um One for Stronger
Fall.
It's really making sure I taketime for me.
It's also making sure that Itake all the actions.
So I made that bold, scary moveof bringing on assistants to
(20:18):
help me with some of the thingsthat I don't always take the
time to do.
It's like I can do it and Idon't always take the time to do
.
Like social media.
It's like, you know, if I, if Iam, if it's up to me to post
everywhere in social media, thenI sometimes get busy on the
(20:44):
scroll.
It's like, well, let's see whateverybody else.
And then when I get into scrollland, it's like I don't get
anything done and you're postingmight get me yeah, I can relate
with that a 100.
So it's really setting myself upby having somebody else handle
the stuff that distracts me anddoesn't keep me focused on the
(21:10):
actions that are really going tohelp me move forward.
So it's, it's, and that's awhole new path of communication
also.
So it's really learning how tocommunicate with somebody else,
what the vision is, what thelanguage is, what the you know
the direction and the path ofthe journey that I'm on right
(21:33):
now.
To have them take it and runwith it, and then letting go of
control and letting them do it.
So, yeah, so it's really, youknow, stepping into that.
You know, all right, I can't be100 in control.
(21:54):
So it's like how can we, youknow, let go of that slice and
know that they've got it?
That trust, you know, ofsomebody else taking on that
responsibility, so I can focuson, focus on my clients, having
those conversations, reallybeing present, because presence
(22:18):
is so powerful, and so that'swhat I'm focused on this summer
is like what are those thingsthat I can let go of?
What are those things thatdon't need my full on attention?
So I can put my attention inthe places that make the most
sense and build thoseconnections in that path forward
(22:41):
that really speaks to me, andso I love others.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
I love that, and so
tell me, what is one habit that
you either have created or arecontinuing with that keeps that
possible for you?
Speaker 3 (22:58):
it's really really
noting down where.
It's tracking my strengths andweaknesses to determine where I
either need to build mystrengths or where it's better
to let those weaknesses go tosomebody else that is stronger
(23:21):
in it.
So, like canva not exactly astrength for my, for me and you
know, can hit a few frustrationbuttons like, all right, we
gotta let that one go, we gottalet somebody else handle that
one it's like that is not thecreativity path for me.
There's another creativity pathsomewhere else, because it's
(23:42):
really looking at and I thinkyou know well if you're part of
GU, you you know the language ofenergy.
It's like what are those thingsthat raise my energy?
And one of those things thatare like Ooh, that was an energy
drain and we need to findanother path for that one,
because it's not going to workIf my energy goes this way and
(24:05):
then it goes straight down thisway.
Right, yeah, it doesn't.
You can't connect with othersif your energy is constantly
tanking.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Right, but you also
need to be aware of what energy
vibe you're holding.
Right, and some of us are nottotally in tuned with that and
I've noticed that in myself.
Right, that sometimes I'm likeI come to a meeting and I don't
know where my headspace is.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Right, I'm like.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
I don't, I'm just
coming because it's on my
calendar, right, and so that'ssomething that I've had to like
actually like look at and saywhy are you doing this?
Because being on your calendaris you're being busy, yes, but
you're not being productive,Right.
You need to have intentions,Right, and I think that's where
you know, I think that's wherewe need to go Right, Like we
(24:52):
need to know what we're doing, why we're doing it Right, and so
, yeah, yeah I.
That really resonates with meas well.
So if you were to give, youknow, your fellow female
entrepreneurs, like some kind ofadvice or you know pointers for
the summer, what would that be?
Speaker 3 (25:23):
what you just said.
One thing I started doing withmy calendar.
When you know, I am looking atmy calendar and I see an
appointment on there, if it's aclient appointment then those
are the ones.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
You know what you're
doing.
Yeah, those you.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Yeah I know what I
know?
Yeah, but if there's a class ora program or something that has
landed on my calendar, it's a,it's not, it's not.
Uh, it's not going to kill meto miss it and my energy and my
head space are not in the properspace.
Or sometimes, you know, mycalendar has two or three things
(25:51):
and I'm like all right, whichone is actually going to feed me
, you know, versus which one isgoing to deplete me?
Yes, it might have information.
Yes, it might not have arecording.
You know it's really looking atand questioning within which
one makes the most sense formoving forward or is it just on
(26:16):
there because somebody else said, oh yeah, that was the class I
wanted and really, you know it'sreally going inside versus
paying more attention to theexternal forces.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Right yeah, 100%.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah, I love nation
versus external, you know,
unknown.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Yeah, exactly, and
having intention right, like
having you know the knowledge ofthis is going to bring me
forward, or it's just going tobe more knowledge to add to my
brain, right, right, yeah, Imean, we can't know what we
already know.
Right, there's always room toknow more, but is it going to
bring me forward?
Is often you know what has tobring you there is often.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
You know what has to
bring you there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, like.
Right now I'm doing a trainingon understanding the power of
Facebook groups because I knowone of my weaknesses is that
building of relationships insocial land.
It's, and it's reallyunderstanding.
You know that's.
That's one of my my umchallenges for myself this
(27:27):
summer is how do I build thosesocial connections and
understand the building ofrelationships and not?
You know that, yes, I connected.
Bye now know that.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Yes, I connected by
now.
Right, it's not just a matterof like, let's be friends and
we'll see you around.
Right, it's more like let's befriends, let's connect often and
let's get to know each otherlike we are in the same world.
Yeah, I totally get that.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Yeah, yeah that's my
challenge for myself this this
summer is really understandingthat building of relationships
and not the like.
I have 500 plus friends exactlyyeah, yeah, I get that.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
I love that actually.
Yeah, that's that's like super,like.
It's actually really superimportant because now, with you
know the virtual world, we haveconnections all over the world,
right, and you can have anactual relationship with these
people.
You don't have to be in thesame room, right, and every
(28:30):
relationship, just like inperson, is different, right.
Yeah, yeah, I understand that ahundred percent.
Yeah, so tell me, what wouldyou tell your fellow female
entrepreneur friends?
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Keep taking action,
keep moving forward, keep
learning and continue to shineyour light and be bold and
brilliant.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
I love it.
I love it.
Now, last question for today.
Fast forward to the end ofsummer 2025.
What would make you say yes, Idid it.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I leveled up rebooted
and thriving, and I will be
evolving Love it.
