As the novel coronavirus situation evolves in the nation, everyday life for many families is changing to include social isolation, remote work, and home quarantine. Humans are social creatures, and medical quarantine or isolation in general have been associated with serious mental health effects.
In fact, a recent review of research found that “quarantine is linked with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, confusion, and anger, with some research suggesting these effects are long-lasting.” How during these unknown and new times do we maintain a level of structure, balance and create new habits.
Most of us are so accustomed to going to work, dropping the kids off, attending gym classes, lunching with friends that this time period producing completely new routines and also this needs new habits. Some tips for how to approach new lifestyle habits and expectations!
